Scheduling something here doesnt mean anything to them. They will either make you wait 3 hours for nothing or tell you to come back at a certain time and then tell you to wait 3 hours.I feel like they over book on purpose thinking that people are just going to accept it. Its not the mechanics fault either so I dont hold it against them. The people that do scheduling need to communicate with the people in the back to get realistic estimates on time and not overbook/overwork them.

Went there for and alignment, I made an appointment the day before so I won’t be waiting. Got there 8:50 the person in the front desk got my keys and told me that he is unsure of how long it will take to service my car and it doesn’t matter if I had an appointment or not. I started to wait and after an hour and a half there was no movement for the cars that were on the lifts since I got there at 8:15. I walked to the back to see what’s going on and the technician is not working on the cars but saw him browsing on his phone for the entire hour I was waiting!! What a waste of my time PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE THAT STORE/SHOP IS A JOKE

The hours posted here are incorrect. They have a posting on their window saying 8–8 so I got there 30 minutes too early. Had an appointment for emissions at 8, got there and they said emissions are closed and that their guy wouldn’t be there for another 20 minutes. So I left and went to Goodyear in Plainville instead. They got to me immediately. You shouldn’t be able to make certain appointments online if the service can’t be provided. No apology. Don’t waste your time.

Been trying to get someone to just answer a question and possibly make an appointment this morning.... they just answer Pep Boys, please hold and instantly place you on hold... First time waited 9 mins before I hung up to try again and same thing happened when I called a second time. I dont feel its reasonable to keep customers on hold for over 10 mins

Terrible experience at the Waterbury store, went to fix a tire last month ended up with a damage rim on my truck, manager completely denied it ever happened there had to argue so they could do an incident report, still waiting on my claim to date. Will never go for service there again.

The customer service needs improvement. When I walked in, a representative completely ignored me. I just went in for emissions testing and I had to wait 40 minutes. This was the worst experience I have ever had when it comes to getting emissions done, which is usually a very simple process!

We would give minus ten stars if possible but the review does not allow that!! We recently (2weeks ago) spent $575.00 for a new alternator & battery for our truck which we only use sporadically on weekends. When we used the truck for the first time yesterday the belt was squealing when engine was cold. It had not done this prior to the “fix.” When we brought it in today they did NOTHING & charged us $20.00 “diagnostic”fee!! They wanted to replace belt & tensioner which is part of the alternator for another $ 465.00 (estimated ) I’m sure with fees etc it would have been more!!! We were told we “should have brought the truck right back the day it was fixed”!!!! Really???? If you don’t bring back immediately they don’t guarantee their work????Totally unacceptable business practice!! We have been loyal customers for years. We will NEVER go there again!!! I suggest no customer should trust this Waterbury Pep Boys!!

Ive been using this PepBoys a few times because its 5 minutes away but I wont return. You make an online appointment and then they ask you what are you doing. They say itll be an hour and its almost 2 for changing oil and change a wiper. It so happened that I was outside the building and I saw the mechanic struggling trying to open my car and joked with throwing the FOV key to the floor because he was unable to make it work. Not professional and very telling to me. Theres plenty of places and I will definitely will try another one next time.

Absolutely terrible experience. My mother went in for a simple oil change and they saw it as a opportunity to cash out. After telling her that she needed this “emergency work” they quoted an outrageous number for four tires and could not provide any documentation giving a breakdown of the quote. Called around to THREE different tire places, quoted the same 4 tires - all came in at half the cost. I get it, “up-sell” where you can but she won’t be back for anything, not even simple oil changes.

They wanted $440 to swap an exhaust pipe and I was supplying the part. Meineke quoted me $100 for the same work. I asked why they were more than quadruple the price and Sean (the alleged manager) said they “do things different” at Pep Boys. Now I understand why Meineke was hard to get a same day appointment and Pep Boys had all afternoon open.

After sitting on hold for 35 minutes, a rep finally picked up the phone at which time I asked to speak with a manager, and they said they didnt have one. I order tires online they say everything’s ready. I come in for my set appointment and nothings ready, they don’t have the tires. Corporate must not be communicating or updating systems because this is terrible and inconvenient now I’m late for places i have to be. I got things to do and they’re playing with my time and money. I have to get tires i didn’t want. Very unprofessional! 12:01pm my vehicle should be going right in! Instead i get all this nonsense. Get it together. Not coming back and won’t be recommending. I came in for a simple oil change. After it was done the guy at the desk told me I needed 2 new tires and other work done on a car I just got. He said one had a nail in it and there was something else wrong with the other front tire. I took my car to Joe’s tires and they checked both tires and said they were perfectly fine, there was a small nail in one but not long enough to penetrate through to need a whole new tire. Saved me a few hundred dollars going to them instead of pep boys.

Came back at 4, the part was late. 5:50, it came but it turned out it was the wrong part. Hours of waiting only for another visit. :/

Went in for emissions. The shop manager would not wear a mask or allow his employees to do so when asked; this is a huge health risk these days, especially when shop employees have to get into other folks cars. He says that only gloves were sufficient, and he specifically said that anything else would be going above and beyond, which were not going to do. NEVERMIND THE AIRBORNE VIRUS!On top of that, two mechanics were standing outside the shop coughing. There is /was no way they should be working without masks!!The manager said that all emissions are delayed [false] and that I would not be charged a late fee [also false; received the letter today] and he would not listen to me when I stated that my deadline was just before the new rule cutoff. Grossly [literally] unhelpful. I doubt Ill be returning even thought the oil changes are cheap. I cannot support a business that doesnt take customer safety concerns seriously.

If I can give this place zero stars I would!! The service department sub standard service. Basically I came in here for an oil change and it was supposed to be just that. A couple of weeks later Im getting smoke from under my hood I was not notified that I needed to get a valve cover gasket replaced. So after my engine is smoking I come to Pep Boys and they tell me yes I need to replace this part and its gonna cost me $500. They are trying to offer me a discount off of the price but that isnt good enough I feel that the service department has failed me in giving me the recommended information at the right time so I can correct the action in the moment. Being that I was not notified at the time. The problem has gotten worse I have never had a problem getting a simple oil change at a major maintenance store. If you want better business and not feel like youre being ripped off or not seeing that you were viewed as a dollar bill then I would go somewhere else because good customer service doesnt exist here its all about the money. They definitely lost a long time customer. I have never had this kind of mistreatment. And to boot I needed this vehicle done at 12:30 PM mind you I had a 8 oclock appointment this shouldve been a simple fix here it is almost 2:00 PM and Im still in the store waiting… So much for completing something in a timely manner and making an appointment.

Worst place to get an oil change, I have to wait for 2 and half hours having an appointment. So if you don’t want to waste a lot of time to get an oil change go to another place. (When I told a person that it takes a long time, he told me oh it was only for 2 hours and 27 minutes.

I’ve dealt with a lot of auto parts stores and I felt most respected as a woman coming here. I first had to drive to this store (I live 30 min away) because they were one of the few that had all the parts I needed. Manager Frank helped me out with everything I needed. A few months later I had an issue and called the store and Frank answered. He treated me with respect and told me that he was not working today but would have the parts waiting for me. They were waiting for me as he said. Great guy went above and beyond!!

Let me start by saying save your hard earned money. I went there 3 times on different days to have an AC recharged and there were problems on their side each time that they could not service my car. The price was almost triple what I am paying at a different mechanic for the exact same service.

My check engine light came on. The dealer wanted $120 to diagnose. Another chain did the diagnosis at no charge only because I was spending $800 on tires. Their estimated repair was 8-12 hundred dollars. I went to Pep Boys where they did a free analysis without a wait. They said it would probably be less than $250 if no other problems were found and suggested I use an OEM part which they did not stock. They gave me the part # and I bought it on line for less than 1/3 of the cost from the dealer. I took the car back to Pep Boys and they made the repair quickly and at just over $100! They spent time to look the car over and gave me a complete explanation of other work I should consider at a later time and a detailed estimate. The service people were outstanding. They did not give me the hard sell, and they were technically the best I have dealt with. Paul was amazing and the mechanic even came and explained what he had done. These guys are the best. Give them a try!

Its good the manager reads the reviews it is bad your work model is still in the low star rating. Step it up, you guys are pros, act like it. I see 1 star then 5 stars, If more middle of the road ratings are posted the more believable rating become. Peace

I had ordered a replaced bar battery online and opted to have their service install for the small additional fee. While there, I was given an upsell to replace the battery terminals as they were corroded, along with a warning that this might affect your battery warranty. While I understand mentioning things that should be performed, I dont appreciate the scare tactics to do so, especially when this means turning a minor concern easily addressed into a major issue (including major price.) This just undermines my trust. Ill get parts from them again, but I would be wary of service.

Just thought I should put in my two cents. Not everyone is perfect. There are good days there are off days. But at Pep Boys they strive to make the days good more then not. I personally have not had an issue with the customer service since I started going to Pep Boys. They do a fantastic job and accommodate you where they can. If I could give this place a negative 5 star review I would because they deserve it. I have never been so insulted in my life by the absolute horrible service I received today. I went in there for the first time in my life because I needed a couple tires mounted at 4:20 pm today. I was told it was going to take an hour, so OK cool. I went and did my thing and came back later. I came back and waited around the lobby and after 1 hour and 18 minutes later ( 5:38pm) I went up and asked Juan if my car was ready. Guy looked at me like I was stupid and told me in a very rude tone they are working on it now didnt I tell you that it was going to take an hour and half and now you are here asking me I told him excuse me It has been an hour already and you told me an hour and now you change and tell me an hour and half. Juan said oh well then an hour or hour and half and you have only been here 30 to 45 minutes I told him I have been waiting for more than an hour and he says no no no you are wrong. I told him, so now I am lying??? He said let me check the computer and it will tell me when you REALLY got here. I said ok, he checked and indeed I was right I got here at 4:20 pm and it had been more than an hour. So after about ten minutes I was called by another guy that claimed he was the manager to pay and take my car. I was really uncomfortable and upset that I spoke to him about my experience and all he had to offer was a fake half hearted apology. Never again will I ever set foot in this Pep Boys location, you have lost my business. Spend my hard earned money and be treated like trash and a liar.

They greet you with a smile and handshake and are very respectful of what your needs are for that visit. They are also great with offering return appointments and making sure Im taken care of. I was making a long trip from Philadelphia to Massachusetts when my car broke down in Connecticut and I tried to change my alternator at a hotel near pep boys. After 3 trips of returning to pep boys for tools, I kept cashing out with the same worker and told him Uber was killing my pocket so he went out of his way to bring me to the hotel, greatly appreciated and I got the car running by the way, currently on the road back to Mass, thanks man for turning my day around!

I had an appointment and still ended up waiting an additional hour before I was even seen. You will be standing at the desk and no-one will acknowledge you. If I could rate this particular location lower I would choose the lowest one. Brought my vehicle in for a flat repair on a tire from tires that were purchased at this location. Of course they could never find any information in the system. But that’s fine I said I’ll pay and bring my receipt in another time and get refunded. I already took the bad tire off and drove my car with a donut to this location this way they could just pull the nail plug or patch the hole slap the tire back on. I brought my car in on a Sunday at 4:30. There was an employee car and one person ahead of me. It is now after 6PM and I’m still waiting first for them to even fix the tire and second pay for the service that o should not even be paying for. Worst experience ever I will never bring any of my vehicles back to a pep boys. I suggest better planning and training for your employees. Maybe if you paid the other people a little better they would actually work at the speed of every other place that can patch a tire already off a vehicle in 10 mins. I do not recommend this location to anyone, drive up the street another min and go to Walmart. On top of this they had the nerve to call the cops on me because an employee so my legal concealed carry firearm, the police put me in handcuffs outside because well this place is HORRIBLE!!

Customer service could use some help and education and manners and morals and mutual respect for others, prices need to be lower than the parts store next door and you need to have qualified techs working on peoples cars that actually know whats going on and how to pinpoint things to save time and money for customers seeing Waterbury is dying off daily and competition will kill your business very easy especially in your general area there are 20 shops that do the same thing as your shop but for way cheaper and no return negative business really

Brought my car in for new tires. Had to have it towed out due to a cracked intake manifold. Brought it to my trusted auto shop, Copeland Auto. Turned out the Mass Air Sensor was jarred. They cleaned it, properly installed it, and all was good.EDIT: The regional manager of Pep Boys quickly and professionally rectified the issue. Im increasing my review to 3 stars because dealing with this still needlessly consumed many hours of my life. But I am overall pleased with how management dealt with this issue.EDIT #2: Changing back to 1 star. We brought the car back in to get a hole patched. They told us the tire could not be patched because of the location of the damage. Fair enough, we have the warranty, lets get a new tire. They no longer make the Pep Boys tire we bought only a year ago so all 4 tires have to be replaced. Well, thats what the warranty is for. The warranty only saves us $30 per tire. Well still have to pay over $600 for the tires.EDIT #3: Again, Pep Boys upper management really shines. Theyve rectified the issue in EDIT #2 by compensating my wife some money. While, Im not overly happy with the automotive work they do, they are very fast and fair when it comes to rectifying issues.

Oil change took longer than what they said, and when i asked they said they have the wrong engine size so they had to replace the filter and add more oil. After all that they didn’t put new sticker with the milage due for nxt oil change. It took me 1.5 hours to get oil change done !!

Went in for oil change and to get my ac charged. They did their complimentary service check. My Jeep is maintained. They said I had $2100 of work to be done. And my condenser was shot wont hold a charge. Well my AC still works its been almost 2 months. But now Im missing a bolt in my pulley system and my muffler has a hole in it now. They break your stuff to make you comeback.

Update: My wife ran over a nail and came here to get her tire patched. They told her the tire couldnt be patched because it was too worn out and she needs 4 new tires. Thankfully she didnt believe them and just left. Her tires are less than a year old and we got it patched at Joes tire shop for $20.This place is full of crooks.They claimed my car needed over $1,800 in repairs. One of their repair suggestions (spark plugs replaced) I knew was BS since they were replaced a month ago. Took it elsewhere and paid $40 to get a new ignition coil. Liars. Get a second opinion elsewhere or even better, go somewhere else in the first place.

I told them i just wanted the wheel fixed since my mechanic was out of town. The service desk says they don’t offer that service.
