Bagels sooo good, but you have to get there early l. If you go at 9 a.m. or later, there are gone gone gone. But they are good good good. Good family run business.

Saturday 9am 11.14.20 and stopped in to order a bagel. No bagel selection so ordered a plain bagel. Lenders frozen bagel would have been a better choice. The bagel I received was stale and dry and tasted like it was made yesterday or days ago.I usually frequent the other location. I guess that is where they make the bagels. I will stick to that location.This location is dated, old and tired. Just like the bagel I received today.

Myself, along with friends and family have enjoyed Amis Bagels for decades now..you simply cant beat the quality, texture and flavor of their bagels or cream cheese. Get there early if you want a full selection, they dont hang around for long! Cash only.

I came from out of state visiting family and decided to give this bagel spot a try. The owners are amazing, their customer service is great and the bagels and coffee were delicious. Thank you for such a great experience! Hope you both are able to see this and remember this Jersey Girl! God bless

I was next in line when I noticed the cash only sign. As I was about to leave the gentleman behind the counter asked what can he get for me. I told him nevermind I didnt have any cash. He told me not to worry about it and to order whatever I wanted. I couldnt help but to choke up as I thanked him. Ive never experienced such generosity, specially in a business. As I walked out I told him I would come back to pay him. A few steps out the door and I was literally crying. I couldnt believe there are still genuinely kind hearted people still around. God bless that gentleman and his business. I will be going back to get more of those delicious bagels...with cash of course.

This place is unsanitary. During the pandemic they handle money and bagels without washing hands in between customers. No gloves! To make it so bad the bagels are amazing but not worth getting sick over.

I am so upset! I went there at 9am on a weekday and they had NO MORE BAGELS. NOT ONE SINGLE ONE. The lady says sorry theres no more. Does that make any sense?! This isnt the first time this happened either. They should make more bagels if they know people are going to want to keep buying throughout the day! I saw more people going in after me and I was thinking little do they know. So upsetting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never can go wrong here! The decor doesnt need to be fancy its a bagel shop and your here to taste the best bagels ever! Outside crisp and a soft inside. Love the French toast bagel with the hint of maple, and you cant forget the delicious veggie cream cheese.

Fresh bagels every morning. Quick service, hot fresh bagels, every kind you can imagine: blueberry, French toast, onion, garlic, salt, poppy, sesame, plain, whole wheat, everything, egg, to name a few. Homemade cream cream cheese: strawberry, veg, scallion. They open early enough, close too soon in my opinion, between 10-11 usually, but thats probably because theyre bought out by lunch-very popular spot!

Incredible Bagels. Ask for Double Toasted if you like it crunchy. Great breakfast spot. They could sometimes start running out of bagels at about 11 so get there early. 4 out of 5 for not accepting credit cards and closing early.

I would have posted a picture, but the food didn’t last that long!!! It was amazing! Prices are great and the food is FRESH!! I would choose this over a chain “restaurant” any day!! The bagels were as if they just came out of the oven when I came mid day! Cinnamon raisin bagel has just enough raisins and spices! Also the cream cheese isn’t just plopped on top! I would recommend anyone to come here!*pointers; non-meat establishment 👍🍳

Authentic bagel shop experience - 70’s decor, cash only, and white haired men schmoozing on stools. Only four stars, since they often run out of bagels fast, and because I’ve had better bagels elsewhere. Still a great place.

Love this place & love the staff. Bagels are always fresh & the coffee is excellent. Highly recommend.P.S. - just dont park your car right in front even if youre in and out. Ive probably gotten about 3 tickets. 😩

I really do enjoy their bagels! Honestly, have to be the best bagels in town. I just really wish they did breakfast sandwiches like they do at the other building in Waterbury. And trust me I am one among the many that wants this! Haha I just don’t see why not.. it’s gonna bring them more business anyways

Love these bagels. For those that describes the staff in less than glowing terms or the ambiance as less than ideal, no, this is not a place for hipsters. They put their effort into their food, not the flooring. As for the staff, I used maam and sir and they were very friendly.These bagels were great for our road trip.

Bagels are freshly made, quick service and great prices. Definitely my favorite place to get bagels.

This food is mediocre at best. The service isnt great. Those who live in Connecticut and have never tried NY style bagels tend to think this place is great. Its Average to a New Yorker whos had real bagels. The workers up front taking your orders need to work on their social skills.

Ive never had an issue with the employees (inclined to say Ive had both owners assist me). The bagels are great, like others have said, theyre no NY bagels (and Im a native New Yorker), but so far theyre the best bagels Ive had since moving out here. I would love to give it five stars BUT as another reviewer has said, they are not sanitary when it comes to handling your food and money. No gloves are worn and unless theyve just washed their hands before youve entered, then handle your food followed by the money, dirty hands are cutting and wrapping your bagels. I believe in building your immune system as much as the next guy, but when its a cash only place, and theyre down to the last few bagels by the time I arrive, I can only imagine about the cross contamination. If they invest in gloves, Ill be more than happy to return.

Amis is the best place in the USA for bagels. Ive had them from all over the country and Amis are by far the very best!

The bagels here are delicious. The staff is old fashion but friendly. .....If you want a NY bagel then go to NY and get it.... But if you want an amazing local bagel, Amis is great! 👍

Not the best tasting bagel for me but then again I didnt get anything too special. Just plain with cream cheese. What stood out for me was the fact that they dont take cards and the owner said thats ok next time when I told her I didnt have cash. I hope family owned businesses like these stay in business. Most businesses forget about the human aspect of customer service. This place stood out because they put the customer first. A+

The staff has an attitude, like they are doing me a favor. the bagels are iffy some days there all right and other days the inside is like wet dough. so I wont go back I only have half hour for lunch and to order this and just throw it out complete waste of time money

I love these bagels they are delicious. Then why the low rating you ask. Well they are very unsanitary when it comes to handling your bagel. The same person that takes the money cuts your bagel with NO gloves. And per health department and coming from the restaurant business that should not be happening. Either wear gloves or just one person handle the money and the other the food. Thats the reason I had to give it a 1 star, and stopped going here even if its closer then the East main st one.

I fell in love with these bagels over 20 years ago and there still the same! It is a little disappointing going to your favorite bagel place at 8am and your favorite bagel is gone, but I just call the day before and place an order and pick them up. Staff is very friendly!

Just went in there today and the young lady taking your order collecting your money is making the bagels using the same gloves and not changing them and I watched it time and time again in front of me, Not good! I left!
