I placed an order with Fisk Avenue for a custom farmhouse style outdoor patio table on 6/24/20. Joel Ellington advised that the table would be done within 4-6 weeks. He assured me that it would be made to withstand the elements and would have a 1 warranty on any issues that arose. I provided clear instruction on how I wanted to table to be stained. After multiple follow ups, Joel finally advised the table was ready on 8/18/2020 (almost 8 weeks after order). He sent photos of the finished project and despite the clear instructions, it was not the right color. After my request for a refund, he agreed to paint over the stain (which likely was a corner cut but I agreed). This required additional time and he finally delivered it on 8/26/2020 (9.5 weeks after order). On the first use, one of the end pieces broke. I did not want to make a big deal out of it and my husband repaired the issue. We had the table on the outdoor patio for approximately 1.5 months then it was stored in the garage over the winter. When we pulled the table out this spring (mid-April 2021), the wood was warped, pieces of the wood were lifting, and wobbled. When we moved it from the garage to the patio the entire top disconnected from the bottom. I reached out to Joel and requested a refund citing my concerns. We only used this table outdoors for less than 2 months and it was already showing significant issues. He declined the refund but agreed to repair the issues under the warranty. He set two separate dates for repair of the table. Both times he failed to show. Now he is completely non-responsive.This was the biggest waste of $1,250.00 I have ever spent. Do not waste your time or money with Fisk Avenue. His lack of professionalism is astounding, and his product is subpar.
We attended one of their classes and came away with a great product for sure, but the experience was great fun too! Joel is friendly, patient, and super helpful. What a cool way to spend an evening.
They do amazing custom furniture! If you want something uniquely handcrafted, this is the place to go to!
Great shop and had a good time with my my mom doing a work shop.
We got a dog kennel made by Fisk and I think I began singing their praises before we even got our kennel. And once I got the kennel I’ve just been singing the praises louder! They made me one that is even better than anything I searched for online. And the price was more than fair! I will be using them for the rest of my custom design needs and recommending everyone else I meet to do so as well!
We had a custom table created for our new house. Couldnt be happier with the overall experience and end result. The quality of the table and bench is amazing! Joel was easy to work with, and the pricing was better than I expected going in. Would definitely buy from again and recommend to anyone looking for quality furniture at a fair price. Thanks for making this process easy. We love our new table.
I reached out to Fisk Avenue looking for them to build be a custom vanity for my bathroom renovation. After waiting an obscene amount of time for it I was not happy with the results. As soon as it arrived in my home, I wanted to send it straight back. For starters the sealant on the wood top was not sufficient. All you could see were streaks. There is no way that whatever he used was going to hold up to any amount water. Secondly, the materials that were used the cabinet was complete plywood! Spending the kind of money, I did, I expected something more than cheap particle board. I went to Fisk Avenue because to try to keep things local... biggest mistake I ever made. The only positive experience I had with them is that their staff is friendly. But friendly staff doesn’t mean quality work. I am beyond disappointed with the quality if their work.
Joel the owner is a real snake. I worked at this place and after doing great work for him he never even paid me my last pay check. All I hear is people having had unpleasant experiences with Joel. Not a good person
Be leery. A while back I ordered a reclaimed dining table from Joel (Fisk Avenue). I have a fourth-generation farmhouse, and the majority of my furniture is reclaimed. I went to Joel on a recommendation from a friend, I thought this would be a perfect fit. The table ended up having a few minor joinery issues but nothing too severe. About a month after I got it home, I noticed something underneath the table. There was a heat-treated stamp on the bottom of one of the table top boards. Obviously reclaimed barnwood, DOES NOT have heat-treated stamps on them. I paid a lot of money to have this made from reclaimed barnwood, and in so many words I got shafted. I attempted to reach out to Joel, but never heard back. Disappointing, especially after being recommended.
The work is beautiful and very friendly atmosphere
