Todd, Martha and the entire staff are pleasant and knowledgeable of product and or its demonstration. A great variety of items and if not in stock offer options or ordering.Love the fact that Grand ave is opening up so that its easy to get to my local hardware stop!

A great neighborhood store for everyone from South of Grand to Valley Junction folks and everyone in between. The friendly staff go above and beyond to help out customers. Been going there for over 40 years now.

Rare actual hardware store is real handy as opposed to getting lost in Lowe’s. But if you’re making a key for someone don’t take a 10 minute customer phone call stopping work and then walk away to help other customers.And dont blow off the customer concern when raised to staff. I actually worked in a hardware store for years in my youth and you just dont treat customers like this. It defeats the purpose of the convenience.That said I will continue patronizing this store in hopes they are more on the ball in future.

Worst rental department in the metro. Do not rent from them. Last year they rented a walk behind out from under me and promised me a free rental. They lost my paperwork so no free rental to make up for their mistake. Today I re Ted the walk behind again, and a tire blew on the trailer about 40 miles from their store. They told me they were to busy to help and drive it in on the blown tire. Sorry to whoever rented this tomorrow but I’m sure it won’t be available for you to rent. Service manger is incompetent and so are all the high school kids working there.

The selection is above avg. The quality of the named brand product rates high as well. The staff is knowledgeable. Im on my way there now for a set of wrenches. The store is well organized and clearly marked.Its centrally located for the West Des Moines area as well the western edge of downtown .Des Moines.Ill be walking this morn just a couple of miles . I recommend the store for your hardware needs and the walk for the exercise.

Easy to navigate and always helpful, friendly employees! You can easily get almost ANYthing sent to the store for pickup with the True Value app, too. Pretty great. AND supporting a small biz is VERY important now and always.

I went to Menards, Home Depot and Lowes today and spent hours looking for a lock nut that evidently is very uncommon. Went in to True Value and in two seconds Joe got me set up. Great customer service thank you Joe, True Value will be my first stop from now on

Good store. Has a lot of oddball stuff you need. A little pricy sometimes. They have a great rental section. Its surprising what all they have packed in that place. The guy working rentals and repairs is great. Most of the people there are great

The website for THIS store said that had a certain product IN STOCK... So I drove clear to the other side of town only to n find that they did not have it. I past 3 places on the eat there that DID have it in stock.

I have been a Satisfied customer of True Value for many years. However, the last time I was there none of the employees were wearing masks and that made me very uncomfortable. I will not be going back for awhile....

Wanted to speak to rental department to rent a power washer. When I called this True Value store on Grand and asked to speak to rental department I was told they were to busy did I want to call back later? That is about as poor of customer service as you can get, did not offer to take my information or ask if they could help. I used to frequent this store when I lived in WDM and always had great service, obviously that is no longer true about this True Value on Grand. Don’t recommend going there

I recommend this hardware store to all my single lady friends. The employees and Todd, the manager will help with advice and product info so I can complete projects myself. Rented a slushee machine for a party. When we got it home it had frayed wires, tripped the breaker, and one side leaked liquid all over the floor. When we took it right back they blamed the damage on us and refused to give back rental fee.

I spoke with the manager Todd and he was just wonderful! He was very knowledgeable about everything and helped me a lot. I had a great experience here and will definitely be back!!

Knowledgeable staff, I always go here if I know I will need some guidance. They have a lit of rental equipment, they make keys. I went in to have a battery changed in a key fob once, the guy asked to see my fob, showed me how to open it myself and where the batteries were that fit.

Todd and his crew truly value their customers and go out of their way to provide great service. They really helped us out in a bind. Good to see business owners who are willing to go the extra mile for their customers and community. They have our business from here on out. Thanks a bunch!

Great customer service. Free delivery for purchases over $300. Easy to pop in and out. A nice retro candy selection.

Not very helpful and didnt greet me.

Stopped in yesterday and was very happy with the staff. They were more than willing to help me with my bike hitch.

Asked staff in lawn and garden for insight on lawn fertilizer, was pointed to the most costly option. Upon flipping the bag over the active ingredients were the EXACTLY the same as the much cheaper option. Im not saying they are dishonest but the customer service wasnt great. Also, check what you are renting before you leave the store. The fertilizer spreader I rented was damaged and inoperable, had to return for a replacement. Perhaps they can check equipment when returned?

Feels more like a small town hardware store feel. Always helpful and they still offer services to replace screens and cut glass to size.

This is my go-to spot for any size nut, bolt or screw. They have a multitude of different threads, metric and standard. All different pitches that a person might ever need. Plenty of very knowledgeable staff walking around so its always a pleasure to go there and get what Im looking for.

I love this true value because the staff is always right by the door when you walk in and immediately asks what they can help you find. They will literally walk you to the aisle, point out what your looking for, and then do that with every item you’re looking for if you need it. The staff is knowledgeable and Rick, the person that cuts keys and is in the back little repair shop is especially willing to help and is always smiling! I tend to feel overwhelmed at hardware stores sometimes with all the options, but I’ve always been given sound advice when I ask for help and they are never condescending.

Just moved to neighborhood walked into your store 2 guys at the front no other customers. We made eye contact. There was no hello or may we help you. I preceeded to plumbing supplies - needed advice --no one showed up. Truly believe I probably will spend a couple grand at another place. To ready our new home.

I think we can all agree on the pros and cons of big box stores versus mom and pop shops, so Ill set that aside.My experience surrounds the helpful and ultra-savvy staff who knew exactly what I was needing and answered my questions in plainly spoken manner. I started over the phone by explaining what I was looking for--the individual went and sought out the colors/styles/sizes available in the store and priced them out for me so I could weigh the pros and cons before I even came to the store! I live downtown, but regularly make the trip to this store anyway due to their helpful nature.

The staff was nice but their metal detector was junk! If youre looking for a metal detector go to Sunbelt Rentals. They have a nice one that worked well.

Apparently women dont get helped, or asked if they need help to find anything, but men get chased down by male staff. I finally asked a stranger, and fellow shopper, for help finding an item.I will be avoiding this location for anything but emergency needs.

Called after hours inquiring about an item and the lady told me to call back in the morning this literally would have taken less than one minute to figure out if it is in the store or not. But she hung up before I could say anything word, will be taking to the management here to say the least piss poor customer service

Ive always had a good experience in this store. Everyone is very helpful and I cant say theres anything they dont have repair-wise.

Called this store and asked if they had ReRack dishwasher rack repair. I was told they did and it would cost $5.99. When I got to the store, no one knew where to find the ReRack. I had to find it myself but at least the price was showing $5.99 as I was told over the phone. When I checked out, the price magically went to $6.50! I told the clerk the price shows 5.99 on the shelf. She just replied do you want it or not?. When I told her I had to have it but I would never come back to her store, she could not have cared less.
