I had a good experience here. I purchased a new Honda generator here over the phone, and when I picked it up they had already prepped it for me so I wouldnt have to add the oil myself. Its not a big deal to add the oil, but it is nice that they did and tested the unit. They also showed me how to use it. This was my first time here, and Im glad to support a local family business rather than go to a major chain store. I also bought here because they are a Honda service provider in case I need service someday. The price I paid was the same as it would have been at a major chain store.

Transparency up front. I am not a customer. However, Keith Peterson’s YouTube videos giving no-fluff and very informative descriptions are excellent. I had a question for Keith about some snowblowers. I do not live in NJ and even though it was clear I would not be a customer, Keith was very quick and helpful to reply to help me choose the right machine for me. I think if I lived remotely close to NJ I would make the drive just to buy form Keith’s shop. Thank you, Keith.
Excellent service.I’ve been working with these guys for several years. Their products are high quality and they know them very well.We are equally happy with our air filter and vacuum, as we are with our lawn equipment. Also, I’ve taken my mower to get its blade sharpened and never had it cut better.
I expected more...I brought in a portable generator for recall service. A few weeks later I call to check on the status and I am told that the replacement part has still not arrived from Honda. They will call me back when all is ready.Another five or so weeks go by and I dont hear anything so I call again. It turns out my generator fell off the radar and has still not been serviced. They assure me it will be serviced soon and it should be ready in a few days. If that is where the story ended I wouldnt have bothered to write this review.Few days later I get a call that it is ready and I happily go to pick it up. Upon receiving the generator back I find that it is covered in scratches and small dents on almost all sides. When I dropped off the generator it was in pristine condition, with zero damage!!! I only bought it for sustained power outages and had never used it aside from one or two times when I fired it up to test it out - ever since it was purchased it has been sitting in my garage, with a cover on it. What happened?There was no explanation given as to how this damage occurred (I surely asked for one). I would agree that cosmetic damages to the generator would not necessarily affect the operation of the unit but now I have to wonder what really happened to the generator while it was sitting in the shop for so long. Was it dropped or dragged around? I am not even sure if that is my generator (my mistake for not taking a picture of it with the serial number during drop off).It is disheartening to see how someone handled practically a brand new generator. I paid more than $1000 of my hard earned money and it is sad to see that someone couldnt care less about the condition the unit was going to be returned to me.I will look elsewhere if I need to service my Honda equipment again.
Weve been going to Petersen since 1996. Bought our first and only snow blower there, and its still working. Same with our lawn mower, you cant go wrong at Petersen.

I bought a leave blower, vacuum, and generator here. The price is the similar to The big box stores, but you get the service attention of a local business.They service what they sell too. I highly recommend!

My wife and I were looking for a Lawn Mower.The entire staff, was really nice to us, they were very helpful, answered all our questions and recommended the right product for our needs.It wasnt as cheap as buying from Home Depot, but you get what you pay for.Besides, my wife is really into shop local :)
Buy elsewhere.Ive lived in the area and done business with them for more than 35 years. They were once reliable, but not any longer.Last year I bought an Echo back pack blower from them, even though a similar blower at home depot would have cost less. I believed that I would receive better service from a local business that also serviced it products -- I was wrong.The blower has a 5 year warranty. The engine froze the second time I used it this year. I expected to bring it back and have it repaired or replaced in a timely manner. This isnt happening. Petersens is doing everything they can to delay servicing the machine and does not appear to have any intention of living up to the warranty.
My backpack blower was stalling out. I brought it in on Sat and got it back on Tuesday. The cost was same as the estimate they gave me on Sat!Repair, cost and timing were all very good....which is great, but the clincher is that I got the feeling from the 3 people I dealt with that they really wanted my business.A good place to shop....and I really dont shop in westfield due to aggressive meter readers.

Expert and cost-effective repair to my Ladybug 2150 steam cleaner. The unit now runs as good as new and probably better than when new and the owner and staff could not have been nicer.
After buying a snow blower from them, apparently it takes six weeks to service it!I guess its my fault and I should service it in the summer. Beacuse thats when you really need a snow blower!!

I took my vacuum in to be cleaned. They quoted me a price of $40. I also asked them to fix the plug. They said it would take a few days. After one week I hadnt heard from them so I called to check in and they said that they were waiting on the cord to come in. My fault for not asking the price then. But a week after that they finally called and said it was be ready. When I showed up to get it, they said that it would be an extra $125. They never called to tell me it would be that much additional. When I complained, they said sorry. Cold comfort. Had I known it would be so much, I would have replaced the plug myself with a part from Home Depot.Follow-up: Keith Peterson was kind enough to call me up about the situation. He gave us a box of vacuum bags to make up for the confusion.
