I just purchased the items I had originally wanted. I let the salesperson guide me to purchase trish mcevoy gel eyeliner which I initially did not want but ended up purchasing to try the brand on their recommendation. I was overwhelmed by the salespeople and in the end I accidentally received the classic eyeliner. I know it’s easy to return but I am at work. Westport is not easy to get around anymore and it’s a mistake that could have been avoided. I cannot believe I’m going to say this but I wish I was ignored until I could purchase the items I wanted Now I am stuck with the wrong purchase. Inconvenienced to say the least. The salespeople are very helpful just too much for me.
I was surprised they dont take cash as payment. Disappointed
I LOVE this store and go there often to stock up on my cosmetics. It is a real treasure trove of special perfumes and cosmetics. Expensive indeed, but that is always the case with special beauty products. I have found the ladies of the staff always friendly and helpful and we joke and chat together. I see some fairly mean reviews on this string - it may also be because clients go in with a certain preconceived idea about the Blue Mercury stores or are just having a bad day. I for one have never had bad service. Thank you Ladies!!

The selection is fine, but the staff is the rudest, bitchiest women I’ve ever encountered. Also, they didn’t have any knowledge of the products. At other stores, staff members help you select makeup that compliments your skin tone etc- here, a sales associate told me to “ pick heather you like” when I asked about a foundation. Overall, the staff shoul all be replaced, and then I would go back. Until then, I’ll go to another store.
My wife went to the Westport store this afternoon and came home very upset.She inquired about returning an expensive, damaged lipstick, and was verbally assaulted by the salesperson in a loud offensive way.She spends well over one thousand dollars a year there, not that that should entitle her to different treatment, although given the fact that she is a familiar customer in the store, you would think they would be more helpful.The salesperson embarrassed her in front of several customers, in a loud and condescending manner.When are all the bad reviews of this location going to force corporate to make changes in personnel?
Bought a mascara from Blue Mercury to find it dried up. Brought it back with my receipt and the clerk said, This is what the mascara looks like and opens a tester to show me. If it looked creamy like the tester, I wouldnt have brought it back. I said, So you wont refund my money even though I have the days old receipt? and she said, No, because it doesnt look like the mascara in the tester, (meaning creamy consistency), said the heavy-set clerk whos name begins with M, who kept repeating herself.I started to walk away, still facing them and her and (another clerk (tall/slender woman) standing by her side) started laughing in my face. Ive driven to get good service from other stores that sell Chanel, due to previous bad service from Blue Mercury clerks that feel indifferent, and at best they tend to have luke-warm personalities. Most of them are not very helpful and its consistent. Plenty of people have complained that theyre not friendly and like to stand around instead of doing their job. Often the store is out of merchandise.Theres no having to go back to Blue Mercury because there are plenty of better choices. Other stores have better prices because they have sales, have better hours (BM closes by 6 p.m.), stock their merchandise, and have knowledgeable staff thats helpful and friendly. Theres also online shopping.
Not for the faint at heart prices are out of this world but worth every penny

Ive had the same experience there. Sales representatives are snarky and caddy. This is Westport. You need to bring out the big guns with customer service and never judge a book by its cover if you want to have a great clientele base and reach your targeted sales. Ive purchased in New Canaan before because I absolutely love Mario Badescus skin and body care line. Had a similar experience their about a year ago but, when I walked in to this location I just wasnt as desperate for product so I didnt make a purchase. I know the line so now I order directly from him. Its sad to say that every blue mercury location Ive been to in ct (3) has given me the same poor customer service.

The service in this store makes you wish you used mail order from another company! Snotty, no service, no free samples.
I think the customer service here is horrible, I went in with my wife, she tried to redeem $20 coupon they gave her some weeks back, and it took 20 minutes of calling the regional manager, the store staff was clueless, impolite, unhelpful .At one point the store manager asks the regional manager on her cellphone “I’m not sure what to do !”Lady, how about giving customer service !!!Next time, online shopping .No wonder this store is no match to sephora .
