I have been a loyal customer of Whips automotive for more than 6 years. Any time I come in, I am always greeted by the owner (Lefty) who is very kind and welcoming. Employees are also very friendly and knowledgeable. Vitalik mostly of the time is the one who takes care of my car. They had been always helping me with my old car and now with a new one. I am a girl who doesnt know a lot about cars, so every time when something goes wrong with my car, Whips is my place to go. They have fair and honest pricing for service. Every and any time its a great experience with those guys. They have a multilingual employees which is amazing and extremely helpful for people who dont speak English. If I could give infinity out of 10, I would! These guys are honest with you, handle themselves very professional, and have great rates. Had a door replaced and other parts on the car fixed up after it got a real deep cut. Then also went to fix a broken windshield wiper and was in and out in around 39 minutes. I know where to go for any car troubles or repairs in the future. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Honest and reliable mechanic. Family owned and no BS kinda shop. The only spot I’d recommend on the north shore. I called Lefty at around 4:45pm and they were able to fit me right in (while they were still working on cars and people were coming in and out, as it’s Thursday night and very busy) to swap out my battery (my car died while I was at autozone and instead of picking up a battery there, I just got jumped and drove straight to Whips. Best decision ever.) I was at autozone trying to fix a front headlight that has damage to the wiring and headlight assembly, and the guys at Whips took care of it for me and honestly took such a weight off my shoulders in such a short amount of time. They are honest about what needs done, will figure out the best way to do in it in the shortest amount of time for the least amount of money, and best value. They are very busy but different than other shops because of how upfront they are. They go out of their way to show you what the problem is so you can get better equipped with how your car works. They don’t try to take advantage of you, they try to resolve your issue for as cheap/ quick/ best as possible, and then leave you with an understanding of what happened and what the remedy was. I want to add that Lefty matched the price of the battery and upgraded it for cheaper than it would have been at autozone or elsewhere. In addition to the headlight fix, and labor because in order to change my battery, a few parts need to be taken off as it’s nearly inside the wheel well, I paid far less than I would have anywhere else, and it was done in less than an hour. From now on, I won’t take my car anywhere else to be serviced unless it’s an absolute emergency. These guys are the best. I was weary of mechanics but honestly, this shop is amazing.

Best shop ever. My dad has been coming here a long time, and I started coming a while ago as well. I come all the way from Chicago for him! His prices are very reasonable. I have been to many different shops. Most of them try to add things on or say things are necessary RIGHT NOW that aren’t to try to get me to spend money. As a young single mom, I’m happy that I have a shop that tells me what my car needs and what it doesn’t. Im on a SUPER tight budget and Lefty is honest with me about what I need immediately and what I can hold off on. And what’s not necessary at all. Best shop. I will always make the drive for his shop and if my car breaks down, I don’t care where I am. I’d have it towed here. Love lefty and all his staff

Family owned and operated, in which Ive developed a great relationship with over the years. Every time I need service for anything, they say bring it in and I get it back the same day! I have been serving my large box trucks for my business with them 8 years and havent had to look anywhere else, just to check if the price is right, because it is!!! Lefty replaced my starter motor on the same day I brought the car in for service. It has been starting great ever since (over a month ago). I recommend Whips Automotive for the quality of their work.I’m adding to my review that I had them replace my harmonic damper and serpentine belt on 8-2-2021. The quality of the repair work is still very good. My engine hasn’t been this quiet in months.

Honest. Competent. Attention to detail. Lefty might seem a little rough around the edges, but he is a genuinely sincere person and he knows his business. Probably the most competent and honest mechanic I have ever dealt with -- and I have lived in 6-states. His standards are VERY high and he does not cut corners. If he says your car needs this or that, it does; he is not trying to take you. He supervises his team with an eagle eye and personally inspects every bit of work that he does not do himself. This shop will never cheat you and their work is superb. If they get it wrong, they own-up to their mistakes and always make it right. I would recommend Whips to anybody with just about any make of car. RPK

I HATE BMW, but I LOVE Whips. Whips estimate for a whole slew of repairs, was 10% of the dealerships estimate. Ten percent! Obviously I came here, and the car is running better than it has in years. I cant say enough good things about this repair shop.

These guys are the best of the best. Im a car guy and I always work on my car when I possibly can, but when there is something I cant take care of or I cant figure out, Whips is my go to Shop. They work on any and all model cars, but the family is known in the Hummer world as some of the top experts on Hummer H1s. Ive taken my Hummer H1, H2, Jeep, Nissan, and any car Ive ever owned to these guys, and always recommend them to my friends and family. If there is one thing I hate in this world, its mechanics that rip people off, bill you for things you dont need, or services they didnt perform. WHIPS always gives you the most honest service around, and explains to you every detail of their diagnosis, repairs, etc prior to you agreeing to it, which is something I highly appreciate. The whole staff is friendly, courteous, straightforward, and most importantly...they know what the heck they are talking about and what their doing! I live 20 minutes from here and there are dozens of other mechanic shops much closer to my home, but Whips will always have my business. If your looking for a full-service auto shop, save your time searching and just go to Whips.

If I could offer 10 stars I would. Lefty here, as well as Sam and Dave at the Tire Chief adjacent to WHIPS are very professional, and good at what they do. My daughters 2002 Mazda 626 needed tires and BOOM, we got them withing hours. She also had some nagging engine trouble and it was taken care of in one day! Lefty, Sam and Dave are very reasonably priced and do the job they are asked, no add ons, no questions asked. I am disabled and I am glad I can get old school trust in a 21st Century world! I will go back to them every time now!

Lefty and his family are the most knowledgable mechanics I know. We only have import cars and we only come to Lefty with repairs, modifications, or questions. They NEVER price gouge, and I have NEVER had to come back to them after a repair. I follow Lefty wherever he goes and only trust his people with my cars!

Had to use them through AAA for a tire change. There were many obstacles and they were so amazing getting the job done! Can’t say enough about Dave and what he did to get the job done!!!

Not a good place to take a classic car!! I brought my 64 Impala since it was leaking oil and they told me it was the manifold so I decided to let them fix it. I picked it up and told me everything was good to go so two days later after driving it it was still leaking oil and they said that they would fix it. I got a call that it was done and told me that it was done right the second time around and that it wouldnt leak well they took the manifold off and this time they took off the valve covers and put about a whole tube or two of rtv on everything very sloppy!!!! They charged me like $700 for a b.s. job and it still leaks!!!!! So I took it to a shop that knows what they are doing and wouldnt screw me out of my money!!!! I wouldnt recommend this place even if they did free work!!!! Not every car or person gets the same treatment. Plain and simple this place just looks at you as a dollar sign and how much they can get out of you.
