Delicious European Home Made meals!! The Schnitzel is 👌 tastes exactly like it does in Germany. The owner is super friendly and pleasant to chat with with. Oh and did I mention European beers??

Susan and I ate here for our first meal inside a restaurant since March 2020. We just happened to drive by, saw some good reviews, and thought wed give it a try. We both got omelettes and they were great! The homemade bread also made wonderful toast. The lunch and dinner menu have ethnic dishes that look interesting, I expect well give them a try. The dessert case looked delicious and the owner said she makes all of them. A nice family run restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere.

I decided to have my new years eve dinner here. When I went in the place was almost empty. I thought I made a mistake choosing this place, but now Im glad I did. I ordered the wiener schnitzel, it was super good. It went well with the sides; potato salad and bread. The owner is a good character and friendly.

The owner/waiter/cook is incredibly rude. We went there for the first time a couple of years ago. After waiting over an hour for our food we left. My mom and I decided to try it again. The owner/ waiter/ cook argued when I said my stuffed pepper was cold. Went on for a good 20 minutes talking about covid and his conspiracy theories. All we did was ask for the check. My mom had luke warm stuffed cabbage. She ate half and brought the rest home. She ended up throwing it out after getting sick that night. We cringe whenever we drive past. Literally the worst experience weve ever had.

One star is too high for this place.My mom went here to pick up food. The owner invited her into the kitchen. When she went to leave, he attempted to grab her from behind and kissed her on the neck.Doesnt matter how the food is. This man has no place running a business. Id recommend spending your money anywhere else

I came from chicago for a soccer trip and all the breakfast places had huge wait times, found this place which had great homemade food and extremely good hospitality and service. It takes a lot for me to write a review and this place is definitely worth it. I highly recommend everyone to try it.

Amazing homemade food made with love you can taste. The owner is very passionate about the food and cars about his customers. Food tasted just like how older family with German and Polish descent used to cook and was very nostalgic.

If youre looking for amazing home cooked European food youve got to give Cafe Europa bistro a try. This was our first time here and it definitely wont be our last. We decided to dine in and ordered the chicken paprikash and wienerschnitzel along with a few adult beverages. Our meal started off with a delightful salad and homemade fresh bread that was out of this world. We then got our dinners which were so full of flavor and delicious! We ended the meal with apiece of teramsu and black Forrest cake before rolling ourselves out to the car. This was a wonderful place to eat and Johan was or a perfect host!

Stopped by for lunch. Friendly service. I felt at home next to a few regulars. If you grew up in grandmas kitchen and are ready for some fine Eastern European food then you need to stop by. Everything was fresh with a homemade flare.

As an American-Hungarian, this place is fantastic. Super tasty meals! I’ve had the Chicken Paprikash and it blew me away. The owners are super friendly and down to Earth. They put their heart and soul into their old-world dishes and desserts. Consider me a regular customer! Support local restaurants like this! A must have in Willoughby!

We went last Sun and everything changed. The owner while trying to be nice is quite misogynistic. The cabbage rolls were crunchy and had almost no meat. Everything else was just ok. Oh and owner was so busy talking he forgot our salads which came w the meal. Needless to say we will not be returning in the near future which makes me sad. I walked by Cafe Europa twice this morning and was compelled to go in and explore. The menu is quite interesting so I decided to order the German Breakfast which is supposed to be 2 eggs, German sausage (tasted like hillshire farms kielbasa), sausage links (mine had 2 patties) German potatoes (hashbrowns like they have at Dennys) and homemade bread. I also asked them to add what they offer on the Healthy Breakfast-tomatoes and asparagus. They had no asparagus but offered spinach an acceptable substitution.I was then intrigued by the pastry case forcing me to order Berlin Squares (a kinda of chocolate torte with pie crust rather than cake layers) and French Cheese (a kind of phyllo dough cheese danish only not at all as sweet). I have photos of the above two.I will go again, but I was not entirely impressed. The youngster behind the counter was nice and accomodating though as was the cook which is why I will go back.

Mine and my husbands favorite spot to relax, and enjoy some great food in a intimate setting. We love the owner who is always friendly and makes us feel at home. The homemade bread is so delicious. The desserts are out of this world. We will continue coming to this great restaurant to enjoy the great food, drinks and company. Thank you🙂

Went for just desserts. Had a Decaff and a piece of cherry strudel was very good. The wife had a piece of tiramisu that was also very good. Unfortunately I didnt take any photos.

Am Hungarian & Italian, was raised with my grandparents cooking Paprikash,Stuffed Cabbage,Kievliefs,and all the yummies. I stumbled on this place,when I saw the outside sign advertising Paprikash and Weiner Schnitzel.I ordered 2dinners(Chicken Paprikash).The sweet older man took my order,and told me---his wife& himself cook all of the dishes. I was so happy with the Chicken Paprikash.It was just like how my grandma made when I was little. EVERYTHING WAS SO yummy & the portions were enough for me& my two kids& some leftovers!!! My youngest, is super picky. But she even liked.I will DEFINITELY be back here. The inside is very clean,and cozy---it looks just like home!!! Tables are all clean, the pastries are yummy in the front fridge in the window ❤️ The owner is so friendly and kind. A must go! Authentic Homestyle Cooking!

This star is overrated.I was in Cafe Europa today and had dinner with my daughter and her husband. The food was just ok. The meal was to include salad and bread, with the meal. I, also, ordered a bowl of soup, I got the soup and then the meal, so I assumed that the owner had swapped the soup for the salad. First mistake. When I got the bill I was charged for the soup, full price.Then I asked, the owner, why I did not receive the salad, second mistake, he proceeded to tell me, that for the eighteen years he has been in business, no one has wanted both the soup and the salad with their meals.I told him that since I was charged for the soup I would like the salad, my third mistake. Then the owner went into a tirade about How he gave me extra food, which didnt happen, and that the other people I was with got their salads, which doesnt have anything to do with my situation, made no sense.I suppose that there must be a two salad limit at each table so I must have forfeited mine. That is the only reason I can think of.I suppose He got his way because I eventually paid the bill, wasnt leaving a tip, and left talking to myself. Fourth mistake.The owner was rude about the whole thing and did a lot of muttering, that I could not understand, shrugged his shoulders a lot, and repeated that no one wants soup and salad with their meals.Now I suppose you are asking, Would I go back there ? Take a wild guess.If you want rude, very slow service, so-so food that should be a little cheaper, and not get what is written on the menu, go there and aggravate yourself,Otherwise try some place else.The choice is yours.Caveat Emptor.

OMG. Homemade bread warm and sliced thick. Stuffed cabbage soup with mashed potatoes. If I could have eaten anymore, I would have. Oh and homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade spatzle noodles. What a wonderful gem tucked away just off the. I-90 east.

Found this place looking for somewhere new to take my family. So happy we found it! You go in and are immediately greeted at the door by the owner who treats you as if hes known you for years and has been expecting you. He sat us down and its like youre over at your neighbors house for dinner. The owner took great care of us and we had a great conversation with him and even shared a few drinks together. He makes you feel so welcome and was the highlight of our evening.On top of the great atmosphere and hospitality, the food is incredible. It reminded me of being in my Nanas kitchen. You can just tell that the woman making it puts so much love and care into her food. The bread is homemade and fluffy and delicious and she butters and toasts it for you. I could have just eaten the bread all night and been completely satisfied. I had the chicken paprikash which was wonderful. After dinner we had desserts as well, which were also fantastic.After we left my family said whenever they come back in town this is where they want to come from now on. We cant wait to come back!

My husband and I found this place yesterday by accident. What a pleasant surprise. It is rare when you have a reasonably priced meal that wows you. After this meal I said wow. We had soup instead of salad which I recommend. The soup was delicious as was the bread. I had cabbage rolls and my husband had the pork chop, delicious....We took bakery home, also delicious. Maybe the salad dressing isnt home made but everything else was. Great food for a fair price. We will go back often!

We felt very welcomed by the owner. The place is very clean and quiet. I was quite happy with my meal--and everything tasted homemade except the salad dressing which Im pretty sure was Wishbone Italian. Im not going to fault them for that, but I was a little underwhelmed by the side salad in general. Prices are reasonable and so are the portion sizes. Only those with a massive appetite would feel unsatisfied. Overall a good meal and experience. I was debating on whether to give 4 stars because the salad wasnt great, but the owner is so hospitable I had to let it slide.

The food was very good. I had the Weiner Schnitzel and a few dessert items. If anything the service was a bit slow, but not atypical for a European Cafe. I was not in a rush so did not mind at all, especially the food and atmosphere was so nice! Would recommend.

This is a little hidden gem! This is a German owed restaurant and everything is homemade and delicious! We had the Walleye, which my boyfriend thought was amazing and I had the chicken alfredo. Italian wedding soup very tasty. The owner is so friendly. This is a place to definitely check out. We will be back soon!

Great breakfast, homemade pastries and Anna is very personable and great cook. I think the dining room needs a more welcoming dining room feeling. A nice sit down menu with table service would also create a more welcoming feeling to couples and families. The food is great and would be nice to eat in a environment like that 😉

So happy I discovered this place today! I had a lovely glass of wine, some homemade chicken noodle soup and bread, couldnt leave without trying a couple of things from the bakery. The owner is such a kind man and an amazing cook with great taste. Also very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back soon!

Authentic homemade European cooking in a charming, cozy restaurant near I-90 and SOM Center. Wienerschnitzel was tender and well seasoned and the portions were very generous. Make sure to leave room for dessert from the selection of European bakery items.

Really nice and welcoming owner, however food needs a lot of improvement. Bland and spiceless, small portions. Wiener schnitzel with rice and cold potato salad its failed attempt to mash German and American/Asian kitchens. Their tiny fish sandwich for 12$ also did not impress.

The food is absolutely amazing. Could not get fresher Unless you made it yourself.Prices are reasonable, the owner is a great guy. He makes a point to come out and talk to you and make sure your dinner was OK. Hes very friendly and truly means it.

The atmosphere is phenomenal here. Really takes you back to a little European shop. The owner is primary laborer here, and he is certainly a little gruff, but a nice gentleman if you get to talking with him. Hes got that unintentional European rudeness, that isnt rudeness at all, but simply cultural differences.The food was good, we got a wiener schnitzel and a soup and were not disappointed in the size or the quality, although the waiter/owner did seem disappointed that we were splitting it and not getting two separate meals.The ambience here makes it a place where you want to relax and spend a day, and the owner says that he is totally fine with that.

Great old country European cuisine, served with a smile by the proud owner of the establishment. Food is all prepared on site the old fashioned way, from scratch, from the old world recipes. Nice beer and wine selection. Not sure what you want? Hell help you decide. Great desserts. We had the cherry strudel. Open at 6am for breakfast too.

This was our first time and I have to say we were impressed. The food was delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be returning for more great food. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Ordered the broccoli noodles with bread. Food was delicious and owner is very nice. One star off because the prices on the website do not match the prices at the store. Website posted $8.50 and was charged $9.50. Owner offered to give the dollar back and I declined.Portion size is quite small as well. I did not feel full after eating and I am generally a light eater.

Great atmosphere and the food was delicious. You have to try the California chicken sandwich for lunch. The chicken is moist and flavorful. They add some mango jelly that really compliments the dish. The guy who served us was a little impersonal, but everything went well so Im happy with the experience overall.

I got stranded in Willoughby for a while on a visit. Everyone who worked here was absolutely enjoyable. Since I was there for a while, I got to try breakfast, dinner, and desert and everything tasted fabulous. They make the best baklava I have ever had. The food is amazing.If you are looking for a quiet place to study with internet access and great company and atmosphere this is 100% the place to go. I look forward to going back!

This is the place to go if you want European home cooking. The entrees all come with a salad to start and the portions are a good size. The grilled bread that came with our meal tasted like it was baked today. The owner greeted us and was very nice, you can tell he was passionate about his business.

This bistro is emaculatly clean. All food is home made and healthy, little salt and little sugar. The owner Johan is polite and professional.

Chia tea was cold coffee was cold and i did get my dinner till we were ready to go and everyone else was finished. All dinners said they came with salad but when we ask for one he acted like he was doing us a favorite. Very disfunctional not a good server.

I’ve been here several times, and every time, the food and service was exceptional! The owner is very hospitable and you honestly feel right at home.

Needed lunch on the go and coffee. This was the closest place and it sounded good. Not a great experience. The Monte Cristo sandwich is a cold ham and processed Swiss sandwich with a handful of chips for $6.50. The iced coffee was bare bones, and I had to correct the man behind the counter three times because he kept getting my order wrong. I gave an extra star for being a mom-and-pop type of place instead of a chain, and because the desserts looked homemade and attractive. Skip this one unless you want to sit down for straight coffee and dessert.

Just ordered from this place via doordash, and I must say the food and drink were NASTY. What is being sold under the pretense of cherry strudel is just an insult for someone who has had strudel in Austria and Hungary, the motherland of strudel, before. Both the dough and the filling are absolutely revolting, with barely a single cherry per slice, surrounded by starchy mess, and with dough being nothing more but a sheet of filo baked from frozen, resembling paper in both texture and taste. They didnt even bother to apply egg wash to the top of their so called strudel before baking to at least attempt to hide their lack of baking skills. Their cabbage rolls too taste terrible and have a bad texture. They mustve been frozen before. And how do you do screw up a latte? Send it to a customer cold, thats how. A very disappointing experience. Never again.

Horrible guest service tonight! Only 2 tables of guests the entire time we were there and the one guy working there never came to check on us. The German sausage was so dry you could not cut it let alone eat it. Never got salad which said it came with the dinner entrees. And never brought check until we asked. We had sat for 30 min waiting for him, again only person there! When I told him we wanted check I asked why we did not get salads as other table who ordered same meal did. He said I brought you soup. He said salad is free but bc we paid extra for soup he thought we did not want salad 😳. He was very combative and began yelling at us because we asked a question about the salad. His said he made a homemade meal for us and we should not ask or question him 😳🤔. Like I said the sausage was horrible and he did not want to hear it bc it was homemade. So much for guest opinion. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Messy behind counter, where I had to chase him down to get check. Food not prepared well. Horrible guest service.... attacking guests verbally. My mother and I were in shock! He should not be in guest service industry.

Wow! What a surprise. The wife and I were out looking for Chinese food when we stumbled onto Cafe Europa. The owner John comes out to meet us and invites us in for home cooked German food. How could I say no?? We were not at all disappointed. The soup, the German sausage with mashed potato, the chicken paprikash were all homemade and fantastic!! We ended the night with a piece of black forest german cake it was amazing. Cant wait to go back for the breakfast menu, an awesome find!

The service was incredible, the owner is clearly a very nice man. My Monte Cristo sandwich, though, was just a grilled ham and cheese -- not deep fried, no jam or confectionery sugar to complement the saltiness. My husbands Reuben was pretty boring, and was very cold in the middle, but nothing too offensive. Overall, well likely try the food again - everyone has off days, but well adjust our expectations.

The waiter/owner wasnt very polite. He gave me water and threw the straw on the table. Then he came to give us garlic bread, and he told me to take my piece of bread out of the basket. I wasnt sure why, I had no plate to put it on, and then he set it down on the table. The food was subpar, nothing to go crazy over. It was just a bad experience for a first timer...
