Great place. Was told about it by friends. They had sent me a picture of very coo little Godzilla robot.I took him there for that but he was longer into Godzilla.Instead he fell in love with a Friday the thirteenth mask.Hope this place is around for a very long time. My son had picked a Jason Voorhees mask like days before the governor of Kentucky shut everything down due to the COVID 19 disease.Felt so bad for not buying it then and there.A few months went buy and things started to slowly open back up.When this store finally opened(I just checking every few days towards the end)got my son and got the mask.Very clean place.Guy at the register was very friendly. We were very comfortable in the store the whole time. Was very impressed by the selection and set up of the store. Now I check this store whenever I’m looking for any kind item I think they may have before I go online.I’d rather support a very cool local business and give them my money(support the local economy)then buy something from some place elsewhere.Especially a business I’d like to see stay around. They even have a table top room for playing.Definitely in Winchester we need more local businesses and certainly I feel this particular store is needed.I miss going to places as I did when I was a my son age and younger.Just something I feel that for the most part has been lost with the age of the Internet.I’m glad to have Wizards of Game in Winchester and that my son and I actually have a place we can physically go to.My son’s birthday is coming up in a few months and he’s a huge 80s horror fan so definitely going to be checking the store for what’s good!
The guys at this shop have given me a great deal of assistance in acquiring cards for my Magic the Gathering: Commander decks. The prices are really fair, and the shop is clean and organized. I always come here first to get cards for my collection. I am not a regular player, but have enjoyed playing Magic here moreso than any other shop because I feel it has a base of nicer players. They have a lot of video games too, and I always tell my friends to come check it out. Its too bad to see some of the one-star reviews on here. I think that when people dont get every demand they ask for, or people dont behave exactly how they expect them to, they become angry in our entitlement-based consumer culture. I suppose one-star reviews make people feel more powerful. I feel those reviews are unwarranted. These people have been fair and respectful to me, and thats mainly what I care about.
They are great. Will work with u and help you find anything u need. And if they dont have it they will try and order it for you.
They are very reasonable with trade in value and buying cards would sell to them again
Probably my favorite game store in the area. The owners have a passion for gaming and more importantly, a passion for running a game store and it shows through.I was hesitant going in the first time, assuming it to be one of the many Magic: The Gathering stores that have popped up everywhere with little time or interests for other gamers. What I found was a somewhat eclectic mix of M:TG, vintage console video games, Dungeons & Dragons, comic/toy collectibles and board games.I particularly appreciate that he usually goes under retail for D&D hardcovers and board games, something that I find fairly common in other regions but inexplicably a rarity around central Kentucky, despite the fact that there is so much competition.Check them out!
Nice store. Nice selection from all types of hobbies. Miniature selection is a little thin compared to some stores, but theyve got some pretty rare items!
The guy working wasnt a very pleasant person. Im not into the game thing but my best friend is so we went in there. My buddy wanted to look at something and told the guy if it was over a certain amount of money he could get it cheaper online but he wanted to look at it. The guy working there said Im not even going to to get it out then after my buddy already spent 100+ dollars in this mans store. Id never spend a dime there.
Loved it. They had many choices for all different console types. Friendly service and decent prices. I will be returning.
Great place ... we visited it for the first time and my son loved it!
I spent a weekend looking for retro games that I had been looking for. All of the employees were knowledgeable and John especially was very helpful.A genuine store, with good quality and quantity of games. Definitely check them out.
Definitely dislike the store there selection of most games is sparse prices are definitely sub par to the normal 4-5 shops I visit for the same products.Customer service is dreadful the few dozen times I’ve bin to the store apparently I have to play magic for them to care. The final straw was me buying singles labeld 10c a card along with confirmation of the price from the owner of the store. I took the time to pick out 30-40 singles and was meet at the counter with the owner piece checking my singles and attempting to charge me retail.
So sad they are closed, was a great place to do business. The
Absolutely fantastic store. Owner/operator is extremely polite and loves to talk shop. Selection is absolutely amazing, and i always come here expecting rare finds and am usually blasted with more than i can choose from! I always try and make time to travel from Lexington to this store when I have the chance.
My family loves this place they have great prices I would rather go here as go to game stop. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced! The old man played on his computer the whole time and the kid with glasses was extremely rude. Seemed bothered when I asked a question. Will not return. Surprised this place is still in business!
Great selection of toy collectibles, cards, video games, D&D books and minis. Nice staff too.
Great group of guys extremely friendly and very helpful. Will do anything they can to make you feel like family instead of a customer.
Excellent place for the nerdy or geeky and the families of the geek-inclined who are looking for gift ideas! The staff are the coolest, most helpful and patient bunch of people Ive ever met and do everything in their power to help.10/10 place, hands down.
A very nice place and some good deals ive seen in retro gaming staff is nice and freindly defintley recomending this to my cousins hoping they still have the gamecube so my grandma can get it for my birthday
Very nice atmosphere, very knowledgeable and friendly sales man. Definitely will return.
I love this place so much! My favorite place to do pokemon prereleases! The crowd is usually pretty chill and the staff are cool and friendly!
Very great place to play cards! Or buy collectables, cards, pops, and lots of other goodies! Staff are very friendly nice place to go to.
They have a great collection of video games of every generation and board games and trading card games. After helping my son shop for magic cards, the owner even took the time to play a game with him to help teach him better understand the game play. Were going back the next chance we get.
Great friendly atmosphere. We needed this great game store. Theyve recently been adding even more events and products and theyre very well managed and maintained. Ive never seen a single issue arise at an organozed play event and these guys are really becoming pillars of the local community. Be sure to check them out and support your local game store!
Great place to find old games for the older game systems you still love to play. Also has Funko Pops and other really cool collectibles. They also carry D&D and Magic supplies and books. The guys there are always willing to help.
The only problem I have with this place is they are starting to move away from carrying board games, which means either a trip to Lexington or a click to Amazon. Id like to keep buying local. The staff are friendly, the shop is clean, great for almost all your gaming needs in Winchester.
Great position right next to a bunch of restaurants. Tournaments are fun and the crowd is good. Bunch of cool stuff inside with everything from dungeons and dragons to magic the gathering.
Havent been back since before the virus, got some D&D stuff, dice books etc. Loved the staff, 0 complaints from me.
They realy have a nice store, easy access good parking. Ive taken grandson to the downtown location and went there for gift before and have sold a few games and movies. Very nice group of guys. I enjoyed some good and informative conversation. Theirs plenty of neat collectables to check out. Its a very cool nerdy sci.fi.kinda place. Im not that, but Ill find some reason for going back.I like the store.
Good prices, great selection, the guy who owns the place is always willing to help & makes great suggestions.
Me and my wife are new to Winchester and this place is a gem. Lots of great games and systems. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
I havent been there yet..planning a trip soon but real helpful and friendly on helping you over the phone..Cant wait to stop bye...
Great place to buy retro games and collectables. John will work with you on prices and customer service is excellent
Those guys will help someone with any kind of game questions you might have I would recommend this place to everyone looks for any type of games you might be looking for
NEVER had a bad time at WoG! prices for game carts could be better bur i know you gotta keep the lights on somehow.
Very nice visit! Took my grandson in to play Pokémon tournament, but no one else showed to play, but the guy behind the counter stopped what he was doing and played at least 3 games with him. Now that is what I call above and beyond, for your customers! May God bless!!!
Wonderful place to get your Pokemon, magic, or video game fix. Great staff and very knowledgeable. Answered all my noobish questions.
Great Place to get some sweet magic cards. The owner is super knowledgeable and friendly. Dying to go back and play magic when I get a chance.
An amazing place with amazing people and extremely helpful to new players
I absolutely love this place and will be coming back! They have all kinds of vintage games.
After popping in for a draft and a pre-release, my experience is as follows. The shop owner is chill, and his staff is chill. You may have to wait for one of them to finish their current game to get serviced, but honestly, if you cant play games occasionally, whats the point of owning/working in a shop like that. At the very least you can trust that the staff is enthusiastic about their product. The crowd around the shop is pretty friendly, but dont mistake this for nice. They are salty, and foul, but if you have a moderately thick skin and can dish it out as well as you take it, youll love it there. If you are the type that needs a safe space to grow as a player, you may be offended or put off by the local player base. The shop itself is clean, and par for the course for a brownstone downtown shop. The bathroom was clean both times I went in. The prices are average, (mtg that is, Im unsure of video games.) Price support is commensurate to the entry fees, and average as well. They do keep twist top drinks, so less chance of spillage on your cards. They do not have wifi. They deal in primarily used video games, some collectibles, and MTG.
It’s really a bummer to have to write a bad review for a place that sales so much stuff that I’d like to buy but the service the last time that my wife and I went was terrible. We were shopping for Magic cards, approached the counter and asked the associate if they had something in stock. First off, he wouldn’t acknowledge my wife, then mumbled a bit incoherently, and finally when he did help, he got the card that she was looking for and tossed it across the counter in her direction.Honestly, I live in Winchester and would rather drive to the shops in Lexington where the service is better.
I enjoyed it alot. Nice people. Awesome stuff!
They dont favor new players, only the big buyers
This place is awesome. Only card store from Morehead up until Lexington. The staff is awesome, will always hook you up. The store is welcoming, and the Magic scene is great.
I only recently learned about this store and am very glad that I did. They have a great selection of video games, with reasonable prices. I was especially surprised by the selection of harder to find NES titles.I purchased a selection of games, ranging from GameBoy and NES to PS3 and Wii U. Im looking forward to my next visit to the area so I can drop in again.
Great,found everything we needed
I went in looking for gamecube games and was impressed with the selection of titles I picked up a copy of luigis mansion and it was a fair price and the game looks brand new I will definitely go back when I am looking for retro games
Loved the store, there is alot of rare content. The staff is ok, nice but not necessarily friendly.
Wizards is great! John the owner and Tayor are great guys, very fun to go in and see. Love 2 stop by for magic cards everytime Im in Winchester
This place sells a lot of awesome stuff. Board games, figures and collectables, cards (MTG Yu-Gi-Oh Ect.), and a lot of retro games. They are also pretty fair with their trade ins for cash and especially store credit. With a great selection of all of these things. However it can be pricey even for the market for some of this stuff. Just a heads up but they do have to have some mark up, its only, fair considering you get to see it first hand and you dont pay for shipping. I so I say they are better than buying online.
Good prices on magic cards friendly atmosphere and great place to go to tournaments for magic
Ive been to wizards a few times now, and I love it. The owner is great, the prices are fair, and they have a great selection of both tcgs and video games. The store is fairly spacey and the store is very clean. They do offer screw top drinks and they have a small snack selection( a basket ). The regular players are a bit rough around the edges, but they wont bother you to much. I find them extremely entertaining myself. The lot who are usually there for FNM are really helpful and fun to play with. To summarize, if you are looking for a place to chill and play some magic then this is the place to be. The store and its owner have thoroughly impressed me with both their demeanor and selection. I highly recommend you check this place out.
Great variety of videogames and videogames, anime and rpg game accessories. And they host magic the gathering tournaments which is awesome because many places do not offer that kind of services and it gives peoplea fun, safe thing to do. The employees.. Theres not many employees but the employees thats there are really nice and helpful.
Wizards of Game has competitive pricing and a friendly knowledgeable staff. You can tell by the passion and knowledge of the staff that they are gamers too. I will choose Wizards of Game over big corporate chain game stores any day of the week.
I love this shop to buy, sell and play. Good selection and shop owners that seek to please the customer.
Great place to buy and play games. Board games, magic and pokemon cards, d & d books and supplies, video games, and lots of pops. Come check them out!
