I have two older model Toyota Prius’s and have brought each of them in to be serviced at Rattle & Hum since moving to Winston Salem earlier this year, 2021. One needed a new bladder for the gas tank. They found a bladder and installed it at a reasonable price. I am quite satisfied with the services I have received and appreciate their attention to my needs. Thanks.

I’ve been using Rattle and Hum Automotive for my personal vehicle servicing needs for a number of years and recently switched all of our company vehicles at my workplace to this shop. Everyone is down-to-earth and helpful, the facility is clean, prices are fair, and they explain service work simply. I chose Rattle and Hum because they frequently had older vehicles on the lot for repair. I dropped off my 1988 Ford Ranger for a electrical/gauge problem that no one else could fix. Shane offered his opinion which turned out to be the correct one. Vehicle was repaired promptly and affordably. These lads turned out to be more knowledgeable than the Ford dealership. I also own a 2018 Porsche and so far they are smarter, cheaper, and nicer than that dealership.

As far as I can tell they did a good job putting a refabricated, rebuilt engine into my old Ford van. However when I called in to say several things had not been finished, including reconnecting a piece of equipment necessary for locking down the wheelchair, the reaction by the man on the phone was very unprofessional in that he suggested that perhaps those several things, including the handicapped equipment not being hooked back up, actually happened on my end. The man was very rude and unprofessional about the whole thing when it came to about 4 details that havent been dealt with on the van properly. So, a good job on the motor as far as I can tell but the customer service was lacking and worse than expected.

The team at Rattle & Hum always treat me like family. All services done in a timely manner at very affordable pricing. They are thorough & always let me know if there are any other issues I need to address. As a mother of two it feels good knowing I always drive a safe vehicle! Thank you guys!

The short version: great staff that is professional, friendly, and cares about their customers.I was working nearby yesterday, and Id needed an oil change for a couple weeks but hadnt managed to get it done yet, so I figured Id stop by Rattle & Hum and see if they could do it while I was at work. I had never been there before, but I had heard good things from others whod also worked at the nearby site, and it was within walking distance.I went in and was greeted immediately. I asked if they could do an oil change and have it done by 1:30, as I had an appointment at 2:00 that day. The guy said they could, and he took my information quickly and sent me on my way. Well have it done by 1:00.That afternoon, my appointment cancelled, so I didnt need the car as soon. At 1:08, I got a call from Rattle & Hum, We just wanted to make sure you knew your car was ready, since you said you needed it done by a certain time. Ive had mechanics who could get work done on time, but I dont think Ive ever met one who was proactive about following up like that and who cared about my time that way! I told him that my timeline had changed and made sure it was okay to leave it another hour, which he said was fine.When I went to pick up my car, a different person was at the desk than the one whod greeted me in the morning, but he knew without asking which car I was there for and where I was working, based on my referral. He was friendly and professional and checked me out quickly.I looked to be sure theyd reset the oil monitoring system on my car, and they had. (Even the dealership always forgets.) Great service, great staff, great place!

Got my yearly inspection done. Quick easy no problems! Was recommended to me by my husband who takes all of his work vehicles there to be serviced.

I took my car in for a repair because it did not pass inspection. I believe there was some miscommunication about one repair that needed to be done. I called and I have to be honest I was a little upset when I tried to get the car reinspected and it didn’t pass. Even though I was a little upset when I called them they remained calm and told me to bring the car in and they would take care of it. They did not have to do that and this lets me know that they are honest and caring. I will continue to take my car for repairs as well as recommend them. You get a little break on the prices as opposed to the dealership but still good quality work. Thank you so much!!

I have taken multiple vehicles to Rattle and Hum, and had an array of issues, or just maintenance taken care of. Every time they have taken care of the issue efficiently, and most importantly they did it at what I consider a to be a fair price. For this fair price, you get incredibly honest opinions on what to do prior to the work being done, and they do exactly what they say. They will offer opinions on additional work if they discover potential issues, or maintenance items if something is close to needing replaced, but with no pressure at all. I have recommended them to so many people, and they too have come back with great experiences! Yet another job well done! Thanks team!

Great experience with this shop. I have taken my Denali there three times and I have been pleased with all three visits. They have a very high volume of business which speaks to their quality and expertise. They called me to update me on the progress of my car each time. On the last visit they were able to save me over $600 by performing an alternative method for repair. Great place to take your vehicle for all repairs!

I recently had an issue about pricing for my air conditioner. I was overwhelmed that the owner reached out to me to resolve this issue. That has never happened. It showed me that they are concerned and loyal to their customers. I really appreciate the extra effort to fix the issue. Thumbs up! I would highly recommend them especially for the excellent customer service.

They did a great job with my car repairs. I just wish they had checked with me about the tires before they assumed the tires needed air. I had low profile tires with Nitrogen making the car look sporty. Now I have to pay to have it reversed.

I have been coming here for 6 years and I love it! Shane and Bobby have been taking care of our family cars as if they were their own. It means so much to go to a mechanic you can trust to be honest, fair, and thorough. We will continue to bring all our cars here.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. They do high quality, careful, and honest work, and I have never once felt that they were overcharging or trying to sell unnecessary repairs. The staff are extremely personable and helpful, and the waiting area is new and nice if you need to be there a while. To top it off, when I had to leave my car there overnight for a timing belt change, they offered me a free loaner car! This was a life saver for me. They also offer complimentary shuttle service. This is definitely the shop I will continue to use as long as Im in Winston!

We have always had great service at Rattle and Hum. Bobby and Shane are friendly, honest and extremely knowledgeable with all makes and models. They have worked on my 1960s British classic car as well as all our newer autos. All our service has been prompt and of the highest quality while communicating with us through the work. They have even driven me back to my office when all their loaner cars were out. My in-laws recently relocated to the area and now take their cars to them. Ive been taking my 2007 Toyota Corolla to Rattle & Hum for a couple of years now, and I wish that Id done it sooner to avoid ridiculous dealership prices. As a Woman Of A Certain Age, Im often seen by automotive places as a target for oh, you need to fix the Blah di Blah, it looks as if its in the danger zone and similar upsells (always delivered in a somewhat patronizing way). The Rattle & Hum guys have always treated me courteously and professionally, plus theyre all just great, nice people. Their pricing is very fair and straightforward; they are accurate about wait times; and once Shane gave me a loaner because I needed to be elsewhere and didnt have a reasonable way of getting there. Really, they are the best, full stop.

I always feel like the guys at R&H are honest and giving me a fair deal. Theyre polite and i never feel like theyre trying to sell me something in dont need or put one over on me. Plus, the place is very clean. I trust my car to R&H!

I’ve been going here for a while now and they’ve always done a great job working on my Accord. They all seem really knowledgeable and are willing to take the time to explain for me whatever is going on with my car. The waiting area is also really nice. I only live a couple blocks away but sometimes I still just wait there and watch tv, maybe have a coffee. I’ve gone for both oil changes and bigger fixes on the car and everything that has been fixed has held up well so far

Excellent communication throughout the whole process. With a 25 year old car it is difficult to find parts for it. They were able to find the part needed even though it was not available through their normal channels.Since moving here from out of state we have been to many repair shops and not experienced the same level of customer service and honesty.This is our new shop to take our cars to for all their service and repair needs.

Great service! - Update 2yrs later... these guys are still the best shop Ive been to! The owner, manager, and team members are all top notch and know their stuff. Im a little OCD and paranoid about vehicle issues, so I really like the fact that theyre honest with you about any repairs that need immediate attention, but dont push any issues that arent worth spending money on. Best shop in town!

I dropped my car off first thing in the morning and they were done by 3pm. We were charged what was quoted and everything was done properly. The staff was pleasant and the waiting room was comfortable. All around a good experience!

Absolutely lovely experience here. Had a shattered side mirror with housing still intact; went to R&H and was recommended to go to an auto glass shop for a cheaper and faster fix than having to get the whole part replaced. Also have gone to Rattle & Hum for basic maintenance - oil changes, tire rotations, etc - and the guys are quick, friendly, and thorough. Happy car, happy driver. :)

The best thing about taking my car to Rattle & Hum is the huge price difference from my dealership. The other best thing is they do a better job then my dealership (thorough).Not only do they take care my problem, but they point out potential issues that save me time and money by addressing it early.They are efficient and dont keep my car for long periods of time.They are professional and are honest/straight in their conversation.

I always get my oil changed here. It feels like a modern twist on an old school shop where they remember you and dont try to up sell you. The staff is very friendly and it seems every time I am in someone comes in after striking out at another shop, only to find these guys know the fix. The wait room is really nice, I often wait for my vehicle and work there. Cant recommend enough this local shop.

Terrible service!!! My wife brought her car in to get her heating fixed. Initially we had thought they did a good job but after a month it went out again. My wife called them and they acted like complete jerks, denying any responsibility for their actions. They told her to bring it in again, so she did. This time the heat work for one day (literally). Took it to another shop where we discovered that one of the hose had been cut which caused the car to loose coolant and eventually cause a crack in the radiator. My issue is this, if they are professionals then why didnt they discover a cut hose both times we had taken the car there. This leads me to believe they cut the hose hoping to create more business for themselves.

I have been going there for years I have a 2011 Toyota Camry. My air wasn’t working they charged me to fix it knowing the compressor would go out which did a month later. Why charge a client for that instead of letting them know that a compressor was needed I have spent a lot of money. Every time I go I have to take it back which cost me more money. To fix my compressor they quote 1500 but the dealership price was $920. I hate to switch up because I trusted them but over priced when compared to a dealership! I rather fix everything wrong than to piece it here and there. I’m so disappointed

I had my truck towed here after breaking down on Interstate 40. These folks repaired my truck quickly and for a fair price. The facilities are clean and the owners are professional and polite. I was prepared for a horrible experience, but was very pleasantly surprised.

I paid well over $600 for service (and please don’t say you don’t recall as I have the receipts and will post it). Part of the service was purchasing two tires. One of the tires exploded a week later. Why? Because it had never been changed and the new tires was sitting in my trunk. It was found when two men who were helping me went to look for a spare. When my friend and I came to Rattle & Hum Bob treated us as if we were incompetent and suggested that I, a school teacher, had simply switched the tires. He offered two new tires to “fix” the situation and I declined for fear that I would have another exploding tire again. He explained that he was just a small business owner.I was disgusted as I operated with integrity and paid the bill as a customer to be treated this way. We seem to love our cars with at least 100,000+ miles on them in our family, and Bobby and his crew keep us on the road. I was in there last week with a cracked plastic part (just a cosmetic irritation) and they offered to look for the part from a junk yard to save me $$. Ive been taking my car to Rattle and Hum for a few years, both for regular maintenance and for bigger repairs, and I highly recommend them! Ive mostly chatted with Bobby and Shane, and they always take the time to explain whatever fix is needed, manage to fit me into the schedule pretty quickly, and their prices are completely reasonable.

Rattle and Hum provided my state inspection in under 30 minutes. They were polite and helpful and filled my tires when they noticed the air level was low. I was charged reasonably.

Trustworthy people at a fair price

I was told my car needed a $500 part to get it running, the owner offered that I give him the car as a trade for their service. We instead brought the car back home and my husband (who is not a mechanic) fiddled with the part they said needed replacing and got the car running within 10 minutes. Not only were they charging the maximum amount for a service, but they then tried to convince us to let them HAVE my car for the price of them plugging up their equipment to see what was wrong with it. These folks came off as not trustworthy mechanics and in it for all the money they could get out of you.

Took my 04 Honda Pilot in for a bad Vibration! I was expecting the worst! Turns out I had a bad tire! Not only did I get a fast diagnosis but I got a great Deal on Tires. Great group of guys at Rattle and Hum. Thanks
