I’ve been a Guitar Center customer for years (multiple locations), and have always had good experiences buying and trading gear. I wanted to give a great review for Ken Stocks, the guitar tech at Winston-Salem. Just got my favorite, old Ibanez LP-style guitar set up, and it’s fantastic. It’s the best it’s played in years. Highly recommended store and service. 🤘

Absolutely horrible. My girlfriend and I stopped in yesterday around 1:30 p.m., we walked in could see a few customers could see maybe 8 or more employees but we didnt even receive a welcome to guitar center hello or any form of acknowledgment. We have been looking around Price shopping for keyboards went to the section where they were walked around for a good 10 minutes and was never once even approached by anyone. To be quite honest I already do not like corporations. If youre looking for quality guitars and other musical instruments the same as what they have to offer but at a better price support your local guitar store on Burke St, or even Jackson music company. At least when I have been to both of those locations I am acknowledged when I walk in as though I exist.

This Guitar Center store is Amazing. It looks very clean and organized. They offer a large variety of instruments of every kind. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Dont forget to request a price match for the opportunity of getting a better price!

Friendly sales staff. Helpful and polite. One dude told me to pick any instrument and crank it up. Some interesting guitars and basses. A smaller selection than the Tacoma store but the staff more than make up for that with how helpful they are.

The employees were very knowledgeable about the products, and in most cases, actually knew how to play and or use the instruments and equipment. Including the software as well.I found them to also be very kind.

Customer Service is incredible a sales Guy by the Name Courtney answered all my questions and offered so much knowledge on all instruments and how important it is to apply insurance....I will most definitely return to this location once my kids decide on the instruments to learn.

I walked in and was greeted by every employee. I asked for a product they didnt have on the floor. The employee found it and handled the transaction with a smile. Thats all you can ask for.

I bought this Yamaha digital grand keyboard at a great price. Staff was very helpful and I definitely love the piano. Very pleased with my shopping experience.

We drove from Beckley WV to get a drum set. We were immediately greated and asked what they could help us find. When we said a drum set the associate that was a drummer immediately jumped up and went into action. He was very knowledgeable. He showed us the drums and did not hover. He gave us space to discuss. Thanks for the great experience! It was worth the drive.

We go so hubby and kids can drool over guitars, drums, etc. This time the pickins were slim in the guitar department. Nice folks though.

Super friendly workers here. A fella named Lewis I believe was very helpful in helping me find the right accessories for my guitar. I am very happy to have a store so close to home that has all my music needs!

It was the first time I have visited Guitar Center in Winston Salem. The social was very helpful, took the time to walk me to what I was looking for. I just needed some strings, he helped me select the brand I was looking for, and then have me a quick your of the store. He then walked me to the register and checked me out. We chatted for a minute, he was very kind and talked even though I knew he needed to get back to work. I will be going back.

Overall great experience. I was stuck between a Martin and a Taylor. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Side note- get more experienced keys players in here to teach lessons!

Went there this last weekend to buy a guitar for my wife for her birthday. Had a helpful employee help us out and take us up front to check out. He tried to get me to buy the insurance but I wasnt interested he was respectful of that and we went to continuing the check out process.Then a coworker (older heavier set guy with short bleached dreads) of his decided that my answer wasnt ok and tried again to sell the insurance. I told him no and he was upset. He did a poor job on the sell and looked foolish in front of his coworkers. So he doubled down insulting us for not buying the insurance. This ruined the buying experience. The other two employees apologized for his behavior.Though I did continue the purchase and bought the guitar I will not buy anything from them again.

Great place to buy guitar and amps,enjoyed playing all the different guitars, will be going back real soon,like next week.

I only recently briefly stopped by this Guitar Center. The store and staff were ok. I really didnt make any significant purchases or have major interactions with the staff.

Best staff of any Guitar Center Ive ever been to.

I think this GC is a good place to buy instruments, if you know what you want, and wait for sales. Ive purchased a couple of basses, two used synths and two bass amps since they opened up almost two and a half years ago. I had an issue with one of the basses as far as defects, they provided me with a new one, no questions asked, so yes, they do have a great return policy on instruments, one of the best around. Inventory has been pretty low due to Covid, but hopefully that will rebound. As many have already mentioned, Andy is a top level tech, and if I would make one recommendation if youre thinking of buying a guitar or bass, it would be this - have Andy do a quick check of your instrument, hell let you know within 30 seconds if the neck is straight, etc. So yeah, overall, not a bad place to shop, there arent too many music stores around, so you have to make the most of it!

Customer service is very poor, salesman had a passive aggressive attitude from the beginning. Very pushy trying to sell protection insurance, and after declining the offer twice the salesman asks why and we answer it isnt necessary for a $150 acoustic for a beginner. Salesman responds with an unnecessary and extremely rude comment of, if youve got it like that, after we made a comment that we would just as soon as buy a new guitar than waste money on insurance for a guitar that is very unlikely to break. Brought it to the managers attention but he showed absolutely no interest in how we were treated. I took my business down the road to Jacksons Music and was met with fantastic service and an extremely better deal, and was able to support a small business in my community on top of that.

Went looking for a specific keyboard. Alberto was very helpful and assisted my husband and I with finding a comparable model as the one we wanted was not available. We left very satisfied and happy

The Winston Salem Guitar Center has treated me well and I would rate them higher but my experiences with Guitar Center as a whole takes away from this rating. My last purchase from the Winston Salem store I am thrilled with though and was treated very well by everyone there. Keep it up guys.

These stores have had it rough and inventory is LOW. These things don’t bother me terribly they are just very sad. unfortunately however I can’t not stress enough how absolutely rude and unhelpful and useless and unpleasant the staff here in Winston has proven to be TIME AFTER TIME! Over the last year I have been absolutely broken hearted and bummed out by these rude and unhelpful kids! The masks is whatever, but the 1,000 I tried to spend on a guitar 3 separate visits 3 different times just to be ignored then ran off is the reason I nominate this GUITAR CENTER for worst store of 2020!I have much more to say and many more specific experiences! Idk why I’ve went back but I’m done with the place.It’s a shame but if this is how you do business then I fully understand the bankruptcy.Do better. Shouldn’t be hard.

Andy is THE BEST Guitar Tech on the East Coast - but Guitar Center wont even let him work a full 40 Hr week due to the China Flu since King Roy Cooper of North Carolina has continued the Lockdown of the state and a Complete Shutdown of the Entire Music Industry. in North Carolina - Andys work is WORTH THE WAIT. Get in line and dont question the wait if you want it right. If only they would let him work overtime - he wants to do the work as much as you want it to be done and there are so few guitar techs as trained and experienced and thorough with a high standard of customer service as Andy. I wouldnt even let anyone else even change the strings on my guitars anymore because he gets the setup perfect every time. I dont even want to change my own strings anymore even after 35 years of playing guitar. Andys work and customer service is second to none and is only limited by the amount of hours he is allowed to work by GC Corporate. Be Patient.

I am an artist was looking to buy a concert guitar. The sales rep hurriedly worked with me. Gave me a used sample floor amp. After 3 weeks of pristine care my guitar does not work with the amp. No one one should be hurried through an almost $2000 purchase. That was exactly what happened. They also sell guitars that others have sampled, dropped so you get a used guitar. Don’t stop by here. Not a good experience at all. They also do not set up your guitar either. I had that done somewhere else bc I don’t want them touching my guitar.

Shopping experience was ok but return policy is the worst Ive ever encountered. Even with purchasing a protection plan on my product, when it defected they refused to just replace it like any other retailer they put me on this long journey of dealing with a manufacturer and having to send it in. Very antiquated business model. So if youre willing to wait a month or so to have your issues resolved then this ok. If you expect quality modern customer care, shop elsewhere!

The staff are great and friendly and knowledgeable. A place to get away from COVID but be respectful and wear a mask. Not as much gear this year but mostly due to pandemic and Chinese supply and possibly Bankruptcy. I go by often and try to buy to keep this store open and in business. A haven for creatives.

Andy is the king of guitar repairs and modifications. I drive all the way from western NC to have him work on my stuff.

I went here to buy a little brother a violin for his class. When I asked the employee at this store he said no and another Hispanic employee interrupted and was very annoyed with me. He then told me is spanish that my mother and I had already been in the store and passive-aggressivly said that he had already told us they could not help us. In the first place this was my first time going to the store. He then told my mother and I to go to Jacksons music store down the street. This was my first and last time going to this store. Jacksons music store has the best customer service.

Helpful staff especially the guitar tech. I asked a question and his answer wasnt what I wanted to hear, but he was correct 100%. With his diagnosis and suggestions I was able to spare my guitar from becoming a parts source for a new build. Make sure the people you trust with you axe know what they are doing. I also found several items for my other instruments in this store...reeds, fast valve oil..etc. I do wish they didnt have prices on the PRS guitars and the other high end beauties that are hanging on the wall...makes me sad I cant afford half the amount my car cost to one guitar...lol. Maybe one day I will be good enough to need something that costs more than $250 from a hole in the wall pawn shop.

Went into the guitar center today to buy a new guitar. Had a 1000.00 to spend. They told me I had to wear a mask I told them I had asthma and could not wear one they said I still had too. We left and I will take my 1000.00 to another music store and buy what I need. Real bad business practice. Its not a law to wear a mask if they read the order people with underlying health conditions are exempted from the mask mandate. Its ok. Another store will profit from there loss.

Everyone is always so helpful and extremely knowledgeable; I always leave having learnt something new. Theyve got a huge variety of different instruments. I got my first electric guitar, plus a few accessories cheaper than at any local competitor price. So, once you take all that, and add in the relaxing atmosphere, its definitely my top choice for anything music-related, especially guitars.

Its a reasonably sized place with friendly employees. A guy named Andy was very helpful, he may be the manager or one of sorts. If not, he should be. He did an excellent job on my friends electric bass guitar. Sounded wonderful after it was tuned and string replaced. He even showed my friend an efficent, but great warmup. We will be returning for more business! Deserves moe than 5 stars! Oh I almost forgot theyre taking covid 19 seriously. Immediately inside the sliding glass doors is a sanitizing station. It had extra mask and hands sanitizer! Yay!

I ordered a guitar online from this store and followed up with a phone call to the store. I asked them to please pull the guitar off the show room floor, since I purchased it and wanted to make sure that the guitar was not sold from underneath me. Next day, my order is cancelled with no explanation. Next day, my order is cancelled with no explanation. I called their corporate customer service, and I was told that the sale was cancelled because it was previously sold. Their customer service or the lack there of will be followed up with a formal complaint with the Guitar Center Corporate office, BBB, and the North Carolina Consumer Protection Division

My 6yr old grandson is taking guitar lessons here and he loves it. They are really good with him.

If you want a great Guitar Center, with a lot of choices, this is not the one to go to. I usually end up buying stuff online or at the store down in North Charlotte. Their keyboard section especially has gone down hill, like with items missing knobs etc.

Brad is the only knowledgeable employee there. They dont post their prices either. PRODUCTS ARE ON HOOKS WITH NO PRICES?

So recently I stopped in to get another musical add on for my husbands guitars. The guys were easy going and helped me, also they reminded me of the money saving deals that they have, and updated email information so that he could see the newest deals. The store looked clean and it was a relieving cool to shop in after all the heat waves weve been having in the triad. The T-shirts too are great quality, and advertise Fender, Taylor, Gibson, etc. and are being put on sale, so I bought one of those too for my husband. Ive been shopping at Guitar Center for many years and theyre always having specials. I really like the Winston-Salem store.

Exactly what you would reasonably think. Service is pleasant at the Winston-Salem store. We all know the typical Guitar Store Guy. The one that is cooler than youll ever be. Played with Eddie Van Halen at Warren Haynes one time. Jimmy Page showed up with some killer bud and...... None of that at this store. Most employees seem to be in their 20s and make my visits comfortable and inviting every time. One employee does work in the industry with touring bands and absolutely doesnt fit into my previous joke. Hes the real deal you can tell in his humble demeanor. Oh....and by his chops as hes testing and tweaking one of his fine repairs. Rant over but.....Im pleasantly surprised at the Guitar Center Winston-Salem. Certified DB free. Still not the B String......

The Guitar Center in Winston Salem listed a tube combo amp as excellent condition online. I called in advance to ask about the condition. The worker confidently verified it was available and in excellent condition because it has to be for us to sell it. I drove an hour to check it out with the intention of buying it. They couldnt find it on the floor. Finally they found it sitting in the hall. The amp was carried over, plugged in and it didnt even work. I informed the workers. One said to another Do you know anything about amps? the other replied A little bit. After verifying the amp didnt work, he says that must be why its been sitting in the hall for several weeks. I explained the situation and they just said sorry about that. Despite this failure in customer service, inventory and sales skills, I tried out a couple of other amps they had in stock. With the channel and master volume at 1.5 on a 40w 1x12 combo, the worker approached and said Hey could you turn it down? We have lessons going on. I was so disappointed, I left without buying anything.

This place was amazing! It was wonderful to look at all the musical instruments! They have a wide variety, however I was blown away with their prices! They are very pricey! The staff was very helpful!

A very friendly place where you can get quality items for your guitar(electric and acoustic). They have got what you need here. Just realize for beginners alike that it will cost you over 40$ most of the time but you can also find some low items too. Overall, its great place in Winston-Salem for guitar players and playees!

Been to this location twice and both times it was the best Guitar Center experience of my life. Very organized and welcoming environment especially for beginners and amateurs. Spencer took the time to explain the pedals and mixers I was interested in very well. I felt I got exactly what I needed and will definitely be back again.

Andy is a very good guitar tech he is reasonable dependable and punctual. I drove a extra 30 minutes to take my guitar to Andy after I spoke with him over the phone even though I live 10 minutes away from the Greensboro guitar center. The experience under Andys belt was enough to justify this drive I will definitely come back here for all my guitar and musical needs

This was my first visit to the store, and I was greeted by Mike, Sales Associate upon my arrival. He directed me to the Acoustic Guitar Room as requested. I played several guitars, and Mike, several associates checked on me to see if I needed any assistance. I made my purchase, and appreciate Mike for his help with all accessories needed. These people are the best, and I highly recommend Guitar Center!! 👍👍

Good selection of entry level guitars and accessories. All going well until sales rep kept pushing a $30 all inclusive 2 yr warranty for a $180 guitar. How many times does it take no thanks to resonate? Instead of just dropping it the rep kept making comments - some quite juvenile. Wont go back for that type of treatment.

Terrible experience, went in looking for a guitar case and asked for help, and was told to give them a minute... I gave them 30. Decided to walk out and on the way out the door all 3 workers were standing doing nothing just starred at us walk out and didn’t bother to ask if we found what needed.

Jeff is awesome. Not pushy but informative. We bought a drum set for my husband and a piano from him. Freddy helped with explaining pian9 lesson options. Laid back and professional guys.

Worse place to buy gear!

The Guitar Center is still stuck in the Stone Age and does not have online payment methods via which you can update your billing info on your own for your guitar classes. The Store Manager at Winston-Salem NC is oblivious to the need of disabled customers like me who struggle to make a phone call. All businesses should have an online payment option in 2020.

I experienced great customer service and incredible equipment at this store. The store is well organized, has a comfortable atmosphere, and is equipped with staff that are attentive to the needs of the customers. Ill definitely be back.

Normally, I love guitar Center. I know nothing about musical instruments and they have helped me set up all 4 of my kids with loads of equipment. The Winston Salem location however, has disappointed me after taking advantage of my ignorance. My wife recently gave me a new-to-me used guitar for my birthday to learn to play for myself. I brought it in to have the neck action adjusted. The guitar guy sold me on a new set of strings with it. Told me how really old and worn mine were. I got home and mentioned to my wife I got new strings, she had new string put on when she bought it. They had been played only 3 or 4 times. Makes we wonder how much other services I have paid for that were never needed.

The place to go for music and A/V needs. Staff needs to be kept up to date on policies, but thats not enough to prevent me from going there. Saw on their webpage a mic was buy 2 get 1 free, went to the store and despite having a ton of that mic they wouldnt honor the online deal. So I bought two mics, ordered the 3 mics online (cheaper than the two I bought) and when they arrived returned the two. Explained what we did, and was told they should have honored the online deal, but they handled the return with no issue!

The staff will not talk to you unless you fit a certain look. Ive been playing guitar for ten years, but I wasnt so much as greeted in this store until I was on my way out and no longer interested. They have a lot of equipment and variety that you can get your hands on and play with, but the customer service isnt good enough to make it worth it as my go to guitar and keyboard stop.

Fantastic place to go to look at new guitars, keyboards, drums, equipment and etc. And suited all of my needs during my visit. I spent a little over an hour in here looking at a new acoustic guitar and you are given the opportunity to take the guitars off the wall and play as you will. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with finding me a guitar that suited me and that I liked. I will definitely be revisiting in the future even if not to buy anything.
