Service was fine, everything was as advertised. However, keep more funds in your account and be prepared to be charged double for at least a week. The holding charge will be on your account and so will the updated charge after everything is finalized from your rental. The holding charge will eventually be back in your bank account but its very inconvenient to have double the rate taken from you, I would just make the smallest estimate possible
Noah was awesome, both checking in and out he gave me the best experience I have ever had with U-Haul. Courteous, calm, welcoming, helpful, and fast. U-Haul needs more people like Noah.
My contract was placed two weeks in advance,and was originally scheduled for a pickup location convenient to me in York Pennsylvania. At my 9:00 a.m. arrival in York I first became aware that now I must travel 90 extra minutes and sixty or more miles to Harrisburg to procure my rental. This caused me great inconvenience and crucial loss of my time to get the trailer loaded for my trip. Uhaul treated me very poorly in this item. The staff at Harrisburg was great.quite good..
Hi, I just really need to inform you of the employee that is working on the Roosevelt Rd location in York, Pa. I had previously rented a 26 truck to move to another state. I rented it early because I was loading myself, and had a lot of stuff, plus was working many hours at work at the same time. As time to move approached I had to get a car dolly to transport one of my vehicles out of state to Ohio as well. I drove my van to the Roosevelt location. I informed the employee i had a van to pick up the car dolly in, but would not be hauling with my van, I would be hauling with the 26 truck i already rented,and asked if that was ok. I was told that it would be fine, and the individual whom I spoke with informed me there was not one available at that location. They found one at a Lancaster location, in which I said ok Ill go get it, but its going to be ok if I get it in my van correct? They are not going to give me a hard time correct. I informed the individual of my exact intention with a witness, and his words were No it wont be a problem. So I drive to Lancaster about a 30 minute drive, only to be told I was not allowed to pick it up with my van. The gentleman in Lancaster his name was Jonathan. He was as helpful as he could be, but obviously could only do so much. I was not upset with him, and was even cracking jokes to try and keep the mood light, I was not able to leave and come back for the dolly as it would have been closed by the time I returned. I was basically forced at this point to rent another truck in order to get the dolly. I was charged over $100 when if I was just properly informed anyway could have been avoided. When I returned to the Roosevelt in York location to drop off the truck. I expressed that I was pretty upset that I was told it was ok, when it wasnt, and I had to spend extra money when I shouldnt of had to. Tons of funds is already spent on moving, and this could have been completely avoided. The employee whom informed me it was ok in the first place. He responded with thats not my problem. In which immediate made me more upset. Told him the only thing he needed to be saying to me was that he was sorry. I would have been satisfied with that. Still upset but satisfied. Instead all he succeeded in doing was was escalating the situation. He found no fault in his actions, and thats the most disappointing part of the situation. On or about the first part of May 2021 I contacted U-Haul to reserve a 26 foot truck for my move from York Pennsylvania to Florida. I was to pick up the truck the Monday before memorial day at 7 AM at Roosevelt Ave., York, PA. When I arrived at aforementioned location I was advised that they did not have a truck for me but they should have one by 10 AM that morning. Yes of course ruined the schedule that we had to leave YORK by noon for Flordia. At approximately 8:30 AM that same morning I received a call that we could pick up a 26 foot truck at New Cumberland a Pennsylvania which is about 20 miles north of YORK. We could pick up our TV boxes at the new Cumberland location. When the driver and I arrived we were Advised that yes they have a 26 foot truck for us but they don’t sell TV boxes. We picked up the truck had to drive back to the Roosevelt Avenue location and then, after picking up the TV boxes we proceeded to my home to start moving. After we moved to Florida and we returned it to the U-Haul place And Flordia, who I might mention was very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with.When I arrived back in YORK on June 9, 2021 I returned the unused boxes to the Roosevelt Avenue U-Haul location..The man at the desk said he had to wait for the manager to return from the bathroom as he didn’t know how to handle a return. He was not very friendly or knowledgeable. After a wait of sometime the manager returned and told me that he can give meA U-Haul credit for the boxes. He could not give me a refund on my credit card or in cash.Incidentally the manager was a long-haired, UnkeptMan who appeared that he has not showered in days or maybe longer. I would not have this man mow my yard. I had nothing but problems from the U-Haul franchise at Roosevelt Avenue, York Pennsylvania. I will never, I repeat never, ever use U-Haul Roosevelt Avenue York Pennsylvania again. I will also Share with my YORK friends never ever to use U-Haul, Roosevelt Avenue York Pennsylvania.I gave them a one star, only because there was nothing lower to give them.
Do not use this uhaul. I wont get into too much detail because there is too much. Easily worst experience with a business in my lifetime! On top of it all they charged me for 24/7 service; which I feel shouldve been free given my inexcusable treatment I have received continually here. Corporate will be calling me and hopefully they refund it; which I believe they will. This place should do it themselves because the general manager told me I already had 24/7 access to my storage literally 4 hours ago (he is the only one that seems to know all there, but not this day! If I didnt call customer service I wouldve arrived there tonight totally locked out! Samatha (sammy) claimed she was the storage manager, but corporate stated she is just a customer service representative. She hung up on me while I was talking to her about the 24-7 service. Most unwelcoming customer service representative ever, very abrasive, very my way or the highway. She hesitated when I asked if the General manager was her boss, like she was weighing & measuring what to lie about and how far too take it! That is just the latest among many other issues. Reviews dont allow enough text to tell all, but hope this helps some people out there to avoid this uhaul entirely! Just a roller coaster of disasters here! I am the guy that never complains! That is how bad this is! I was also going to use a couple garage spaces here, but no chance of that happening anymore! Corporate, waiting for your rep to call within 72 hours for my refund and complaint about the charge!
This business has 2 addresses so Im leaving each one a one star review, this U-Haul does everything it can to be unhelpful and give your trailer away that you took the time to reserve.
I set up to have a trailer hitch installed. Process was easy. Received a call, part was on back order. Received phone part was in. I rescheduled appt. dropped off vehicle night before. Called 3 times through out the day for updates. Wait time from 7-20 minutes. Finally got through to someone only to find out hitch not installed. No idea why, hitch person had left for the day. Was told by person who answered the phone “maybe” they didn’t have the part someone would call me in the morning. Frustrating beyond belief.Just picked up my vehicle. Asked person behind counter if he contacted the install tech to find out what the issue was. He acted like I was speaking a foreign language. I guess he doesn’t comprehend customer service.

DONT GO HERE FIND ANY OTHER PLACE. I was waiting in line this women comes in and says the truck that they gave her had the check engine and oil light on. The guy at the counter expected her to still drive it. I should of walked away at that point but I got my truck and as soon as I got in the check engine light was on. Now I should of went back in and got a different truck but it was the only one they had of the size that I needed. So I went with it 20 miles in the trucks transmission gives out and It wont go past first gear. Waited for 3 hours for roadside assistance. Again I’d go anywhere else.
The guy that checked me in and out had a very unpleasant demeanor. Its probably just a minimum wage job so i guess i expect too much. A little smile and friendliness would be nice though.
Of all the employees I saw while picking up and dropping off the truck, only one was wearing a mask. The service was adequate apart from that, but the disregard the staff shows for public health earns this location a one-star rating.
Its pretty obvious no one working here enjoys their job, and if after a nice long day of moving you forget to remove something, the already annoyed staff throws a fit about it. After you stand in line for half an hour while staff takes its sweet time to set the rental up, multiple people got tired of waiting and left. Do yourself a favor and rent a truck from a different uhaul location, or just use a different company altogether.
Manager was completely unaccommodating and did not listen to anything we had to say about our rental. We rented a car transport from Hershey PA and it was to be dropped back off in Hershey. We got to our location in York to pick up our vehicle to haul and realized that the straps were faulty and we could not haul the vehicle. We took it back to the closest UHAUL because of not being able to use the equipment. The manager did not listen to me when I said the straps were cut and walked away from us. I had to call customer service while in their parking lot. We did have to drive it back to Hershey due to our contract which we understood but we received a full refund today when in fact UHAUL confirmed that the straps were cut. Management needs to learn how to communicate properly with customers to give best service possible.
The Owner is a miserable man, I rent him a van, pay for the van, and the insurance and, even if operated, I go out to look for a team. the van was damaged and it took almost 3 hours to return since it did not run. At all times I was in contact with the office and called customer service, which they tell me that I can use the van on the day that I stipulate necessary. Today I go and he tells me that I have to pay again. The manager of UHAUL ROOSELVERT Ave. No word, no good. my recommendation 0.
Our experience started out with the uHaul dealer on Hanover Rd in Spring Grove. They never sent us a confirmation email, so we called and let them a message the night before. We never heard back. My husband called a uhaul number to see if anyone had info on our reservation. The lady he spoke to said there was no email address on file and the pick up time was 4pm. My husband gave him the email address TWICE on the phone and made it clear we needed the truck as early as possible. The lady was helpful and told us to call the Roosevelt Ave location first thing in the morning and they would try to help us.We got to the Roosevelt location the next morning at 8am. They had a truck! We were very grateful. When we walked in we were not greeted. We walked up to a man behind the counter who turned out to be the manager, Jacob. We gave him our information. I asked if everyone was in a bad mood because they were miserable and not friendly. He said he was not in a bad mood. He gave us our paperwork, told us to check the gas gauge and the truck and to have it back by the next morning. When my husband asked him if we should tell him about any damage we noticed on the truck, Jacob said it didn’t really matter because we had the insurance. So, we left with the truck.It was raining the day we moved. My husband was driving the truck and he called me to tell me the gas gauge must have been wrong, because it was 3/8 full and the contract we signed said 7/8 full. We had only driven about 6 miles at this point. We were upset that we didn’t actually check it before we left, but again we were just grateful to have the truck!We got to the house we were moving and started filling up the truck. I opened up the passenger side of the truck and the windshield was leaking inside the truck. Not a small drip, but a steady stream of water. We kept putting stuff in the back of the truck and then noticed Another leak coming in from the “mom’s attic” section. We already had it filled with boxes, furniture and mattress and boxspring. The stuff was soaked.When returned the truck the next morning. The gentleman that checked the truck in took our paperwork and told us he would be right back with our paperwork. He came back and asked to see our paperwork again. Then he informed us that they gave us the wrong truck!! At that point we knew the gas gauge was definitely wrong. The gentleman (who was very nice) told us to go in and talk to Jacob because he wasn’t sure how to handle this situation.Again, Jacob was rude. Not only to us, but the employee helping us also. He asked if we had any issues and we told him about the leaking. (We has pics and a video that he was not interested in seeing.) He told us who to call about the damaged furniture and that was it. We asked him about the gas situation, since we were given the wrong truck and he said it was our fault because he told us to check the gas gauge. That was very true, and we did not do it. Our fault. A simple, I’m sorry about the issues you had with the truck, but I can’t reimburse you for any of the fuel would have been perfectly fine with us!! We were pretty irritated at this point and my husband told Jacob that his employee was much nicer than he was and that didn’t seem right since he was the manager. Jacob told us to have a nice day and we left.Now we are waiting to see what problems we have with our insurance claim since our paperwork doesn’t match the truck we rented....

Horrible experience! Never use this location for anything. Charged me $30 for a fill up when I went 15 miles and the gas meter never moved. They should’ve used discretion on their policy, but they want to be cheap. I’ll never use this UHaul location again.
Please save yourself a lot of frustration and use a different location!Horrible customer service. The GM has a very short temper. He raises his voice and uses degrading language when speaking to the customer. I rented an auto transport. When I did not want one of his employees to take a photo of my DL AND Credit Card with her PERSONAL phone, he immediately became very agitated and started raising his voice and berating me. Then when I hooked up the trailer to my car, he again berated me, stating that I am not allowed to check the chains nor check the securements, that only UHaul staff are allowed to touch the trailer which is connected to my personal vehicle for a one way rental to Illinois. Lastly. When their trailer was too short to haul my 2010 Toyota Tundra (single cab/ 6 foot bed) I called customer care who instructed me to return it at no charge. I dropped it as instructed, only to be called by the GM, who AGAIN, berated me over the phone and informed me that he would be charging me regardless of what customer care stated.I have been dealing with uhaul for nearly 20 years. Fortunately, this is my first bad experience. Unfortunately this man is the general manager and there is no one who can address the way in which he treats his customers. Again, Please save yourself a lot of frustration and use a different location!
Tanner was extremely helpful. He showed us the truck size, and explained the benefits. We also bought some of the affordable boxes they sell, and he put them in our car for us. A true gentleman, and knowledgeable salesman.
I use the Roosevelt location all the time. Customer service is top notch. Lots of trucks so I only had an issue one time and they went above and beyond to satisfy my needs. Best location ever. And Ive been using uhaul company since I was of age to rent them!

I made my reservation online thinking it would make my pick up more convenient and faster because it automatically assigns you a truck and you check in on your phone upon arrival then find your truck and the keys inside the truck and youll be on your way, EASY!! This is how the online reservation and pick up is supposed to work, Ive done it before. For whatever reason todays reservation went completely different.THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE !! IT WAS SUPER ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING!! First of all, I was not fairly treated and customer service was horrible. Upon my arrival, I checked in on my phone, as your supposed to do, and I went to the truck the app had automatically assigned me to but there was a man sitting in my truck. I showed the man on my phone that the truck had been assigned to me he didnt want to give me the key. So we went into the store and when I showed the manager my reservation he looked at the other person and told him its ok him you go ahead. I was so confused and told him how are you giving him my truck when your system assigned it to me first. Ive never felt so taken advantage of. Like I said the point of doing the reservation online is to avoid waiting time. I then had to wait for another truck to be available and that took about 1/2 an hour of my time. I called CSR headquarters and I was told that if I got another truck what is the problem. Like seriously?? She obviously was not familiar with how the online reservation link works. Your online rental app is pointless if when you get to the store your truck was assigned to someone else and the customer still has to go into the store and wait in line for a truck. THATS THE PROBLEM!! I was not fairly treated by the staff nor the CSR Rep. Im waiting for a call from senior management, this was horrible customer service and I should be compensated. And the staff needs more training on CSR skills on how to deal with system glitches.
Horrible service!!!!! We had a uHaul truck for 25 hours and they charged us for 2 days! Then we told them if we are being charged for 2 whole days we are taking it home to load more stuff and we were told we were not allowed to use it for the remaining 23 hours that we PAID FOR!!! The man who told us that would not even tell us his name to report him to his boss. Unbelievable. Will NEVER use this place again. Employees were incredibly rude and should not work in customer service.

THE absolute WORST EXPERIENCE Ive ever had anywhere. I rented a truck August 30th and I am STILL FIGHTING WITH THEM to get $384 back! The manager Jacob is absolutely terrible. Told my boyfriend that if we didnt have money and were so poor we shouldnt have rented a truck in the first place. I was about to be homeless!! They tried to have it so we returned the truck all the way back to their location from New Jersey until the guy realized we just needed a one-way. Jacob stepped in and told us that transaction of $345 was cancelled and we wouldnt pay or know the exact price until we got to the NJ location. The next day they over drew my account and took out $345!! I had no money for gas for my car and we had to scramble and ask people for money to move! Jacob told us the price would be the $19.95 a day $0.99 a mile and we would pay at NJ because again.. we wouldnt know the exact price! I called this location, Jacobs personal # he gave me and customer service. Everyone was rude, not helpful, couldnt do anything about the charges! So we kept it until someone could call us back telling us what was going on. I had a negative balance in my account for 5 days!! And they charged $38 in a different transaction and no one could tell me what it was for! Good thing theres Penske. Never Ever using Uhaul again. We are STILL fighting TODAY!! 12 DAYS LATER to dispute all of it. I have no money, Im stressed beyond belief and were getting lawyers involved.
They put a hold on my credit card (dated to hold until 1/11/2016!!!)when I rented a truck but didnt release the hold when the truck was returned & paid for with another card. Still dont have my money & its almost 2 weeks later. Cant get a person to answer or return a call or even get a manager. & the customer service center is just as worthless. Never never again!!!!!!

I helped a friend move things into a unit, so I cant rate on price or customer service or anything, but I give it a 5 out of 5 for being creepy. Not only are the halls kinda spooky, it comes complete with lots of general mechanical whirring and the occasional ghost telephone ringing.
I gave it a 1-star because they charged my card without prior authorization. I was not signed up for auto pay with this card, I was only used for a one time transaction. But since they had the card information they decided to charge the card. I had to plead with the management, which were quite rude, to get the charge reversed.
I had a trailer hitch installed here. It took the guy a while, but it wasnt a brand new car and it would have probably taken me much longer. It looks and works great.
Horrible service. Very disrespectful and unprofessional!!! Had a client go pick up a transport. The manager decides to give my client the personal information of my girlfriend to the client. Stating they are unable to rent to my client because there was a balance on my account. Which had nothing to do with my client. So now my girlfriends credit card info. Personal info. and home address is the hands of a stranger. So thanks a Jacob Cliggetts. Your a real winner.
There are better storage places. No climate controlled. The units are made of wood. Ive seen roaches and other bugs. You never know whats in the storage unit next to yours. Poor lighting.

Something as simple as getting a part, these guys cant handle. Bought a part, it was not what I ask for, try calling the store to correct issue, cant get past a answering service who will not get them on the phone. So I have waste more gas to go to the store again to get resolve. They are useless as the boxes they sell, wait a box is better at list it will get the job done.
Crooks! The lady at the register told us our total was 368.16 . we went to get our 100.00 refundable deposit and they kept it plus said we only ever paid them 268.16. The lady at the register must have pocketed or lost our money. Now they are saying we dont get our sercurity depost and we still owe 50 some dollars. These people are frauds. General manager degrades and belittles his employees in front of customer. If i dont get my deposit back i will be calling the police and better business borough. This is crazy. If u can at all costs avoid this location.
Made appointment for the install of wiring for trailer towing. Arrived 15 minutes before appt. Barely got spoken to, and sat waiting until 30 minutes past appt time and our vehicle still hadnt been started on. Left and not EVER going back. Not recommended if you need prompt and courteous service.
I have used uhaul many times never had issue. So for the ones that complain bout small things I pitty u all...just 😢..keep up the good work uhaul....keep everyone moving😘😘😘😘.

The lady with the short blonde hair is extremely rude. We came in asking a question about my reservation that was for the next day. She slammed her keys down, rolled her eyes, and started yelling about how they closed soon & she didnt have time to deal with it. She made another guy come inside from working on a truck to help us. I do not recommend anyone getting a rental from here.
Will not install a hitch unless you buy theres. When i told them i have a uhaul hitch already i wasted more time just trying to get only an estimate for install. Then when i finally get around to somebody that can give me an estimate im told my new hitch cant be put on cuz it needs to be new AND in the box. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY!!!
Awesome even though I was skipped for service overall I give them a 4 star because I felt I wasnt acknowledged at first but then I was taken care of by the gentleman name Jacob great and awesome guy. I recommendThey were a little over worked that day.

I had an appointment to have a trailer hitch installed yesterday at the U-Haul on Roosevelt Ave in York. I made the appointment 10 days before the date of installation. When I got to the store I had to wait in line for over 15 minutes with nobody acknowleding me while I waited. After I got up to the counter the guy said it would take about an hour for the install. While I waited and other people were in line I heard the worker ask his manager if he could leave to make his mortgage payment- lol - WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IN LINE HEARD AND WAS WAITING! Unbelieveable what people will say in front of customers!... I waited in the lounge area for approx 30 minutes before a manager came up to me and said I have some bad news for you... The trailer hitch didnt come in. I was really dissappointed because I had planned to go biking this weekend. Now we have to make other plans. :( What upset me the most was the fact that I paid extra $$$ to get it there in plenty of time. When I told the manager who I spoke to (Corrine) and that she told me by paying the extra it would get there in 3-5 days (PLENTY of time from when I made the appt) he told me she didnt work there but in a call center. I specifically asked her where she worked becasue it sounded like a call center and she told me she worked at the Roosevelt Ave location. Not only did I get dissappointed but lied to as well. Judging by the other posts I see here I would not suggest that anyone use this U-Haul unless they like having their time wasted. U-Haul- dont make promises you cant keep and PLEASE get some training on good customer service skills. If you dont you wont be at the location for long...

Crooks! Lied and said the universal brake controller they sold me two months ago wouldnt work on new vehicle. After I researched it and found out it would. I confronted the man. Then he had another employee call me and say they would have to charge $259 instead of $59 for the installation they charged me two months ago. What bunch of BS because he wanted to sell me another brake controller. Dont spend a dime at this location! There crooked and the immature employees are out to set you up and rip you off! I WOULDNT RECOMEND ANYONE TO VISIT THIS PLACE!

Took 46 minutes to make the reservation and the wiring harness install was the sloppiest professional job Ive ever seen. There is a wire dragging under the car, one hanging down behind the bumper, and another one resting on the exhaust pipe. They charged $70 for this horrible job.
