I went here a few years back because of a nail in my tire and a good friend of mine recommended this place. I went and waited for about over and hour for them to tell me my tire was absolutely ruined and the entire thing needed to be replaced. They made it seem like I should not have been driving on it at all and made me scared with how they were talking. They said the nail was in the wall of the tire and it’d be $120-$150 dollars to replace the ONE tire. I told them I could not do it that day and they decided to be cute and put my spare tire on my car, I did not ask them to do that at all so I asked for them to remove it immediately. Then the guy tries to charge me for them putting the spare on my car and tries to belittle me after I explained I did not ask for them to do that. It all felt so shady and I was upset it was going to cost that much. I later went to discount tire and they patched the hole for FREE and told me it was a super easy fix and no need to replace the tire. Do not go here if you’re a young woman by yourself, they will definitely take advantage of you!!!!! Go to Discount instead they always take good card of me. These people just seem to want to squeeze unnecessary money out of you unfortunately…

Our engine light came on while traveling through Albuquerque. We were fortunate to find this business. They were very busy, but because we were traveling they checked our car out right away. The repairs were extensive, but they finished that afternoon. Then called us a couple of days later to find out how the car was running. The owners were so kind. We highly recommend this business. My father recently broke down outside ABQ while on a cross-country trip driving a high performance car that had not been driven in a long time. The car needed major repairs to the transmission and clutch, and it was not driveable. After calling 6 other places in the area, this place was the only one that agreed to look at the car the same day it broke down. They were busy, but accommodated us due to the situation.They repaired the car as fast as possible, knowing that my father was staying at a hotel waiting for completion. One of the parts encountered a shipping delay, so they ordered a second one and it got there faster. Gene and the team were very helpful and accommodating in getting my father on his way to complete the trip. Once it was repaired, he drove the remaining 650 miles to the coast and the car ran beautifully the whole way. I have driven it since, and it feels like brand new. Gene even called my father to make sure he made it the rest of the way safely.Thank you for the finest and fastest repair possible, and for helping my dad during his accidental stay in ABQ.

We were passing through New Mexico on our way to AZ. Its about a 12 hour road trip for us, in about halfway through we noticed our tire pressure was off. Found out we had a small puncture in the tread of the tire and werent sure what our options were. Luckily for us, this place was nearby. They took us in and helped almost immediately. Even gave water to our dog! The service was amazing, friendly and professional. We are back on the road and couldnt have done it without them. Thank you so much!

Old Town Tire & Automotive is terrific! I picked up a nail. When I called, they asked me to stop by to evaluate it. They looked at it & scheduled a time for the next day. They drove me home & picked me up when it was done. Everything was completed within a couple of hours. They were friendly, fast, and inexpensive. I will definitely go back!

Was out in alberquerque on a road trip when my engine started overheating. AAA recommended this shop and they did not disappoint me! Professional service from a to z. Turned a 11.5 hour job into a 4 hour job. Everything works perfectly and they even called me the next day to check up on me. Thats A+ service in my book

In Fall of 2020, I took my wifes C250 in for routine service. We asked the proprietor of Old Town Automotive to check the brakes on the C250 because we started to notice a grinding noise in certain situations.The shop claimed to have done a diagnostic on the brakes. They claimed that they were unable to reproduce the grinding noise, and that the brakes looked brand new and did not require replacement. We assumed theyd done a good faith job, but after a few months of driving and the grinding noise getting progressively louder, we took it to the dealership. To our horror, they showed us that the brakes were now metal-on-metal. Our family had been using a car with dangerously faulty brakes for three months.This was a case of life and death negligence, full stop. If you value your life and safety, please avoid them at all costs.

We were traveling through and need help with our brakes. They were willing to help us the same day when no one else would. Very knowledgeable and super friendly. This is the only place I would go the next time we need help when traveling through New Mexico!!

I was driving to Arizona from Colorado for thanksgiving, and hit a piece of debris that punctured my exhaust system... I desperately needed a weld and these guys were incredible! Morning before thanksgiving they fit me in and saved my bacon ! I was on the road by 10am! Amazing.Super grateful, as I type safe and sound w my family here in Tucson on Thanksgiving Day morning. So far, so good. I started using this business after Jims Automotive closed its doors at the start of the pandemic. Jim emailed a fellow customer with a list of recommended auto service shops, and Old Town Auto was one of them. Great job cataloging all my cars issues and advice about when to bring it in for each repair to spread out the cost.

Labor overpriced. 150$ for a very poor job at a diagnosis on my vehicle. Tried to press 1500$ in repairs on me instead of going about it in a professional way. Seems like they care moreAbout the money then reputation. Called my mechanic back home who has worked on the vechile I brought in and he told me to only get a new fuel filter which they charged 90$ for 10 min of labor for ( I sat at the Starbucks across the street).

Old Town Tire & Automotive is outstanding! On a trip our Tahoes transmission suddenly stopped, had to be towed 2 1/2 hours, while we had to return home to Texas. Valerie at Old Town was very professional communicating from a distance and presented several solutions for a new transmission. After driving it home 1200 miles yesterday we can report their work was excellent! First class service that went above and beyond; thanks!!

I love this tire and repair shop, the employees are so nice and they always have free air for my convince.

The people that work here are overall friendly. The reason for my low rating is I got an alignment here after a lift was put on my truck. And now my steering wheel has to be tilted to right significantly for me to be able to drive straight. They said that nothing could be done to fix it and which is to me not very believable. I was told they would try and see what could be done and then never got a response. I most likely won’t go to them again and would not recommend, at least for an alignment.

My husband and I were on our way back to MN when our trailer brakes locked up. We pulled off at the nearest exit and were lucky enough to pull into Old Town Tire. It was right at closing time, but the owners were extremely kind and stayed late (1.5 hours) just to get us back on the road. The mechanic and sales rep here were both super friendly and extremely helpful. I had a flat tire when I got out of work and they were able to inspect it right away and offered to help me install the spare even though they knew I was going elsewhere to get a new tire (due to a preexisting warranty with another company). I definitely recommend them and will be returning for other services.

They’re probably good for cars and trucks, customer service is great but DO NOT take your RV here. We paid $1000 for an in depth inspection on our coach and they kept it for a week and a half and did practically nothing

I had bought a car from this mechanic shop and the mechanic had told me that the car was in excellent condition and it did not run any codes. There for I bought the car, the next day the check engine light came on, to me it was kind of mysterious, that it came on the next day I bought it. to me I believe he reset the check engine light before I had bought the car. I had to replace the whole transmission and brakes and radiator spending thousands of dollars. If only I had knew it had many different codes piping up. So if you are planing to buy a car from this shop I suggest you not !!!!!!!!!

Just about to leave town filling up across the street, when I noticed a leak underneath my truck. Rolled into town tire and automotive across the street. They had a lot of work yet to do on other cars yet took me in rather quickly. A problem was determined and the repair time stretched into the next day. That is okay as I needed more rest. The repairs were done very accurately and the quality checks or spot on this is a professional team they all were good together I highly recommend them.

Alexs expertise and attention to detail was quite impressive. It was clear that he really cared about offering expert service at a really affordable rate.The oil change for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra included a 40-point inspection where they did a full inspection of my vehicle. A few of the areas that this included were belts, hoses, liquids, tires and battery.Alexs honesty and integrity shined through as he took the time to explain the recommendations for my car. He gave me the great news first, my car was in great condition! This was such a great thing to hear since it has quite a few miles on it. There were only a few things that he recommended to increase the performance and efficiency of the vehicle. He also gave me a timeline for when I should probably look at having some these repairs done.I cant recommend Old Town Tire & Automotive enough. INCREDIBLE costumer service story, best service we’ve EVER had !!My husband & I were pulling a uhual cross country when what we thought was our brakes started acting up. I looked for the closest shop right off the highway & Old Town Auto was conveniently right off of exit 157. We were 40 minutes away & after calling ahead they stayed open over an HOUR later for us. The technician Andrew took one look at our truck & knew what was wrong. Since we were traveling with a full uhual & truck bed, Andrew figured out how to jack it without taking off the trailer. Amanda & Valerie helped us get a AAA discount & a warranty on our new wheel bearings. To top it all off they put our truck & trailer in their gated lot, gave us a tarp for free to cover it for the night & Andrew woke up at 7am to let us in! We could not recommend Old Town Automotive more, thank you so much for getting us home safely.

Alex Ochoa and his helper were nothing but helpful and informative when we came into the shop. He assisted us right away and taught us what our tire shop should have when we purchased the tires for our RV. He checked more than just the problem tire and we were sent safely on our way. He was a great example of an honest, hardworking business owner.

Having broken down while traveling and not knowing who to trust, I found that Jacob and everyone at Old Town Tire and Automotive were just absolutely superb. Ive lived a few blocks from this place for 2 years - and hadnt used them for some reason. Then I needed a car battery, and I read their reviews - it was all good, so I stopped by. Great service - and quick. Plus ... I know this is going to be hard to believe... when they tested everything, they told me the alternator and starter both passed - it was just the battery. I cant tell you how many times mechanics have suggested I fix/replace something that was still working. These guys were up front - everything worked but the battery. Very cool.They got me in and out - with a great battery and warranty - in no time. Ill definitely use them again.

Initially, I gave these guys a good review. However, that was before I found a shop that did all of the work for half the price without a diagnostic fee. I had agreed to Old Towns fee (even though I knew what was wrong with my car), as I never imagined that they would quote me so much to do the work. My car has automatic windows and the motor had broken on one of them, in addition to the cracked intake manifold, which was the main problem that needed to be fixed.When they called to tell me how much it would cost, I was dumbfounded and told them absolutely not. I asked if they could at least secure the window, since I was paying them $150. The man offered to tape it for an additional $50! Fortunately, when I picked up my car, they had decided to take mercy on me and tape it anyway. The window fell down within the week. Im so glad that I shopped around. The Start Shop did all the work I needed for less than half what this shop quoted me for just one problem. I would strongly advise shopping around before you fall for that diagnostic fee like I did.

I have gone to a couple of shops throughout Albuquerque to have odds and ends done on my vehicles and I came to the determination that I would just need to do the work myself if I wanted it done right. This thought has since changed after a line on my transmission gave out while I was on the Interstate. Luckily I was close enough to an exit which is where I found this garage conveniently placed a rocks throw from where my problems began. The staff were all very knowledgeable and the demeanor was welcoming. Not once did I get the vibes that this place was a rip off and they went out of their way to accommodate my needs. Not only did they fix my car but they also gave me a list of things that I should have taken care of at some point, which was the first inspection my car has had since I bought it on Craigslist. The cost for the work was worth it and so far so good. I will be going back and having them to make the other repairs in the future. Thanks to everyone there! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone who is in the area! Great Job!

Excellent customer service Ive fixed two vehicles here they fixed a water pump on my truck. I also took my suv here and they were awesome took there time and figured out what was wrong with it didnt just charge me for any part and gave me a warranty on the work and only charged 35$ for diagnosis compared to nearly 100$ at other places. I highly recommend this place!!!! I would recommend this place to any of my family and friends!! If you want excellent customer service and a trustworthy mechanic shop look no further!

When I asked about a garage to get it fixed the front desk said the best place was next door at Old Town Auto. They got right on our tahoe and had it done in no time. I recently took my automobile to this place three different times and they still could not get it right so then I took my vehicle to a small mom-and-pop Automotive place they were able to diagnose what was wrong with my vehicle it was the alternator Old Town Tire and Automotive actually put my vehicle on a diagnostic machine how could it not show up that it needed a new alternator but they got me for over 300 I would not recommend them

Traveling across country and broke down. Our AAA recommended this facility for the trouble we were having. From the gentleman in the tow truck to the entire staff at Old Town Tire and Automotive, AMAZING!!! Friendly and caring. Was able to fix the problem and squeeze us in on the same business day. Whoever drives the green van with the Old Town Tire decals on their car drives like a complete psychopath and runs red lights. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they drive. If your driving is that bad, I can only imagine how bad the service is here.

Phenomenal car service!!! The prices were great and the customer service was the best we’ve ever had. My mom and I had a malfunctioning headlight that we needed fixed while driving from Utah to Florida. We weren’t sure if it was a wire that needed replacing or the actual headlight, as we were told by another car place in Utah that it might be a wire. They dropped us off in Old Town to explore while we were waiting and picked us when they were done. The people working there were all very friendly and accommodating. And the cost for the repair was much more reasonable then corporate places like firestone and jiffy lube ($50-60 versus $30-40).

They wanted to charge me $50 for just jump starting my motorcycle. I had to pull my bike to the best western to find a decent person to help me and not charge me to use jumper cables. I would never give them my business after this.

I was traveling through ABQ and a tire blew. The nice lady behind the counter surly went out of her way to help me and the tall tan gentlemen in the shop even went the extra mile to check underneath my chasis for damage.

We have been driving on I-40 to visit the old town of Albuequerque as suddenly the window on drivers side broke. Driver was sitting on the broken window while driving. taking the first exit possible, we stopped at old town tire, explaining our situation and asking them for something to clean the car.They were so friendly, especially Shop Manager Jacob Ortega, not only to clean the car so that we can drive to the car rental, but also to contact the car rental company for us to ask the next steps to take.Once again thank you so much for your help and this excellent service.

We travel out west each summer in our 1997 Jeep Wrangler. Old Town is our main stop for service in the midst of our trip. They do excellent work at very reasonable prices. I was in a huge jam with a flat tire and had to be up in Taos (2.5 hours away) to screen my movie The Boy Who Found Gold, they were able to replace the tire and get me on the road no time! The people are great! They make you feel at ease in what could be a tense situation.

We have had our vehicles serviced by Alex and his team of mechanics for many years. Every time weve been happy for a number of reasons. First, Alex himself is a gifted mechanic. I cant tell you how many times Ive driven into the shop with some unexplained car malady only to watch as Alex figures out the problem in a couple of minutes. Second, all work done is carefully explained and an estimate is given before anything costly is done. Third, Alex and his team go out of their way to make the customer happy.An example of this last point happened just yesterday. I brought in my best car-friend, our 1976 Fiat Spider. The drivers door has been giving me fits for a long time and everyone I consulted about the problem was afraid to take on the job. When I took it to Alex he studied the situation, diagnosed the problem, and said he could fix it in an hour or two (they were busy that day). After an hour I dropped by and the guys were just finishing up. More than just fix the door latch and lock, they were putting the paneling back on (I had removed it a couple of years ago to try fix the issue myself, like most guys who own these old cars). When I got the car back, Alex and his mechanics did much more than I asked for...and for no additional cost.We dont live in Albuquerque full time, but I save all my auto work so it is done at Old Town Automotive when we are in town.

I paid $117 for a transmission diagnostic service. They told me my shifter cable was broken and would cost $450 for the part, plus 5-6 hours labor, total almost $1,000. I asked if they were sure it wasnt just the shift cable bushings. They repeated, no, it was a broken cable. I asked them if they could show me the broken cable. They said no, because the car was already down off the lift. I got a second opinion at another shop. At that shop, the mechanic popped the hood and pointed to the problem: the bushings. In fact, if the car had been on the lift, they couldnt have shown it to me because the cables attach on top of the transmission (front wheel drive car.) That second shop replaced the bushings for $80 parts + labor, about $900 cheaper than Old Town. Also relevant: the dealership quoted $550 to replace the cables. So Old Town was prepared to charge almost double the dealership price for an unnecessary repair, and when I asked them to show me the problem, they lied.Update: Old Town did refund the diagnostic fee when I contacted them. I cant in good conscience change my rating, however, because the facts remain the same.

After I found out my normal mechanic shop was in the process of being sold. I decided to bring my wives car in to have the oil changed, tires rotated, and brakes checked. I was fully expecting to have to have the brakes replaced since they were the original brakes on a 2008 car. After their inspection and test drive, I was informed that the brakes did not need to be replaced and they were in good shape. I walked out the door feeling like I was treated right, by an honest Repair Shop!! I even scheduled my truck to have its service done next week! Thanks Nate and Alex!

I have extensive experience in automotive sales and service and like to think that I understand the business fairly well and have a good eye for both scams and, more commonly found, general incompetence. They treated my beat up, high mileage car with great care and respected my pickiness and preferences in car maintenance.When a repair they recommended failed to fully remedy my issue, they took it upon themselves to perform an additional repair free of cost to make my vehicle work correctly.The prices were more than reasonable, and repairs were performed much more quickly than I expected. Running an independent auto shop is very difficult, and the increasing shortage of quality technicians combined with the increasing expense of necessary tools and equipment makes it extremely challenging to both employ top-grade mechanics and keep prices low. In my two experiences so far with bringing two different cars to this business, they have shown to me why they stay in business when so many other small shops are closing their doors.I want to especially thank Jacob at the front desk for his great work.

Been using Old Town Tire for a very long time. To start the 4 star vs 5 star is simply for two reasons, too busy at times, and the fact they are one of the higher priced shops in town. For the good, number one is diagnostics. They WILL figure out what is wrong when others just cannot. Need some brakes or an alternator replaced? There are cheaper choices. Electrical gremlins or crazy Diesel miss behaving? I simply would not choose anyone else. The second big benefit is EVERYONE screws up. And Auto repair is easy to do it with. Old Town Tire will take care of it. That includes a very costly series of issues with some top end engine work. Oddly enough years before the same issue crept up on a different vehicle with a brand new engine and extra warranty purchase and that other shop refused to fix it. I got rid of that vehicle as a result. So dont just weigh out price, consider a shops talents and reputation honoring warranties. Let me add also a comment above about extra work .EVERY shop looks for extra work for revenue. However I like how they will recommend what I need, not just what the books says. Manual says flush power steering, but it still looks good? You wont hear Old Town recommending to change it for example.

We purchased a vehicle from a third party and while on the freeway it broke down. We had AAA tow it to to Old Town Tire & Automotive who told us the engine had seized. Although the situation was dire and nothing else could be done, they were very empathetic and understanding, not to mention extremely friendly and accommodating. We could not get any repairs done because the cost out-weighed the value of the vehicle, but our experience proved there are good people in the mechanic world. I would recommend them to anyone.

I took my car here to get an alignment done and little other work done. they charged me 250.00 for the so called alignment and the repairs that needed to be done. i picked up the car and the car was swerving to the opposite side of the original swerve. also what they were suppose to fix was never fixed. screws were loose and my oil pan is leaking still. i will NEVER take my cars here again. BEWARE. i have to take it to another mechanic to get fixed now. thanks guys. NOT

Just picked my sons car up from Old Town Tire & Automotive after having it towed there this weekend. These guys were awesome if you need any type of work done on your vehicle I highly recommend them!

I was in Albuquerque for training that was a week long. While there, I had problems with my personal vehicle. I called Old Town Tire & Automotive and they quickly provided me with prices for it being diagnosed, towing, etc. The person who answered the phone was very friendly and helpful. They made all the arrangements for my vehicle to be picked up, worked on, and even kept me in the loop of where they were at with the work they promised to do. My vehicle was picked up around 2pm and was fixed by 530pm the same day. I was very impressed.

We arrived early evening to ABQ and noticed the thermostat was in the danger zone after stop and go traffic on Central Ave. We found a hotel for the night close by and were relieved to see an auto repair shop right next door. After checking out of the hotel the next morning, we took the car to have it looked at. They were able to take a look right away for a diagnosis and by mid afternoon with a fan replacement and a check of the a/c system, we were out on the road again.Being out-of-towners, we were very happy with the quick service. We brought in a custom vehicle that another shop wasnt able to work on. Alex, Jacob and the team at Old Town Tire & Automotive not only were able to do the work we needed but they also found another issue I didnt even know about and fixed it before it could cause major repair costs. Their attention to detail saved me from damaging expensive parts on my truck and kept me on the road. I cant say enough about how happy I am with their service. When other mechanics are willing to refer to them for the really tough work you know they are good. They will be getting all my work from now on! Thanks guys!

Overpriced.

My wonderful old 1990 truck had a check engine light come on again. Scary thing...…...I called Old Town TIre and they fit me right in WITHOUT an appointment!!! They checked all my fluids and everything they could at NO CHARGE to me!!! How wonderful is that...…??? While there I got my oil changed and got to visit with my family at Old Town TIre. Thank You all for everything...……..It seems my past posts are not always showing up on Google, the way they do on Facebook...…….I did some checking and I found its only showing Ive done ONE post for Old Town Tire ON GOOGLE, when Ive done several for serious reasons...…... To make up for this problem, whatever it might be, me or the site, I just want to say that Old Town TIre and the family there, have come and picked me up on the freeway when my truck broke down. They arranged to have my truck towed, as my insurance had failed to set me with towing. Amanda took me to work while they made sure my truck got towed to their garage. They have saved me when my brakes were going out...…..so many things and ways they have helped me BEYOND what a service center would do. I wouldnt take my truck anywhere else...…..these people are HONEST and FAIR and as available as they possibly can be...….thank You to my Old Town TIre family. God bless you all...…….even the new guy Sean!!!

This shop is amazing! Knowlegable staff and people friendly its hard to find a good reputable shop around town anymore. If you want good quality work this is where you wanna go. Being in the automotive feild for quite some time I have sent my friends and family to Alex & Jacob and I always got good respnses from every single one. Im a technician my self but when I cant get it done they can!

I needed help fast to replace an alternator. It was done in two hours. Great work and all employees helpful.

WARNING- BUYER BEWARE!I am very disappointed with the dishonesty of Old Town Tire and Automotive. I was in a difficult & desperate situation. I was referred to OTT&A. I made the mistake of informing Jacob that I knew nothing about vehicles. Jacob gave false information about work, parts and prices. A COURTESY DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION MADE A SMALL JOB QUICKLY TURN INTO A HUGE JOB WITH A HUGE PRICE TAG!! Jacob pushed the sale with a diagnostic and warranty. In the end, I was charged for the courtesy diagnostic inspection. Some work was completed with a set up for more problems to arise and other work was not completed at all. The warranty and diagnostic were non existent when the vehicle had problems after two weeks of use. Jacob said I was not able to use their warranty, but was happy to quote another inflated price to fix! I declined to being swindled a second time.I have found many discrepancies with Old Town Tire And Automotives work, parts, and prices. I will report OTT&A to the BBB, 4 Wants To Know, and have an attorney review.No one should be lied to or taken advantage of in a desperate situation.WARNING- BUYER BEWARE!!

I am so glad that i found a great mechanic shop. They know me by name.I was looking at a car on craiglist; so we took it to them to find out exactly whats going on. Jacob printed out everthing i needed to know before making an offer. They told me whats going on in the car and how much i should get it for. I very much apprecaite them. I decided to buy the car (it needs all the 100,000 maintence stuff). And they understand that i cannot afford to get it all done at once so we have been doing it in baby steps. So today i took it in to get the timing belt replaced and they made sure that i had a ride home.Edit: Jacob called me because he saw that a part needed to get replaced while he was working on the timing belt. And he wanted to do it now rather than later to save me on labor.

Jacob and Alex treated me really well. Almost got stranded in the desert and eventually made it to ABQ and were in good hands on some hairy repairs with Old Town. Thanks for your professionalism guys!
