This is a great steakhouse. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really a lot of fun, with decorations of Elvis and Marylin Monroe it makes you feel like you are in a Tarantino movie. There was a bit of a wait, but its really worth it. The service was friendly and attentive! Probably the best steakhouse in Albuquerque.
If it wasnt for the insanely good food I would call Monte Carlos a dive joint. I mean come on, they have a Velvet Elvis portrait and hoods from drag cars hanging from the ceiling. Awesomeness incarnate. The steaks were perfect, the owner eccentric and the selection of alcohol nextdoor at the liquor store ( pass thru in restaurant) is oddly intriguing. Recommending this to everyone I know!
Food was fantastic!Steak was cooked medium rare just how I like it. Baked potato was okay, meat was the main course which was delish.Margarita was strong yet not too much. The server we had, Sharon was on it. She touched in periodically never went without. She was wonderful.Go ahead and put your name on wait list. There was an hour wait.
Wanted to go to a steak house and saw a article about this place. . We said, Why Not. . . Absolutely will go here again. Had prime rib and baked potato and for dessert I had a apple pie. . .we got there and there was a 45 minute wait so we sat at the bar. Michael took great care of us and we ending up eating at the bar. Food was Great. .Customer Service. .Excellent. When I return to ABQ, I will be back!
Went to Monte Carlo for their prime rib special, was a complete flop! Prime rib was overcooked, according to the chef the cut I got was the rarest. I should have been informed, I would have ordered a ribeye or NY strip! Fries were the best! Had a glass of wine, very nice pour and reasonably priced. Service was excellent, should be trained to check food status!
Great local spot. Was shown on diners & drives with Guy Fiery. Old school eatery with a great local green chili cheese burger.
Always good food and service. We come for the atmosphere which hasnt changed in years- just the way I like it.
Best steak (1/2 lb sirloin), best Margarita (Monte Rita), best salad (Greek with homemade zesty Greek dressing), best Tequila Sunrise, best Texas Toast garlic bread, best atmosphere (classic memorabilia dating back to the 50s), best value, best endorsement (Guy Fieri). This place is the best, hands down.
Excellent steakhouse, deceptively hidden behind a liquor store. Best kept secret, mostly frequented by return locals.
Its a great place to eat. Everyone is so friendly. Food is great!
Steaks always great. Service generally pretty good. Wish they would expand their menu just a bit. Very little to choose from as far as dessert. Monte Carlo Burger! Hard to beat.
The quality has gone down. Their steaks are pricy and my ribeye was thin and overcooked! The salad dressing was watered down!
Best selection in town. Staff was friendly and they have the best prices in town. I was able to get an Irish Whisky that I liked here. Next time I will try out their steakhouse too.
For the most part the food was tasty. But unfortunately the perfectly cooked and seasoned steaks were literally cold. I put butter from my potato on my steak and it didnt even melt. Thats cold. The fries were over cooked (oil tasted a little old too). Battered shrimp were cooked well, but under seasoned. It took a long time to get our food, and wasnt worth waiting another 45 mins to have them remake both our steaks.Seemed as though there could be newbies in the kitchen and execution/expediting issues. Wait staff was personable.
Long wait, Greek salad was a garden salad with a bit of feta cheese in a near Greek saddle dressing, NY strip cooked medium- rare was like a gristle- filled boot. $1.25 for a tiny Dixie cup of green peppers, etc., etc. Total for meal was $32.00. Had I known the quality beforehand, I would not have gone. Do not waste your time nor money.
Husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. Feeling festive we ordered drinks and appetizer looking to enjoy an evening out to spend time together. When we ordered our appetizer we ordered our dinner. Dinner salads came. No appetizer no silverware. Husband eating salad with fingers. When we asked the server if she would bring silverware what we saw was her yelling at the busser. Food was great. Sure would have been nice to be asked if we wanted desert. Asked for the manager twice. Bartender could not bothered to get him. We left and went to another place for dessert. Very very disappointed. Not sure if we will go back.
Seen this on Diners, Drives, and Dives and Guy Fierri knew what the hell he was talking about! Been here 3 separate occasions and every time the food told a different story! Fried mushrooms are a must with the ranch. They were fried to a perfection. They crunchy but soft and there wasn’t an overbearing oily taste to them. The flavor packed a punch that every time I go I get 2 orders. The New York strip I got medium well and when I took that first bite I realized never in my life will I become a vegan because the way that there tasted was perfection. Please visit this amazing restaurant!
Fantastic! The steak was AMAZING!!! I had the 14oz rib eye medium rare and it was cooked perfect! It was served with a baked potato that I had butter and sour cream instead of the loaded, and a side salad with blue cheese dressing (which tasted yummy) the salad was basic lettuce and tomato with a cucumber slice but there was a good amount. I also had an appetizer of fried mushrooms that were really great! Service was great! She was busy and did a good job considering how busy she was! Im DEFINITELY going back and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The atmosphere was very PLEASANT
First restaurant in our lovely Burque since the pandemic to have the fast, accurate, and kind waitresses. Ours was Maria, and she was awesome. Thank you Monte Carlo!!! Pride yourselves and pat each other on the back, including the cook staff who made the delicious food!!!
Genuine old school neighborhood dinner place; fresh food attentively served and at a fair price Service was especially good -- Thank you, server Teresa and bartender who cheerfully made the Margarita right. My half-pound ribeye special was tasty and a fine medium rare while my Ladys larger top sirloin was a fine piece of meat, but cooked just beyond her preference for MR.Greek salads and other sides were good, but a slight off note -- the rice pilaf was plain white rice (like traditional Uncle Bens) with intermixed kernel corn(?). (My wife thought from a can.) Not the expected seasoned long grain and wild rice. All in all, a good meal, in a pleasant atmosphere, served cheerfully.
Monte Carlo is a throw back to the 70s style/ themed restaurants. Dimly lit with laughter filling the air. The only thing missing is cigarette smoke hanging in the air like a thick fog. But I digress. The steaks at Monte Carlo are always done right. Its one of the best steak dinner values in Albuquerque. The baked potatoes, and salad are the perfect complement. I fully recommend Monte Carlo for lunch or dinner.
The fourteen month wait was worth it. This is a steakhouse. The only greens you find are in a salad and appetizer. No sides are green. The steak was freaking fantastic. This is not a fancy dress up place. And if decorum is your goal this is not the place. I have dined in the best steak houses in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans D.C. And many others and the beef on the plate rates along with them. If you want to impress you partner then dress to the nines and go to Papas or Brennans and have a great meal. If you just want to make sure they have a great meal - frills set-a-side. Then head on over to the Monte Carlo. You will not be disappointed.
Absolutely delicious food. My fiance loves the steaks. I had the fried fish. My son had the chicken strips. Salads are simple but delicious! Always friendly service. And food came out fast!
Everything was cooked to the highest standards com the prime rib, to the burger, to one of the best Philly cheese steaks I ever had, to the baked potato, the bomb French fries, and the salad with all the veggies being crisp and fresh.A delectable eating experience!
Its very nice at Monte Carlo liquor. The men and women are very friendly and the place is very clean. They even help you take your liquor to the car. The speak to you with respect. I love them
In town from Washington for business, followed google reviews and found this place. Staff is super duper! Prices are outa sight! Great little gem in Albuquerque!
Exactly as advertised. No frills meat and potatoes steakhouse. My wife wasnt as keen on her steak as I was but thats solely her taste. I was very happy with my steak and potato. It reminded me of Sunday dinner growing up. And flat out, the price cant be beat. Will definitely visit again.
Food and service was excellent. And always busy. But dont mind waiting for good politeness while there.
Excellent old style diner food, good American favorites, chicken fried steak, excellent steaks, great Mexican food. Cant go wrong.
Waited on hold for 17 minutes to place a to go order...finally drove there. After being ignored by the bartender for another 10 minutes I finally asked for a manager. He was very nice...shed a few tears because apparently he cant find any good help...Thank God for Shelby she was able to get myborder taken!
Great food. Excellent service (Stephanie). 1st time here. But not the last time. Owner George came to the table and said hello. Only bad was the homemade baklava was out.😫 But will be back again to try it.
Now this is the place you want to go eat a steak! Perfect old school, no thrills steak house that knows how to properly cook your steak, and char grilled to perfection 👌🏻 Located on the back of a package store and totally unsuspecting if your not local. We really enjoyed it and everyone at our table said their steak was delicious. Our waitress was super friendly and nice, and very informative when I asked her about the menu items that I did not realize were featured on the show DDD.
I searched all over the city for an amazing steak. I heard about this place from asking people where to go so that i could take my boss when he came into town. At first, looking at it was not what i expected but that did not intimidate me. We stopped in and the host was very friendly and shared some conversation while we stood in the long line waiting to be seated. This was exciting, this place must be good! Only when I got my plate in front of me did I realize we had found an amazing dinner venue that I will be returning to. Enjoy the food, try the specials.
My Family Loves GREAT Steaks!.. &.. I had a Great Salad & Grilled Cheese.. It is a BUSY Restaurant.. go early!
This place is a restaurant but feels more like a bar .. dark and sticky tables. The lady that came to us at the door was very harsh and not happy to see 5 adults and 2 two kids. But the lady that waited on us was very nice and we tipped her more. The food was served hot but almost 40 minutes later. the decor was nice, lots of Elvis, a couple of car hoods, and other beer logos. overall for me it is not what I expected, it is much of a bar feel..not for children.
Not sure why this place has so many good reviews. The one good thing was service was friendly. Restaurant itself isnt clean, and it is run down. Our silverware was dirty & worn out. Food we ordered was completely mediocre. Appetizer of fried zucchini was overcooked. I ordered a loaded baked potato, and the bacon was all fat, had to remove. Honestly, would never come here again.
Enjoy one of the best made steak, or prime rib, made the way you like it, complete with baked potato salad and a margarita. These folk are busy but we got seated quickly...
We went early for rib eye and they were already out. We loved the place and enjoyed being there
I had a burger, it was ok. The fries were outstanding
Excellent food & fantastic service!! The salad dressing tasted house made. Its the best Ive ever had. The steak was cooked exactly like I asked. My boyfriends pork was a little undercooked, but the waitress had the kitchen fix it & brought him fresh fries with his pork chops cooked through. They were pretty good as well. I will definitely come back.
Arrived here tonight to find both the menu has gone up in price at least 20%, it smells in here, the floors and table I ate at were filthy. Tables are sticky… really sad to be honest.
This is the last great steakhouse in Albuquerque. The Monte Carlo has always been on the list that included legendary Burque steak houses like the Town House and Pauls Monterrey Inn, but now its the only one left. Besides the historical significance, this joint by the river is worth visiting for more than a couple of reasons. The steaks are hand cut, the old fashioned way on a big broiler by the bar. The restaurant is lit to relax and comfortably filled with deep woody tones and plush upholstery too. Theres a basket of crackers on every table and the salads are as simple as they are succulent. If you dig a burger, then there is no finer one to be found in this town. If you want to know what Albuquerque was like in the before time while eating some of the tastiest steak and seafood dishes available, the Monte Carlo is a must.
First time there with a friend. Her steak fingers were gross. She liked fries. I did not. My BLT was on point. Fried zucchini was good. Service/ waitress gets a 4 fr me. I will never return. Saw one cook on his phone, touched his nose, the two cooks hi-fived a cook coming in. No gloves. Hats being worn backwards. Just not very professional or what looked to be not very sanitary. When orders were ready, baskets-plates ready to go were just “flopped”/ dropped on counter. Waitresses blocking walkway chatting away. Not an overall pleasant experience! Will not return or recommend. That place needs a major overhaul. Fr seating to cooks. Just gross.!
Havent been here in years. There is a reason why it is still around after all this time. I like the kind of Dive Bar/Old School atmosphere. My food was really excellent. This place doesnt try to be fancy and I like it. Simple straightforward good steaks and sides at a fair price point. Ill be back.
Awesome hole in the wall steakhouse. Food tastes made-to-order fresh and portion size matches the reasonable price point. Come early to avoid the crowds however, I would argue it’s worth the wait!Garden salads to start were simple yet delicious, prime rib cooked medium and pork chops were done perfectly and a solid baked potato to ensure you leave full.I’d highly recommend this steak house to any and all carnivores!
They always have great steaks. Maybe the best in Albuquerque. Great staff and great atmosphere
Always very good! Great service, comfy atmosphere. Lou keeps it going perfectly!
Within 45 minutes, the Prime Rib Special was sold out. The liquor store connected to the restaurant had too many drinks hanging around outside. There was a knife fight, too.Sorry, clean up this place!!
It was my first time ever been in there. I was told about from a good friend. The food and service was great.
Great steak, the fries leave a little something to be desired. 2 out of 5 got the baked potato and were much happier with their choice. Surf n turf is one of the best entrees offered.
Wish I had been there for the prime rib but I missed it by a day. Our server was attentive and the food was delicious!!!
This place really kicks it old skool. Its like a 1960s era steakhouse, with a bar. Low key and comfortable, and the steak was delicious and cooked just right.
I Ordered some food Medium rare around 8:50 whats the last dinner of the night cooks got mad my food was burnt and overcooked when I called down there they tell me that kitchen is already close theres nothing we can do call tomorrow why should I call tomorrow it should be fixed now its not my fault your staff wanted to go home if you didnt wanna do the order you shouldnt at took the order Does this look medium rare to you cause I know this is Well Done way over well done
We wanted so bad to love this place. We had read about it and couldn’t wait to get to Albuquerque so we could go. The first night we got there around 7 and the wait was over 2 hours. So went back the next night and waited an hour. We were so disappointed! The cheese sticks were from a box and still cold in the middle when we got them. My chicken breast had could flavor but so over cooked it crunched. My husbands steak was just your run of the mill steak nothing really good about it. I will say our waitress was great and very friendly! Please know we were not expecting an out of this world meal but we were expecting more then average.
The wait to be started was long, but the food was worth the wait.
It was 15 years since the last time I went. Exactly like the last time I went, excellent food at an honest price. Great service as always.
Guys are great, my family and I go there all the time.
Busy, but didnt have to wait long. Staff looked like they were working hard and cohesively. Food was delicious. Steak was tender.
GREAT customer service. Paula the server is the best. Thanks for the pleasant experience
Excellent steak and amazing service. Worth the stop during a visit to the area for sure.
Very delicious. Deserve a great steak from a great steakhouse once in a while. 🤗
Their burger is really good and steaks are tasty. They need to work on the fries. They were way undercooked. 3/5 people at my table had them and they were all undercooked so not just a fluke. Don’t order off the menus drinks because they messed up a simple Moscow Mule.
Love this place with all the food on the menu...been going there for years. Weve always ordered our steaks/burger medium well. Today, I didnt appreciate the server lecturing me on how I should ordered my food. I dislike how she talked down to me. For the guy behind bar thank you for making it right on our messed up order. You are awesome.
Se cool dive atmosphere. And Sam tasty steaks. My husband and I are here celebrating our 30th anniversary having a nice lunch . I would take a picture of the food but we ate it as ll. I think I saved room for the baklava sundae though !
This has been the best steak experience Ive had in a long time the food was excellent the service was excellent the atmosphere was excellent
Good service, good food. Fried shrimp not as meaty as usual.
My whole life Monte Carlo has always been the best. Love the food mmmmmm!!!Bull LuceroUSMC
Classic old school spot on central... who can be against a liquor store/ resturant thats stood strong and made it through the years with no television or social media advertising, just word of mouth...
You looking for one of the best steakhouses in the area, lets just say this is the choice for locals. Reasonable prices for mouth watering arrest of many choices. Steaks were done perfectly, service was great. Ambiance cannot be beat. Felt like home. The owner, George, is the most genuine person; we will be coming back thanks to his warmth.
A little disappointed with the roast beef sandwich with onions. When I saw it on the DDD show on the Food Network the cheese on it looked a lot fancier than the 2 slices of yellow cheese that ours was served with! Other than that...good place to eat at.
I came here with my cousins about a year ago. We had a great time and the food was phenomenal. So tonight I’m back in town and they asked where I wanted to go. I said how about that steak house where we had a great time. So here we are and I’m outside because the owner said I was to loud about the terrible steak I had. If anybody looks at my reviews they will see I am very professional about my reviews. Hey y’all this place sucks. The service from the get go was terrible and out of 5 steaks ordered only one came out right. I will never come back here
Great food everytime we come to ABQ we stop in bedt steaks every
Drove in from Oklahoma to eat here! Was worth the trip! Food was awesome and service was great!
Love this place greatvsteaks awesome service! Best birthday dinner ever!
Omg Came from Vegas traveled to Texas and our way through Albuquerque we stopped by Monte Carlo Liquors & Steak we all craved a steak and decided to eat here and we waited 1 1/2 hour steak bit it was well worth it
It was delicious. The staff was excellent. I can see why people enjoy going there.
Was good. Always have a good steak when we go
A classic place to eat, great food and amazing service!
We have been eating here, most weekends. Tonight. Sat. Mar 27, was a major disappointment.Salads drowned in buckets of dressing. 6 ounce prime rib pretending it was 12 oz.And, we waited 90 minutes for a table.I dont like a blatant rip-off. If Im paying for 12 oz, I expect 12 oz. My steak was smaller than the baked potato.
Love this place. Been going here for years. One of the best green chili cheese burgers in NM. The small top is also excellent and the service is always good.
Ordered a new York strip, it was kind of tough, everything seemed really basic, nothing fancy for the price.
The food great with a couple IPAs nice. Louie and George known them as a customer for 30 some years. Good guys some fun times.
