Essential stop in Anchorage. I was wandering downtown for my last day in Alaska, which meant I had flexible time to spend. Expressing curiosity will get you all kinds of information - about technique, materials, tools. The artists work in the back so I was able to meet a few of them, see works in progress, chat about favorite materials. I bought as much as I could, and pieces were extremely reasonable. I really can’t put a price on this experience or the generosity expressed over and over to people who came in to the shop. There are many different kinds of art at many different price points, and this is a great place to support.

Genuine Alaska made art, run as a social enterprise supporting Alaskan artists and giving them a marketplace for their masterful creations. Buying here is a great way to support entrepreneurship for Native Alaskans. This shop is almost more like a musuem, take your time there and ask lots of questions - there is a wealth of knowledge to be found.

Went into the store this is the real deal artists/carvers work in the back of the shop and are more than happy to meet and discuss what they are doing. I did meet with the owner great person extremely helpful. This is a great place to buy real Alaska native art and meet the artists.

Owner was incredibly rude and almost menacing as soon as we walked in. We said hello and then asked if he was okay after he didnt respond, and he then angrily told us we could leave. So we walked right back out. It was bizarre and a little bit scary.
