Thursday, 3/28/19, 11:19 am. Hours say open every day 10 am - 6 pm. The store is completely dark, with an ‘Open’ sign sitting in the window, yet the door is locked, and no one is inside. There is a hand written sign on the door instructing deliveries and couriers to drop off at a different business around the corner. So unfortunately all I can review is that clearly this establishment is not open during posted business hours and won’t be anytime today or even a number of days perhaps with the instruction to leave deliveries elsewhere.

I love ivory exchange! That guy, matt has some really neat stuff! Among his things are mammoth tusk (very large!) walrus ivory and some megalodon teeth! I love his place! But I’m not Lauren. I’m her son, West.5 stars!!!!!!

I live in Alaska and have been in this shop many many times now. Family that visit always asks to go here. I generally try and get them to go elsewhere simply because the owners have been rude to us pretty much every single time we have been in here. Most of their items are Extremely expensive. You could spend far less buying directly from the artist or from an Etsy shop. Many Alaskans that carve figures have etsy shops now so do your research before purchasing something overpriced. That being said this shop does have a nice variety of large intricate carvings and everything I have seen seems to be well made.

Just got off the phone with a employee and asked a couple questions regarding a walrus tusk. He had a negative attitude and said theres nothing in it for him like I had to pay to ask a question. I would not recommend them at all. They need some new smarterwmployees

Research before purchasing. The artist cribbage board I purchased was $330 with this shop, plus $22 ship. The artist website, Barrett, had exact item for $160. I also purchased a pair of real inexpensive earrings for $65, if I had the time, I could find them for a third of that. Live and learn lesson with me. I wanted local artist work. I saw the same board for $250 in different part of Alaska and wish I had purchased then or had done my due diligence on my Ipad / Iphone, etc. Kept my phone off for 2 wks and loved that, except it did cost me the extra on this local piece. The senior women that works is very rude, but a man (maybe her son), came out and from office and closed the sale, which he would not come down on his pricing at all. Very laid back man and owner. Research before you purchase and know your pricing. Good Luck!!!
