This store is really nice set up and has a lot of well known hat brands to offer- but the cost is expensive! I was interested in getting a hat- a Stetson- for an alternate options of what I have. The price was over $178. And that was not including the tax! I know that hat stores really have to turn a profit for what they sell- but seriously- I would advise caution before stopping here.
I was visiting Annapolis today and was excited when I saw this shop as I need a summer hat. When I entered I explained what I needed and asked for help finding a hat that would look good on me. The saleswoman was disinterested and told me I would just have to try some on. Fair enough, but then a gentleman wearing a straw hat walked in with his children and she was immediately at his side offering her assistance. I was motivated to purchase a hat had I found one, but left instead because of this.
If youre in Annapolis you have to stop by this gem, amazing handmade hats and customer service that take you back in time. I was greeted and helped by Miranda who walked me through their gorgeous selection of Fedoras. She explained sizing in depth and took the time to search for just the right hat. This is my new favorite store, and I will return soon! Thank you Miranda!
Decent hat selection for in store shopping. I was disappointed that the hat I wanted was on a rack that said sale, but then the worker moved them over to the other side of the rack and stated only the hats on the other side are on sale. False advertising is not cool.
They have beautiful well made hats. The people who worked there were very helpful. They requested people to keep their masks on and blocked off the door when they had full capacity. Asking people to keep on their masks is always uncomfortable but they still pushed past it and were very polite. I felt very safe shopping there during this pandemic. These people truly care about their staff and customers. Highly recommend.
Purchased a baseball cap from Hats in the Belfry a few months ago. Unfortunately, I lost it and emailed the shop to order a replacement. Donna responded very quickly and told me they had 1 left- which they could ship to me. When I set up the payment info, Donna told me she wouldnt charge a shipping fee b/c they hate when customers tell me theyve lost their caps. Tells you how dedicated the store is to their customers and craft!Also- when I visited the store in person, it was reassuring to see they were taking all necessary Covid-19 precautions.
Stopped in on a particularly cold, windy day in mid January and got a great pair of finger-less elbow length gloves. Lots of cute hats: paperboy caps, flapper wear and lots more. I felt great with my new gloves and enjoyed the casual shopping atmosphere. The decorative hat boxes everywhere were very cute too. Looking forward to coming to visit again soon.
Well kept and super clean- covid precautions are taken seriously! Employees were super helpful and gave me a bunch of options and reccomendations when i couldnt find the hat i wanted in my size. Also liked how they provided hair nets while you tried hats on.
Great selection of hats.
The store has a decent variety (although mostly imported) of hats and a nice hat-store location and atmosphere until you are talked down to as if you are not up to our standards.Although I am a hat guy and I mainly wear a Greek Fisherman hat, I always wanted to have a decent American felt one, the day I visited however I was wearing a cheap cap and this earned me an attitude of “go buy somewhere else” which made me uncomfortable.I wish they stay in business and I would love to see more American brands in the store and I am sure I will stop by again.
Very interested in checking out the store. Yet when the 4 of us walked in, with our face masks on, we were met very rudly. My husband loves to buy hats, but felt very unwelcome by the attitude and comments of the clerk. Dont even think about pulling off your facemask if you try on a hat We were very taken back. I was the last to walk in, as she commented to my husband that his mask needed to be better adjusted. My husband who is deaf, can read lips, and communicating is already hindered, obviously with face masks over our mouths is not ideal. He never got a chance to look, because we left. November 21,2020. Nobody likes to be disrespected. We in no way removed our masks, and to be chastised like that was unjustified.
Was looking for a mens summer hat and a very nice, cute employee named Donna took her time helping me since I know nothing about hats! I bought a nice Fedora and cant wait to wear it this summer. Found out that Donna was the manager so I give her props for helping a hat neophyte! I highly recommend this store!
An Annapolis staple. No better place to get hats for weddings, graduations or just because you want to look nice.
Just stopped in today. Lovely ladies behind the counter helped my boyfriend and I both find great hats. Will return when we are back in the city!
I paid for my hat online and purchased 3-day shipping for almost $30 to ensure it arrived before a Derby party that weekend. A store representative called me, the day after placing my online order, to let me know the hat was coming from their Annapolis store and could arrive the next day with regular shipping ($7.95). Like they said, my hat arrived the day after they shipped it for $7.95, instead of 3 days later for $30. Gorgeous hat, well packaged, and in great condition. They didnt have to let me know I had a cheaper and faster shipping option, but they did! What great, honest service! Its so nice to find truly honest businesses out there. I will definitely purchase from them again!
Great selection of hats, mediocre customer service. Despite spending $300 on my hat alone (and I also bought two more nice hats for my husband and my dad) the staff was not overly helpful and one woman took a hat from my 6 year old and put it back while I was standing there watching him try a hat on in the mirror. He was being calm, we didnt have food or drink, they just didnt want him touching the hats... I felt stressed with one lady hovering over my 6 year old, casting sideways glances at everything we tried on. It seemed like she wanted us out the door, which was odd considering we were shopping for many hats for ourselves and for my extended family. At most places, that would earn you great customer service! I left without finding a hat for my 6yo son or for my park ranger sister and buying only one of the *two* hats that I wanted. The younger salesperson at the register was actually nice and helpful but the older woman was rude and unfriendly. Not pleasant to spend time in here. Made me want to go to Neimans instead for the hats.
Absolutely wonderful little shop! I stopped in on a whim during 4 July festivities at the Annapolis Marina hoping to find a hat to go with a grey suit Ive been trying to breathe life back into. I found one that matches quite well, and quality is not sacrificed despite being well priced. For the younger folks that buy fedoras at Hot Topic and such, when you want to upgrade from swag to class, come here.
Best hat selection in Annapolis by far. Really friendly staff, great selection, and fun decor. They have a wide variety of hats from your outdoor hiking style, to cold weather, to more formal attire. The staff is always ready to help you find a great hat and fit. They can also steam and stretch hats if youre between sizes.
I was in the store with my family my daughter is 9 years old she wanted to bye a hat with her dad I was looking at a nice over $100 hat I was about to buy. Then I found out my daughter tried to pick up a hat and was told they are not for kids, she was rude to my baby. So I left with out purchase and will never return.
Great variety of hats from very affordable to very high end. They also have other unique gift-type items. Wonderful friendly service. Highly recommend!
Do you ever think to yourself, I need a store where I can get the best hat? Hats In The Belfry is your place. I only regret I could not purchase all of the hats.
This place is honestly one of my favorites. Great location, awesome costumer service and a wide variety of hats that are sure to appeal to everyone. The price can get up there for some of the hats but they offer hats at pretty much every price point...so dont think you need to shell out 3oo bucks for a hat
If you need a hat, or if you have ever thought about delving into the hat world (baseball caps dont count), this is the place. The nice lady that runs the store is super friendly, and she can answer all the hat related questions you didnt even know you had!
Gorgeous hats! But today a very rude pixie cut employee discouraged my mother and I from trying on items, condescendingly telling us its expensive.Im not sure what compelled her to say something so classist and elitist, especially since my mother had been telling me about this store and was eager to buy me a gift from here. Perhaps it was our race. Or how we were dressed. Who knows.Needless to say, we didnt buy anything :(Unfortunate since this store has such high quality hats, if only it had high quality people to staff it
Different but in a great way
Large variety of good quality hats. Staff is helpful, and reasonably informed.
DON’T GO THERE!!!! 📍📍📍📍📍📍📍A little disclosure I’m Hispanic and my friend is Asian. I’m saying this because I saw a comment of someone saying that she was mistreated probably for her race or her clothes and I totally agreed with her. I was walking around and I came across this store my friend and I had coffee and my 10 year old son had a cup of frozen yogurt, their door was open and I stopped and ask my friend “can we go in with our food?” And she said “I guess because I don’t see any signs.” so we got in. My friend was looking at a over 140$ hat and my son was looking a another hat and I told him to put it back because I didn’t want him to mess it up. So we kept on looking around the store not touching anything but looking at what they have. This short dark haired woman Donna came up and told us “WE DON’T ALLOW ICE CREAM IN THE STORE.” with a NASTY ATTITUDE. My friend said “oh ok” and the lady kept on talking and said “IT WILL STAIN THE HATS!!!” I looked at her and told her “We didn’t know that!!” And she came up with an attitude and said “WELL ITS SAID IT ON THE DOOR!” So I came back and told her “WELL YOUR DOOR WAS OPEN AND WE COUL’D SEE IT.” I think that she needs to remember that Racism and classicism not tolerable in any way I think you’re stock in the 1800’s.btw DONNA that hat looked awful on you.
So glad to see that your store is still on Main St after so many years, I have shopped there many time with family and friends especially my out of town visitors. I no longer live in Annapolis but I was born and raised in the area, worked several doors down, Good Luck in all your coming years
Very nice Hat Store located across the street from Buddys Crabs & Ribs Restaurant in this quiet & beautiful community.
Cool hats, and even cooer staff!
The staff was kind, professional, and very knowledgeable about their product 🙄
Very knowledgable staff and great selection of quality hats!
Awesome selection of hats and wonderful customer service.
Created by an Annapolitan back in the 80s. A unique shop with lots if fun and practical hats.

Great place and a lot of fun people!
Great selection of hats including old school retro
Great selection. Little pricey but expected for the area.
Very wide selection of hats, ascots, and flat caps plus your traditional fedoras. The attendant was very educated on the styles.
Cute hats, good prices. Parking though may drive you crazy
Always enjoy checking out the hats!
More expensive hats for better quality. Just make sure youll actually wear them.
It was so hard not to buy three different hats while I was in here
I live almost two hours from this store white black short haired lady needs fired, she was useless soon as I entered the store then snapped at me like I was a child, very rude woman I am very disappointed will never return again.
