Wow, what an awesome experience! Out of nowhere, my check engine light came on and my car felt unsafe to drive. Fearing I wouldnt make it home, I took it straight to the Organic Mechanic shop. Their lot was jam-packed with cars recently damaged by flooding, and I knew they were short-staffed. I thought I would be hopeful to get the car back within 2 weeks. To my surprise and delight the car was fixed the very next day by 5:00 p.m. at a very good price. Cant say enough, these guys are so awesome! Trustworthy, professional, easy and transparent communication. This is my new go-to mechanic. Very grateful for yall. Thank you!

I went in asking about the media controller. They spent 15 minutes looking at the controller, and did nothing. They then kept me waiting for over 3 hours as they picked over my car looking for work. I did not want this, nor was I asked. Im not going back.

I would not normally leave a review for a mechanic. I am from NYC and I am not much of a car person. Yet, I got great service from these guys. We did not have an appointment, and they squeezed us in immediately. The staff was nice and courteous, this just might be everybody in Asheville. Plus, they recycle the motor oil to boot.

Organic Mechanic bent over backwards to accommodate my tight schedule. They were professional, kind, and generous. I will absolutely be using them going forward and would recommend them to anyone. If you are looking for a mechanic in Asheville, look no further! These are your guys!

We asked to have them take a look at our high/low beam switch. I also requested a NC State Inspection. We dropped the car off to them before opening. I called around 9:15 a.m. to check status of estimate. At this time I was told that my car was in the bay and someone would call back shortly. At 2:30 p.m. I hadnt heard anything from them. When I called he said he would send the estimate. They did a full diagnostic on the vehicle. Informing us of everything from the hood to the boot. I told them to fix the switch only. They called back shortly after and quoted a higher amount for the repair. At this time, I said we would just pick it up. On the way to retrieve the car the gentleman called back and sternly asked that we pay on the phone because they were closing soon. I DO NOT recommend this business to anyone. I am sickened by this experience.

I can’t say enough positive comments on this business. We were really stranded on an out of town trip and they saved the day. First we talked over the phone and John gave us the confidence to drive the 100 miles with the engine light on and the car acting strangely. When we got there they took us in, diagnosed the problem and ordered the needed part. The next day the car was repaired and we could head home the following morning. It all meant a lot to us and John was great. I didn’t feel like they took advantage of us and they didn’t over charge for parts or service which they most certainly could have. OM are the nicest and theres nobody like them. Ive taken two different cars here over the years and they really help you understand whats wrong with your car by going through the assessment line by line and even including pictures of damage so you know youre actually paying for something your car needs. As a young woman whos been taken advantage of by mechanics before, I trust these people because they actually care about their clients and basically hold your hand through the process if thats what you need. They even text you after to make sure everything is going okay!! If you want compassionate car care, OM all the way ✌🚙

All around excellent experience from making the appointment to having my car problem solved. My car is a Chevy Equinox that was making strange sounds from underneath. A General Motors service department had the car for 2 days and couldnt find the problem; Ricardo figured it out quickly and the car is back in great shape again. Thank you!!!

Cant thank them enough. After driving 6 hours to our Asheville vacation, the low power light came on in our Mini Countryman just before we took the exit (!) Not many places work on Minis, but a quick search and we found a place with lots of great reviews. The guys at Organic Mechanic were not surprisingly booked up, but graciously offered to take a look. Unfortunately, it was the turbo, which was very expensive and the parts had to be ordered. Estimate to get us back on the road, one week - ugh. We were only planning to be there a few days, so they mercifully pulled off a miracle and obtained and installed a new turbo and we were back on the road, only having to extend the vacay 1 day. The best outcome in light of a terrible problem. Five stars - highly recommend!

Top-of-the-line car care and repair. Yet it has a friendly vibe.

Had our car serviced for a water leak. They did a great job in the repair and in reporting issues and progress. After using the car just 2 times I suspected a loss of coolant. So I call and explained the problem. When it was looked at they said “it needed a new water pump and stated that when I picked up the car I was told that gunk in the system might cause this type of issue.This was a total lie. Never was told anything but it all checked out ok. In addition to this, the estate included an oil change, my name misspelled, which suggested that they never looked at the original repair records. I responded with I’ll get a second opinion.The second option said. I was wrong about my suspected water leak and it was tested under pressure and driven showing no coolant issues.

Overall just a very pleasant experience. Easy to talk to and honest work. only slight negative is how long it took for diagnostics but thats nitpicking. dont hesitate to get work done here

My experience with Organic Mechanic entirely changed how I view this industry! I was blown away by the detail they provided me about what was going on with my car. They patiently and thoroughly educated me and helped me choose the highest priority repairs. I have very little knowledge about cars, which has left me feeling vulnerable in the past. The staff here gained my complete trust with their honesty and integrity. I will never take my car anywhere else!

I am new to the area and Organic Mechanic was recommended to me for my jeep. So glad I took my car to them. Everyone I talked to was friendly and thorough in their explanations. I have only authorized $100 payment through my debit card, and the rest $139 i told them to go through my warranty company. but they decided that they wanted the money now, so the charged me the whole amount, without even calling my warranty policy. NOT professional at all!

STAY AWAY! This place is a major rip off! In my professional opinion they way over charge for basic services and the service they do provide is sub par.Way better mechanics in Asheville. Amazing that the local news hasn’t written a story on this gross incompetence and laughable estimates.

Everyone at The Organic Mechanic was wonderfully responsive, helpful, and straightforward. They provided more information than I usually receive from a mechanic, specifically outlining exactly what they saw and believed should be addressed. When I wasnt ready to do all the recommended work, they were supportive and willing to discuss options while maintaining safety and performance of my Mini. I would highly recommend them.

Well. This mechanic hasn’t performed the work yet. But I must say. I was semi-stranded with gear shift issues on a Saab. What makes matters worse is that Saab doesn’t really exist anymore and not many people want to work on them. But I called from the side of the road in a frazzled state of mind and the very kind young lady that answered the phone was very helpful and patient with my questions and concerns. Anyway, I limped my way to their location and they made me feel like I’d be well taken care of. They were friendly, reassuring, and up front about costs and expectations and possibilities.Anyway, like I said, they haven’t done any work yet, but I was put somewhat at ease about the immediate future of my car. And that deserves praise on its own. I’ve been to places that were not at all courteous and kind.If their work and expertise end up being as good as the initial sign-in-leave-keys part of the process, then I’ll write another happy review.Stay tuned....

WORST MECHANIC EVER! I agree with all of the other 1 star reviews. I wish I could give them negative stars.When comparing this scam of a shop with other mechanics in Asheville they are usually 2-4x more expensive for lesser qualified work.Way way way over priced!

I cannot express how thankful I am for John, Erica and the whole repair crew at Organic Mechanic. I had an overheat/super charger failure on my Land Rover that left my engine toast. The dealer in Asheville basically just told me to salvage it, which as a big Land Rover lover I couldnt imagine scraping such a beautiful car - I had hoped to really keep this car for the long haul. John and Erica are SO knowledgable about Land Rovers and all their quirks. They were also so patient with me and always available when I called to walk me through the options available and were so honest about the process. They had incredible attention to detail with my new engine install as well as handling the whole administrative side of things with my extended warranty company (who was very reluctant to cover such a large bill and a huge pain to even get on the phone). Obviously not having a car and getting a new engine is never a pleasurable experience, but the Organic Mechanic didnt add to any stress to an already stressful life event and made the whole experience go as smoothly as it could have been. Thanks so much! They will definitely be taking care of my Land Rover from here on out.

I took a used car I bought recently in just to have a full run down on what repairs the car would need. The folks at Organic Mechanic gave me a thorough report with repairs prioritized and relevant parts of the car photographed. They also included aspects of the car that were in a good status. This comprehensive report has been incredibly helpful in my planning future repairs and maintenance on my car.

I had excellent work done by them in the past, but I recently called to see about having an ECU programmed on a Saab. John called me back as he said he would and even though unable to help with my specific situation, referred me to another shop who might. THAT is customer service that I needed to recognize. Thanks so much to the mechanics at Organic Mechanic for figuring out my coolant leak!! The guys were super fast and everyone I met was helpful & friendly. They not only went over everything they checked, but they actually had pictures of each part, including my spark plugs and ignition coils! The pictures helped me confirm what they were saying about the condition of each part was correct. This is especially important to me as I had a few bad experiences in the past with other mechanic shops. Organic Mechanic exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be returning when my car is in need of routine maintenance or emergency repair!

They replaced my struts. Now theyre making a lot of noise, so I dropped the car off with them last week at 8:30 am. By 4:30 pm they had not looked at it so I just picked it up. They never called and offered a new time to look at it, or an apology. Also, turns out the problem was these guys didnt tighten everything down on the struts, according to another mechanic.

So pleased with the service from the Organic Mechanic. They are the most thorough shop I’ve ever brought my car into. Things like photos of issues in my car with explanations and texts to check up on how the vehicle is doing make me feel valued as a customer. I appreciate their commitment to integrity and the planet!

When our 2004 Mini Cooper was having sputtering and stalling problems a top-rated local shop gave up trying to figure it out. We had it towed to Organic Mechanic and they were tireless in getting to the bottom of the problem and most impressively fixing it! All in a timely, courteous, professional and affordable manner. They did both service checkups in a timely manner, ensured I was satisfied, and both times had managers double check the work done by mechanics. The costs were a little pricier than Im ok with and I have since had reason to to believe, the estimates for further work were not exactly on the up and up. The mechanic emails his inspection. The email goes over front to back of vehicle. Pictures and notes are included in emails, which I was impressed by and appreciated. The guy that checked me in answered my questions. This place gave me a good deal for the work that was needed. My van has been running smoothly since they fixed the problem. This was my first time visit and Ill continue as a customer. I recommend them.

RUN, do not walk from this place. Avoid at all costs.. I truly wish there was a choice for negative stars for this corrupt organization. This was the second time I took my mini for service there even after regretting the first time. Apparently there arent many decent choices in AVL for mini service. My issue on this visit is the snarky, patronizing, belittlement provided by Erica when I complained about the shop fee line item. Not a big thing but worth noting the inconsistencies and to have a well experienced patronizing employee not be concerned at all about a legitimate complaint but to rudely legitimize an erroneous charge is truly horrible. BUT WAIT... so I get into my car, after the service tech did a walk around and review of the car including starting it and running it for a bit before I got in, to find the central display completely not working. This is the central display for the radio, vehicle status, etc. When I called them out on this, more excuses, more patronizing nonsense from not one but two people. The two of them then aggressively suggested that I failed to read the inspection report which was designed to attribute blame back to me. Oddly enough, there was no mention of the display unit not working. The inspection report is quite through as it is this companies intent to find as much wrong with the car as possible. The two then mentioned there was a problem with the battery. Again, nothing on the inspection report.I finally became so exasperated after realizing these charlatans do not at all care about a customers concerns. They broke my car and refuse to acknowledge it. A decent, proper business would have offered to figure it out. These guys wanted more money for something they caused. Simple as that. RUN as far and fast as you can from this operation. My guess is there will be a counter to my review from the owner who by the way I asked to speak to three times but was refused that opportunity. These guys are crooks... Unfortunately after a discussion with my attorney this is a he said/she said situation. For me, it is best to learn the lesson of dealing with crooks and share the experience so others may avoid this unscrupulous business. If you have any doubt, read the negative reviews about this place. Lastly, these crooks wrote on the inspection report that I needed a new air filter. About $75 to change it. I thought that was odd as I just changed the air filter a few months ago. So today I took a look. Its practically new. Crooks...

The folks here at Organic Mechanic are wonderful! They are extremely thorough with their inspections by providing pictures and condition ratings on anything that needs attention. Very friendly and considerate of people’s time!

Took my Mazda Miata in to get an alignment and a brake/fluid check up. They ended up telling me that my brakes were too bad to do an alignment, and that I would need to get replacement calipers, brake pads and rotors. They also told me that it would cost me $1400 to replace those on the rear end alone, definite price gouge. I called around and got a statement for $400 at Carmech on London Road for replacing everything on my rear brakes, went to take my car there from Organic Mechanic, and they had totally drained all of my brake fluid without letting me know, and I soon found out as I pulled out into traffic. I luckily didn’t get into an accident and was able to get towed to the other mechanic, where they told me my brake pads and calipers were fine and not in need of a replacement. If you’re looking to be taken advantage of then this would be the place for you!

This referral did not disappoint. Organic Mechanic owner/staff were very professional and honest. Being personable is a huge factor in my reviews. Whomever I spoke with on the phone was detailed and thorough. They emailed a complete breakdown of all systems..not just the one issue. The price was fair. I would go back.

I found the staff, especially John, to be incredibly helpful and kind while my car was being repaired. My car ended up needing to have other repairs that I was not prepared for but, they thoroughly explained everything and sent a detailed report with pictures to show the troubled areas. I was not forced to do other repairs that were recommended but not dire at the time but simply just made aware of them.As far as price, the parts that were needed were priced at value from what I understand after checking with a family member who works on cars frequently, so I did not feel as though I was taken advantage of.I appreciate their honest and would trust them with further maintenance and repair work.

They were prompt in returning my after-business-hours call as soon as they opened the next morning and worked me in that week. They were very polite and thorough explaining what was wrong with my car, and didn’t pressure me to do anything to it beyond the reasons that I made the appointment. After having been duped by many other, less-professional mechanics, I am glad I found this place. Highly recommend

Moving to a new town and finding an honest mechanic is challenging. Overall Ive found that at The Mechanic. They are helpful and communication has been great. Price seems to be high average but I figure thats better than getting ripped off.

Everyone was very helpful about a battery issue I had. Feedback and repair suggestions are simple to understand and make your decision very easy. Repairs were done quickly and I have had no issues with my Mini since the service.

Outstanding service! We were travelling through Asheville and developed a squealing noise in the left rear. Local reviews showed that the Organic Mechanic was highly regarded so we stopped in without an appointment.The service manager kindly inspected the car and resolved the issue on the spot. A small rock had been lodged in the wheel assembly. The service manager gave us a handshake and wishes for a continued safe trip. There was no charge.

Needed my clutch replaced on my ‘96 Toyota Truck and had it scheduled for the following week but thought I’d leave it at John’s suggestion. This was on a Monday. New clutch by week’s end much to our surprise. Awesome service!!!

I have had my old BMW into Organic Mechanic again because she was ailing. These guys are not just great mechanics they are terrific people! My coworkers husband works at OM, so I decided to take my car there for service. Suffice to say, I was blown away by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff! They were EXTREMELY thorough, and sent me a very detailed report (with pictures) of the work they did on my car. My dealership quoted me an exorbitant price for my car repairs and the guys at OM not only did amazing work, but charged me significantly less. Their waiting area is also very nice and clean, and the location itself is in a great tree-covered spot in West Asheville. I suppose my only but would be that they are a little pricey, but for the quality of the work, the impeccable customer service, and the piece of mind of knowing that your car is in the most capable of hands, Ill pay a few extra bucks any day! I work with a local non profit that rehabilitates donated vehicles for local families in need to transportation to work, Called Wheels4Hope, and Organic Mechanic has been with us from the beginning. Their highly detailed explanations of the work that needs to be completed to make a car safe and reliable has been instrumental in our success. They are not only thorough, they are honest, fair, and reasonably priced. I need to know when I place a family in a vehicle that they will have a safe and reliable vehicle for at least two years. With Organic Mechanic, I know this will be the case.

Started coming to the organic mechanic after feeling like I was getting ripped off by a dealership and have never looked back. Its run by good, honest people who just want whats best for you and your vehicle. They are upfront and realistic about what I should plan and budget for in the future but they have never pressured me into getting any services on the spot or anything thats unnecessary. I just moved to Asheville and needed a trusted mechanic for my 2016 BMW 328i. After taking to my new neighbors and reading reviews on scores of auto service shops, I took my car in for a 60,000 mile service. (Yes, I do a LOT of driving for work.) The team at Organic Mechanic was excellent: they kept me updated on what was happening, explained in detail what they were doing and best of all, when the work was finished, the bill was less than the original estimate. (Seriously, when has that ever happened?) All of that, along with a real commitment to protect the environment, mean that I found the company thats going to be servicing my vehicles from now on.

Never has any mechanic been so professional, so thorough, so communicative, so unquestionably honest! Our family now takes all its cars there. And, I now find they support many community charities.

If I could leave 1 star I would. Its shameful that such a dishonest business exists in Asheville. They attempted to grossly overcharge me for an issue that could have been fixed for 1/10th of the cost they proposed.

Great service with Excellent communication throughout the repairs on all of my vehicles. I recently purchased a used Mini Cooper and Organic Mechanic did a great job adding a tow hitch plate to my car. They went to great lengths to make sure it was installed properly and my bumper still looks great.

Personable, thorough, and REALLY patient, (I had to have multiple explanations of what my 15 yr. old Jeep needed), I strongly recommend this shop to newcomers like me who just arent sure who to entrust with the care of their car/truck. I looked at the reviews for several shops, particularly negative reviews and the shops responses to them, and chose Organic Mechanic.

Have had good results in the past, but place is busy and price accordingly now. Most recent visit I needed a fix that takes about 15 minutes. Was suggested to go somewhere else that it would be days before it could be seen. Tiny parking lot is always full and difficult to get into whenever I have tried to stop by. You would do well to handle basic maintenance items yourself as they will have you paying out the nose for the most simple things. But if you have time and want it all handled, they will do a satisfactory job.

Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The work is completed on time as promised and is accompanied by an email of photos and comments that describe the condition on my car, which will be very helpful at resale as well as with comfort that all is thoroughly inspected and the vehicle is road-ready. It matters to me that the company pays a living wage to its employees as a matter of principle, so great service and integrity at a fair price keep me coming back!

Got stuck in the middle of nowhere, NC while traveling for a backpacking trip because my friends alternator died. After calling around, we talked to the guys at Organic Mechanic and they said they had an open schedule and could have us back on the road in no time. We decided to get the vehicle towed to their shop and they decided it was going to be $475 to change the alternator after the inoperable truck was already in their garage. Im no mechanic, but Ive definitely changed an alternator in under an hour, and know the alternator itself only cost around $80 for that vehicle. The shop refused to work with us on price, and had we had the tools we wouldve just changed it ourselves. The truck being in the shop was the only thing keeping us from making it back to Pennsylvania, and when my friend called several times to check on the status of the truck about 45 minutes apart they would not answer the phone. I decided to call from my number and they picked up immediately. Im not sure why they think they can charge such price for for such a minor repair. Maybe the mechanics are extremely incompetent, or the alternator itself is of the highest quality and wound with gold wire. This garage will take advantage of you, and will not talk to you if they feel bothered by your communication. Would not recommend. Terrible experience.

Coming from NYC, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff and service at Organic Mechanic. They took the time to explain everything, make suggestions and references for body work. The attention to detail puts them over the top and I would gladly recommend them.

Ive found they always go above & beyond what I expect from a mechanic. My last visit was about checking over a used car I was thinking about buying - they suggested I stop looking at this brand of vehicle altogether. They then suggested a type that I had never heard of, based on their experience in its reliability. I love the way the Organic Mechanic communicates and how they pay attention to my car. They provide detail explanations of the problem (including pictures), estimates, and they give me a rating on how urgently the work needs to be done. Im not a mechanic and my car is getting a few miles on it, so this is very helpful for me to keep it running in tip top shape.

These folks were really good to us. Wasnt happy about having to replace the clutch in our Xterra but was def happy dealing with everyone there. They gave us good work at a competitive price and works greatly with us. Thank you very much for everything you have done for us.

Im fairly new in Asheville, and Ive tried several garages for oil changes and repairs. In each case there was one thing or another that didnt inspire confidence, until I recently tried Organic Mechanic. I was impressed with their thoroughness and ability to communicate. I took my car in because the brakes were grinding, and they declared it not safe to drive. They couldnt repair it that day (I got there shortly before closing) but they gave me a loaner to drive until I got my car back. They also fixed another problem that my previous garage claimed was just because its a Toyota! Im sure theyre not the cheapest, but feeling my car is being well taken care of has a high value to me!

This was my second visit to O.M. Service was stellar, as before. It was done as scheduled--crucial, because you have to know how much time you have to sample West Asheville cuisine. They were friendly and thoughtful about what to do and the financial and mechanical implications of my decisions. My Honda CR-V is under factory warranty--but I will only take it to Organic Mechanic!

Had a lot of work done on an older suv here. Customer service here is unmatched. Without going into details, I do wish there was more attention paid to details when it comes to the work performed. I did have to take my car back the next day to remedy a few things. John and the team went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with the work. They even took care of a few things I wanted looked at without charge to compensate for the previous hiccups. All around good experience.

I recently brought my 2015 Mini Cooper in for service. The technicians I met were very knowledgeable and took the time to explain things to me. I also found the photographs they took of what they observed very helpful. Needless to say, I highly recommend the Organic Mechanic!

Found an oil leak in the seal around the timing tensioner that I did not know was there. I plan on driving my car a long time. It is important to have a trustworthy repair shop to catch those little things before they become big problems.

Ive taken my car in for routine maintenance twice, and the staff has always done a great job of communicating with me. I always know whats going on with the car while its there, and how long it will take. They have a great scheduling service that they use, and the owner is VERY committed to making sure everyone has a great experience.

Every experience Ive had at the Organic Mechanic has been friendly and professional. Theyre thorough and always provide a clear explanation of what is going on with my car, complete with photos and diagrams. As a layman, that gives me confidence that Im getting the service my car needs and not being talked into unnecessary expenses.

Thrilled with my experience at Organic Mechanic - staff is friendly, business-like, and communicative. The facility is immaculate and minimizes rainwater runoff. I was planning to drive to DC on a Saturday, and had my old Volvo towed in to them on Wednesday night. Sure enough, they called me daily with updates and specific and accurate price quotes, and my car was road-ready by Friday afternoon. Not only did it make the trip to DC, it got the best gas mileage it ever has, and ran better than it has in years! They did all they could to minimize cost for me on my limited budget, while ensuring that my car was safe to drive. I will be in it for the long haul with them - have no doubts my Volvo will make it to 1,000,000 now!

My first visit upon buying my used car was a check-up, which was illuminating and helpful as well as very reasonable. These guys even fixed items for free.So I came back for a 60,000 mile maintenance. They are methodical, honest and good analysts who went over the car with a fine-toothed comb. No high pressure, helped prioritize things, able to quickly take care of anything. I am most happy with both their service and their friendly attitude.. . . a year or so later, Organic Mechaninc is still the only shop Ill take my beloved Cooper to. TOTALLY trust these guys!

Great place to take your vehicle. While living in Asheville this is the only place I have ever trusted to take my Mercedes. They do a great job and always follow up to make sure everything was perfect. Highly recommended
