Ordered a very specific part from here so I could fix my amplifier myself as there is no QSC service center near me. The guy was very helpful.

John built for me one of his Deluxe Reverb amps. I cannot believe the great sounds this thing produces. I am a horrible guitar player, but its hard to tell when playing through this amp. John offered suggestions for customization and was very helpful throughout the process. I highly recommend this amp and this shop!

Unbelievable attention to detail. Custom craftsmanship at it’s finest. John provided sound advice on which equipment repairs were worth the time and how to upgrade my entire sound system. Would 100% recommend.

Bought an amp from the big guitar store online and it was cutting out. I took it in and rather than charge me more than it was worth to fix it, he was honest about the problem and told me to send it back. Will be back next time Im having amp troubles.

Took my ailing amp to The Amp Shop, explained to John the problems I was experiencing. Agreed to pay $25 extra for rush job. In less than 23 hours John calls and tells me my amp was repaired! Absolutely the best service I have ever experienced, I’ve never had repairs done in less than a week! I highly recommend The Amp Shop, you rock John!!

Excellent work and reasonably priced repairs. Over the years Ive had John fix esoteric high end recording gear like a Focusrite ISA 430 preamp to low end Peavey guitar amps. If you really need repairs in a hurry, ask about expedited service. Its an upcharge but worth it if time is a factor. BTW, he builds custom amps too!

I brought my vintage Carvin amp in today to get the input jack soldered. This guy said he wouldnt work on it because he doesnt like the company and has always disliked the company. I was blown away by this arrogance. Seriously dumbfounded.20 years ago I brought something into the Amp Shop and the same guy wont work on my amp because it wasnt high end enough. I told myself that I would never go back. I had been taking my gear to Smashing Guitars, when they were in business. I bit the bullet and went to the Amp Shop this morning and realized not a thing has changed with this guy.

John is a Godsend for this area! Fast, reliable amp and pro audio repairs. He offers expedited service for a very reasonable $25 (which I always add on). Besides the typical amps, John worked on a high end ISA Focusrite preamp for me. He also builds his own custom Tweeds and Blackface amps and does amp mods if you know specifically what you want. Good luck finding this level of service anywhere around here unless youre willing to ride to Nashville or Atlanta

Im from SC. The amp shop wasnt the closest authorized repair center to me, but the amp shop has a website with information and the other places didnt. On the website I found that he is an authorized warranty repair center for a large variety of brands and types of equipment and also repairs anything else as well. I went the extra distance to go to the amp shop and it was worth it. My amp was repaired properly under warranty.

If I could Id put less than a star I would, he was rude to my friend and her young daughter, the amp work was possible and continued to have same core issues. Truly a foul man and badly run over priced business. Wouldnt recommend to an enemy

John converted my 68 Princeton Custom to a completely handwired, original BF Princeton Reverb configuration. The amp is absolutely sublime. The price was fair and the results are just incredible. I highly recommend this shop for your amp needs. One of his hand-built 5E3 Deluxe Tweeds may be next on my list! Whether its repair, upgrading, or a new hand-wired amp, this is the place to go.

Dishonest and incompetent. I brought him a QSC KLA12 powered speaker that had a very pronounced wobble between 50 and 100hz. He swapped out the LF driver and sent it back to me, but when I ran a sine wave through it the same symptom presented. I brought it back and he said it wasnt the same one despite the serial # being the same as on his paperwork, he claimed he had mixed them up on his computer and would have to charge me for another LF driver... ok, this should have been a red flag but I took him at his word. I get the KLA back and, what do you know, it still has the exact same symptom. I email him about it and he says (direct quote):I would double check your sound source as this is the 2nd time it’s been here and I haven’t been able to confirm any problem...So after billing me over $250 in parts and labor he claims that he couldnt find anything wrong with it to begin with. When asked why he swapped out speakers if he couldnt find a problem he said (another direct quote):What do expect me to do when I get a unit in and can’t confirm a problem? I told you so. You were charged an evaluation fee. You brought it back insisting it had a problem so I did exactly what you asked!!! Somehow you think this was wrong?(Note that I never asked him to change the driver, he decided on his own initiative that, rather than telling me he couldnt find a problem, he would replace the LF driver. TWICE, no less, even after it didnt work the first time). John Schuske then boasted that he was the only QSC service center in 150 miles, and kept the 2 perfectly good LF drivers hed removed from my unit. Talking with other musicians and production crew in Asheville you will find this same experience echoed over and over- nearly every professional in town has had this experience with John. Ive given him a chance every few years and he has disappointed me in this exact manner every single time. When I finally had an afternoon to take a look at the unit myself I found and solved the issue in 3 minutes: some of the adhesive holding the dust cloth to the grill had come loose, causing the cloth to flap against the grill at certain frequencies. I cut it out with my pocket knife and the issue was solved- QSC sent me a new grill for free, and apologized profusely for my bad experience with John Schuske at the Amp Shop in Asheville NC. They also advised me to call QSC before any future repairs so that I can be directed to a more competent repair tech.
