Mike lied to me multiple times on my first maintenence at his shop. He had my car for a week and I told him all I wanted was communication about my car due to not getting any communication at another place. I had to call him the first 2 days due to no call. The rest of the week he called me and ended up not charging me the 70 dollars for the part or labor. If you want a mechanic that doesnt lie to you save yourself the time and find another shop. He doesnt have enough people from what I observed.

Not only are these guys helpful, but theyre quick and efficient at assessing automotive issues and showed me a lot of kindness by checking out my truck when I had a bunch of parts jacked right out from under it. The staff were so kind, going out of their way to call around for available parts to help me, all for free. This shop definitely does reliable work and is dependable in a pinch, Id absolutely recommend them. (Plus they have a really cool office)

These guys are great. Took a Forester from a local big name dealership there to have it inspected before a purchase. They found some issues with he vehicle that made me not comfortable buying the car. Returned to the dealer and they didnt believe me on the issues that were found when I took the vehicle in. If it wasnt for these guys I wouldve probably drove off the lot in a lemon Forester XT without any kind of return policy. These guys saved me a lot of money.

Typical 2nd generation scenario...A family business that has obviously lost its passion for customer service. Always short in discussing issues. Answering phones and then stating too busy to chat- Why answer the phone call. Started out loving the father, but time has shown their frustration, the coming to an end of a once passionate business. If you don’t like customer service, get out, your hurting this country. I see a typical transition of a 2nd generation biz deteriorating in the hands of the children. They seem “ENTITLED” to my business without earning it. And with the recent labor price hike, don’t know if he’s worth it anymore. I suggest go elsewhere. Or find that new young guy who has a passion in helping others and feels rewarded when correcting issues. Last experience- offered used parts for finding issues, did it upon his recommendation, problems from day one. They stated to give it a few miles to work in... never worked in... Told to come back with own part and he would take care of it, showed up with own part, charged me again for another install. No warranty on part either. And after the newly installed replacement part still not working properly, it’s like guys, “don’t you check your work?” By judging from the negative reviews, all seem to be in recent months, definitely trending I the wrong direction.

These guys know Subarus inside and out. Ive got a 19 year old WRX and theyve been my exclusive mechanic for ten of those years. Competent guys who work on turbos cars are hard to find. Theyve always spotted problems early for me, but havent been pushy about getting work done that you dont need yet. They have always given me the choice of less expensive remanufactured parts when available, which I like. This is a small shop. Their scheduling system is pretty informal. If you want a luxury dealership experience with a fancy lounge, big screen TV, free drinks and a guy who smells like Axe giving you updates on your car ... this is NOT the garage for you. Summit is BUSY because they have a good reputation. You might have to wait on a part, you might have to leave your car a day longer than you thought. But they are honest and work hard.

AWESOME!! We were passing through Denver for the high country when our check engine light came in and the truck started to stall. I made a stab based on past reviews of Summit and was not disappointed. Mike gave us first class service on a short notice drop in. He kept us appraised of their troubleshooting at each step of the way. We were in and out in 60 minutes with a detailed diagnosis, replaced the required parts, and confidence that we solved the issue. He had plenty of chance to take advantage of us, but we got splendid personalized service at fair rates. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Can’t really comment on their service abilities, but I can say that they are highly unprofessional. Took a day off work to come here for a scheduled appointment to find the doors locked, no one answered or returned my calls. I guess they decided to close for the day and not tell anyone. Sure it’s the Friday before a holiday, but I spoke with them over the phone and specifically asked if they would be here this day and was told yes of course, and then they made an appointment for me, but didn’t bother to show or notify me. Very disappointed to have to go back and change my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from this place. Dont be fooled- when we were buying the car OF COURSE they are going to be friendly and nice. However, it has been a nightmare ever since. Where do I begin...For starters, we bought the car on a warranty. Started having problems with the car (lights coming on, etc) and brought it in to be fixed. The first time, my girlfriend brought in the car and Jay rudely sent her away, blaming the issue on the fact that we put bad gas in the car (his exact words). We needed the issue fixed (lights on meant cruise control didnt work). So brought it back in and insisted they help us- they did some work on the car ($400 of work- even though it should have been covered by the warranty) but after we left, the issue persisted. We were tired of driving 2 hours to have them waste our time and money so we brought the car in to a different mechanic, and they solved the issue easily and showed us how Summit Auto had just done random work on the car to appease us, because they didnt actually know what the problem was.Over the next few months, we had to spend thousands more dollars on repairs to the car, including replacing parts that should have been done before we purchased (they told us it was done, we dont know anything about cars... took his word for it because he was such a nice guy).I wish we had got our own Carfax at the time of buying the car (Jay is a REALLY skilled salesman and somehow convinced us to take his word). He told us the car had been in a minor accident, airbags did not deploy. But today we pulled the Carfax discovered that actually, the car had been TOTALED, and we had bought a salvaged vehicle.Shame on us for being so trusting. We were fooled. Screwed. Big time.Learn from our mistake- DO NOT TRUST THEM. Stay away!

My turbo died soon after moving to Colorado. Who knew that the more fancy engine/turbo you get on your Subaru, the more you need to baby it. Anyway by word of mouth found Summit Auto, who replaced turbo, gave me a loaner while the car was in the shop, and the price was the best among every place I checked. Since then they were taking care of my cars exclusively. What really sets them aside is that unlike your average independent mechanic or dealer, who just needs you to get into the shop to start finding problems real and imaginary, these guys fix what you ask them, and whats absolutely necessary for your safety. If I want something done, I have to tell them, do the oil/coolant/transmission/brakes or some such, otherwise they would only fix the problem, to keep my expenses minimal I presume. Anyway, understanding that made my experience with Summit Auto complete success. Over the years they did my shifter, engine rebuild, turbo, ac, solved the mystery of corroded transmission computer harness, regular maintenance, wheel rotations and alignment. To summarize, no fancy coffee machine in the waiting area, no surprises on the bill, job well done every time. Owner is a hardcore backcountry skier, which is a plus for me.

There is a very good reason why this repair facility has almost exclusively 5-star reviews. Mike is an experienced repair technician, and he is especially knowledgeable about Subarus. He is also a good person with excellent business ethics. I have a 2011 Forester that had begun several weeks ago making a knocking sound. I first took it to Vista Subaru in Silverthorne, and they said the car had a bad rod bearing so it needed a new engine--their rough estimate was $5000-6000. Then a few days later they came back with an estimate of $10,000+. When I called Mike at Summit, he said he could replace the engine for $3,000 and would even add in new front and rear brakes (also needed) for $400. The work was completed this week for the stated price, and yesterday I drove the car off the lot, then 600 miles back to Texas, and it is like a new car. I had pretty much given up and was ready to send this car to the junkyard rather than pay $10,000 to the scoundrels at Vista Subaru. Mike went out of his way to help me. He is not only a top-notch Subaru mechanic but a top-notch person as well. He has earned every word of the positive reviews that you will see at this site.

I have been using Summit Auto for over 10 years now and would not recommend another shop to have work done on a Subaru. You will not find another Subaru shop that does the quality of work at the prices they charge, most often they are about half the price of the dealer or less. I currently have a 2002 Forester that had a timing belt replaced and a 1997 Impreza that had the two front axles replaced, clutch and all 4 struts. The work done was quality and at very fair prices. My first experience and how i found Summit Auto was when I took my 1991 Legacy to another private shop in the Denver Tech Center. The cars drivetrain felt like it was binding up / dragging tires when turning corners. This private shop said i needed a new tansfer case which is the whole entire transmission at the cost of $3400. This got me to searching for a used transmission which is when i came across Summit Auto. Mike at Summit Auto gave me a couple of question to ask this private shop about the work and the result ended up being a tow truck was sent to pick up my car as is, so boxed up all of the parts. Summit Auto ended up fixing it for $600. I have been a loyal customer ever since then. I just sold that 1991 Legacy 6 moths ago with 275,000 miles on it.

Not what we expected. We were referred to Summit by several WRX owners in the area. I was going to be out of town and didnt have the time to replace the clutch on our 2002 WRX, so we took it to Summit. After looking at our WRX we were given a quote for the repair, which was priced very reasonably. When the work was completed, the price had increased by $400 because they thought our WRX was a Legacy, and had quoted the price for a Legacy. The pressure plate was replaced as well, and I was fine paying that extra charge since it wasnt visible before dropping the transmission. I wasnt fine with the part being a refurb however. The clutch feel took roughly 3 months to break in, the throw was roughly half an inch for full engagement of the clutch, this led to many stalls for my wife as she got used to it. We were told this was normal. Normal to me would be how it felt from 2002 when we bought it, until we took it in for repair (at 112,000 miles). The diff/gearcase was also just under a quart low on gear oil.We have now put roughly 25,000 more miles on the car, and I can already feel the clutch going out. Ill be doing it myself next time.

I am so happy that I found these guys. The reviews here were helpful and I found my experience to be just as good as the others. When my old 93 Tracer Wagon that I got for $400 from my neighbor finally died after six years, I was excited to get an Outback after researching for around a year. Last month, I finally was able to get a clean 99 Outback for $2300 - about $1800 under book - knowing that some work would probably have to be done. I found Summit after having an overheating issue that thermostat replacement on my own didnt solve. Jay, was great - super knowledgeable and very straightforward. I got their Updated 6 Star Headgasket Package Deluxe Plus package which included: NGK Platinum Spark Plugs, Timing Belt, cogged and all smooth idlers, Alternator & AC Belts, Spark Plug Tube Seals, Intake Manifold Gaskets, Valve Cover Gaskets and Washers, Separator Plates, Thermostat and Gasket, Oil Pump Re-seal & O-ring, Cam Seals, Front and Rear Main Seals, Oil, Oil Filter, Antifreeze, Engine R&R, Radiator Flush, MILLED HEADS, and all valve clearances adjusted. All of this service was only $1,150. I also had them put on a new water pump, tensioner and full synthetic fluids in all four drivetrain areas: engine, Automatic transmission and both differentials - which they did for minimal parts and labor.I could not be more happy with the work they did, the manner in which they do their work, their personal passion for Subarus and last but not least, their pricing. Thanks to them, I feel like I now have a brand new 1999 Outback that is good-to-go for many years to come now. I am so happy with my Subie!!!It would be foolish for any Subie owner to fail to use these guys and Summit Auto for work on their beloved Subarus. I think it would be worth it to seek them out if you are as far North as Ft.Collins/Greeley, or as far South as the Springs. Really. I have found Jay, his dad Mike and their team to be completely trustworthy - are rare find these days. - Now if I can just find a shop like theirs for my wifes Caravan...
