Ive been a vocals student with Benji for almost an year now. I love the atmosphere, the staff and the rigor with which the lessons are taught. The Musicians Woodshed it is not inclusive for all students. They actually have a preference or pick what students they want to teach.

Our son has been taking drum lessons here for two years. We are so pleased with the level of instruction and genuine care of the teachers! Would highly recommend Cameron!! It has been amazing to see our son improve quickly and develop a passion for music.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Tricia for about 3 months. This was her first time with any music lessons and we are so pleased with her progress. It seems like all the instructors are well qualified and trained to work with children. The Woodshed has a wide variety of lessons/ activities that they offer. You can tell they accommodate to all music styles and personalities. The environment is fun and its easy to keep small children occupied if you are waiting during sessions. It was recommend to us by many of our friends and its lived up to our expectations.

This place ROCKS! My children take guitar and vocal lessons at this hip- beyond- words music school/ guitar store and LOVE it! They are highly motivated to practice due to the monthly Woodshed Live! performances where students and teachers showcase their talent on a stage in front of an enthusiastic crowd. They feel like super stars as they are introduced and accompanied by their amazingly talented teachers under the bright lights. The icing on the cake is being greeted by charming British owner, Tony Walsh, who always makes you feel welcome and takes the time to give kids a tour of his recording studio. His stories, jokes, and educational tips keep kids and parents, alike, coming back for more!

The Musicians Woodshed is a total gem for the Lakeway/Bee Cave/Austin communities! The staff is super professional, the store is well-stocked, and the opportunities they have for their students are one-of-a-kind. Ive never heard of a music studio that taught and encouraged students to perform and record! This is exceptional. Ive worked closely with Kelly and Tony, and they are both wonderful. I also booked a 3-hour recording session with Tony and he was amazing. Totally worth it. The sound quality and production coming out of this studio is exceptional. I love everything about this place!

My family cannot say enough good about this music shop and school. Besides teaching music to students (my three children take guitar, piano and voice), Tony, the owner, as well as everyone who works there actively foster a community of musicianship. Students are encouraged to perform live (there are two areas set up within the school to do so, and there is a monthly live performance night at which any student can perform) as well as to write and record their own songs. The school takes lessons from the academic to the applied, and you see how each kid thrives and grows in the spotlight. You will love Tony, who has a ready supply of stories for all ages that will leave you in stitches.As a parent, I am forever having to drive my kids to this camp and that rehearsal. Unlike most obligations, though, I mark Wednesday as my favorite night of the week when we get to spend an hour at the Woodshed among the loveliest teachers, staff, parents and kids you could hope to meet.

All three of my sons take class here and it is truly the highlight of their week. This is the only place I have found that makes learning music truly FUN! If you have never been, it is worth a stop in just to see the music store and amazing vintage decor. This is a true treasure in Austin - the Music Capitol!

I take drum lessons here with Bryan and have so much fun with him in our 30 minute lessons. I really like the place. It has a really cool look to it. Everyone there is SO nice! My sister also takes lessons there. We both had went to a different music school before. Im really glad we switched over to the musicians woodshed. It is SOOO much better than where we went before.

This is the only music store that I go to anymore. The equipment they have is fantastic, the staff is always friendly and helpful. Ive sent 2 of my guitars in for minor repairs and maintenance and they have always come back to me in better condition then they were when I sent them in. Great, friendly place for lessons and gear. My son enjoys his guitar teacher (Dan). There are plenty of opportunities to perform, and even classes that put together bands! They have a comfortable area to wait for your kiddo, and glassed-in lesson rooms so you can peek if you want.

I recently recorded a very personal song in the studio here at The Musicians Woodshed. Since I was a newbie in the studio, I wasnt sure what to expect. I can say without reservation that Tony is an absolute professional with a great manner that inspires the creativity that led me to record this song in the first place. Between Tony walking me through the recording process one step at a time and with the collaboration between me, Tony, and Ryan Holley on guitar, I was literally able to pull the song out of my head even better than I had imagined it for years! Tony and Ryan were on the same wavelength and brought me along with them until we had all of the tracks laid out. Their guidance even helped me play other instruments on my own song without some of the amateurish mistakes one would make without professional guidance during the recording session. Another impressive thing (although I should have expected it anyway) is Tonys mastery of the studio gear and software. Tony knew how to set up his mics for acoustic instruments quickly and perfectly the first time and was also very adept at the recording software. We wasted no time trying to figure anything out leaving us plenty of time for the actual mixing and creative work (very important if you are on a budget and cant spend studio time playing with the software). I would be willing and honored to serve as a testimonial and reference for their work, both personally and professionally and give Tony permission to give my number out for this purpose.

Musicians Woodshed is the most wonderful place on earth! My son has been taking piano there for several years. He loves the songs he plays, and I dont even have to nag him to practice! These lessons are nothing like the boring lessons I took as a child!

This place is a true jewel for those who have kids with a musical inclination. I am so happy to have found this place for my daughter to explore her desire to perform. My 12 year old son and I walked into the Musicians Woodshed a couple of years ago within a few weeks of them opening their doors looking for a place for to buy a bass guitar and perhaps get some lessons. We were given a tour by the owner and one of the guys who worked there had my son playing a couple of bars of songs before we left. We were both hooked. Now, after three or four space expansions, Ive had thee of my sons take lessons there on bass, guitar, and drums. Weve done summer rock camps, evening concerts, and garage band. I cannot say enough about the quality of the instruction, the friendliness of everyone who works there, and the overall extreme coolness of everything about this place. You would be crazy to go anywhere else.

Learning to play and instrument can be challenging especially as an adult. I have been so pleased I chose the Musicians Woodshed to learn to play the guitar. My instructor Dan is so patient and encouraging. A great environment for all ages to learn!

The Musicians Woodshed is a great place to take lessons, buy instruments/equipment, or just hangout and have fun! The people are very friendly and will work with you to get what you want; whether it be a new guitar or playing that song you like. There is a cool recording studio... and they lead Woodshed live which helps playing with a crowd.

My daughter has been taking violin classes at the Woodshed for several months. Her teacher is great and she really enjoys the classes. The environment is very positive, nurturing and encourages students to develop their skills and enjoy all types of music.

We took two beginner drum lessons during the summer. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owner who was so excited to bring my son in to show him the drums and give him some tips. My son LOVED the lessons with Brian and even though we have a packed schedule this fall, we are going to take some more lessons!

We have been attending the Musicians Woodshed since it opened, and have been thoroughly pleased with the pleasant inviting atmosphere and the caliber of teachers who take great care and patience with the students. It is one thing to teach the technical aspects of instrument, but the students who arrive to learn dive right into the music that attracted them to learn in the first place.

Two years ago we walked into the front door of The Musicians Woodshed and felt like we had finally found a home. There is something really magical going on within these walls. All of the teacher and staff are some of the nicest, most talented people weve ever met. So many of the students here are PHENOMENALLY TALENTED. Tonys madcap enthusiasm for music, the students, (young and old alike), the customers, (who become friends), and this business is inspiring. My son was matched PERFECTLY with his teacher, DON, who has become a member of our family. Since moving to this part of Austin from out of state, it has been a big adjustment for us. Our son has THRIVED here because of the Woodshed. He is now a confident performer, a songwriter, musician, and hes even recorded a song in the Woodshed studio that has changed his young lifes trajectory already in so many exciting ways. Weve done GARAGE BANDS on the weekends and ROCK CAMPS in the summers in addition to all the other opportunities made available. We often say that if it werent for Don, Tony and the rest of our Woodshed family, we wouldnt be living the fun life we are living here in the ATX. There arent enough words of appreciation for all their support, skills, confidence building, performance opportunities, and all out ROCKnROLLing our lives! This place is amazing! They have everything set up right and designed for an inspirational and creative learning environment for all ages. They are organized and on top of everything and make it a fun and welcoming place to learn music.

I have just started taking voice lessons with David Adams. This is after a 20 year hiatus from voice lessons. David has a fun approach towards helping me understand the fundamentals of using my core to create a better stronger voice. The prices are reasonable and they have many teachers and times to choose from.

Visited here yesterday. It was a hive of activity with extremely welcoming staff. Great setup and access to quality instruments, recording, rehearsal and performance areas. As someone who works in music education, I can say that this place gets it right!

The owner Tony is a great guy that really cares about the kids. He spends time with almost everyone personally who comes through the door and makes them feel welcome. Im a full time musician in austin... performed around US for OK too long. Known tony for a years... Hes grea and has a wonderfull store...well stores ...In Austin. Just purchased a $250.00 guitar 0ct 2018. Love it. I had stopped at Strait..Guitar Center no luck... love the new guitar... He still doesnt know i bought it. Great guy great store.. highly reccommend.
