Not a place for Regular Joe Boat Owner. I purchased a used 2008 Sea Ray 240 at the end of 2019 from a private seller. The boat was in great cosmetic shape and the sea trial seemed fine. I cleaned and shined the boat out of shear excitement awaiting the summer. I did find a few things that needed to be addresses mechanically, but she shined up good.A few friends having warned me about the local boat mechanics in the area so I opted to contact Marinemax Baltimore. I knew full well that Id pay top dollar for any repairs but it was worth it for the peace of mind. In fact, let me say now that I have no issues regarding the actual repairs that were done. Some of the other services I paid for, thats a different story. The issue I end up having was the lack of attention to detail, the customer service, the feeling that I was not valued as a paying customer, and the lack of accountability for things that were brought to the attention of management, and as of this, still have not been addressed. My boat was washed, polished and clean when I dropped it off. It was there 4 months and when I picked it up it was filthy. Wasnt expecting it to be detailed but come on.Once I paid my final bill of over $6500, I discovered that my boat had been side swiped, some of the services that I paid for were not completed, and when they finally completed some of them, it was subpar. I paid to have the outdrive sanded and painted. I had overspray on the hull of the boat, overspray on the brand new stainless steel lines I paid to have installed, and overspray all over the stainless steel prop. I found empty hydraulic canisters in the bilge, the cover was crooked and barely reattached, and worst of all, I found two completely soaked pads of hydraulic fluid laying underneath the engine in the bilge. I sent pictures of everything to the Service Advisor Sarah Woodling. The Service Manager Elliot Anderson wouldnt call me back. I called in an effort to speak to someone in charge and spoke to a Sales Consultant, Perry Avery, who was the only person receptive and helpful. Anderson finally called me back but his response was basically to say Sorry About that. No solutions offered, nothing. I was told that my emails and photos were forwarded to the GM, Michael Gisch, but as of this, I have not been contacted.Like I told them in my emails, my boat is a dingy compared to the Yachts they sell and service, but I expect the same attention to detail when paying hard earned money for service. I dont expect overspray on everything, fresh damage, trash, and oil soaked pads in my bilge. For all of the money I spent and the end result, I couldve taken my chances with a local mechanic and/or marina. If something changes I will update this review. I wont hold my breath and Ill certainly never go back. This is a picture of the boat clean right before I dropped it off. Also pictures of the damage, trash, and overspray all over the brand new parts I paid for. The pads under the engine in the bilge were completely saturated and likely sitting down there for weeks if not months.

Perry Avery and the Baltimore Marine Max team are top notch. From the first communication, to sea trail/survey and delivery, Perry and his team kept me informed and went above and beyond anything I ever expected. They made buying a 10 year old boat a wonderful experience with a flawless journey home to Rhode Island. I will definitely do business with them in the future.

Well deserved kudo’s for the outstanding service that Perry Avery provided during my recent search and ultimate purchase of a Sea Ray 250 SLX from MarineMax. The entire team: Mike in finance, Mitch and Raphael at Lake Hopatcong were all coordinated and led by Perry who made sure that my first-time boat buying experience was absolutely superb. Throughout the search process, Perry was knowledgeable and available both during and after regualr business hours. All that said, what really sets him apart is the after the sale customer service and follow through. He assisted in arranging transport for the boat, arranged shifting over the warranty registration and addressed myriad other post sale items and questions.Bottom line: I just dont know how the experience could have gone any better than it did.

GREAT OVERALL BUYING EXPERIENCE! We were total rookies to boat ownership looking to get our family on the water. Although this was somewhat daunting for us, Perry Avery (and the whole MarineMax team) patiently helped us every step of the way and made the entire experience easy. In the end, he answered every question we could throw at him (with unbelievable responsiveness) and helped us find the perfect boat for our needs. MarineMax has our enthusiastic recommendation.

Been going here for years. Raphael and the yard crew know what they are doing. They always hoist and wash my boat with care. They place my boat where i can get all my projects done fast and efficiently. The paved yard is so nice. The location is minutes from west marine. Also a great view while you work on your boat. The mechanics and the yard cruise have always been honest and straight forward. Why go out to the country when this place has everything in a safe clean working environment.

Literally the worst. Has boat listed as Meticulously maintained and ready for IMMEDIATE delivery!, No work needed!. Whoever writes these ads needs to learn the meaning of these words. Made an offer that was accepted. Find out boat needs a part installed due to factory recall (why wasnt this done before listing it for sale?!) Survey delayed. Once parts are installed, spend money on Survey and a flight down to see it in person, Boat wont start. Finally get it going, Survey finds other issues that werent disclosed. Lots of time and money wasted due to unprofessional broker. Its as if they never inspected this boat at all before trying to sell it. Ive met more professional sellers on Craigslist.

We recently purchased a boat from RJ Winter at the Baltimore Marinemax store. it was the best boat buying experience of the 16 boats i have purchased in my lifetime. From locating the exact boat we wanted out of state to the final delivery in Baltimore. RJ and the entire team in service & sales spent a lot of time delivering the boat to us in pristine condition and educating us on the the very complex systems on the boat . We strongly recommend them for both, sales & service .

Apparently, covid-19 has made boats so scarce Perry at Marinemax could care less about earning my business. I asked him for a quote on my trade and the prices of two boats they had in their inventory. After promising for two days to get back to me right away and asking him several more times my text for the prices he finally replied with only one of the prices i asked for. Perhaps as a courtesy gesture? No follow up and no word on my trade. He must have been sure i wouldnt by a boat from him. He was right. I ended up purchasing the same Scout 235 xsf from another dealership.

This past week our boat left us with no forward or reverse on the water and I had Tow Boat take us there on the recommendation from the marina where we were going. Jay told us to go have lunch and the mechanic would take a quick listen when he got back from lunch. In our case we had it brought north closer to our own marina. Jay and his co-workers were extremely kind and helpful to our emergency situation. I will consider them when looking at boats in the future.

The service department has been excellent to work with, I bought a new boat that I keep in Baltimore and needed a local marine service company for Mercruiser warranty work as well as general maintenance and it has been a pleasure to work with Jay in the service department to coordinate and get the work done. I met two of the technicians as they worked on my boat, both were very professional and knowledgeable and provided me with good advice. The prices are reasonable and it has been a very simple and pleasant experience.

MarineMax is an excellent place to buy a boat. They really do take care of you when you purchase your boat. There a full tank of gas in it, the boat is detailed and very clean, the boat has a nice gift bag in it, and finally the brokers are all very nice and will help you to get the boat of your dreams. Continuing with the brokers, they make up for there mistakes by gicing you extra to make you feel better. They make very few mistakes. In my opinion MarineMax has their act together and know what they are doing. You will not be unhappy at MarineMax.

2013 Meridian 341 ready for IMMEDIATE delivery! ready to cruise with no work needed. This headline caught my eye as this is exactly what I was looking for. So after talking to the broker and a conference call with the owner everything sounded good. I sent my deposit the next day. The broker recommended a local surveyor who was awesome. Living in Rhode Island we setup a day for me to fly down for the survey. Then were told it needed fuel modules when they took it out so it was NOT READY and that would delay about a week. So after a little more then a week I fly out early in the morning to meet the surveyor at the dock at 10am. We get the keys from the marina and get on the boat to find that everything is dead. I texted the broker who was on vacation and was told they had been chasing a electrical problem and it needed a main breaker that he thought was done. Again NOT READY It should have been checked before the ad was put up and before I traveled there. They have been chasing this so who knows if this is actually the thing that is going to fix it. The surveyor was resourceful and started the generator to charge the batterys. The hired captain arrived and was also great. Off we go to the boat yard to pull it out of the water to check the bottom, hull and running gear. Everything was fine so back in the water for sea trials. Getting up to speed water was spraying from a cracked manifold that you would have thought would be found when they took it out and found the fuel modules were bad. Again NOT READY Then we find a hand size hole in the gunnel that was not disclosed. Told the broker about these findings and was told that it usually falls on the buyer to make found repairs. Are you kidding me? I did expect the surveyor to find some minor things but this is beyond minor. Spending 219K agreed upon price and how it was advertised I would expect a boat that was 100% ready for a 350 mile trip. The last thing I heard from the broker was that the repairs were now done more then 3 weeks from when we started talking. They should have been done before it was listed. There were alot of excuses as to what happened and not sure where all the blame lays but people did not do there job as this was falsely advertised and cost me about $2000.00 for surveyor, boat haul out, flights and car rentals to find this out. They did refund my deposit within a few days when I told them was not interested as what might be next. I never did hear from anyone from Marine Max office to maybe at least explain or say they were sorry that I had such a bad experience. I guess that just shows the character of the company if you are not buying a million dollar boat. I will never deal with any of the Marine Max because of this one dealer as dont know if this is the norm within the company. I would be very very leery about what is represented with any listing from Marine Max. A costly learning experience. My son also wrote a review and I received this text:I spoke with our marketing director. Can you please ask your son Nick to remove the review? Its unfortunate how things went down like we talked about. I understand your point of view and appreciate you understanding mine. I understand your son is upset, Ill be happy to talk to him, but please ask him to take it down. As a business owner, you know how damaging that can be when a disgruntled review is left that does not explain the whole story.I would never ask him to do this and I think I honestly explained the whole story.

Great, great, great guys to work with. I was in full panic mode with my Sea Ray having 1 engine inoperative and all my local dealers here in Northern VA not willing to look at my boat for 1 month or more..... I put a call into Marine Max Baltimore and talked to Christian Hollinsworth and he became my hero. He had a tech at my boat within 48 hours!!!!!!! Simply amazing. They quickly troubleshot the engine and found source of engine shutdown. They swapped parts from one engine to other just to double-check/verify source of problem which was awesome. Parts on order and I will install it myself but cant say enough great things about Christian in the service dept at MarineMax Baltimore. He saved me a month or more of having to sit at the dock and watch everyone else have fun this summer. Im a lifelong customer for MarineMax after this level of service and quick response which is simply unheard of in the boating industry.Christian, you rock and look forward to using you for all my SeaRays needs A++++++++++
