This is a unique place that is small and chalked full of local items. Lots of local farmers meat that all looked great. 4-5 aisles of odds and ends from local merchants. Small selection of fresh produce and other local beers and wine. Prices were pretty expensive. Service was friendly but lots of staff for such a small place. Theres also a whole backroom that is unused and Im not sure what its for. I might stop here from time to time but its different from other co-ops Ive been to before.
Lovely store with local goods. Excellent. The staff, however, don’t seem to care about providing helping information about products or simply being kind. This should be a healthy food teaching location, IMO. Please care.
Stay away from here. Way to over priced. A gentleman who works here is very rude wants to tell customers about store policies when he dont even follow their own policies. You atleast could be a gentleman and be nice to people. You also need a mask that fits your face and not falls down. I will never go back to this store again. Really wish I coulda left 0 stars.
The best and freshest produce! Amazing selection of local meats- seriously an entire wall of freezers with everything from beef and pork to ostrich and goat! Small bulk section, amazing selection if locally made gifts, body products, home things. Fresh local eggs and milk. Its just a great little store and its so great to be mindful of my shopping habits when I can and keep as much money locally as I can.
Good selection of local products overall - prices are similar to what you might expect at a typical co-op. Some things are priced very reasonably, while others are substantially more expensive than a standard grocery store. Overall I was happy with the cost to quality ratio, and Ill be back! They have an absolutely huge selection of local meat - grass fed beef, heritage pork, turkey, chicken, even specialty stuff like alpaca. All from local producers!I visited in winter so most produce was organics from California - still reasonably good prices and seemed fresh and good quality. Obviously theyd have more local produce in the summer and fall.Definitely worth checking out!
Enter at your own risk. While there in July 2021, both employees were masked but UNVACCINATED. Some folks may be fine with that, but in such a small indoor space Im not.Covid-19 cases are rising again around the country and the impact of the variants is yet unknown. The two employees said they were unvaccinated by choice and intend to stay that way.Other than that unpleasantness, service was good and friendly.
Lovely store, lovely people working here! Amazing selection of produce, eggs and even locally made cosmetics! A great way to support local farms and the community
I was excited to check out this store but unfortunately one of the employees is extremely condescending and rude. Its also insanely expensive! It was my first visit so I excitedly grabbed some of their unique products just to get to the register and be charged $400! Id spend less than that at wholefoods. Its not easy to know the cost of their meats, eggs, and other products due to the way they have price sheets listed instead of individual items priced. I asked to return some things and was talked down to like a child and made to feel like a burden. I switched cashiers and the rude salesman hovered over me to bully me and make me uncomfortable. I just walked out. Its a shame to have this experience. I likely would have made a large purchase and even come back. Now ill never go back. Seems like others have dealt with this guy from reading previous reviews. Stay away.
Absolutely love this place! We volunteer for their events whenever possible - what a wonderful addition to our community and such a resource! They have classes, Food School, host kids events to learn about where their food comes from, and support a wholly farm-to-table experience. Wonderful staff and excellent stock! Highly recommend!
Great place to get local meats, eggs and vegetables. Good prices for fresh food. Most of the food is labeled where it came from with a bio. The staff is friendly and helpful. I prefer shopping here over the commercial grocery stores.
I sell my tomato plants there and they take great care of me there. Why arent you going theyve got so many selections from so many local vendors. We really need to take care of our farmers and other local owned businesses. If youre out spending $100 a month on local food you should be spending it there. No exceptions!!!
I make it a point to stop here before going anywhere else. The produce is much better than the competition. They have a great selection of bulk foods, too. My only regret is that they have not expanded to their full potential but that will come as people support them. Its worth the trip!
Bought some local honey here, so good! Definitely coming back for all the other delicious food
Very cool local farmers market selling products from local farmers which is very cool. We get our herd share milk through them!
Quite expensive but really fantastic. All local stuff, open all year round, its non-profit and they are really really friendly. The neat selection is amazing and for decent prices. The rest of the stuff is on the more expensive side for produce. I recommend it. I also live supporting local too.
Yummy yummy yummy eggs! The cream is also great. A bit small but overall a wonderful experience.
I go to this store to buy eggs and whatever produce they have from Oregon. In terms of doing your weekly shop, its not super possible here. The organic produce from California is the same quality as other grocery stores, just more expensive. I love the eggs, the staff, and the products. I feel happy whenever I leave and that I am supporting something important, and aligned with my values. Also, its super easy to shop zero-waste here! Lots of bulk products.
This is where Farm to table takes root in Bend. The best choice for the freshest locally produced food and gifts. I ADORE the Native American tribal earrings. These one of a kind treasures feature natural materials like pine nuts and dentalium shell. They are made HERE in Bend by a local Tribal artist!
Support local farmers@ Locavore~ the freshest org. Greens, eggs, honey~
Wow, condescending attitudes at this place when asking questions keep me away. Its a shame because I do really like what this place has to offer.
Has some locally produced stuff at reasonable prices we go their for rabbit scraps veggies mostly
They had what I wanted, I got what I needed. Pleasant atmosphere, cute little place. Nice staff.I came mainly for the licorice root and local honey. Yum.
Great find. Trying to eliminate factory farming from our lives. This year-round local farmers market makes it possible.
You pay more for quality products that support the local farmers and small businesses and grow our local economy. These guys are the best!
Local Everything! What I love most about Locavore is that they are so much more than a local food store. They have programs out the wazoo for the community to engage with local farmers/ranchers, gardening education, volunteering, meeting food producers, ...not to mention always eating the yummiest food. While their marketplace is small it has something for everyone - produce, meat, eggs, milk, bulk items, wine, beer, kombucha, gelato, locally made gifts, seeds, plant starts, and MORE! They also have a meeting space if you need a place to host an event/class.Did I mention that the staff is super friendly? They are. :)
Great assortment of local (county, state, and PNW region) products: from produce to meats to raw milk to dry goods. Feel good supporting local and eating healthy.
Great spot to find local products and produce. My favorite thing is that theyve got day old bread from Sparrow. Really nice folks in there.
This is a very nice place to visit especially if youre into the health food they have everything from oranges and apples dehydrated Foods nuts of every kind oils extracts very clean building very nice people I definitely would visit again..
The best place in Bend to find local meats and veggies and various wonderful other goodies including fabulous Jam from sweet Creek Foods organic
A huge array of local items, produce, eggs, cheeses, raw milk, grass fed meats, organic grains, herbs and all the locally made items you could hope for. A must see for yourself kind of place.
Rather twee and pricey. More of a boutique for economically comfortable food geeks.Visited mid-Winter, so I have to speculate that their selection of produce improves during harvest season.Lots of locally-produced value-added products. They DO have an outstanding selection of frozen animal protein. The lemons and limes on offer stretched somewhat their claim of locavorism.---I like their mission. They do seem to be in it as much to promote the need to reduce our carbon footprint when it comes to the food we consume as anything. To eat seasonally, grow and preserve a significant portion of our diet, support local, small-scale agriculture. They have a seed exchange!Ultimately though, unless theyre actively involved in outreach to Bends low-income community, who will not be shopping here, then they do little more than perpetuate the perception of elitism among locavores and other advocates for responsible dietary choices. I hope they understand and care about that.
They occasionally have wild foraged mushrooms here. Theres also a local seed sharing bank.
All local all the time! This is my first stop for groceries. The meat, the fish, everything is made or produced by artisans who take genuine pride in their products.
I love this place,friendly people.
CO Locavore is a great place for high-quality local food. Everything I have bought has been high quality.
Very clean. Nice staff. Great honey!
The best people in town working at the best grocery store in town!
I used to shop here as I believe in buying local and supporting our local farmers, but not now. I was told my my CSA that I could pick up a delivery Monday they had left for me. They are closed as a shop Monday, but they were staffed and open for vendors and I had done this once in the past with no issue. I called from the parking lot as the door was locked and the staff member was so incredibly rude. He asked why I hadnt picked up on the Sunday. I told him that I had been out of town and that the CSA owners had arranged for me to pick up Monday which only involves me grabbing my labeled bag out of the freezer... no staff would have needed to be involved. He told me I would have to come back another day. Maybe I am missing the whole point of the Locavore, but I thought it was a central hub to do trade with local vendors and pick up vendor run CSA orders. I would have understood if the shop had been empty and actually closed, but what happened today was unnecessary. I informed my CSA owner.
Such a cool place. Bulk foods and local options.
Excellent to see this kind of idea carried out so well. Weve been to a few similar establishments around the country and theyre typically kitschy and impossible to actually shop at, but Central Oregon Locavore is the real deal.Lets start with meat: there is a lot of it – a ton, actually. Upon entering, the lefthand wall is packed with no less than 7 freezers full of pastured pork, beef, lamp, chicken, and all kinds of offal. The sources and quality differences are all clearly marked, and theres no lack of variety.Theyve got high-quality local eggs from chickens, ducks, and sometimes turkeys, as well as cheeses, body care products, kombucha on tap and bottled, and a fabulously rich and diverse produce section. The pricing for the quality is very fair across the board.Staff is extremely helpful and kind, even if they dont know everything about every item in the store they help as best they can, and can give great recommendations for other local places of interest.
A little pricy, but THE destination for local, ethically produced foods. They source meat, eggs, and other products locally and sell them to you in their convenient location in Bend. The staff is always friendly, and their membership options seem like a solid way to get a discount.
Always has what we need. Staff is great . Great supply of local items
They were very helpful in locating what I wanted.
Amazing! Always have the best seeds!
Because local food. Nice people
Great local option! Friendly and knowledgeable staff with great recourses!
