The people at the place are really courteous and the service is great. The food is really good as well, along with a great selection of beverages. Would highly recommend the burgers.
This place is pretty cool for its size. Its small but they have an actual bar, and they do pizza and Indian food. Its a weird combo but Im down, especially with their prices being so cheap. They had one outdoor table there and it seems to be the preferred spot. The pizza did have a bit of a curry taste to it, which I liked but other people might find off-putting.Plus, they have good prices for beer on tap (like $5~).Its also a bottle shop and you can also buy singles or six-packs to go.Finally, they sell smokes along with a few other corner store items. This place is a definitely a nice place to stop in for a bite and brew. Give place a shot, staff is super nice and they deserve the business!
I can’t believe I passed by this place for 6 months. The signage isn’t great, but they put a sandwich board outside so I finally saw it. I had a good/inexpensive lamb curry. The draft beer selection is good. They also have pizza and function like a corner store with beer, wine and soft drinks and snacks to bring home. This is definitely going to become a regular spot for me.
Randomly stopped in here around lunchtime one day. I had the Famous Chicken Tikka Pizza because, well, its famous. I honestly was expecting it to taste rather poorly. BUT IT WAS SO GOOD. Its a bit of a walk for me to go there frequently, but I will be back. Based on the pizza, I would absolutely eat their other foods. Staff was friendly and service was prompt.
Fantastic Naan wraps for a reasonable price.
Quick, tasty Indian dishes. Havent tried the non Indian dishes.
Decided to try their tikka masala wrap, and OMG, it was the BOMB!!! Perfect blend of chunky chicken, yummy tikka masala sauce and crunchy, rice, & fresh coleslaw-like veggies. Really appreciate the fresh veggie w tikka cream sauce combo. I will be back for that tasty treat!
The sandwich board featuring delicious looking Indian food caught our eye, and we decided to try the turmeric popcorn chicken. Without the sandwich board, we would have probably walked by without noticing the shop. It looks like a convenience store up front, bar in the back, pizza shack on the right, and cafe counter on the left. Popcorn chicken (white meat) was served on a bed of refreshing salad and came with a side of mild curry dip. Will be back for more!During the pandemic, you need to wait outside while hot food is being prepared so odds of being solicited by panhandlers is high.Pros: Tasty twist on fried chicken, friendly staff, good priceCons: Panhandlers prevalent along the block
We did takeout from this place last week and the food was very good but I took dinged them a star because I felt the place was too expensive for what we ordered, especially for takeout. Nevertheless, the service was good and the curries we ordered we tasty and satisfying.
Tikka sauce was good. Salad, ok. Chicken was dry and oily. Spinach was from a can, extremely sour, pretty bad, I had to throw it out.
Good selection of Indian food and pizzas as well. If you need a quick bite and you feel hungry, then this is a good option.
What a unique gem. I want to give it five stars but Id like to go 3 or 4 more times before I give it a solid 5. Ordering food was slightly confusing but once I got it, I was absolutely thrilled with the flavor. I got a naan wrap. I am slightly biased because I love naan wraps to begin with. That being said they seemed to do it well. Their beer selection seems more than Ideal, I believe they sold other liquor store type items like cigarettes and candy, etc. If I lived in Berkeley I would definitely be back to hang out. Huge ups to the barbarian mural too, it seemed slightly out of place but in a very endearing way. Very eclectic non standard business model. Worth several visits.
I highly recommend the garlic naan and sauce, and the pizza is good as well. There’s also fried chicken which is supposed to be pretty good, and also there is literally a corner store at the front. Barbarian pretty much has it all and it’s all pretty good
Always a great time. Food is served fast and its always on point. Chicken sandwich with the slaw is juicy and crunchy. The pizza thin, cheesey and good size for quick meal. My go-to is the chicken curry bowl. Filling and delicious. Sometimes other patrons can get rowdy but it always settles and management is quick to make you feel at home. My boyf and I frequent time and time again...
This place has a great vibe and interesting food to choose from... Not to mention a decent beer selection. They serve New York style pizzas, some of which have Indian-inspired toppings. They also sell sandwiches, samosas, and some other small sides. Everything appeared to be reasonable priced.
A friendly place serving Indian specialties and New York style pizza. The turmeric buttermilk popcorn chicken with tikka masala dipping sauce is my favorite. Just delicious.
Nice place to grab a slice of new york style pizza or a whole pie. There a good selection of traditional pizzas and some with Indian style flavors. They have a full bar with lots of beer on tap and an even larger section of bottled and craft beer and wines. This place is a good alternative to Arinell Pizza across the street. Barbarian is cleaner, has a friendlier staff, has more seating and larger drink / alcohol selection.
Barbarian Pizza Bar has a lot of great comfort food, including pizza (by the pie/slice) in a variety of flavors, rice/naan/curries, samosas, and more. Their bar is quite nice too, with a wide assortment of beer on tap and wine. Its a great place to dine alone or even bring large parties as theres plenty of room for everyone. Overall, a great place with lots of healthy options for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike!
I learned about this place on Monday and as of Saturday I have eaten here four times. The pizza is a great deal at $2 a slice and the fried chicken sandwiches are insanely good. The restaurant just opened so its needs some love.
Great new restaurant! It has delicious, cheap food, and a fun and unique interior. I would definitely come back.
Had a good samosa here. lots of beer selection
Amazing food, open late! Good beer selection as well
A family run eclectic mix of yummy indian foods and delicious pizza
I had the chicken Tikka wrap here and it was absolutely disgusting. I am from India and have had chicken Tikka wraps both in India and abroad, but never have I ever seen someone put tonnes of plain white rice and cabbage in it. The chicken itself was not Tikka but overcooked pieces of chicken in Orange cream. I was famished but I couldnt get myself to finish the wrap.
Great Samosas especially if you tired of ones with all overfried crust and little filling. At $2.25 each and large - they are one of the best deals in the Bay Area (half the price of Curry up). The pizza is quite good and doesnt have the bay area problem of having a too-crusty crust. One of the few NY style pizza slices in the area. The indian food I tried (Veg Curry) was excellent and great portion size. Go before they realize their prices are too cheap!
Fast and delicious food, not too expensive, good selection of beverages.
The pizza is good. The space is okay. Its a nice neighborhood place to pop in, grab a slice, and pop out
Occasionally I have to do this. They let me in as they were closing. I got two samosas. I went home full. The end.
Good food, reasonable price and great beer selection
Curry chicken great. Hot and plentiful.
Have okay curry! Great place to ha e a beer and a slice.
Try their sandwiches, theyre delicious.
I dont usually write reviews but when i do...Horrible food, the curry has no active ingredients (literally), just a blob of butter over-saturation. The Naan bread is a pre-made defrost, and not freshly made on the spot. They cant even get the Samosa right, no resemblance to real samosa at all. I threw away the food. Avoid at all cost.
The curries and samosas look really tasty but they are horrible. Stay away from the curries. The pizzas are good. Customer service is aggressive.
Unique and cool. Really good, really cheap Indian pizza
Great place. The CTM fried chicken sandwich is delicious and you can buy beers from a great selection in the fridge in back.
They have the BEST samosas, lovely tikka masala pizza, and fresh fried up chicken sandwiches, all at prices my wallet really appreciates! Im going back for lunch often, to check out their ever growing menu (and also appreciate that you can buy six packs in the back!)
Was pizza hopping around east bay and I came across this little joint in Berkeley, turns out this pizza was gold! Good environment! Great Pizza! Wish they had some modelo on tap but thats ok. Definitely coming back for more great pizza on game night!
This place is a great Indian/pizza place with a surprisingly good beer selection
Casual vibe, the best (value+flavor) Indian food, and great beer selection. Also open late!
YOU WILL REGRET IF U GO HERE😠WASTE MONEY 😠 WASTE OF TIME 😠 DONT LIKE THEIR FOOD ...I VOMMITED WHEN I ATE THE CURRY ...I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE HERE😠👎AND THE OLD LADY IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL THEY WILL TREAT YOU SO BAD..THE WORST EVER EXPERIENCED THAT I HAVE!!! I WILL NEVER RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE!!POOR MANAGEMENT!!!👎😠😠😠😡
Good pizza and fried chicken sandwiches with beers on tap and huge selection of bottles and cans
Cozy, Great Pizza, Unique drink variety. Would recommend for small groups.
Chicken Tikka Pizza was really good.
The masala spice was really good but the chicken seemed pre-cooked, then re-cooked again (microwaved quickly). Dry and rubbery.
Ordered through uber eats. The pizza was horrible. It seemed like thr pizza was really old. Definitely dont recommend.
Really tasty Indian food. Naan was good.
Great ambience with music and food
Sweet concept pizza place. With decent pizza!
I got the veggie naan wrap which had just salad and some kind of curry sauce that completely leaked out before I could even take three bites. Do not recommend for vegetarians.
Reasonably priced pizza served hot and fast
Lots of reviews are knocking the pizza, and I see the reason, it hasnt looked particularly amazing any time Ive been here. But youre cheating yourself if you skip over this place. Ditch the pizza and grab the turmeric popcorn chicken or the turmeric chicken sandwich. Drench either one or them in the sauce youre given, and go to town.
One type of veggie pizza each day but high quality and reasonably priced. Plus sauces to go with it
Thanks but no thanks. Waste my lunch time elsewhere.
Pizza by the slice, Indian dishes and samosas. Good beer selection
Pizza was okay. The service was very good and they had a well stocked bottle shop.
Good pizza sweet staff
1 of a kind fried chicken sandwich
Got the Saag Paneer with rice. Small portion for ~$10. Wasn’t particularly flavorful
Best fluffy Naans
Chill spot good food
Beware that the prices in their system may not match their menu. I bought a beer that was a dollar more in their system than what was on their menu.
Good selection of craft beer
Slow service, food is okay
Inauthentic Indian food
Service wasnt very friendly.
Great pizza.
Only if youre extremely hungry. Sorry.
Good Pizza !
Delicious pizza
Ok
Amazing
Barabarians Unite! (Also pizza + beer)Im Calabrese
Awesome chicken Tika masala!
