This place is pretty awesome. Its that quintessential neighborhood hardware store with a little bit of everything nestled inside a seemingly endless maze of narrow aisles. I was sent by my sister-in-law to find a collection of random adhesives, ties, strings, and hangers. Naturally the problem was less whether they had what I needed and more figuring out which options worked best. The associates were helpful and very knowledgeable. They also have a lot of nifty random stuff; impulse buyers beware.

For years I have found it a pleasure to visit this hardware store. Staff is very helpful and prices are reasonable.

This is a hardware store that has everything, from obscure screws and odd fasteners to garden supplies and kitchen and bath items. But what makes it a standout store is the great service and advice offered by knowledgeable and experienced staff.

Always helpful. The staff is knowledgeable about their products, and when I have explained what it is I am trying to do, they helped me find the solution or product. I have been going to them for the past 25 years.

In addition to incredible assortments from wall to wall, Strosniders- Bethesda boasts perhaps the most knowledgeable hardware pros in the nation. This store always has something different and awesome, so bring the family too.

I used to get here a lot with my Father picking up that extra thing we needed to finish the job. I just enjoy walking through to see all the stuff they have. The are packed with just about everything and group of people that still knowing how to fix things enough to help you. The parking lot can be packed sometimes but if you go up the far right (facing the store) area of the lot you can usually find a spot.

Truevalue/strosniders typically has everything you need in a more compact store and staffed by more knowledgeable people (older associates) than the big box stores like HD/Lowes. The younger workers have more drive and energy as well.

Strosniders is THE be-all end-all of hardware stores. They have an amazing array of products, well-organized, & piled high in a large store near the heart of Bethesda.What makes them stand apart from all other retailers is the sheer number of knowlegable staffers available to help you.I have shopped here for decades, and have always found what I needed. Ive even had my lawn mower blade resharpened.Community hardware stores went though a tough consolidation some years back, and the remaining now all identify with some major buying group like True Value or ACE.Other than Bethesda & Potomac, I believe they have another store in Silver Spring.

Overpriced... but since there is no local home depot or lowes, this is what we are stuck with. Friendly but kinda stuffy inside and cramped to move around. if the prices were more reasonable I would frequent here more often.

It is great to still have that neighborhood hardware store feeling at Strosneiders, the staff not only is knowledgeable about every single product they sell, but also extremely professional and friendly.

Wish I could give them 10 stars! Truly a special place - they do service better than anyone. And you can find absolutely anything here. Plus get knives sharpened, keys made, propane tanks filled, advice for home projects. The best!

I hate hardware stores. But this one is great. There is always someone there to help guide me so that I can get in and out quickly. Great selection of power tools. Right now they have wood for my fire pit. And they have the nicest selection of hardware for my older home.

Hardware stores are just the best. I’ve been coming here for 25 years for a variety of projects. The team is always stoked to help me with whatever it is and seems invested in my (novice) success. Quality products, great selection, and more importantly, quality people.

I will always choose Strosniders over the larger chain hardware stores. They have incredibly helpful and engaging employees that always seem to know what Im looking for.

This hardware store is a blast from the past. Tools, paint, plumbing, electrical, household items, grills, sundries, seasonal items and even gifts and toys are all here. The hardware section is second to none in the TriState area with items for new or old homes. Almost any nut, bolt, screw in multiple finishes are available here. Most of items are of good to better quality and I have rarely seen anything that would be considered to be pure junk. Prices are higher than going to a big box or dedicated retail store, but convenience and location is what is important here. The staff is very knowledgeable and courteous and the store has been immaculate inside and out every time Ive visited. Parking out front can be sparse at times, but the shopping center has a large lot at the top of the hill and I have never had issues with parking even during the weekend or holiday season. If you live or work near downtown Bethesda then this store is pretty much the go to place for a lot of things and even if youre passing by its worth a visit. I believe most people will be surprised at the things this place carries.

An absolutely horrible excuse for a retail store. First lie: The first time I went in there, the checkout clerk talked me into giving a lot of personal information to sign up for their rewards program, claiming Id get a $10 coupon for my next purchase. OK. When the coupon arrived (two months later) they were actually two coupons for $5 with very strict four-week time windows and minimum purchases required. Second lie: When I tried to use the first coupon, the clerk, who looked and acted like a 14-year-old, refused to take it, and just kept saying It wont take it when I asked him to explain why. I wrote to the manager about this problem and received no response. Even though I live three blocks from the place, I will never set foot in there again.

Retail is not dead. It works when there are many associates to help. They might charge more, I dont know, but if they do, I know Im paying for the instruction and simply a guide to help me find that one thing in a hailstorm of tiny hardware items. If there is a place one needs help finding something, it would be a hardware store, and theres always someone nearby to help. Retail is flourishing when done right.

I left my apartment to go get a mask in preparation for the covet-19. I went to the store directly behind my house. I walked inside the store. I was greed with by the cashier by her says “Where is your mask at”, joking around and smiling. I responded with “ that is what I’m in here for”. I walked directly to the sales associate and asked if they were going to get more masks in. She responded by saying she did not know. As the manager walked by me, I asked him when are they getting more masks in? He stated that he did not know. I then turned around to walk out of the store. While leaving, another manager aggressively yelled at me that he was calling the police. I reintegrated that I was leaving the store. The manager got progressively angrier and called the police. Now, as a professional black man, if someone calls the police on you it is better to stay on the scene to explain your side. Why, because the manager could have made up any story to jeopardize my character. The police arrive in less than five minutes. Not only that, there were five police car in total. The police officer looked irritated that they were called for something minuscule. The officer told me what the rules and regulation for wearing a mask and stated that police involvement was not necessary.this was extremely rude and could of took a left turn as a black man

Absolutely the best hardware store around. The staff is honest and genuinely helpful. Skip the big box. Support your local merchants.

Very helpful, and you can find just about anything you need

I visited this location a few weeks ago and almost called the police to report them for blatant disregard of COVID safety guidelines. Crowded store with tons of employees who walked up to two feet from customers. Employees working in close proximity to one another as well as customers. Aisles packed with people, impossible to keep a safe distance and find what you needed.

A mixed bag but dont want to give less than five stars. You can always get the little screws you need, or great help with paint, plumbing etc. But most of the other stuff is expensive and some is simply overpriced. Occasionally Ill pay those prices because its a great institution.

Staff is polite and knowledgeable. Ive only bought small items here so cant comment on prices of larger items, but small items are priced fine. The space is a bit cramped but they do have a large inventory so that is always a plus.

Strosniders is fantastic, period. The selection of items and helpfulness of the staff make most trips very fast and fruitful. Ive bought a large item (air conditioner) and small items there before. The staff can quickly run through your problem and recommend the right tool at the right price as a solution. They also deliver, which came in handy when I bought the air conditioner.

Very helpful. I needed a new tip for cane. Customer service Desk told me which aisle to find it. One if staff asked if I needed help, measured tip found correct one and even put it on for me!

This store has an extensive range of merchandise. Also, the staff is both knowledgeable and helpful.

Just went after calling to make sure precautions were being taken and my husband dealt with a man who did not wear a mask or observe social distance. Not impressed.

We make a Strosniders run most weekends. It has most everything we need from a hardware store. The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. The prices can be high, but we strategically use the dollars off and discount coupons we seem to receive every other week, which takes out some of the sting.

This place is great. Four guys were helping me find what I needed. They have lots and lots of stuff in there. The people who work there know stuff and want to help you.

It is no surprise that this is one of the best retailers in the area, but that they consistently provide the most useful service and take their time to do it. I want to compliment James here since he was the one who helped me solve a problem of not having the right piece of hardware but James manufactured the solution which worked fine once I put it in place. This is why I do NOT shop at large stores with no sales assistance and if they do have associates they do not know their products. Strosniders is the best!

This is the greatest hardware store. There are always knowledgeable and super helpful staff around, who can answer questions and suggest solutions when you’ve got a problem that’s got you stumped.

Very knowledgeable and helpful people working the floor. You do not need to search for assistance. They have lots of stuff that you can purchase one at a time. For example, O-rings in all sizes,fasteners, etc. A good place to shop for hardware.

Friendly help is always to be found. Good stock of hardware supplies and much more. Prices are a bit high, but you do get great knowledgeable service.

This is a very special hardware store. If you need to talk to an expert about fixing some part in your house, this is the place. If you want a special furniture paint that will turn a cabinet into an heirloom piece, this is the place. You need a unusual key made, this is the place. The second part is you do pay for the service, but its worth it. A real gem of a old fashioned hardware store for the residents of Bethesda.

I always find great service at the Bethesda Strosniders. Theres always an employee nearby asking if I need help finding something, or answering any questions that I might have. The whole shopping center area gets really busy on weekends, so I usually try to go during off-peak hours.

Great hardware store with knowledgeable practical advice. I have been shopping there for more than 30 years. Though not cheap they have amazing variety for such a relatively small store. And you can get your bbq gas tank refills there.

I give them a one star. Terrible customer service! I asked for a price quote for my car keys and they made me wait 45 minutes which is unbelievable. 3 Guys came on the phone asking why am I calling and I had to explain to them over and over again. Also the employees were extremely rude on the phone. Terrible customer Service.

The staff here will go out of their way to help you will just about anything. I was trying to configure a mounting system for fog lights on my truck. When I couldnt find the tool I needed in the store, an employee actually let the manager know he was heading outside and, with his personal tools from his car, helped me adjust the part. Prices are fair, selection is great/unique, and you support the small businesses that employ proportionally more people. *NOTE* if you are reclusive and like to be left alone while you shop, this is NOT the place for you! Customer service and offering of assistance is pervasive throughout the store. But most people like myself are appreciative of the effort they put forth.

I loved this place, it has always been my go to for any household improvements, the staff is so friendly and helpful. I recently moved to Germantown and bought 5 gallons of paint here for $75/gallon. I got to my condo in Germantown and 3/5 paints were the wrong finish, ugh! I called and they apologized, admitting it was their fault. I drove back to Bethesda, now Im 1.5 hours behind on painting. I had to buy more paint and decided to check other stores that are closer. I found the same paint for $35/gallon! Thats a $40 markup, ridiculous! As great as the customer service is here, it cost me $200 extra and a trip back to Bethesda from Germantown... not worth it.
