My family and I had the pleasure of stopping by FOAMO to sample the crepes, Thai rolled ice cream and coffee. While they were just wrapping up some last minute construction in back, the front of the house was clean, lively and fun with an artsy, industrial decor. The service was really fast and we went all in. Everything was made to order right in front of you!We had the Nutella and strawberry crepes and my daughter also had the pb&j crepe and she immediately said it was th perfect comfort food salty sweet, carby and delicious. I had decaf lungo coffee, it was on target, very smooth and strong. Next we had the Thai rolled ice cream, plain strawberry, cookies and creme and peanut butter chocolate coco puffs. It was off the hook! It is worth going just to see them make it !I spoke w/ the owner and he said they worked through dozens of recipes over the past year to find the perfect combination of sweet, texture and flavor combinations. It was fantastic and worth going to see them make it right in front of you on these cool flat metal disks, (think Kabuki grill, cook on the table, but with ice cream). Not only is it a cool show, the ice cream was really fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The ice cream was served standing up in paper bowls and the crepes were served on these really cool slab plates. All in all it was a huge hit with the family, FOAMO, we will be back for sure!
The best and the only place that gives me chill and I can eat an incredible Crepe with a good coffee. Also you can enjoy the decor of the coffee shop, and having fun with some fancy low music. All love man, Peace !!.
Really happy with the atmosphere and presentation of food. Ill have to get some ice cream next time to complement the crepe. I dont drink coffee, but I do here 😉. And their loyalty program is unique and by far my favorite out there
Tasty crepes and Nespresso coffee/espresso drinks. We had peach cobbler, chocolate banana and berry berry crepes, all delicious. I only gave 4 stars because we came in for the rolled Thai ice cream but they didn’t have a skilled person to make it and they were out of many ingredients from the menu. I’d still go back def.
One of the most unique and amazing places I have been to in recent memory.Every detail is thought about carefully and any customer can tell that the owners try their best to stand out from regular cafes/ice cream shops. From the crepes that they serve on a beautiful wooden plank plate(never seen this before) to their bathrooms which impress immediately when you first walk in with awesome lighting fixtures. It is extremely hard to make a cafe and even harder to make a great cafe but Foamo nailed it and keeps changing for the better.I would recommend the Nutella crepe and any rolled ice cream as they are all taste AND looks amazing. 🍨
It was my first time with my sister and friend. The showroom was beautiful. The bar is in the front to view. The service from the staff was phenomenal, even bringing the ice cream to our table. Clean and comfortable environment. Beautiful art work behind the counter. I will not be a stranger!
Awesome coffee shop. Its been pretty popular every time Ive been. The coffee is much better than other places around and the prices are better too. The ice cream is fun to watch being made and better than the store bought stuff. If you have a sweet tooth I highly recommend the chocolate Oreo crepe. With a thick chocolate drizzle sprinkled with Oreo crumbs on the inside its to die for.
I was really very impressed with this place. The care put into every aspect of your order is so amazing and you get to watch them make whatever you get. The line is very long but for good reason…it’s great! It’s a very trendy little place and the staff is super friendly. They offer a selection of crepes, rolled ice cream, and teas.
This cafe focuses on perfection over everything else. Their food and most notably their service is nothing short from excellent. Attention to detail in both the food and the customer is proof for why this cafe is as successful as it should be.
Update: decided to give this place a second chance after the owner responded promptly to my review, was very impressed with the attentiveness that went into the ice cream and Ill likely come back again!Came at 9:42 and was turned away despite the fact that there were two other customers with nearly full ice creams. I will not be coming back to an establishment that does not honor their hours.
If you’re a coffee drinker, this isn’t the place for you. If you like rolled ice cream then you may find something suitable to your liking. They use Nespresso pods as their coffee. And while some may think it’s gourmet it’s really not unless you think that old, stale, coffee in aluminum pods is fresh and gourmet. The ice cream, however was tasty. The place was rather dirty and a bit run down.
This place is great! The rolled icecream is delicious! I cant wait to go back and try the crepes and coffee. The atmosphere and decor is really nice too!
Coffee was good but very standard, nothing special. They need plates. No more crepes on news paper. Really appreciated the paper straw
Decent place, good crepes and ice cream. The coffee and tea taste fine but are just Nespresso. Overall very pricey, definitely paying for the hipster ambience more than anything.
Super awesome atmosphere and fast service! The apple butter graham cracker crepe is so unique and delicious. Super cool place!
Ive driven by this place a few times and finally stopped in this weekend. Im glad I did! They were short staffed (poor guy was there by himself) so they were only offering crepes and coffee beverages but made up for it by offering a free scoop of ice cream with the crepe. I got a caramel latte and the Oreo crepe. Everything was delicious! Ill be back.
Nutella raspberry crepe, white shark chai tea, & honey latte. Everything was excellent.
This is the hangout spot for me and my friends and we love it so much. The vibes are 10/10 and the ice cream is delicious.
Great little spot for an after dinner treat! Got a banana and Nutella crepe with a vanilla latte. Beautiful presentation, thoughtful service and relaxed atmosphere. Would be helpful to have a menu posted more visibly but I hope this place does well in Blacksburg! They fit into this town fabulously!
This place is AMAZING! I got the best peanut butter and banana crepe, Ive ever had! I will definitely be frequenting often!
Great atmosphere, extremely friendly service and fantastic food. The coffee is some of the best Ive ever had and the crepes are way better than anything you can get at casual restaurants. Tiger spice Chai is something I highly recommend as well as the honey latte
Despite having to wait in line, it was worth it. I also love the fact that it is own and operated by full time VT students. They paid attention to the little details and have really put some thought into not only the taste, but the presentation! Go support them!
It’s became my favorite coffee shop in Blacksburg. The place definitely deserve the wait. The honey Latte was amazing. The staff is extremely friendly. Will come again soon.
FOAMO is one the best places in Blacksburg hands down. It’s a nice quiet place to study, or simply hangout with friends. The crepes, and rolled ice cream are made in house from Ingredients from made and found in Blacksburg. One of the few businesses in Blacksburg that is family started and owned, and not some ‘chain’ restaurant like Blacksburg unfortunately is starting to become.
As a coffee shop, lazy. Puck nespresso? Really? Age packaged candy bar? Thats your idea of a coffee shop?Make real coffee. Thats table stakes. Maybe a dessert crepe wouldnt suck (although since Im gluten intolerant maybe not such a great idea), but then what do people do? Walk RIGHT NEXT DOOR and get a decent coffee?Yay, you made a cool logo. Thats cute kid. Maybe you can sell it, cause you cant actually operate a business.
Ambience is lovable. Quality of food is good!
Tried the Twix rolled ice cream and it was amazing! The employees were also very friendly. Definitely must visit if you’re ever in Blacksburg.
Rating them on their coffee with a slight uptick for their ice cream. This review is late, but I never reviewed them and was reminded to when we reviewed my wife’s review for this place and the response which contained some malarkey about coffee that I feel the need to correct. Hopefully Foamo will read this, and I hope it gets you thinking and helps you re-approach your strategy for coffee.I was dreadfully disappointed to find that instead of freshly ground coffee, you guys were merely pulling shots from an oversized Nespresso pod brewer. The coffee disappointed. We ordered an Americano, and it was not coffee shop quality, which is no surprise considering the method as to which it was brewed. This is one of the worst coffee shops as far as coffee flavor I’ve ever been to, and I know coffee. I fresh roast my own green beans in my own roaster at home and have 7+ different methods of brewing coffee at my home, so I have plenty of experience with quality, fresh, brewed-with-love coffee and am not a novice at all.Below are my responses to your responses to my wife’s review. Consider the content and see if it is t worth changing to improve your coffee.1. “we do so [use nespresso pods] because it is far fresher than any coffee you can get anywhere else”This is statement is difficult to support with simple experience and logic and I disagree with. I have no idea as to the process that nespresso uses to fill their pods, but I can’t see how the processes of grinding coffee, putting it in a pod, and waiting 2 weeks to 3 months, and then brewing it could ever be fresher than grinding it and brewing it. You’re adding steps between grinding and brewing.A coffee shop grinds and brews right away. That’s fresh. What part of additional time and steps makes nespresso pods fresher?Plus, there’s a whole additional factor to freshness - how long did the beans sit exposed before being ground? If nespresso roasts and then grinds right away, fabulous (though immediately sealing would be bad because you need to let the coffee degas.) but does Nespresso do this? Or do they roast and then grind a week later? I wonder..... anyways, overall, the statement that nespresso is fresher than fresh ground and brewed coffee just doesn’t make sense as a reason for using nespresso. Grinding and packaging is no fresher or less fresh than grinding and brewing. This is just a key point to realize for your coffee shop. I’ll tell you one thing... it is more expensive and makes nespresso a ton of $$$2. “... hermetic seal allows the least possible exposure to air, gasses, and the elements that would otherwise affect the coffee’s richness and lead to its deterioration in flavor and aroma (which is what happens at other coffee shops that grind their own coffee and pull their shots immediately.)”To correct this, a good coffee shop doesn’t see deterioration in flavor. A good coffee shop grinds and pulls fresh beans right away because they know grinds are sensitive to flavor loss.3. “please don’t label our coffee as ‘stale’ and ‘old’ because you decided to add 5 ounces of water to our 6 ounce serving of fresh on the spot roast yielding 11 ounces of disappointment. That’s what we call an Americano... ... and is associated with “stale flavor.”Wowza! Big problem here. If you pulled 6 ounces of fluids through a single or even two nespresso pods, you are going to have an overextracted shot. I recommend reading up on this online. There’s a lot of good resources that will help you to understand this. I recommend switching to pulling 1 ounce of fluid per pod.But old... grinds over 1 minute of age are old. 1 month is old :) so they may be old.4. An Americano is not 6 oz coffee 5 oz water. It’s 1-2 oz of espresso, and roughly 3-10 oz of water. And adding water should never be associated with stale flavor unless you’re adding stale flavored water. Adding water doesn’t do that at all... Smooth espresso makes a smooth americano. Stale espresso makes a stale Americano. It’s a common and widely accepted coffee shop beverage.
Love the “Lo-Fi” vibe. A perfect place for a delicious palate hugging Crepe and/or a delightful tasting cup of coffee. Has free wi-fi and adequate seating. Outlets mostly along the walls for couple of tables. Perfect place for a hangout, play some board games or to do some work. Did I mention the Oreo Crepe was delicous?
Was so excited to try the Ferraro Rocher rolled ice cream. I get to Foamo and theres a pretty big line but Ive never had it yet so I decided to wait it out. Loved the artwork and the plants. Right when I got up to the register I ordered my ice cream but was then told that it will take about 35 minutes but that I can order a crepe instead... I waited 25 minutes in line, so excited to try this cool new ice cream, to then be told that Ill have to wait over half an hour for my ice cream. Why couldnt they have warned the people in line that it would take awhile? Not cool guys. I will come back to try again but as a new business, thats not what you do.
If youve got a sweet tooth and are in Blacksburg, you must visit FOAMO! The crepes and ice cream treats are totally unique and delicious! Love coffee? They have all kinds of roasts from around the world. I enjoyed the medium roast from Brazil! Homemade chai tea completely blows away Starbucks version. Great place to chill with friends or study. Highly recommended!!!
Thank you so much for coming to the neighborhood!!! Im so happy about this place, I would be there all day if they were open! The coffee was amazing and the ice cream was like eating a hug if thats possible lol
Good selection of coffee and ice cream. Tables are a bit wobbly and the acoustics are bad, which both lose them a star. Not really a good place to do work, but a great place for coffee and ice cream.
FOAMO is the next Blacksburg staple! Amazing ambiance. Amazing service. Amazing style. Amazing management. Most importantly AMAZING FOOD! I had a customized crepe with Nutella and peanut butter and strawberries and bananas and it was delicious. Paired that with one of the many drinks and it’s heaven. The rolled ice cream to top it off was on point too! I visited 3 times in 3 days!
Few places like this in Blacksburg that have the perfect combination of sweets! One of my favorite places in Blacksburg to hang with friends and enjoy some great crepes and ice cream.
Chill atmosphere, really helpful when explaining options, so many things to try so i will be coming back to do so!!
Rolled ice cream was delicious and a neat experience. You can see it made right in front of you.
Slooooooooooooooow internet if you are on it at any length, they must have a guest network that throttles you down if you stay there too long. will try again and will revise if better :-)
Hip coffee, rolled ice cream, and crepe restaurant. They can be overwhelmed, and some of the menu items and specials miss the mark, but an interesting addition to the area.
Great service, wonderful coffee, and fabulous ice cream. Cant wait to come back to try a chai!
INCREDIBLE crepes!! super cute cafe and friendly service
Best coffee and crepe place in town!!
Costly! But decent icecream. Does leave a film in your mouth Im guessing thats from the cream used to make it.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the crepes were delicious
THEY NO LONGER DO ROLLED ICE CREAM. IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT, IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON THEIR MENU.
Why you guys not open at 6pm on Thursday 3/5??? It says you should be open
Great service, very accommodating and Aesthetically pleasing space! Definitely recommend if you are in the area!
Good music, good rolled ice cream, and friendly staff! :)
Nice ice cream, not as good as the Salem competition
An overly trendy place that isnt worth the time or money. they get points for the cereal ice creams though, pure nostalgia.
Excellent service, awesome atmosphere.
The crepes are just okay. I cannot speak to the quality of the rolled ice cream or the coffee, as I have not had it. Very expensive.
Amazing desserts, try the creme brulee.
Hands down, the best crepe place in town!
Great crepes and quick service!
Slow, but worth the wait
Great idea and great people
So fun and delicious!
Great stuff
Amazing icecream
Delicious! kind of expensive though
Good, but expensive, with small portions.
Great music!

Overpriced
