My wife by brought home a can of Hunts Manwich sauce from this store while buying some produce. It had three price tags on top of the can, covering the best by date. That seemed odd to me so I peeled them off to reveal that the date passed about 22 months ago. This would be illegal for a use by date but is just deceiving and sketchy the way they did it. He also charged $1.49 for a can I probably could have bought for 99 cents at Walmart, but thats on us. The lack of ethics, on the other hand, thats on Veggie, Fruits, and More.
I bought a can of biscuits and a fried apple pie pastry. When I got home I bit into the apple pie pastry and it was moldy. Then I checked the can of biscuits and they were expired by over a month. I tried to call several times to let them know and potentially get a refund and no one answered. Lady at the checkout wasn’t very friendly either and wasn’t wearing a mask. Be careful shopping here and check your food before purchasing.
For the past five years, I have purchased a lot of fruit and produce from Allen, and I always have great service and fresh food. I buy several flats of blackberries every summer for our jams and cobblers for Christmas. Allen and his wife Susan give back to the community of Boone, and grateful for their years of hard work serving in their community and their love and service for Mission work.
The ladies werent very friendly at all. Seemed to not want to be bothered. I visit local produce places often and will not be returning there. $8 something for a little bit of bacon, sad looking lettuce and tomato. Im good.
I shop here when I can because its local. Their food seems be of good quality, but sometimes its on the brink of going bad. I.e., I bought bread and it started to mold in less than week.
Produce did not have prices on them which obviously worked in the owner’s favor considering what I purchased ended up being mostly inedible under the top layer. I love supporting local small businesses so I was super disappointed when I overpaid for a gallon of fruit that ended up being half rotten.
