This was the first place I requested to be set up with for oil delivery in my new home based on recommendations. I spoke to a very pleasant customer service representative on the phone (although she asked me to please wait a moment while she finished sending an email...). I set everything up with them, was told I was good to go. Three hours later, I was sent an email from their credit department stating I was being denied service based on my credit report. This was puzzling, as A no further reason was given to this decision and B I see no hard or soft inquiry on my report. We JUST secured this mortgage, so everything is pristine on my report (as was verified by checking myself shortly after this notice). I emailed my customer service rep asking what this meant, who sent me a three line response, It means we will not be doing business with you. Please find another provider. Sorry.
We are extremely happy with the service StandardOil provides in our home. They take care of heating and AC. They are always available, 24/7, very reliable and all of the technicians are very knowledgeable and nice.
Our boiler stopped working and I called for the emergency service. The technician Lou D was very very nice. He was able to quickly identify the issue and perform the fix. He was very patient in explaining the issue to me and also did thorough checks and made sure the boiler worked fine before he took off. I am very impressed by the quality of the service he provided and thumbs up for Standard Oil!

Im pretty annoyed with Standard Oil- I had them for Oil services in the past- they were ok, but when my contract expired the price of oil skyrocketed, so i decided to switch to Westmore Fuel, who has been much better- Standard still has my propane, when I had an emergency delivery I was told i could pay by credit card, when i called they told me i couldnt pay by credit card until it went past due- I called on three different occasions and was given conflicting info- I just called again and magically they accepted credit card payment- when i asked why they wouldnt expect credit card before, the person said they dont except credit card payments!!! Although she just processed my credit card for payment, so clearly they have the ability to do it, they just dont want to

Service above and beyond by Shabian! He figured out that the reason our AC had failed was that it had gone into thermal overload in the heatwave and locked itself out. He cooled it with a garden hose and got it going again. Saved us a lot of money on replacement equipment!
We have a very old furnace which we must keep going. Were very appreciative to the repair fellow who came out to fix everything and did a great job. Its no fun being cold after having had a serious medical problem. I have used Standard Oil of Connecticut for so many years, and theyve always been reliable and there when you need them.
We had a furnace/blower issue where the burner light would go out for whatever reason. Our indoor temps were dropping about 1-2 degrees per hour, as the outdoor temps were in the low 20s.The Standard Oil service technician/professional named Patrick came within 30 minutes of our call, immediately diagnosed the issue as stemming from one of two possible issues, and then set upon making the appropriate repairs. Less than 30 minutes later, Patrick had finished and gave an analysis of what happened, walked me through the issues, and his solution. Patrick wore a mask, talked from an appropriate distance, solved the issue and then left promptly after cleaning up.Exceptional service and competence. Thats it.
If you get a service contract, call to schedule your routine service outside of the fall/winter time-frame. Emergency services will limit the availability of routine service appointments. This will also assure that your furnace is ready when you need it. My service technician was top-notch!
On a $20,000 furnace and central AC install a lot of promises that never were delivered. Things we agreed to. Excuses why this or that didnt come with my install or why we cant do that, its still in the mail, we never give out any extras.
I called on Oct 2 for a appointment to schedule a service call for my furnace which I purchased from Standard 2 year ago. Understanding the backlog because of COVBID the rep explained they were booked till February. I explained the situation and why I needed service before then. A short time after I received a call from Darrell who was extremely understanding and accommodating - and we agreed on a date. Thank You Darrell and Standard Oil. you guys are # 1.

**UPDATE** 11-16-2020So I got a phone call from a Gentleman by the name of Darryl. I must say, he was a pleasure to talk to and a real problem solver. We came to an agreement and when it comes to exemplary customer service Darryl displayed just that, exemplary customer service. I’m not the person to demand money or free anything when it comes to business, I just genuinely like when a the client specialist gets it and understands. I call It client specialist because he specialized in his client and I walked away with a different perspective on the “Company”. Darry thoroughly explained all the questions I asked and recommended what I do in the future.
I cannot rave enough!! The staff are so amazing. We had a faulty tank gauge and ran out of propane in December. They. were AWESOME!! They brought a spare tank to get us through until they could arrange a proper delivery!!The staff are so kind and the folks that came to install the spare and then re-install our tanks were kind, courteous, respectful of covid guidelines and asked every time if they could come in even after theyd been here for a while.And I cant tell you what peace of mind it is to have auto-delivery with the remote gauge they installed!! Especially now that all is repaired!!Highly HIGHLY Recommend!!

When I had an issue with my heat this winter I had to have a technician come to my house. The phone representative setting up the appointment was extremely helpful. Not only did she set up a same day appointment, she made and suggested changes to my account to save me money and prevent future problems. The tech arrived just hours later. He was knowledgeable, professional, and got us up and running very quickly.I was impressed by the service but courteous schedulers and professional technicians are expected, however uncommon they may be. They are not the driving force behind this 5-star review.Following the visit, I received an email from an executive at Standard Oil asking if I was satisfied with the service. The email said to reply back directly with any follow ups. Anxious to verify the changes I discussed with the phone rep, and curious as to whether this executive would actually respond, I replied to the email. Later that afternoon, to my shock, the executive responded. Having personally looked into my account the executive assured me that the improvements to my account had been made.Seeing such diligence and professionalism at three different levels of the company is what spurred this review. It is also what will keep me a Standard Oil customer for years to come.
The serviceman who did the furnace check was prompt, professional, informative and thorough. He even made friends with the dog.
Installers did sloppy work with large gaps in ductwork.............oh wait! that was the original installers, years ago, from another company...Billy and Anthony did a fabulous job. They put down tarps on the stairs and hallway and did a neat, installation. The previous installer ran the drain into a vent pipe in the bathroom, resulting in a constant drip, drip, drip noise. Standard ran the drain into the roof gutter and the drip noise is gone. Im going to have them install a new boiler soon.I have been a Standard customer for over 50 years, business and personal. Their prices may be a little high, but when you need service at 3am, you can count on them to show in under 2 hours.
Mostly always excellent service. I called yesterday morning and said that the furnace was banging and making lots of noise. Standard oil was there in 3 hours (no emergency, I had heat), and fixed everything. I have a Service contract I wont live without. I dont shop around for oil. They may be a bit more expensive, but I like their service and the people that come out. I always feel safe with them.
I had a propane tank installed for a new cook stove. Josh and Scott were awesome! Very professional and courteous. More importantly, they would not leave until everything was up and running despite it being freezing outside and they insured we were happy with the installation. After shopping around Im so glad I went with Standard and I would recommend them to everyone.
Very rude and disrespectful customer service ladies as well as the manager. They Should not treat contracted customers or any customers the way they do. When purchasing a furnace or ac unit through them read the fine print. Although their oil service delivery and maintenance service is excellent they just need to hire better secretaries/ customer service representatives.

I used them many times. They could not match another oil price so I cancelled. Last delivery was in June. They show up in December and I stop the driver. He states wow you are the third one today. They did not show up for six months. I call and say that I am happy to pay what I pay now ($2.67 a gallon for the 40 gallons they put in) four phone calls later they are still arguing with me. You know what, you want to lose a future customer over $12. Have at it. They bomb you with calls and try to sell you alarms but they will fight you for $12. Amazing. Horrible Service.
I am completely satisfied by the service work that was done recently for my heating system. Dominic, the service guy, was very courteous and hard working. He made sure that the problem is resolved properly and also made sure it doesnt happen again. My heating system is located at a place where it is hard to reach some of its components like the Motor. Dominic is a very skilled technician and he managed to fix the problem in reasonable amount of time.

Technician came to the house and clearly stated that the hot water tank was leaking and needed to be replaced. The technician called the company and another person came immediately to the house to start the process for replacement and date to be completed. Replacement is now scheduled and we await their arrival. We are most pleased with the service we have received from Standard Oil.
I called Standard oil on a Sunday morning at 8am. We just got back into town the night before, and were too tired to notice it was only 52 degrees in the house. Someone was at our home by 10am Sunday, and they got the heat running within 15 minutes. Quick and friendly service. Thank you Standard Oil!!
On auto propane delivery this is the second time this year I have run out of propane in the past year. The drivers cant seam to understand that there are 2 tanks one of which has nothing to do whit the house. They keep the wrong tank filled. On the good side the service is very good and technicians are professional and courteous.
Think twice before using this company and then use any other company. Their customer service is pathetic. They are extremely difficult to work with. They are completely incompetent. I have never had such a difficult time working with any company. They are rude, they dont return calls. W hen I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor I was not connected. Absolute nightmare. Dont make the same mistake I did.

Joe the service tech was excellent. Came out and immediately after a quick review knew what the problem was. Very complete replacement of parts plus final test. This is what makes Standard Oil a grade above all others is their talented staff and knowledge....plus great customer service.

Signed up for a year contract.At the end of the year, I decided to not renew. I called to cancel, and they said no problem. However they failed to inform me I need to provide written consent to cancel, and they delivered oil AFTER I moved out already.No big deal. Poor customer service.New occupants open new contract, Standard Oil REFUSES delivery based on their TEMPERATURE CHART, even though oil is EMPTY. I call Standard Oil on their behalf, and ask for a delivery and am hung up on.I notified CONSUMER PROTECTION.Prices are extremely high in comparison to local oil companies.BUYER BEWARE
Had concerns of an oil leak. Standard Oil made an appointment that day at a time that was convenient for me and ensured that I wouldnt be charged with over-time rates. Josh was extremely helpful and immediately found the problem and worked on a temporary solution. Standard also made the next steps of the process very easy to follow.
I was very impressed with my first experience with Standard Oil.I only recently purchased my home, so this was my first time needing to fill our oil tank. We returned from vacation to 30 degree weather and an empty oil tank meaning no heat or hot water! I called first thing the next morning as an emergency call and a technician was sent to my house same day. He provided some oil to hold us through the night, and even replaced some parts on the burner and oil tank that we did not know were damaged. The truck was back at my home in less than 24 hours of my initial call to fill my oil tank!Very impressed with the customer service of every person I have spoke to so far. Im happy to be a customer.

She declined, tech got the heat back on and left.Got home from work to a cold house. Called back. Phone person was totally rude.Waiting for another four hours for another tech to come because there’s no flame in the furnace.Update 12/10The other repairman came out within a few hours and fixed the issue. Standard rep called me and issued a partial credit for my time and inconvenience. He was very polite and helpful.
Twice this week we had issues with our heating system and both techs, Joe then John, arrived promptly and solved the problems in a timely and thorough fashion. This is the reason weve been your customer for nine years!
Great service. Considerate of a short term need to evaluate work needed to install propane. Im not even a customer, but was interested. They came out on a one day short notice, spoke to my contractor and provided us the information. Just that service and responsiveness alone convinced me they were the ones to select.

We recently moved into a new home and for the first time would be using an oil based heating system. We would have liked to avoid oil, but it is what it is, we were just hoping we could find a reliable supplier. We thought we had found that with Standard oil, who had quoted us competitively against others, but things started going wrong after we had signed the 12m contract. First of all they were calling us frequently and asking us to call back in the voicemail, but when we did they didnt know why we were calling them back. Howerver the bigger issue came when we had our first bill which was $200+ more per month that we had been quoted. When we called the representative defended it and basically said, it is what it is. But I persisted and called back again to speak with somebody else, who eventually admitted that the computer made an error. There was scarcely an apology or real admission that Standard Oil had made a mistake, and not attempt to take responsibility. This was my first bill, my first experience, and Im already nervous about what is to follow. The easy excuse was that the system makes those mistakes from time to time. Well, I wonder how many other people are paying too much... and I wonder if they would have ever come to me and pro-actively told me about the error, had they ever discovered it themselves, or would they just have been happy that I was paying them $1,400 a year more than I should have been!?
Beware of their service plan. Standard oil promises you free tune up with their service Plan and it is the main attraction of their plan. However I was told that since I did not schedule the tune up in the spring I can forget about it. Not a good way to run a business or keep costumers happy.Update: Standard oil reached out to me within a day of posting this review and made it right. I am promised a tune up in February as long as I remain a customer. Thank you Daryl.

I was given misinformation that is now costing me $849 right before the date of my childs birth. I wanted to cancel the account but was never told the process, simply that it was cancelled with the information I gave and I didnt have to worry. Made my last payment and left it as is. We received a delivery I thought I cancelled. My husband calls and they tell him there is no note of cancellation. Then they go through the process of cancellation with him saying he would have to send and email in order to finalize cancellation. This is the information I was not told. Why $849 dollars? Because it turns out they did not receive my last payment and it is now double. The stress this has caused me is unbelievable, not to mention the entire process. The fact that I spoke to someone who reassured me it was cancelled and I was all set, really pisses me off. PLEASE go through the information with your customer service reps. These $849 costs me an argument, stress, and penny pinching elsewhere just to accommodate a company that misinformed me of a very basic procedure!!!!!
I woke up in the morning to no heat. I called Standard Oil to request a service call. A technician arrived in less than an hour even though I was told 2-3 hours. Turned out to be a simple repair that took less than 15 minutes, parts and labor covered under my service contract. I was very happy with the response time and professionalism of the technician. All in all a positive experience.

I was with them for over ten. Never had a problem. I had their pay year round program and I had their service plan. I even purchased and had them install a new furnace. Then this year my wife who is pregnant switched banks. She forgot to switch the oil company to the new account since we auto pay all our bills. After ten years we received a nasty letter in the mail telling us to get a new Oil company. We did.
Standard Oil has been our fuel oil provider and has maintained our heating system for nearly 2 years. We have been very satisfied with the responsiveness of the customer service staff, and the competence, skills and professionalism of the technicians who have come to our home.

We have a big old boiler that just keeps going and based on their excellent service we chose them for central air conditioning. I called with no heat in one of our zones and a technician was sent first thing the next morning which worked with my schedule. Dave called ahead as promised and quickly diagnosed the most likely problem which it turned out it was. He was in and out in about half an hour and we are set to heat the whole house now.
Service man came to our home short time after our emergency call. It turns out, while we had paid our May bill, there was no fuel delivery which left us without hot water. Service man filled 10 gallons in tank until fuel service. Because of empty tank he had to do a procedure to ensure safety of fuel to our oil burner. Extremely satisfied with this serviceman.

Weve had standard oil for over a year now and honestly, its disappointing. Their algorithm for refueling is never right. Ever. We have to constantly monitor our oil but whats worse is if we call for a fill, they still come back way too soon soo we get hit with back to back bills. On top of that their payment system is horrible. Its always glitchy and its a pain to get a payment processed. And forget calling to get your payment processed over the phone, theyll charge you for that unless your account is overdue. There is zero care for the customer. Ill be looking for different options for next winter for sure.
Its great to be able to count on these guys. As a customer for almost a quarter of a century now, I have had a chance to appreciate this well run business. From the time I call to to the time I am left with my heat working properly and safely, I have truly been impressed. Honest, real review. No kidding.
Woke up to no oil the house was already 54 degrees called and spoke to the dispatcher about getting an emergency delivery told her I was disabled and not a current customer she was rude and demanded a credit check after that I was told no for a delivery and then abruptly hung up on would not reccomend this company to anyone

I was impressed by Mr. Rodriguez who did a thorough job cleaning our unit. He discovered we needed anodes in our water tank which had never been checked before. The tech who came to replace the anodes was very thorough and professional. Standard service is exceptional.
We had a cold night and our propane furnace didnt turn on. We didnt have an appointment but the customer service rep said she would look into it. The company called back and at the end of the day, THREE service vans showed up to take care of us. I am sure they wanted their day to be over, but you couldnt tell - they were so friendly, diagnosed our problem and found a part from one of the three vans and they got us back up and running. We use Standard for our oil and propane and servicing all things for our HVAC and I highly recommend giving them a chance to make you happy also.
The men were very nice they clean every thing up. they showme what they did. And Sunday came they was no heat so I acall Standard Oil Company, and they came and gave me heatit was cold Mother Day. Now Im waiting for the alarm people tocome and the the alarm. I bin with you people still 2006.

It was a delight to sign up to become a Standard Oil customer with Kathleen. I got an emergency delivery on our first day as customers, and a regular fill up the next day. Standard Oils website was easy to understand and I was able to talk to a person, at night, on a Sunday.
Great people and service. Moved to CT and Standard Oil was not the existing supplier at our new home. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff along with fair pricing converted us to Standard. They made the change easy and its been smooth from there.

Needed oil on a Saturday because my pellet stove had broken. Spoke to 3 successive people, while having to retell everything each time. I started with Im not a customer and I just want an on demand delivery. I was transferred twice . The 3rd guy told me that Id have to start an account and that because it was a Saturday that it was an emergency. I asked him why I had to talk to 3 people to finally be told that they dont want my money. Crickets.I called Bethany Oil and the guy was at my house in 2 hours. I was charged the daily oil price. Needless to say, Bethany Oil will be getting my business in the future.
As usual, Standard Oil responded immediately to my request for a check of my furnace and water heater. The rep was courteous, professional and very helpful, even though the issue turned out not to be my Standard Oil products. I am very pleased to be a customer.

Not only did he replace the valve, he found another component of my boiler not functioning, and replaced that as well. He told me everything was covered under my contract! Id like to start out by saying Ive been a customer of this place for well over 20 years, the last 20 at the same address however. In recent years I have noticed they have been hiring younger less experienced drivers to deliver their oil. I have a difficult driveway to navigate if you attempt to back up it from the street. It is 180 feet or so and shaped like an S. But it was designed and paved in such a way to be wider at the curves and bottom so it can be navigable by trucks like UPS, FedEx, US Mail, Furniture delivery, pool water, etc. None of the aforementioned trucks have issues, only Standard Oil trucks. There have been plenty of drivers that make it up my driveway without issue, they just have to know what they are doing, not rush and pay attention. Some of their drivers obviously cant do this. I have to mention that there is no need to drive up my driveway to make delivery of any kind, the oil trucks have hoses long enough to reach if they walk it up - they are just being lazy. Ive seen them do this in the past so if they say their hoses arent long enough they are lying.In recent years when the ground is at its softest (usually Spring), we have an incident where one of their trucks goes on the lawn digs a huge trench and breaks a sprinkler head or two. One year, the driver was so bad he repeatedly went off and on the driveway so much trying to navigate that they broke up the blacktop. Standard Oil did the right thing, though and repaired their damage at their expense but not before they made me jump through as many hoops as possible.So, this week I get two notices, one by email, one by US mail. In the email, they indicate its time for me to have my furnace tuned up and cleaned. In the letter in the mail, they write they are closing my account because they are pretty much tired of fixing the damage they keep causing at my house and I should find another company for delivery and service. What they dont realize is back in January I paid them to install a new furnace and have a contract that states manufacturers warranty of 5 years will be doubled to ten years parts and labor if I continue to have my oil delivered by standard oil during that time on auto delivery. They breached the contract and refuse to acknowledge it. Basically I was told to move on and they dont care.They think one customer doesnt matter. Even one theyve had for over 20 years. Is this the type of company you want to be using? One that couldnt care if you were their customer or not? Go ahead and find someone else. Let that sink in and then go ahead and pass on them. You dont need the aggravation.

Called Standard at 5AM they were onsite by 7AM resolving the issue. Always reliable and willing!
Be very careful when dealing with this company. They edited a document I signed after I had already signed it to lock me into an agreement for longer than I plan to live in this state. Very dishonest and untrustworthy company. I would stay far away from them.
