While I only really go there if Im looking at the Halloween store across the street it was a really nice place with lots of beautiful things there at fair prices. Over the years though I dont know what happened. The prices are really high, like some of the items dont seem worth it bc of the price. I also think the clothes selection has become poor and there is not much to choose from even though the store is very well stocked. Also the employees are ok though they never ask if you need help you just have to wait for them to acknowledge you at the check out counter.
I used to come to this store religiously, but I think they’ve fallen quite a bit in my opinion.Their sales associate was quite rude when I went in and while they used to have a lot of the vintage clothes I was interested in, they no longer have the clothes that I am interested in. I used to love the women who worked in here, but it seems that since COVID hit they have changed quite a bit.I’m not sure what happened, but I would say they have about half the amount of clothes they used to. They have a lot of home goods, which are fine, but the title is literally “Playclothes” implying they’d have more clothes than they did. To be honest, if I’m going to get vintage home goods, there are other places I’m going that are far more affordable in price. I’m super disappointed since coming here. Almost any antique store has a better selection than this store. The only difference is they have a (smaller) selection of clothes.I hate to do this, but at this point if you’re looking for vintage clothing I’d definitely recommend hitting up other stores or online stores. They seem to be about the same price but with way more selection. Perhaps if they change their store back to what it used to be I would be happy going here, but as of right now, I’ll definitely avoid it.
This store has something from every Era and more. Halloween is soon to be in-store. Great rentals and purchase items. Staff is friendly and very helpful
Packed with true vintage clothing, accessories, and more, very fun and attractive store, reasonable prices. Walking distance from eateries and other fun vintage shops, easy parking, great area to spend a whole day!
One of the very best vintage stores in the Los Angeles area. Think of it as a museum of fashion where you can buy the exhibits. As soon as you walk in the door, you can see the quality everywhere, including the building itself. A former showroom for fancy architectural molding and wood floors, the space is a wonderland of crown moldings, painting ceilings and chandeliers. It looks like a set designers idea of a palatial boutique from the past thats as spectacular as its contents. But, the clothes and accessories are also spectacular. If you like vintage, this is truly about as good as it gets. These were high-end clothes (not all designer or couture, but beautiful design and construction). The condition of the items are so good they all tend to look like new!If I hadnt been shopping with a mission for back to school clothes, I could easily have spent hours there--I will go back and do just that.A surprising and delightful place, run by very nice people.
The most helpful and friendly people ever ! answered all my questions and left with some gorgeous pieces highly recommended ! there’s just so much stuff here !
Vintage style clothes. Clean, helpful staff. 1920s to 1980 items. Will definitely be back!!
Great store and very friendly staff
First time, but it wont be the last! The clothes are great- divided by era- but its the glass bottles, the hats, the bags... i got a lacquered wood purse thats so unique and so beautiful i was stunned! And the ladies there were so cool to talk to, and helpful. Ill definitely be back!
Thank you so much for helping with my daughters shoes..
Really nice people, super cute thingsToo much to look at in one trip! Will be back soon!
Dear owner of Playclothes Vintage,During my purchase of an expensive hat you commented to me, This is such a nice hat, Im surprised youre buying it. What exactly does that mean? That was three years ago and it bothers me to this day... andIm pretty good at letting things go.
Went here for the first time with my husband about a week ago, and the fact that we are discussing it still says a bit about our experience. The only thing that was said to us by the employees when we entered was to sanitize our hands, which is absolutely fine and we readily did, but that was the extent of their welcome. For the little over an hour that we were there, that was the only time they reached out to us. When asked a question, it would be answered, but the experience never felt personable. The only personable “employee” was the precious cat, who graciously let me pet her. While there are a lot of clothes, the variety as for eras felt limited; lots of items if you’re looking for 1960s-90s. Many of the items seemed to be tossed wherever, and broken hangers on the floor.I was quite surprised when I lifted a hat that had been sitting face-down on top of a spinning hanky display to see it had beautiful decorative flowers being crushed into the display. I took it to the front to be purchased, but it took a moment for one of the three employees standing there to acknowledge that I was there. While the cat was adorable and the one hat is stunning, sadly the lack of customer service and variety makes this place a store I would pass on.
Very cool place. Where you can find old clothes for a new play. Retro! Lets go! Get zuited and booted! 1950s - 60s style. Get it now. Or you just may have to wait another 70 plus years. Give or take.
Love this place. Such a variety and so much packed into a small space. Very nice staff, reasonable prices.
Very very very cool and kind staff! One of the cutest places in existence. Great selection of 20s-90s clothes. Didnt find anything my size but I dont think thats their fault
The shop keep was very friendly and a fun to talk to. The selection was amazing. The best place Ive found for vintage clothes and accessories.
Of all the vintage stores I’ve visited in LA, this one is the best. They have such a wide range of styles from many decades (1920s onward). I’ve spent hours here looking through what they have. Some of my favorite vintage pieces are from this store!
A tasteful pile of treasures.
This place is really great. They have soooooo much stuff in there and the people working inside are super nice and helpful. Toni helped me out and she was great, thanks Playclothes!
This place never disappoints! Love it, love the items for sale!
Best vintage store in LA! Ive been shopping there for 20 years and its still my happy place. Great selection, prices, and staff.
I stumbled upon this place not too long ago, and I love it. Even if youre not planning on shopping, its really great just to look around. It seems like they have clothes from all different decades. Such a great vintage store, Id love to visit it again.
Really cool place. Not my cup of tea but my wife really loves it. Its a trip to see all the different styles of clothes from many eras as well as different antiques.
Great place for vintage clothing and accessories! The people are generally very nice and cool. Great cufflinks
Offered a price on a few items and they gave a counter offer. After looking on the receipt they didnt give the counter amount and charged me full price. When I asked they said they threw in a 10% vip discount even though that was supposed to already be included. This was not a good experience and I will not be a returning customer.
Wonderful clothes but didn’t fit right after buying and has no exchange or refund policy, I spent 90.00. With no refund or exchange policy I’m really disappointed 90.00 just thrown out the window.
Steve and I came all the way from Melbourne to visit this amazing store which got such a great rap in the Vintage LA book. The authors write up did not disappoint! This is the creme de la creme of vintage in LA. Not only is the shop an amazing architectural marvel to behold but it has full room sized dressing rooms that are comfortable and convenient with full sized mirrors and excellent lighting! Well, it does not stop there ladies AND GENTS because Playclothes has wonderful farm and friendly staff, a gargantuan array of womens vintage and wait for it...heaps and heaps and heaps of mens gear. The prices are great also! 10 out of 10 Playclothes I loved the experience of shopping there! Joey Backseat.
Great finds. Always find something to take home. Vintage at its best.
Enjoyable and artsy atmosphere. Lots of items. Crowded with stuff but makes it all the ore interesting to find stuff.
Was a bad experience! I’ve bought quite a few things there in the past few years usually for Halloween but this time June 26th I went in to sell. My appt was at 2;30 and I got their early. I was told Wanda was running 15 minutes late. I spread out all my stuff in a dressing room and waited & waited & waited. She popped her head in a said a few more minutes. 3:00 hits and she is still In the room next door with another buyer. I had to be at work in West Hollywood at 4 and I’m getting frustrated. Her employees kept coming in and apologizing for her then I hear she finishes with her other appointment and goes to the front where I can still hear everything. About 3:10 I hear her employee tell her “your appointment is still waiting in the room for you” and Wanda replies “Oh.. I know” and still makes me wait another 10 minutes. She finally comes in and says sorry I fax to speak to a set stylist “ you know how it is. Whatever!! My time meant nothing to this woman so she goes through my stuff . A lot of stuff! Putting a pile aside she’s interested ini clouding jewelry. Sterling silver pieces among vintage costume etc. Then she asks what I want the everything and I told her to make an offer and she has the audacity to wave her had over everything and says $150 I told the jewelry alone is wirth more considering I had a Vintage spider with an amber stone for the body.i asked if she would do $200 and she says. “No..forget the clothes ehT do you eant for the jewelry? I was so appalled I couldn’t even think at that point. All I can think is I have to now pack up everything, be at work for my client, and this rude person just wasted my time.. I sold the jewelry for $60 and was so upset with myself when I left. I only wish I left with everything. She takes advantage of people. Her markup is so highly and most people know that shop there. I’ve sold things to other shops before but can’t remember ever leaving with feeling I had when I got out of there. Usually the buyer gives you prices fir each thing Individually so she get you by honing you a lowball price for everything. How so insulting. she apologized again for being late when I left but I now know she’s a condescending woman and was absolutely not sorry. What a weird bad experience. I make a point to support small businesses but I will never step foot in that store again! Wanda takes advantage of people that are trying to make a buck. I didn’t need the money like others that would of let her swoop all that stuff for $150. I could of sold a few pieces of the jewelry for more in weight if the silver. I even had a dress she looked and and said she doesn’t carry a dress that when I actually bought it there when I was a Carrie for Halloween and payed $60 for. Sorry fir the long winded review but it felt good to get it out release the negative feeling I left with 😏
Nice store. A little miss ordered. Not a great selection for males but plenty for females.
Wonderful store vintage clothing nic,nac
Stumbled onto this store. Its really cool. Lots of costumes. We purchased some jewelry.
Amazing finds, and amazing staff!
Interesting place and well organized.
Great place, nice staff, beautiful items
Friendly staff and a variety to choose from, fair prices
The ladies that run this place will rather eat lunch in the middle of the store instead of helping customers....I was disappointed. Some of their items are very overpriced, and if you asked for a price discount, they are not very friendly about it. Maybe it was a bad Saturday for them....
I love this place and the service here is top notch!
This is melanie martinezs favorite store there for, you are winning
Best place in town.
