While I normally love this Philz, my most recent experience was really disappointing. I ordered an iced ginger snap coffee with extra cream and 20 minutes later I received a watered down coffee with barely any cream. I understand the morning rush can be stressful, but for 20 minutes of waiting, I expected better results. At that point I had no time to complain (I was already late), but hopefully Philz can come up with a better morning system for tackling each drink more quickly and with better care.
Great place to start your morning, the staff is friendly the drinks are good, wifi and you can do your work or school work while you have lunch .I love and support small business .Thanks!
Good coffee ad tea. Need sugar free coconut cream and lower prices.
My local Philz. Great staff and great coffee. Do yourself a favor and order a twice baked almond croissant while you’re there. If you need order inspiration, I get an iced Philtered Soul, medium sugar, medium oat milk.
Great little location, not too busy, nice outdoor seating area
Hours on Google are not accurate. 1:30 is a really inconvenient time to close a coffee shop. Service has slowed considerably in last 1.5 years but coffee is still good.
BRING PRICILLA TAPIA AND THE OLD CREW BACK! Lol EVERY ONE IN THIS STORE IS SUPER SLOW AND DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE CUSTOMER THAT IS THERE. THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ON TO GO ONLINE ORDERS SO JUST ORDER ONLINE IF YOU DONT WANT TO WAIT OVER 20 MINS ALMOST MISSED MY APPT BECAUSE OF THERE SLOW SERVICE I HAD TO LEAVE MY ORDER BEHIND 😒.
Ordered my coffee to the wrong location by accident, and when I realized it, they offered to make it here for me for free anyways - awesome customer service + delicious coffee (as always) :)
No acknowledgement, took over 20 mins just for a coffee and a half cold breakfast sandwich.
A place for some nice pour over coffee when I feel like treating myself. Its a bit pricey (at least pricier than coffee at home), and it takes a bit of time to have it prepared, but its quite good. I prefer having the iced Mint Mijito, as i would not be able (or at least, would be less likely) make that drink at home.
We love Philz coffee and we come here a lot. However, we had recent bad experiences with this location and the Philz app. While it’s understandable there’s a longer wait when it’s busy, it’s not acceptable to wait another 20 minutes after the app tells you the coffee is ready for pickup.
The line was long..but I can see why because they make one cup at a time and many different varieties of coffee.. the drip takes a while to make but it is totally worth the wait.. and I had Tesora drip as recommended by the Batista.. it is so smooth..the aroma was unbelievable.. although there is a hint of sourness...bUt very little. Wish they have it in Canada
Coffee with spice. Not my taste.
1) Multiple whole coffee beans in my Hot CHOCOLATE.2) Leaky bottom of cup3) Cracked lid
Philz is objectively the best cafe. They have the most amazing iced tea and their croissants are the G.O.AT.Their employees are nice, very nice.Better than Starbucks 100%
The staff are all super friendly, the service is always perfect, and the coffee is always great. I refuse to get coffee anywhere else local.
Good coffee but super slow
The Turkish coffee was impressive, but Im concerned. It tasted so good I had to find out what made it taste that way. Well at Philz website, tobacco, is listed as one of the few ingredients in this coffee beverage.Umm, what? Imagine discovering your favorite flavor ice cream included tobacco in its ingredients. I think even smokers, would have reservations eating this flavor with that blended in, any longer, even if it tasted good! But then again it simply may be just, a play on words. And if thats the case, its all good.
Good coffee and great service
No phil
Terrible customer service during covid. Front door was wide open. We crept in to ask about ground coffee to go and was violently waved out by an employee yelling you are not allowed in here, get out, get out. Wow! We scrambled away as quickly as we could. Then we saw this employee pull a table in front of the enterance as we departed from the chaos as quickly as possible. That site lost our business. Given the pandemic we might have caught the place at a bad time but why take it out on us? That employee could have offerd hospitality rather than such hostility! I rather go to the DMV then try that location ever again.
Very inefficient in how they balance in person orders and online orders, people ordering in person stand around for a half hour as online orders that don’t get picked up stack up before anyone is even there to pick it up
Always a fave when I go into the bay. Love the bitterness of true coffee with the ability to add creamer and sugar if you prefer. All hand made with very talented and patient baristas. I like it simple and straight black. You can have it however. Parking will always be an issue, but thats bay life for you. They have an array of baked goods and must try goodness. I havent tried them yet, but will the next time I visit. Great quality coffee within a chill location. Never feeling rushed and easy to bring on the go. Live to grab a cup and stroll around town with my favorite person. Makes me all smiles inside and out.
Philz Coffee is a bay area chain of coffee places, so what makes it different than the 100 other coffee chains these days? Well, they seem to focus on sustainable and fair trade sourced goods, such as for their coffee beans. They also have the requisite wide variety of pastries, breakfast sandwiches and other minor food items. In addition, each location has a fun and funky feel to it that I appreciate as opposed to the cold corporate industrial cookie cutter vibe I get from Starbucks and the other usual suspects.Check it out and see what you think for yourself 🙂 I recommend an iced mocha tesora!
This is one of the less hectic, more in-control Philz in the area. The line is usually not bad unless you go around 10 am on the weekend. The staff are friendly and efficient. The inside is a little cramped when you are waiting for your brew, but once you have your coffee you can go outside and enjoy at a table.
Disregarding my desire to shill endlessly for Philz: a beautiful place! I got an iced ecstatic with only almond milk and it was g-r-e-a-t. They have vegan donuts -- a metaphysical anomaly of the modern world -- and great personalities. [~ g r e a t ~]
Love all the Philz locations! This place is in the smaller venue size compared to some other Philz. They have indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly as well as the people! Theres also some art and any local artist that wants their art on display can just ask the workers!
They have so many coffee options to offer, and I just love how they name the drinks in a very unique way. I ordered the New Manhattan and instantly fell in love with the light citrus flavor and the creamy aroma in it. Definitely will come back for another coffee experience!
This is my new favorite coffee house. The comfy ambiance and full service coffee bar were delightful. I ordered the Mint Mohito .it was amazing. Loved that they make choosing the sweetness level of your drink super easy. There are also food options which looked both healthy and delicious. Cant wait to go back to Philz. Oh, forgot to mention that they have nice 90s and early 2000s hip hop/pop music playing. Only downside is that it looks like at some point in the near future youll have to pay to park in the adjacent lot.
The quality is consistent with other Philz shops. Its excellent. Its smaller, and likely not a great long term place to hang.
Always awesome coffee and chai tea and food.Their chai tea deserves special mention. They make it FROM SCRATCH, NO LAME SUPER SUGARY SYRUP. You can specify how much and what time of sweetener (honey!) and what type of tea (chamomile at night)! And they use frothed cream. The masterpiece is topped with mint. It is my favorite thing on their menu.
Very helpful, and nice, staff. First time ever and am happy with the coffee, almond pastry, and friendly service. Just not quite as delicious as Peets.
Really nice staff, but unfortunately super limited seating. I brought my own mug and she didn’t fill it up all of the way even though other Philz baristas at other locations always do (it’s normal sized).
Coffee shop trying too hard to be something more than it is. My iced coffee was a hot coffee with ice added to it. So I had a semi-warm $8 coffee. Nice.
Dont be offput by the graffiti-style logo, Philz Coffee is a gem. Highly recommend the Tesora for most people. For hazelnut coffee lovers, the Philtered Soul is a must try. Personally, I prefer the coffee here to more chic cafe chains like Blue Bottle.
Nice hangout to do work on your laptop or sit at the sidewalk tables with friends. Beware that this place only has drip coffee done Ina a unique way. So, no espresso or latte. But, good vibes make up for the lack of Italian-style java.
Always friendly, always great coffee made right.
This local chain is a reliable place to get coffee, with friendly and helpful staff. Like any other Philz, the staff is ready to adjust my coffee if it didnt quite have the right sugar and cream. Unlike some other fancy coffee places, I know my dark roasted coffee will be darkly roasted, not some lightly-roasted beans being passed off as dark roast. I cant stand ordering an espresso only to discover its full of citrus notes and acid.During the work morning rush hour, you may be waiting a while to order, but its worth it!
These folks are great. Fast, friendly service. They treated me and my family really well. The coffee was up to Philz standards, which was great. Love it.
Straightforward. Pourovers only. Try it Philz way. Or reduce cream/sugar to your liking.
Best coffee Ive had in a while. The taste was more.. natural.. if that makes sence. Real good place for a morning boost.
Good coffee cool staff but wish the bathroom was better maintained
Good staff. Always friendly, well trained. The manager deserves props. Coffee is great, the same at all locations. Too small, can’t sit, lounge and be comfy.
Great place to study or hang out! Plenty of outlets, and workers are great as at every Philz. Just opened. It is a bit small but during off hours you can almost always find a seat inside, and outside is usually a given all the time.
Another awesome experience. Did you know there is a secret menu.... I ordered a combination of Silken Splendor with Philtered Soul.... aka, Silken SoulHappy Holidays!
This long anticipated location is finally open. Good coffee as always, though the space is really more optimized for take out rather than drink in. Really small. Staff is very nice.
Great place to work from. Good pastries and coffee. Great service. open early!
Best place to have coffee after work
Drinks and service are solid at this philz location. metered parking around burlingame ave can be difficult depending on the time of day. also fyi there is very little seating to work/study or even have a conversation -- people are bumping into one another everywhere. a few tables outside but way too cold during this time of year (thanksgiving)
So I live in Pacifica and pass the Westborough Philz as I make my way to the Burlingame location. Having worked in customer service for the last 13 years, I understand what it takes to make someone feel welcome and appreciated...and thats exactly what this crew does! Not only do they make your visit feel special, they also make your drink right the first time! Ive been to the other location multiple times and have had the misfortune of waiting 40 minutes for a cup of coffee (including a 20 minute wait in line). I digress...keep up the great work Burlingame!!!
They are very polite and friendly, oh, quick too 🤓
Great if you like dark roasts. they trend on the darker side of roasting.
Really good coffee, complex taste profile, amazing touch adding mint
Love the selections and enjoy the pastries. My favorite is Greater Alarm😬😬🤯
Nice change from.most chain brands. Coffee is delicious and smooth.
Everyone here was super nice and patient (Ive never been before)! And my barista was super sweet and made AMAZING coffee
An awesome coffee shop. The staff are very friendly and helpful. DK the supervisor is awesome and is well versed in his coffee knowledge and will help out if you want to try something new. The store is clean and has outdoor seating. It does feel cramped sometimes if there is quite a line. Another drawback is there is only one bathroom. And, unless you plan on hanging out here, its not too big of a problem.Overall, I love this Philz, its consistent with their coffees and friendly staff.
I messed up my mobile order but barista was super friendly and helpful in making it right!
Pretty solid coffee that is fully customizable to match your palate. I wish their whole-bean coffee show the Roasted on date.
Always a great experience at any Philz. Way to make a great coffee shop and hangout place! Now if only i could get an espresso...
Very bad service.
First time trying Philz coffee. i got the iced gingersnap and loved it!
The line system is a bit confusing if youre new to philz. The coffee is good though.
First time ever knowing about this place. Thanks to my sister I am now hooked on mint mojito lol! Love the quality and taste of their coffee. Service here is also great! Be patient because every drinks are individually hand made!
Bgame Philz is amazing! The staff is so wonderful and lovely every day. The Coffee is top notch too.
Great selection of coffees which are fun to watch being made. Great taste too
I like stopping by here sometimes in the morning. Not as crowded as the other ones. Sometimes there no line around 7:30am
This is the closest Philz to our house, so we love to drop in. They never disappoint! Love the outdoor seating!
Love that their default is heavy whipping cream if you ask for cream! Soooo yummy!!! I try to avoid sugar so order Tesora extra creamy, no sugar and it is delish! Also, I prder the mint mojito creamy and light sweet and its amazing for a hot day since it is iced.
The coffee is 4 stars, the food is 2 stars. Coming from the East coast there is some bias, but microwaved frozen commercial foods are geneally bad no matter who/how.Coffee has some depth of flavor, but I’ve just personally had much better. Probably the best option around Bulingame, unless you can find a Red Giant place.
Anything less than a five star review for Philz Coffee and its AMAZING baristas is simply due to someones inability to be happy in life. But in all seriousness, these people love what they do, they love taking care of you through the ritual of a cup of coffee YOU will love, and they do it with a laid back smile. It takes you back to the way to Bay Area used to be before the easily-offended, fussy crowd took over.Love this spot for its great people, incredible coffee made to your taste, and the time they take to get you exactly what you want to move your day along.
We all luv Philz.....try their hot chocolate
Great place! Friendly people. Nice atmosphere.
Needs more indoor seating. If there are more than 4 people in front of you if may take a while before you actually take your first sip. The whole flow of operation of all phliz in general is not geared towards quick coffee service if that is what youre looking for.
Great strong rasty coffee. the barista knows and made the coffee excellent.
Had the tesora coffee and the avocado toast. The coffee was so good I bought a bag of the beans. Great atmosphere and friendly baristas
Always wonderful.
Good coffee friendly service, I wish they would have less tables and chairs, it is packed to sit and work on computer
Its Philz. So, the coffee is good. However, the food selection is pretty weak (no pastries and only pre-packaged baked goods).
I had never been before today. The line was almost out the door when I arrived. The ordering process was slightly chaotic and it seemed like everyone else knew what to do, but the staff was friendly and receptive. I ordered a mint iced tea and wow! Lots of real mint crushed in the bottom. Very refreshing and exactly what I needed! Free wifi was also a plus! 😆🍵
The specialize in making a Pour Over coffee made to order. Wi-Fi with plenty of interior seating. Back door right across from a multi-level city parking lot. Parking is free after 6PM, Sundays and holidays. Very close to the movie complex too.
I tried the iced coffee and is really good
Hand made coffee to your liking. Great coffees!
Never has there been a more friendly group of folks in one place. They were so quick to learn my name, face, and drink of choice! At this point, the treatment feels downright royal.YOU MUST VISIT THIS PHILZ.
First time at this location, usually we go to the one in SSF. Ordered the iced Mint Mojito and a iced Ether, both sweet and creamy. 1 it took pretty long considering that there were only 3 people in line including myself. 2nd it wasnt as sweet and creamy for both. Had to asked to make it a little sweeter and creamier.Usually have no problems ordering it at other locations. Perhaps he was a new barista. 🤷🏽♂️
Burlingame Philz is always good to me on Friday mornings
Philz coffee has great brews, but its the atmosphere and staff that really bring it home for me. And Burlingames Philz hits that mark easy.
One of the best cups of coffee Ive had. They make each cup fresh and the atmosphere is lovely
