What a little gem hidden in an outlet mall. Dont blink because you will miss it. Shall I say we were a bit skeptical when we drove up, yup, but once inside, the CLEAN surroundings, the wonderful looking food coming out of the kitchen, and the prompt and kind service, our initial thoughts of doom & gloom soon turned into pleasure and relaxation. The breakfast was perfect, very tasty and hot out of the kitchen! Charity took great care of us and we could not have been happier to find The Curious Chef, we shall return.

The only reason there is 2 stars is because the waitress was kind and the atmosphere was pleasent. Once we got our food though... Its all frozen or prepackaged. The hash came out of a can that they fried. The chicken I got was a tiny little chicken breast youd get from a frozen bag of salt added chicken. I will not come back andI will advise friends from. For almost $50 we got dehydrated hato NOT go here own with canned corned beef and potatoes mixed. Toast and a chicken melt that was anything but fresh. You may as well just go to Dennys the quality is about the same maybe a lil better even and it wont cost twice the price.

This is a good place to eat. The food is cafe style and consistent. I meet here with some friends about once or twice a month and just enjoy visiting for couple hours. Weve never been asked to leave they always refill our coffee and have great attitudes.

Old fashioned diner food is very good and the portions large. Great American Cafe style. Ambiance simple - no frills. Service is good even when busy.

Its good! Not amazing, but a decent solid choice for a reasonable meal and a reasonable price. Service was a little slow, as there only appeared to be one server on, but she was nice, helpful, and on the ball. I looked at some other plates being delivered and all the meals looked tasty.. Well be back.

I attempted to order off the Childrens menu due to my personal dietary restrictions. Smaller portion for a smaller price of $8.00. There was no al a cart items available. Senior menu was offered to my father (after inquiry) at a smaller senior portion with only $1.00 off regular price. 🤣 Breakfast plates are approx. $14.00 - $16.00. Quality of food is higher at this establishment from past experience. They would NOT allow me to order a childs meal. I was NOT asking for anything but the portion of their childrens menu, at the price they had put on that menu. THEY said NO. Instead they offered me a whopping 10% off the regular size menu plate (approx. 1.40 to 1.60 off) and a somewhat smaller portion for it. Um no. If they had put the needs of a customer first our bill would have been $28.00 plus tax and tip for the 2 meals and 1 beverage. $4.00 juice, $16.00 breakfast and a $8.00 breakfast. Which to me is better than nothing at all. It would have come with a good recommendation and review to my network of friends/family. Now, I will never show patronage to them again, I will tell everyone I know to NOT as well. When they fed the community during covid I praised their efforts, but when a paying customer simply wants to purchase a smaller meal to not be wasteful and am not allowed to do so SHAME on them. Freedom of choice? You bet. You can choose to not serve your customers a childs meal and I can choose to not be a customer. Zero stars. Wont ever be back. I went down the road and was served a childrens meal with a smile, they got a $20 tip for an $18.00 meal cause this is NOT about the money!

20 friends all of their various meals were very good. Horray for the staff.

TC ordering service was great for this pick up. My veggie omelette was delicious with lots of broccoli and mushrooms and other veggies. The biscuit with butter and honey was also delicious. And free drinks today! Love this place. Havent been for a while. A wide ranging menu too.

Very wide selection of well prepared excellent meals from breakfast thru lunch to dinner. Crispy chicken salad is very good. Cobb Salad even better with grilled chicken blue cheese crumbles bacon olives guac sour cream. My wife loves the turkey dinner plate (so does my cat who gets the left overs). Fish tacos are excellent (mild spicing, you can add hot sauce to your liking).Apple pie a la mode is marvelous - best apple pie I have had in many years. Other nice desert choices including cheese cake we have not gotten to yet but all look good. Service is responsive and very nice.

The people there were sooooo great and the food was amazing. I would have given a 5 but my husbands hamburger bun was a bit soggy . But the main stuff was amazing tho.

So so glad they are still open throughout the pandemic!!! Menu is scaled back a little bit. Food is HOT, milk is COLD, more than we can say for others. Our favorite breakfast place in the west.

Loved it a little pricey. But very good food and a old café feel. They have stuff from a time when my grandparents would take us out. Like the Joes Scramble and Ground Sirloin. But they also have new stuff. Fresh made pies and old timey milkshakes. We will be back.

Very out of the way location.Went in late on a Wednesday afternoon. Their only customers. Service a bit slow and it seemed like prep time for food was longer than it should have been.Food was very good. Would go again.

Unfortunately was a bad experience. A friend of mine from the area recommended it so I stopped in while passing through the city. After seating myself, I waited 5 minutes before getting a menu, then another 5 minutes before I got my drink and order taken. When asking a question about the menu, the waitress seemed irritated and reluctant to answer at times. She seemed very busy, the restaurant is probably just understaffed right now as there is a help wanted sign out front. I got the biscuits and gravy- the gravy was ok/good, but the biscuits were only ok. Nothing was made from scratch, but it was still very pricy. Including $3 For a packet hot chocolate. Will need to come back one more time to assure this wasnt a bad day/fluke, but I was not at all impressed with this restaurant.

Fantastic meal! Thanksgiving Day dinner with all the trimmings. Prior meals have included French Dip sandwich - very nice. Tender, flavorful beef. Not the quickest service, but friendly, fairly priced and high quality.

Excellent food! The Texas toast french toast was perfect. It had just the right amount of powdered sugar on it and came with syrup and whipped butter. It also has the option of adding blueberries or strawberries. The over easy egg ordered on the side was cooked perfectly as well. Quiet, old-time cafe atmosphere and great service.

When we stumbled along this quaint little spot it supposed the $#it out of us!I mean the breakfast is top notch yummy!

My Grandma loves their benedict, but I refuse to return. Take out orders are regular disasters. At first I was willing to forgive because the pandemic and new procedures, but now its not an excuse. It is not fun to have to return for critical ingredients every time, especially when its something vital to the meal.Im a former restaurant manager and found they were shockingly consistent with their failures (things like gravy for turkey left off, or side dishes completely forgotten). I will never get to try their benedict because I dont think they are worth another chance.Their attempts at renumeration were inadequate. A free side dish next time was the only offered solution for having to repeatedly return for missed ingredients. This happened EVERY ORDER. The last time I went I rummaged through the order before driving home and was glad I did.If you absolutely must try this place then go risk Covid in person because its the only way you can be sure they will get your meal right.

Love the food. You also get enough of it to enjoy for another meal. The atmosphere is comfortable and the menu has a multitude of choices. Prices are good also. We like to go when our favorite server is working. Her name is Brittany and she is the best server anyone could ask for. We just love her.

I wanted to like this place so much more than I did. The menu was large, the service was good, the food was OK, the plate sizes were just right. I had one of the specials and there was nothing that really stood out. It was just OK.

Finally received food after 50 minutes from coming in the door. Took a long time to get my menu, water or put my order in. Then I sat for quite a while with no acknowledgement of my existence. Finally flagged my server down to ask about my meal. There was a big door dash order. That doesnt explain among the worst service I have ever experienced. The food is fabulous but I will really have to consider a long time before returning. I would not have left a poor review if the server had communicated, and I explained it to her. Oh, and I am a customer service professional.

This is my go to place when I travel to Vernon. Tucked away in the outlet mall is this fantastic restaurant. The food is better than homemade and the staff make you feel like you are at home. There is nothing bad on their menu, if you find this place I suggest having the Eddie special sandwich. It is a grilled chicken breast with melted Swiss cheese and tomato on parmesan grilled sourdough bread.

Ive been here the least two days for dinner and I was thrilled to find home cooked, delicious and appetizing food. Dave, our waiter, was so kind and right on target getting our food to us when it was hot. Thank you Dave. This is a place I will frequent often when we come through Mt Vernon.
