Delicious ice cream and VERY generous portions. I rarely eat ice cream, but joined my wife in getting some and was glad I did. My wife definitely loved the ice cream too.

I decided to stop by Handels in Westfield to try the key lime pie ice cream this afternoon. With the weather being a scorching 90°+, I expected a wait. However, to my surprise, the line wasnt very long today. I was able to order after just a few minutes of standing. The total was around $5 for two scoops in a dish. I enjoyed the ice cream flavor and the small pieces of pie crust mixed in. It wasnt overly sugary and just felt fresh, so it definitely meets expectations for homemade. Overall its not a bad stop if youre in the mood for a dessert. Ill be back to try another of their flavors, soon.

Never really understood the hype over Handel’s. Line is always long but I have definitely tried better ice cream elsewhere. Staff is always nice. I personally think it’s overrated.

We went to try their new lemon bar ice cream flavor and it didn’t disappoint! Product is top notch, management is warm & welcoming, very clean, and the line moved quickly. 10/10 do recommend!

I liked it, similar to Brusters ice cream. The scoops were generous...my picture is one scoop but it looks like two. The strawberry was creamy and tasted like real strawberry. I didnt feel any ice crystals in the ice cream, which is good. The staff are all younger high school aged kids...some are extremely helpful and others act a bit more their age.Overall, Id go back to try other flavors. Prices arent bad for the amount of ice cream you get.

Easy to find, quick service, easy parking and delicious ice cream. Ive never seen a Handels that isnt packed, but the line moved relatively fast. I got the flavor of the month, Chocolate cake batter, and it was really good and tasted similar to chocolate cake. The scoops are huge too, and the prices arent bad for what you get. Highly recommend this place!

The pina colada smoothie is excellent!!!😊 Will enjoy the silk pie ice cream later...spoiler- its delicious too😉

This was the first time we have tried this place. My son got a milkshake and I had some of it. Omg what a wonderful milkshake. It was smooth and you can tell it was homemade. I enjoyed it and will be back to try others.

Went to the Handels on 146th Street in Carmel on Sept. 18. The ice cream was excellent and the service was good. However, there was an unpleasant odor of trash or sewer gas along the side of the store where the dining tables are located. The stench was so bad that we left. That issue really needs to be addressed.

The BEST ever ice cream spot in Carmel. There is competition but Handel’s winning it hands down. They have rich flavors of chocolate like chocoholic chunks which will satisfy your chocolate cravings. Their portions are pretty good too. I’ve been a repeat customer for a couple of years now and will recommend to anyone looking for an ice cream

I was very pleased with the customer service at Carmel Handels. In particular this young man named Zach was very helpful to my son and I. He is lactose intolerant and usually doesn’t enjoy dairy free ice cream. However this time was different. Very good options and lovely service. 10/10 would recommend

Adorable local ice cream shop. If you love ice cream its worth the wait. Highly encourage call aheads if possible. Side not the pops are a hidden gem !!! Oh and scoops are the way to go on a cone trust me !!

Moved to Indy couple of months ago and finally tried their ice cream. It was so good. The coffee chocolate chip one is the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I literally said “this is so good” like four times. Lol. I can’t/don’t eat dairy/lactose and I’ll literally risk it for that ice cream.

Best ice cream chain in the country. Super high quality, with a great variety of flavors. Very reasonable prices for the quality. Gets pretty busy in the summertime, but we went in the January and didnt have to wait.

Service was horrible, line was very long and employees standing around talking inside instead of waiting on customers.

The ice cream was very good. I got two scoops of orange sherbet, which was more than I expected, but it wasn’t too expensive and it was delicious. They had two people working, and one of the employees was talking to their friends at the window which was very impolite on the part of the friends and the employee. I had to wait longer than I should have because the other employee was doing all of the work. Other than that, great experience.

This is the best ice cream Ive had in Indiana and possibly the best Ive ever had. They have a wide variety of flavors so as long as you enjoy ice cream they are sure to have something that will interest you. Weve had them several times and none of my family has ever had anything we thought was less than excellent. The price might be a little bit higher than some of the chains but its more than worth the price difference. Try a milkshake made with their orange sherbet.

Me and my husband went there on a chilly fall evening. We were amazed on how many options they have with such great prices. $4 - $5 for scoops and sundaes!! They were absolutely delicious. A must visit for ice cream lovers.

First time: From when we got there, fell in line, ordered and when we received our ice cream took about 10-12 mins. Evening around 6:50-7p, there was a line but not too bad, there was a glare on the window where the menu is; it was kinda hard to read/see the words. We had strawberry ice cream that we thought was delicious and flavorful. We also had snickers ice cream and cotton candy. Which we agreed didnt taste as well as the strawberry. Will try different flavors another day.

Best ice cream in Carmel/Westfield area. All over cream is made on premises. Strawberry ice cream in particular is the best Ive ever had. Portions are generous and service is always friendly. If you are coming on evening with nice weather, be prepared to wait it line.

Overpriced, one day I will go up to them and say, “I want a refund, take off these 2 scoops give me money back now.” Horrible service I ask for one scoop. I get you guys want lots of money. But you guys need to have good service. I scoop equal 1 scoop not the three scoops. Please do not charge people. If people ask for 1 scoop, give them 1 scoop. PERIODT.

Really good ice cream! They have this flavor called Oreedough (oreo and cookie dough) that was great. Only real its not 5 stars is that they dont have anywhere inside to sit at.

I was visiting the area for my daughters birthday and I decided to take her out for ice cream. Horrible service. I came around 9 pm on July 23rd at the Handle’s in Carmel. The employee we talked to had blonde hair and was extremely short with me. I wish I caught her name because she needs to know how to treat customers. Other people made comments as they walked out of her window area as well. Extremely sassy and seemed annoyed with everyone when questions were asked. Ice cream was amazing but customer service, not so much.

Handels ice cream is always packed on a nice spring summer or fall day. It is also packed around dinner time when you go to one thats around a bunch of restaurants. The wait time is usually anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes before you can order and then it takes them at least another five minutes or so to make your ice cream and have it ready. With that said, there are so many flavors to choose from and so many different contraptions that you can order that it really makes it a good place to grab an ice cream. Personally I still think dairy Queen is my favorite because there is no soft serve at handles, but if you want some scoops of ice cream with some unique flavors this place has at least 20 or more at a time. I really wish Google would have given me the suggestion to review handles a while ago as I really cannot eat that much ice cream so my last dessert was pretty much an ice cream sandwich. Even though I want a pistachio, and they were out I still enjoyed my vanilla ice cream sandwich.

I got Double Cinnamon Graham Cracker/Salted Caramel Truffle. Amazing flavor and mouth feel. The former had bits of crumbly graham cracker, while the latter had the buttery richness of homemade caramel. Highly recommended.

Bethany is the most magnificent Handel’s worker in the galaxy. She scoops icecream like no other icecream scooper I have ever seen in my entire life. Her smile illuminated the entire atmosphere. I think she should be paid $1,000 an hour.

Best place on the Westfield/Carmel border to go for a wide variety of ice cream. My go-to favorite is birthday cake but they have so many to pick from depending on your mood!

Theres always a line wrapped around the building, but even so they get orders out very quickly. The staff is also very friendly. They have a huge selection of flavors and theyre reasonably priced.To me, theres nothing really special or outstanding about Handels, except for the service. There was nothing spectacular about the taste...it tasted the same as any brand with the same flavor.

This is my FAVORITE place for ice cream! They can tell you which flavors they just made and are softest and which have had time to freeze up a bit firmer. It is fun to order by texture instead of flavor because you already know you will love the flavor!

I usually really like this ice cream spot, but due to the customer service I felt earlier I will not be coming back. Yesterday night I got the ‘Chocolate peanut butter brownie’ ice cream. I came home to find out that it had over a scoop of pure solid peanut butter. So I waited for the following day (as they were closed) and drove back with the chunk of peanut butter and showed them. One of the workers told me that it is completely normal for there to be a huge chunk of peanut butter. So I ended up ordering another ice cream assuming they would take care of it, but I was expected to pay another $5. (I would not care if it was my fault, but no this was on them). I look at it’s description which states “chocolate ice cream with Reese’s Peanut Butter® ripple and brownie chunks” ripple is by definition “a type of ice cream with wavy lines of colored flavored syrup running through it.” so a huge chunk is not a ripple. I call the store after getting home, to voice my concern. The lady told me she makes the ice cream, and it was their fault, but doesn’t make an attempt to rectify their mistake. Most awkward call I’ve ever had with any customer service rep. If I wanted a scoop of peanut butter, I would walk over to Kroger and buy myself a whole jar of peanut butter for 1/2 the price. It’s only for their ice cream I have them a two star rating, customer service, beyond horrible. Thanks Handles.Handels did fix the mistake, so I will be giving it back the 5 stars it deserves!

One of the better ice cream stands in the area if not the best. Ice cream made on the premise daily. All quarts and pints are hand packed to order. A huge selection of flavors with extra flavors added seasonally. There are also offerings of sundaes with all the trimmings. My favorite stopping place for ice cream. No indoor eating areas but there are some tables outside to sit and enjoy your ice cream.

Best. Ice. Cream. EVER!! I would 100% recommend Handels to anybody that likes ice cream at all. They are also open all-year-round just in case you were wondering (I know lots of these mom and pop ice cream shops close for the winter but not these guys)

Always great ice cream. I always get the four samples, you get one scoop each of four different things. That way I can stick to my favorites (pistachio and butter pecan) and can try two new things every time. Love going there in the summer time.Always expect a long line though, as they are so popular, but the line moves fairly quick, about 10 minutes for your turn to come.

This place has THE BEST ice cream! Every time I find myself in the Carmel area, Ive got to have Handels. Their waffle cones are filled with quality ice cream at a great price. I recommend the chocolate raspberry truffle. Their customer service is always fast and friendly. Be ready to stand in line outside, though. This place is a walk-up and always busy. We waited 10-15 minutes the last few times I went. Totally worth it!

Our favorite ice cream shop in the area. Spouse like a house and chocoholic chunk are probably the most often purchased flavors for us, and the monster shakes are indeed monstrous. One shake will usually last me about 3 days... Or sometimes 2... Also, the staff is usually super friendly and the manager is great.
