Adam and the woodshop workers in the back of the warehouse did amazing job not only for my countertops for for the center Island with redwood and their life edges what a beautiful professional job they did in planing and gluing the slabs together the work speaks for itself through these pictures thank you again Adam and Fitch Lumber.

Bit more expensive than box home improvement stores, but staff knows their stuff and are very helpful. Good selection of quality hardware and tools.

I had a window that I purchased at Fitch lumber years ago that I have been unable to lock. I spoke with Bill on the phone and he really went above and beyond the call of duty and fixed the window for me immediately. I was expecting to have to wait days/weeks for a window replacement. Bill was awesome and super helpful. Thanks!

I had an excellent experience buying lumber from Fitch. The order was delivered quickly, the lumber was excellent, and the couple of pieces that either had (minor) cracks or were damaged during unloading were replaced the same day I notified them on the phone. All in all I warmly recommend them over the big box store.

Im always about supporting local businesses over large stores and have always used this store in the past but my experience today was very disappointing.I purchased plywood sheets which required 4 cuts in total. There was no mention of a charge when I placed my order. I noticed an extra $20 charge on my total and enquired. Told thats the shop charge for cutting...at which point I said a charge was never mentioned. No apology or form of rectifying the issue. Told it was 20 minutes work to make 4 cuts. Come on!! I couldve done it quicker with a hand saw.Not being transparent about additional charges is disgraceful but to think its justifiable to charge 20 minutes labour to make 4 cuts is outright robbery.

These folks were very helpful and did right by me with an order of Accoya decking. Its expensive and the whole transaction was professional, right down to the skill of the forklift operator. On top of that, they had the best price.

I am so impressed with Damon in the Fitch Lumber warehouse section. Damon is an AMAZING credit to Fitch. When Damon saw that we ordered the wrong product, he could asked us to describe our needs and identify what was the correct product. He was not only smart, but also so caring when he saw us sad that we did not know what to order. I will keep coming back to Fitch, and I hope that my path crosses with Damon again.

Fitch is what I want in a Hardware Store. Quality goods and helpful staff, even directing me elsewhere at times if they dont sell what I need. They have really risen to the occasion to keep the community safe during Covid, which only made me more of a fan.

Ordered some lumber via email for curbside pickup. They were very responsive and had quote to me very quickly. I was able to pick up the lumber the same afternoon. Curbside pickup was also very easy. My issue was with the quality of the lumber. When I got it home I found that much of the lumber is not usable. There are substantial cracks through the middle of the boards and major dents and chips on the edges. Great customer service but quality of lumber product is unfortunately not as good as big box stores.

Fitch Lumber is an institution here in Carrboro, NC. You can find ANYTHING!Even a dozen gallon sized canning jars! Yup...And they are VERY VERY stringent about Covid guidelines, all the while taking the work of finding what you need off your shoulders by pointing you in the right direction .You wont be disappointed.😁

This place is a classic for a very good reason. If you were giving grades to a business, this one would get A+. Great selection of hardware and lumber, excellent customer service and very reasonable prices that sometimes beat the big box stores. Today I needed a specific size of 1/2 plywood, and it was created in their shop on the spot where I waited 2 minutes, and then put in my car for me. Thats what I mean by great customer service!Fitchs is very convenient in Carrboro and I always want to buy local when I can.

When we asked Fitch Lumber to send us their top of the line decking boards for our new deck, we got the BEST boards around!! Our new deck is 99% finished and it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! It included two screened rooms off of the two master bedrooms and when we say screened rooms, we meant screened rooms, underneath as well as all the way around so NO bugs of any kind can get through!!! Yes, 5 stars or 10 stars if there was one, to Fitch Lumber!!! You deserve it!!!

I have had mixed experiences here in the years I’ve lived in Carrboro. At one point, I actually swore never to go back because I went in to get a key copied and the person who “helped” me could not have been more unpleasant. But after about two years of avoiding the place because of that experience, I found myself in possession of some leftover wood from a family member’s project, and not much experience building anything… so on a downtown walk, I stopped by the Lumber side for inspiration. I was nervous of interacting with employees because of my prior experiences, but someone I didn’t recognize from previous years (I believe his name was Lee) approached me so politely that I let my guard down and told him my situation. I told him I had all this wood that was too good to just burn, and I really wanted to try to build something simple to start with. After talking over ideas for a while, we landed on floating wall shelves, since I could manage those with the materials and tools I was comfortable with. Lee wrote down easy-to-follow instructions for me on paper, and the next day I tried them out. Everything went well and now I have perfect extra shelving in my bathroom for all my little bits and pieces of makeup and stuff. The whole thing was so pleasant that now I want to try something else a little more elaborate, and I will definitely go to Fitch Lumber for help and supplies… especially since that particular employee provided such a positive and helpful experience.

Fitch Lumber is great. Weve used them to supply windows for our home and windows and doors for our office condos. We did a lot of research on where to buy windows and talked a lot of people before we found Fitch. Theyre straightforward and dont make you sit through an aggravating sales pitch like we had with some other companies. Fitchs customer service is excellent and their prices are reasonable. Fitch is great for someone who is looking for value and not just the cheapest price.

Fitch Lumber and Hardware is a locally owned store that has been in business for years in Carrboro. One of the reasons for that is their knowledgeable, friendly staff. I also love that the store holds events for children and for the community. I always leave there feeling good. I highly recommend a visit!

This is, quite simply, the best hardware store Ive ever been to. Lets start with the staff: everyone who works here understands pretty much every element of hardware. And everyone is eager to help and has useful advice that makes figuring out what you really need easy.Then theres the selection: once or twice Ive gone to Lowes thinking Ill have more choice or find a better price on what Im looking for. In all cases Ive gone back to Fitch and found that I should have just started there in the first place.And let me speak to some of the more negative comments below: never have I ever experienced a lack of courtesy from the people in this store because Im not a professional builder. Quite the opposite. Instead, Ive had salespeople spend long amounts of time helping me figure out purchases that were under five dollars.Even my dog loves Fitch. The cashiers keep a bin of dog biscuits behind the counter.

I have had a great experience with Fitch Lumber, and will continue to shop there. Staff is courteous and helpful; even came out to my house to fix a tricky problem. A great buy local option with good selection and reasonable prices.

Great place. They have top quality, hard to find sealants, such as NP1.

We used Fitch during a window replacement project in 2017-2018 and I would not recommend them. Our carpenter and architect measured the rough openings (brick ranch). Fitch is supposed to be the expert on Marvin and use the measurements to find the best fit. However, they conservatively took out valuable sqaure inches of light with a bad RO clearance. Our carpenter had to add a lot of unnecessary shims to make it fit. I understand they arent the GC but they should have at least showed interest in getting the project right since we were giving them $7k+ worth of business. Additionally I caught several errors on quotes made by Fitchs Marvin associate during the interaction. When we complained, another associate reluctantly came by and stood on the site saying nothing and seemed even more clueless. Careless and lacking customer service.

I couldnt get anything today but the people here very friendly. Gives u the feeling of old towns,good thing. Nothing like Lowes... Stuff here cant find other places.

Ive always had very positive experiences there! Theyve always been super helpful and patient and kind when Ive had questions about anything. Never been sexist or demeaning. Prices are very fair. Really encouraging. Context: Im a young woman just getting into the diy repair thing, and my husband and I are in our first *nice* rental house. Fitches is our go-to.

If you are a builder, their service is the best around. If you are a homeowner with a job, their hours are the worst around.Theyre also guilty of the same thing the big box stores are guilty of. They will have 7 of the 10 things you need to do your job, the other 3 will be out of stock. In other words, you cant do your job.

If you have a big project they will be interested and helpful, if you are not a regular and need a couple things here and there you could feel that they lack some courtesy.

Convenient if youre in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.
