After showing her the bike, he proceeded to say and I quote, “But you probably can’t afford it”. Now, it’s my understanding that your business is to sell and service bicycles for the community no matter who lives in that community, but for this young man to assume that this African American Lady could not afford the bike in question does not look good for your business. I would really like to have a discussion with you regarding this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

From out of town, but had a couple pf bicycles for family members that needed some TLC. They definitely got that from the Hall staff. Id be willing to drive the 200 miles to bring my bicycles to them for service. Friendly, eager to help and quite reasonably priced for the quality of work done.

After getting a line of bikes (from Halls website) that I wanted to check out at the store, my trip to Halls was just what I needed. I was greeted by the previous owner (his son is running it now) and once I explained what I was looking for, he answered all my questions and provided me honest pros and cons to my biking needs. I really enjoyed the experience at Halls and will be doing more business there. Great service and attitude. ThanksPS, I walked out with a Trek Verve 3. Perfect for my old bones and short bike rides on the trails.

Aside from being spoken to, the service was very poor. Im from out of town and stopped in the shop to take a look at some road bikes. Today. 10:30 am. The young man with red hair and an injured right elbow asked if I needed help. I said yes, Im interested in a road bike. He pointed to a red Trek and then stated, and I quote, But you probably couldnt afford it. As an African American Female, I am appalled at the disrespect I received as a potential customer. I have posted on several African American social media platforms to stay away from this shop. If this is the type of employees you hire, you will not be needing our business.

A fellow rider was interested in purchasing a new bike came here to inquire about their bike selection. The customer service rep began to take down a trek but then stated “never mind, you won’t be able to afford it.” My friend is African American and a woman. We have not received an apology or any acknowledgement from this company regarding the incident. Without any recourse fro this I highly recommend that people of color and others not support a company with these values.

My wife and I really appreciated the one-on-one attention we received when we went to purchased bikes from Halls. We went to another store after Halls and stood around waiting for someone, and the service we eventually received wasnt near as good. We very quickly returned to Halls and purchased our bikes. We have since been back to get accessories and continue to be very happy with their service.

I loved the personal service and tips about riding (Im very new at this) as well as getting me sized to find the right bicycle for me. Mike and Greg (I think) were so very helpful and kind. I have already suggested to others that they check out Hall Bikes. Thank you!

We had been looking around for bikes for about a year now, and decided on a particular model just about a week ago. We went to our local bike retailer whom had about 6 bikes in stock, none of the one we were looking for, and was backordered until February of 2021. We contacted Trek Customer Support, and they put us in touch with Hall Bicycle Company.Contacted Hall Bicycle last Friday (31JUL) and Cameron and Austin were AMAZING. We purchased the bike and made arrangements to pick it up. I receives great individualized advice on what bike to purchase I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything. These are just good folks, passionate about bicycling, who want to share that passion with the community. This is a great local company who will have my family’s business for a long time.

A recently purchased Trek bike from out of town was making a clunking noise that needed to be addressed. Rather than make the drive west, I called Hall Bicycle speaking with Cameron. He told me to bring it down and theyd take a look. I spoke with Mike while Cameron and another bicycle mechanic diagnosed and repaired the bike. Hall Bicycle stood behind the Trek brand and provided service for my bike which saved me hours of travel time! I was very appreciative!

Excellent customer service, even during this virus situation we are in. Everyone wore masks and everyones safety was a priority. Representatives were very knowledgeable about all the intricacies of the bikes. They recommended a bike and it has been perfect for me. After the sale they explained their services and how to disassemble the rear tire, if needed. I felt very pleased when I left the store.

TL;DR-Upgrade to an AbsoluteBlack chainring, and have Hall install it for you, I had a phenomenal experience with them and this product!Two part review, as Id like to comment on the product as well as the service.A few weeks ago, I had a sudden urge to upgrade SOMETHING on my bike, to get it a little more specific do bikepacking. I had been reading about the AbsoluteBlack oval chainrings for a few months, and decided to give them a shot. I remembered seeing an Instagram or Facebook post about Hall being an authorized carrier, so I emailed them to get some more information. They responded very quickly, and with quite a bit of info and options for my Apex 1 set up. Even moreso, it was actually enjoyable interacting with them, and I didnt feel like I was talking to a salesman or someone whose job it was to specifically answer emails with links and facts; it was an actual conversation. After a few days, they let me know my chainring was in, and that I could drop my bike off in a couple days for installation.Now, normally, Im used to dropping a bike of for service or repair and getting it the next day or later, especially with the load that all LBSs are experiencing right now, but I got a call back that afternoon that my bike was ready for pick up. Wonderful! A week or so later, I dropped it off for a tune up, and same thing, done later that day. Maybe its not super common and they just happened to have a cancellation that day, but they under-promised and over-delivered, and I couldnt be happier with my experience. Great staff, fun to chat with them in person, if only briefly, in respect of social distancing.All right, now for the review of the chainring.There are tons of reviews out there by people much more qualified and knowledgeable than me on the physics and performance of an oval chainring, so what I give you will be anecdotal, but true. I originally had an x-sync 44t round chainring. Fine for most applications, but if youre doing gravel touring or bikepacking with 30 lbs of gear, it can and will wear on your knees, as experienced on a short 30 mile excursion I did, fully loaded (including water weight). After getting this upgraded chainring (which looks awesome, you were right Joe!), I have noticed a decrease in fatigue overall, have had no knee pain with a load on flats or spinning up gravel hills of eastern Iowa, and my heart rate zones are averaging almost a full zone lower on most rides. My first longer ride on it was the trail system up in Black Hawk county which, while mostly paved, has a decent amount of hilly terrain, and some nice single track near George Wyth Park. In total the ride was just short of 60 miles, and I honestly felt I could have done another 60 with ease.To anyone considering upgrading to an AbsoluteBlack oval chainring, I would personally recommend it for any application. Want to go longer on the flats and explore more of the trails oryor town? Get one. Prefer touring but are struggling with the load on hills, but dont want to spend $1200 on hyperlight backpacking gear? Save the money and get this chainring first. Find a sweet gravel route but are pushing 190bpm by the top? Oh yeah, youre going to love the AbsoluteBlack.

Customer service is terrible! They have a bike that we were very interested in buying. They were supposed to call us on April 24th and bring the bike to our home to try out. We didnt hear from them at all. We called again on April 27th to ask to see the bike. The man said he would call April 28th in the morning to bring the bike. He never called and never showed up. We told multiple friends what we were going through with Hall Bicycle and they said to never go through them, their customer service is terrible. Now we see why. We will be giving our business to someone else.

They had the best selection of bikes from casual riding to mountain biking with selections in everyones price range. We walked in right before close on accident and the gentlemen working stayed for an extra half an hour making sure we were taken care of properly. There is a reason this shop has been around for as long as it has, and that is because they, without a doubt, put the customer first. Oh, and my new bike is fricken awesome.

For the most part I have had a good experience . I bought a Trek FX in 2009 or so. I went in recently to have two bikes tuned up .I knew it would be a lot of money but when I got the total for the 2nd one, I looked at the bill . I did ask they they clean it up a bit, I didnt know that meant a $25 dollar wash. Jesus Christ . Seems a bit much. Other than that I plan on buying a bike from here again, hopefully soon.

I bought a bike a few days ago from Hall Bikes. They had to build it before I took it home. Before they called me to report that it was done, I called them to return the bike. (Due to a back injury, I have to get a recumbent bike.) Even though they told me there was a 30 day return policy, they tried to charge me $60. This seemed dishonest. Plus they said that they dont want my business again because I dont understand bikes and what it takes to put them together. So I pointed out that the bike had never left their store and they can sell it to another customer. They then reluctantly gave me a full refund. While they were nice when I was buying a bike, they got upset when I returned it. Not a good experience.

I would highly recommend Halls. They are always very helpful everytime we stop in.

I first decided to get into biking last year. Hall was not my first or last shop when looking around for a bike but it is where I decided to buy. I was looking for a bike that was durable & light and somethign I can use on the trails around CR and also for Tris. The things that made me decide on Hall was the quality of bikes they offered, the prices, the services offered with my purchase, and most importantly the staff.I was very impressed with the staff being able to inform me, a novice, about all of the features of my bike and what I could expect to get while I looked at moving up & down the Trek FX lineup. I ended up getting a Trek FX2 in a size that is perfect for my 66 frame.
