Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with their lack of communication and business organization. I called today because my bike has been there over a year for service. The point of my call was to find out what was taking so long. I purchased a Specialized Rockhopper last year and had issues with the cranks coming loose only a month after getting it. I took back into to Northtowne 6/2020 for service and have been waiting over a year to receive it back. I called today and spoke with Barry and he said he needed to speak with someone else to verify some information and hed be back - I was on hold for a total of 20 minutes very patiently and was told they need look into the situation and get back to me sometime next week. This is where it became clear that they havent started working on my bike and Ive been waiting for nothing. They put sales over service and have yet to give me a firm date on when I can get it back. How is this possible? Avoid this place at all costs, literally. Im all for supporting local, but it needs to be reciprocal. The true test will be how they rectify waiting a year to be pushed back to the end of the line. He literally said, Im sorry, the store is really busy. as if I wasnt a customer over the phone. I already waited a year and started that journey inside the store just like they did, so, whats the difference? The owner should put this service department under a FIFO type of situation because clearly its not working and no one is managing the situation. Dont waste your money and time dealing with this establishment because there is better places to spend it.

Fixed my sons bike super fast...and cheap. Great place.

Found a suitable pair of biking shorts (essentially underwear). They had several to choose from. But I received slow service upon checkout (two clerks, but both busy chatting with others, no one else buying). And then I didnt even receive a sack for my (underwear) purchase.

Whats hot these days are ebikes and these people have the selection and the knowledge to meet almost any needs. If you need a demo, this is the place.

They aren’t interested in simply selling you a bike and getting you out the door. Their service department is great to work with and always helpful. Not to mention their involvement in the cycling community is great.

It was pricy but worth every cent.I start riding and my mood begins to lift almost instantly. I’ve ridden every day I’ve owned it except this rainy Tuesday. It makes me happy.Many of the things I was anxious about have been solved by this bike. My first fear was falling over getting on and off the bike. The trike has three wheels so it is in very stable.It handles well, is comfortable to ride and corners like a breeze. I am very comfortable riding. It’s lots of fun. We were traveling on a bike vacation and staying in the area. We had an emergency bike repair we needed fixed and most places couldn’t fit us in as it was prime bike season time. I called first thing and they were able to fit us in despite having a ton of service requests backlogged. Ethan did the quick repair and he was AWESOME! He fit us in the schedule, made the repair within minutes and even made a few extra tweaks. He was great, this store is great! Wish we had a bike store in our area that had this level of service! The entire staff has been friendly and amazing during these extremely difficult times. They have handled their new protocols with grace and found ways to maintain their storied record of incredible service. My brother recently purchased his first road bike and a week later I upgraded my old road bike to a new gravel bike. Both experiences were fantastic. Graham was available for lengthy email and phone conversations along the way. As long as Im in CR, this will be my go to for cycling needs.

I’ve yet to buy a bike from them, but from the multiple visits I’ve made to the shop, I can confidently say that they provide great service and help! All of the staff is knowledgeable and eager to assist you in anything you ask. They accommodate for many things and help you seek solutions and fix any issues that you might have. I recently bought a new helmet at Northtowne and as always, I was very happy with the service and product!! It fits great, the clerk brought several out for me to try. I always have great service here.I did purchase a used Hollywood bike rack and when there for another reason, I asked the sales clerk if there was anyway to lower it to load and remove bike, wondered if I was using it correctly. He said that was no way to bring it lower for bike loading and removal. At the trailhead today a fellow biker told me, when they saw me struggling, that the whole rack leans forward for easy removal, upon removing the upright bar lock pin. This will be a huge help and I am a little surprised the clerk didnt mention this.No matter, its taken care of and I still love shopping at Northtowne!!

These guys are great!! I ask a lot of dumb questions...but they were very patient. They don’t tell you “what you want to hear” to make a sale. Definitely not pushy or short with you. They helped me find what I needed for my cycling option, fitted me, got me on the way!!!I don’t write many reviews (unless service was beyond miserable....) but I owe these folks this review! They were great!!!!!!

Came in a couple times looking for a bike and really wanted to settle for one, but the salesman did not seem interested enough to really try to sell or acknowledge my interest. As a new bike rider and telling him this, he did not give me any advice or knowledge about what/which bikes would be a good match for me. He couldve gotten a sale that day since I really liked the bike, instead I took my business elsewhere where the sales people were nicer and more communicative.

My daughter was looking for a new bike because she outgrew her old one. Mike was great to work with. He took his time helping her find the right fit for her height, reach, and the type of riding she will be doing. He really had a lot of experience in bikes and his knowledge really showed. We werent pressured to make a decision even after saying we wanted to sleep on it. My daughter loves her new bike and the price was right in line with what it should sell for if not a little less. I had the same experience last year with a new treadmill I purchased.

Went in to look at jackets and the salesperson wouldn’t leave me alone. Sometimes people just want to look and figure out what they want without having someone hovering over them. She basically chased me out the door. I was ready to spend 100+ dollars. Whoops.

Absolutely great to deal with. The staff knows me by name and even though I am a more recreational bicyclist, they still treat me with great respect and understand my needs. The customer service is excellent and you never feel as though you are in one of your typical elitist cycling stores. Not only one of the best bike shops around, it is one of the best stores around of ANY kind, period. Five stars all the way!

Rebuilding an old Le Tour. Found a used fork with an overly long stem and called the other bike store to verify the stem could be cut to correct length and threaded before purchasing. Yes. Showed up and was told, somewhat testily I can do it but dont want to. I definitely dont want someone working on my stuff that doesnt want to. But then, thats why I called before buying it. The correct response on the phone should have been no and then I wouldnt have wasted time and gotten upset. They were also a bit condescending toward me for actually rebuilding an old bike instead of buying a new one.Called Northtowne and was told Maybe, Ill try. If not, I can order a replacement for you. Im not at all unreasonable or impossible to please, so thats all I asked for in the first place. He tried, showed me the results and recommended a new one (which the other store never mentioned being available). I paid for it and it was ordered. While waiting, I selected the bike and size I wanted, because I AM buying a new bike. From Northtowne.

GREAT SERVICE DEPARTMENT. Stopped in an hour before closing last Saturday. I was having a issue with my 2 year old Cannondale Quick 4. Logan stopped what he was doing and started diagnosing the problem. The rear bearings were toast. He fixed it perfectly and only charged me $6.00 for the repair.

The customer service I received was unrivaled by anywhere else I have ever made a purchase. They take the time to ensure the best experience when purchasing a bike. I am super grateful for their advice and expertise.

Warmly greeted 30 minutes before closing. After describing my issue with my 1974 Schwinn, the salesman enthusiastically said bring it on in! He had it repaired before I had time to walk one lap around the showroom. Ive taken that dinosaur to a number of shops in different cities Ive lived and it is working as well as ever. Thank you!

Performance:This product is called a recumbent bike and is extremely sturdy but heavy. This can be both good and bad depending on what you are looking for in a bike. If you are looking for an easy, relaxing ride then this is the bike for you. Due to its three wheels, the bike has a solid base and makes it almost impossible to tip. The weight of the bike (somewhere around 400-500 lbs. including the rider) can make it hard to go get going from a stopped position and also poses some challenges going up hills. If you’re going to be riding through hills, just make sure the hill before it is big enough to get you up the next. The bike tops out around 17 mph and has 21 different gear settings- 7 on one handle and 3 on the other making it perfect for long and relaxing rides.Recommended Users:The ideal user is anyone who is not looking for speed and adventure but more leisurely rides. This bike is ideal for people who have or have had walking/balancing problems. Due to its three- wheeled base, it provides stability that ensures the rider the balance needed for an easy and a worry-free ride. The ideal consumer is anyone looking for long rides, plans on biking during the winter, or has problems with pain of the back/hips.Safety:For this bike to be used properly there are a few safety issues to consider. Do not try to take sharp turns at speeds greater than 9 mph. While biking shoes are not required, they are recommend due to the angle of the peddles in accordance with the rider. It is very easy for your feet to slip off of the peddles, so shoes that can lock-in might be a good idea. Due to its width, this bike is better for streets than sidewalks and as such should have lights and reflectors on the bike as well as on the rider.

Have bought several bikes for myself, my wife, children and grandchildren thru the years. Have always had great service at a very fair price. Saw where student review below where he wanted something for nothing, and wanted timely service for nothing. I appreciate fact that Northtowne is in business to support their product, and Im willing to pay the always fair price due them. If you read about the cry baby student below, take his comments with a grain of salt. Hope he grows up and learns that a business exists to serve, and owed a fair compensation for building, staffing, insurance, lights, etc. Northtowne in my opinion is best bike store in area, and others are competent, but not as good.

Love Northtowne! I lived in Kentucky for many years, and they were able to help me with gifts purchased for friends and family in the CR area.Always professional and bent over backwards to make sure I was taken care of.When I moved back into the area, they knew I loved my (older) bike and they listened to my bike concerns....my dark green Giant Kronos became a Pink flat bar road bike, that I commute on now. I call it the Pink Rocket!

Northtowne did a great job recabling and tuning our Trek tandem before RAGBRAI. It has always been difficult getting the right adjustment for our bike because of the long pull for the rear brake. It performed extremely well and the cost was much cheaper than what we normally pay in Phoenix.

Northtowne Cycling came recommended from a very pretentious and elitist cycling friend I have. They do have some very nice products available, I was looking at the mid range accessories and I was asked Is this for an actual bicycle or just some fixed gear for fun type bike? I saw some decent deals, but I would rather pay more and not be talked down to.8/10 chance I would not shop again.

Recently got a great deal on a road bike for my wife. Unfortunately, soon after buying the bike, some mechanical problems turned up. Northtownes shop manager spoke with me directly and ensured me that they would take care of everything. The next day they called and the bike was fixed free of charge. Great customer service!

The employees are quite friendly and do good work. Sometimes theyll just give me parts for free if theyre cheap parts anyway. But, as with any sales and service business, they do occasionally try to sell me things I dont really need.

Stopped in for the very first time and had a great experience. When the first few bikes were over budget they kindly gave me additional options. They also gave great service and were not pushy!

Salesperson I dealt with was very incompetent. Told him I was a new mountain biker. The bike I was looking at was apparently not rated for trails but he said it would be just fine. He never educated me about what a proper TRAIL bike should look like. As a result the bike I bought started to fall apart after a few rides as the components were not made for trails as I found out later, so i had to take a huge loss by selling it cheaper and buying a better bike at another shop that was able to give me proper recommendation. Also took the bike for tune up and they held it for 1.5 weeks and it wasn’t done until I called to inquire about it. I would not do with business with this shop again and I regret spending my hard earned money there. That’s unfortunate.

My new brakes are awesome! I talked to Mike and Ben and several ideas were thrown out to improve my weak-feeling TEKTRO discs (that turned out to be fine). One idea was to replace both calipers and discs $$$ to solve the problem, but no, the idea to use better cables to improve the mechanical feel was the right solution. I spent very little money, and my brakes are AWESOME!!! Thanks for showing me, once again, how little it takes to keep my bike running and bringing me joy each day. Coming my and having a serious brake conversation brought a solution that I was not planning for--thank you both!

2 bad experiences with Northtowne. First on my Felt Z5. I took it in to have a strange noise looked at. When I got the call it was ready they had tuned it up but didnt know what I was talking about when I asked about the noise. Then they told me it was a pedal causing the click. Within 20 feet of the first test ride the noise was still there. I took it to another shop and it turned out the rear hub was damaged and coming apart. Pretty big thing to miss. I decided to give them a second chance and stopped in to buy my wife a bike. The sales person acted as if he had more important things to be doing. After doing most of the shopping ourselves we settled on a bike. It had to be ordered and I was told we would have to wait a couple of weeks for an order to go in. Time passed. I called on the bike once and was told they would check on it and call me back. I received no call back so I stopped in. After looking at his computer the guy looked confused and said hed have to check into it and let me know. No call back. When I stopped a second time he told me it was on back order which I was never told. They have a nice shop and a friend I have that works there is a good sales person. Other than that all of my customer service experiences have been horrible. I would make the drive to IC to small shops that care before stepping foot back in Northtowne.

Little busy but outstanding service

Very helpful and knowledgeable about e-bikes. Worked with the owner, who on a busy Saturday did not make us feel rushed or pressured. Went on several test drives and using the Sena bluetooth helmets instructed me on how to use the bike while we rode.

People are friendly and very helpful. Walked in with a flat tire and within 10 minutes was headed out the door. GREAT place!!!!

I purchased my bicycle there two years ago. I work a couple blocks away, and when I have a breakdown they are conveniently located for me to drop my bike off in the morning and often they have it ready by the time I get off work:-)! The staff is very knowledgeable, and if they dont have something in stock they will gladly order it for you. Yes, they are pricier than online retailers but Id rather keep my money local than spend it somewhere else!!

Terrible customer service. There was a woman who walked in before me and 3 other men that walked in after us were served first. I overheard the conversation that one of the workers had with her and they asked if she was lost. They didnt even try to help her out or try to fit her to a bike. The worker spent almost no time with her and told her they couldnt help her. After seeing the interaction with the other customer I walked out even though I had cash in hand to buy a new bike. I couldnt imagine if they had treated my wife that way how i would have reacted. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND NORTHTOWNE TO ANYONE! If there was a choice for zero stars I would have chose that.
