Good prices but not that friendly. I went to pick up my bike when it was raining and the guy seemed annoyed that he would get wet helping me load it in. He said it wouldnt fit in my prius (I told him that I brought it there in the car) and he wanted to help me load it in but didnt want to get wet and he didnt think it would fit so I told him I would just do it myself. I got it loaded myself. For all other bike needs Ive gone to ride bikes and theyve been great, super helpful, friendly and cheap!
Great bike shop. Very knowledgeable and skilled with affordable prices and quick turnaround. If you’re a little patient and love bicycles, I would definitely recommend.
I needed a continental 5000 TL. They had it in stock and had the sealant I needed as well. Jeff, Jeff and Steve we’re extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The shop is full of some of the most beautiful examples of biking history. It is worth visiting the shop just to see their stuff. If you need knowledgeable people to help you with a bike problem, these are your guys.
Awesome MTB/Road bikes you can choose, plus the staff will help you to assist your preffered bike
This is a great example of what a bike shop should be! Very friendly and welcoming staff who are passionate and knowledgeable. They are genuine - would never sell you stuff you don’t need or take advantage of people who don’t know about bikes. Highly recommend!
I had a 1970s Boss restored here and I bought a new seat off the wall and was charged another $5 to install the seat. They did a great job but will milk you for every dime.
Always helpful. Always knowledgeable. Best shop in WA
Great guys, and very knowledgeable and affordable. Totally trust them with my only child - my Giant TCR 3 :)
The staff here was very professional and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond and really took the time to teach me more about my bike. I definitely recommend!
Went there for a flat repair & new chain on older Schwinn bike. Had to bring back for same tire flat. Later, the chain popped again & I wasnt bringing it back to same store. I got better service from different shop. Trek fixed an easily noted wobble in front chain sprocket. Plus it is a VERY grumpy staff. One time waiting they dissed a family that was in there buying a bike. Never dismiss a customer in front of another customer. This bike shop will do in a pinch.
Charleston Bicycle Company on Savannah Highway in West Ashley is a good source for all things bikes. I am always impressed with their selection and good values on everything that they have available and all of the services that they offer. They have been very consistent throughout the years and well worth a visit if you are in need of bicycle help.
Yesterday I dropped by Charleston Bicycle Company for a quick adjustment of my bike. When I pulled up I saw a sign that asked me to call a phone number so I could stay in the parking lot. Jeff the owner came out. He was wearing a mask, as was I. I thanked him for considering my safety. He in turn thanked me for respecting the safety of his shop staff. We discussed my bike and he took it back into the shop for a quick fix. It’s a super professional and efficient shop. Jeff is a smart and caring business owner. Check them out for all your bike needs!
Best bike store in the Lowcountry! Very knowledgeable staff and great prices.
I will not go back!First I have to acknowledge the fact their selection of bikes and parts is amazing... With that said, I have never been treated with so much blatant contempt. My business today was to ask for some guidance buying bike parts. After 15 minutes of trying to get basic information about the replacement parts I needed I had to leave empty handed because the person helping me only wanted to argue.
You guys really pulled through for me in a pinch. Great job fixing what I completely botched! My new hydraulic brakes are working great. Thanks again
Most excellent service - sure there arent many bikes available - but there is a pandemic going on you know....
The quality of the repair (pretty extensive: rear derailleur was broke, new chain) was great, it rides so smoothly now.Wait time and cost quotes were misleading: 2.5 wks instead of 2 and price jumped from $150 at the estimate to $198 at check out though scope of work stayed the same as discussed initially. When reading owners responses to low rated reviews, I was surprised how rude and even mocking they were. That is neither acceptable nor civil. Any customer has a right to express their experience with a business. Replies in a personal vendetta-like manner doesnt build a good rapport for the shops customer service.
If you are looking for a large selection of very high quality bikes, this is definitely the place to go. The knowledgeable staff can help you pick out just the perfect bike for you as they always take the time to properly access your needs. Be sure to ask for Jeff when you go in for exceptionally great service. Highly recommended😊
Dont waste your time!! Terrible customer service. The bike I wanted was coming in the next day. I called back and I was told that it was being put together. By the time I get there, they sold it to someone else. No decency or honor to let the other person know that the bike was on hold. And the fact that they didnt seem to care really helped. Avoid this place at all costs!!!
Good customer service...they fixed my tire..fast turnaround...would definitely recommend.
I went to this bike shop on the recommendation of a friend who said “they aren’t sales-y”, and I’m so glad I did. I worked with Jeff, who was quick to ask the right questions about what I wanted from a bike and what kind of riding I would be doing. Ended up buying a beautiful men’s bike that needed different handlebars and a women’s seat, and Jeff replaced those and shortened my cables with no extra charge. I also bought one of their bike racks that they were happy to install and make sure I knew how to fasten my bike securely. Can’t recommend these guys enough!
I recently purchased a Thule 4 bike rack. Excellent pricing and employees went above and beyond to get it setup for my vehicle. Best customer service in town. Highly recommend.
Fantastic service from knowledgeable people. On a long distance tour, I called in the morning, cycled out and had my electrics rewired to a top standard in couple of hours. If you know bikes this shop (& Jeff) will speak to you, if you dont know bikes you can trust these guys.
In SC on vacation and my wifes seat flew off while on the back of the car getting here. Charleston Bike shop not only had the parts I needed but put the seat I got from another store on the new seatpost without me even asking him to. Super friendly and helpful. They also have some amazing vintage steel frame road bikes for sale as well as every kind of bike you could ask for. Highly recommend!!!
I recently bought a new pair of cleats online that didnt come with the proper cleat plate hardware. Went in to buy the hardware at the shop, but they didnt sell it. Instead he took the time to go through his shop and find some old hardware that worked perfectly. He also gave it to me for free! Super nice people will be my go to bike shop from now on.
Took my grandson bike twice. First time 50.00 to put together okay. The kid fell a lot so he broke the brake housing. I was quoted a price because I asked for one to ensure I had enough to pay for it when I came back. Well I was expecting to pay 15 to 20 dollars according to the quote. One guy the owner said that was only an estimate and went ballistic. He even called my bike trash and said I dont have to pay he can sell it for scrap. Very nasty and rude I just let it go because I am a Christian and I know that God is a just God. He also said he have a short fuse and wasnt going to discuss it anymore. I am older and wiser he needs to know your customers are your business. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I was anticipating buying two bikes from them you lost 500 dollars for a mere 15 to 20 was it worth it. May God bless you and change you.
I bought a bike through Jeff at the shop them several months ago and have worked with him on adding accessories. Throughout the entire process he was good about finding me what I needed and making sure I didnt go overboard on items that I would never truly use. Made it feel like I was getting an education along with a good deal. Grateful to have some guidance as I am starting out in the hobby.
I have had the joy of working with Jeff and Brad on my bike. After getting into a pinch and needing some last minute help Brad worked with me to do everything to get my bike back on the trail.I have also spoken with Jeff at length about a long term goal for cycling and how to best build up my bikes. The amount of knowledge from each one of these young men is vast. I look forward to a lot more work with them. And with the store right on the green way its easy to drop by on my bike rides.
Excellent! Needed a speciality tool, they sold me the shops at a discount. Many thanks for helping me get my bike fixed.
We recently had an excellent experience with Charleston Bicyle Company. I bought my wife a bike here and then brought both our bikes here to be tuned up. They were professional and helpful throughout and helped us with our bike rack free of charge. We are especially grateful to Jeff who helped us. Would highly recommend them.
They are the most helpful shop in town. Very knowledgeable and friendly. They are willing to share what the know so that you can make an informed purchase. They do customer service right.
Don’t waste your time trying to fix or tune up your own bike, just take it to these guys. They are super fast, nice, and extremely affordable. It was very much worth my time to take my bike here and will plan to forever.
I live two hours away and drove in on a Saturday morning to purchase and get fitted for a new bike. The team (and yes, there was more than one person who helped me!) was spectacular. When I arrived, my bike was already up on the fitting stand and Mike (who I had spoken to several times on the phone and was outstanding at keeping me up to date on sizes, stock, availability, etc) was standing there, tools in hand, ready to get me sized. Once we took measurements off my old bike, Mike and the guys got me all set up on my new Cervelo, and turned me loose on the neighborhood roads behind the shop to test out my new bike. While I was getting settled in, Mike was riding alongside to show me around where I would be riding, and take additional looks at my fit from the perspective of riding alongside.I could not have asked for a better overall experience. Seriously. Ive travelled all over the place visiting local bike shops and some are great and some are just bad. This one is in the great category. Theyre friendly, knowledgeable, passionate about cycling, and most important, they *help* you. I would go back to them in a heartbeat.
I rarely write reviews because I rarely read reviews, but I felt it was necessary to thank these guys again for my bike. I went in for a new wheel because mine had been damaged in an accident. I ended up buying several more things to bring my bike back to it’s best condition. I never once feel like I was being sold a part, instead I was talked me through his suggestions and why he recommended it so that I could decide what I wanted done and what I didn’t (yes, there are more things that can be replaced but I chose the important things). I picked my bike up today and when I got home rode it around the block. It felt like a brand new bike! I thanked them profusely at the store but I just felt like I had to come post this to thank them again.
These guys are great. I got a trunk rack from them for my bike and one of the screws was stripped, brought it in and they were quick to help me.
Wanted $150 to assemble a bike out of the shipping box, and didnt even look at it. Generally acted like they didnt want the business. Shop downtown did it for half that price, and did a great job, using them for everything going forward....
Online inventory not accurate
Very helpful.
First time I went to have work done. Work was expensive compared to other local places. Took 4 days just to switch tires to tubeless. When I came to pick up bike I didnt notice until I got home that they put a tire on backwards. So I had to drive back drop the tire off. They wouldnt do it right there so i had to leave it and come back again. They all thought it was funny...I did not. No offer of compensation or even a apology. If you are into driving back and forth a lot wasting time and money this place is probably for you.
Go see Jeff! Had a great experience with him! Would highly recommend!
Every time I have been to this shop over the years they are available to help me and they always have. And they genuinely care about you. I suffered a bike accident and took my bike in a couple weeks later to have it fixed. I felt funny on it later that day on my commute to work. I called them and they actually came out to make sure me and the bike were ok. Bike was fine. Turned out i was just still dealing with a slight concussion. Very knowledge and caring people. Great place!
Always courteous – always helpful. Whether youre a first-time bike rider or an experienced race or color they have everything you need in the service to match.
Only a few $ more than Walmart or Target and you get a far better product sold by people who know how to service what they sell. Very glad we purchased our new bikes here.
I popped a tube a few hundred yards beyond the downtown store. With no wallet I was looking at a long walk home. These guys understood and trusted me to come back and pay later. They replaced my tube within 5 minutes and I was on my way. I wont use any other bike shop in town.
Flew in on the Memorial Day weekend and rented a road bike for me and a hybrid for the wife. First, it was hard to find a road bike to rent in the area but they hooked me up with a nice Orbea for a decent price. They went out of their way to make sure I had all the normal things (saddle bag, patch/tire levers CO2), and a good fit but because I also had it for 4 days, they loaned me a pump as well and made sure the bike were nicely secure on the rack before we left. They were very willing to adjust their schedule so I could drop off the bikes and still make my flight out. Overall, very professional and very accommodating. I would highly recommend them.
Very helpful and enthusiastic. Went there to look at some bikes ended up buying one and got fitted theyre very knowledgable for a small shop. Prices could be better.
Great selection of bikes and a very informative and helpful staff. I needed a new trail bike and found the perfect Orbea bike for me. I could not be happier.
I have chosen to remove my initial review of this company. I have decided to give the manager and his staff an opportunity to rectify the situation. I will update my review when my business with this company has concluded. I am currently unsatisfied, but I hope all involved, myself included, are able to resolve these issues. All I will say for now is that I am hoping for action and compromise, instead of excuses. This is an update with the business dealing with Charleston bicycle company. In November my wife and mother in law got me a Jamis Durango mountain bike for my birthday. After the headaches deal with the manager, and failure to educate the consumer about bikes and just wanted to make a over $650.00 sell. I can never tell my friends or the public to use this shop. The owner needs to more proactive before he has no consumers in his business. The bike now sits in the garage on a bike stand, due to Im afraid to take it out.
I had a serious problem trying to remove a broken pedal from an exercise bike. I brought the pedal still attached to its arm into the shop on a busy Saturday afternoon. I was almost immediately greeted and asked about my problem. The gentleman knew immediately what the problem was, educated me as to what I was doing wrong, and immediately loosened the pedal from its arm and did not charge me for his services. Excellent customer service! I will certainly return to this store.
Im not one to put a lot of faith in on line reviews--one will state that it was the best experience, the next will say it was the worst. I am compelled to post a very positive review of my experience with the Charleston Bicycle Company on Savannah Highway in Charleston, SC.I have a 3 year old Schwinn bicycle that I have done all of the adjustments and such myself. I have replaced the brake pads once and an inner tube on the front tire once. The bike developed a popping sound from the front end recently that I could not identify the source. After doing some on line research, I thought it might be a bearing on the wheel. I didnt think I had the knowledge or the skill to make this repair so I took the bike to CBC with fear that I would be overcharged for this and other repairs that I may not have needed. I was greeted by a very friendly employee, I believe it was Steve, who immediately looked at the bike and identified the problem as the bearings. He told me it would be about $25.00 to do the repair. He further suggested that I needed brake pads and a new front cable. I had already thought that I would need to replace these items myself and so I reluctantly told him to go ahead and make all of the repairs. He stated that it could be a couple of days before he could get to it, and I said that was fine.Well to my surprise, I received voicemail message from Steve that afternoon at 2:19 telling me the bike was ready. I was unable to go the the shop that day, but picked the bike up first thing the next morning. The total charge for all of the service was only $67.30: Repair of bearing; new brake pads front and back; new brake cables front and back; a new brake noodle; tightening of the crank, and other minor adjustments. I was very pleased with the price as I was originally expecting the cost to be around $50.00 for just the repair of the bearings alone. When I picked the bike up, an employee named Lake noticed the front tire was flat. He asked if it had been flat when I brought it in and I replied no. He immediately found that the inner tube had a leak next to the valve stem. He replaced the inner tube and further inspected the wheel. Upon completion of this repair, he refused to take payment, stating that it wasnt flat when I brought it in, so there was no charge. I was amazed as I could not think of any way this could have been caused by them and was willing to pay for the repair.Upon getting the bike home, I could not believe how much better the bike performed--I guess I hadnt been doing as good a job with adjustments as I thought!!!Because of this experience, I will always use the Charleston Bicycle Company for any repairs needed for this bike. I dont expect it will last much longer and will also make CBC my first stop when searching for a replacement. Thanks for a great customer experience.Joe
Attentive detail to service. Great staff who always go beyond what you ask of them.
They helped me find the perfect bicycle for my wife for Christmas. A Jamis taxi cruiser. She loves her bike. The repair shop is neat and tidy so you can expect good clean work for your bicycles maintenance. Dont buy a cheap Wal-Mart bike if you want it to last.
Good place helped me with what I needed. Good staff
Great stock, great staff, great service. Strongly recommended
Very good people, knowledgeable and involved. You can learn about biking events in the area right here.
I stopped in during my tour of the Atlantic Coast with a clicking bottom bracket. After $45 in labor they had fixed a few other issues but the clicking is still there, called to see if theyd adjust the labor but they said all they could do was take another look. Unfortunately Im on a deadline for Florida so I guess Ill just have to deal with the Click, click, click of every pedal stroke...
Horrible experience. Staff was not helpful at all. They also did not offer to help an old woman put a huge bike in her car. Never going back again.
Took my road bike in for a cleaning and to reset of the bottom bracket and crankset. Mechanic admits the chainring bolt was stripped in the crank arm, but he glued it in. Lo and behold, the same bolt snapped out on a ride, resulting in a snapped small ring. This shop refuses to fix what they caused, explaining in writing that because I didnt spend more money buying parts on their recommendation, whatever they caused is my fault. Via messaging, whoever is responding is insulting me and my bike and not taking professional action to resolve this, and they will not tell me who the owner is. I will never spend money at this shop again for any of my bikes. Note: one star is required for review, it wasnt earned.Update regarding owner response: Thank you for once again confirming your unprofessional and poor workmanship publicly and in private messages. Best wishes to such a thriving business that you cant even make good on your promise in writing to refund the tune-up charge, much less fix what your mechanic damaged. What comes around goes around, so hope all your customers realize that they too can be treated this badly if they disagree with your questionable recommendations designed only to boost sales in your small store.
Very fast service
Terrible customer service! I purchased a $1,000 bike here because I live close to the store and wanted to have the benefit of close service. When I called to voice my concerns to the manager he yelled at me and said I am frazzled. When I asked to speak with the owner I was told I am the owner! Jeff, the owner, was rude and short and did not listen to my grievances.GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Had a small issue with my bike that they fixed for free. Also just bought another bike from them for a gift for someone, and they were very helpful and friendly
Very helpful staff, happy to answer questions even though they didnt have what I needed. Would certainly go back.
Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. What else do you need?
Knowledgeable
Great shop great customer service.
Best bike store in Charleston South Carolina. I have bought bikes from both major stores in Charleston and lived in the area biking for several years. The guys at this store, manager Brian, and owners know bikes inside and out. Through the Lords will they helped me, a novice cyclist, complete my first triathlon a half Ironman. Great bikes, great service, truthful advice and guidance in all aspects of riding and training. I purchased my sons (favorite ever) bike from here, a completely different type (BMX) and their former prorider gave us top notch truthful information and an excellent choice with customization just for my little guy. Thanks again guys, see you soon!God blessJSR I MD
Everyone working here shows knowledge of bicycles. They helped change my tire out for free.
Very friendly
Quick and quality service with a friendly staff.
Well worth the trip to Charleston
