I had the most incredible time! I am so glad I carved some time out of my schedule to do this. The staff is so awesome. Allison and Molly were there for me every step of the way. First I chose a lovely vessel. I went with one that can be used as a planter after my candle is used up. Or if you prefer, you can bring back your vessel and they will refill the candle for a small price. You go to the wall of scents and pick one out. They all smell so nice. It’s hard to pick just one. They bring hot wax to you. where you pour and make your own candle on a lovely tray. Then mix it up with your scent and “voila” you have yourself a handmade Paddy Wax candle that you personally made. What a great personalized gift this could make for the holidays and Valentine’s Day. If I could give this Candle bar more than five stars I would!

This was such a great experience! My husband and I had a ball. We went to celebrate his birthday, and weve been telling EVERYONE about it. Its super fun, super simple, and in a really great location. With it being right next to the light rail, it makes it convenient to show up, make your candle, and go do something else. We came in from Columbia, SC...we would definitely do it again! Molly, was very helpful as well!

I went with a meetup group and it took 10 minutes to pour 3 liquids and that was it. I paid $42 for a 10 minute candle experience??? They also only had small vessels and I think they should have compensated us by letting us make 2 candles or offering a refund. The class was supposed to take 2 hours!I will not recommend this place.. I feel ripped off.

I have been here once before a couple years ago and it definitely was not the same experience this past weekend. Now there is a menu card that tells you how to do everything on your own and no one really tells you or helps you unless you wave them down and ask directly. Not knowing this I did a lot of waiting around. Seems someone should have at least given an introduction no matter how short so we would have at least known to get going. Overall very disappointed and I will not be back. It’s not really an “experience” anymore, more like a build a bear run by sulky teenagers.

Nice place to go for an hour and it smells wonderful inside. The experience was good but nothing to rave about. If you believe that this experience will be from melting the wax, selecting more then one scent, etc then you may want to select another company. The staff were friendly but unfortunately they provided misinformation on delivery of your candle if you are unable to pick it in person. I followed their directions and only received one candle after paying to ship two (2) and you can only contact them via email, which is disappointing when they are company that has your product. Not sure if that customer service method is good but needs work in this case.

The employees here were not very friendly or my expectations were too high. You only get a candle for your $$$ nothing else..no talking, no explanation of anything. You literally can be in and out in 15 minutes. Pick your scent, pick your vessel, read the steps and youre done. Come back in 3 hours for your candle or pay $12 to have it shipped to you. I was invited to celebrate a friends birthday but was really disappointed. It was obvious the workers are just there..

The only reason why this isn’t zero stars is because my first experience with Paddy Wax was amazing! We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday and all was pleasant, so I booked again for my sister’s birthday. I booked several weeks in advance, 4 spots total. The day of, I had an extra out of town guest to join our party and so I asked if we could pay for the extra spot. They advised they were full. Okay no problem, but we asked if they had an extra seat for someone to sit because my extra guest just had knee surgery so she couldn’t walk or stand for long periods of time. At first they said no and then one employee pulled a chair from the back behind the counter.Once we were seated an employee, I believe Lauren, comes up to our table and tells us the extra seat may be pulled from us if the “booked” guests come in for class. We say okay. The class starts about 15 minutes late. At that time, the class was not even half full and never did fill up. Our tables alone has 4 empty spots that remained empty for the duration of class. why couldn’t we have paid for an extra spot??? Was this like a power trip thing???Bad service and terrible overall experience!!!

Eh, I was kind of disappointed. I had a different experience at a candle bar in another city where I got to pick out three scents and combine them to create my own signature candle. So I came to Paddywax expecting it to be similar... However, the candle pouring class is a bit underwhelming for the price. Id rather just buy a candle rather than pay $40 to pick a single scent and pour it into a container. I wish they offered more options for creativity. Otherwise, a cute place and friendly/hospitable staff.

I really give a 4.5 stars. The environment and service was great. My only complaint is that I think the price per person should include complimentary shipping to each person. The candles take 3 hours to drive, but when the store is closing in 2 hours, it is quite inconvenient to have to return, and who wants to pay an additional $8 for shipping on top of the reasonably high per person price to attend the class. If they include the shipping of the candles home in a cute branded box, it would be perfect.

We booked this as a fun outing for my friend’s birthday as we are huge candle lovers and were looking forward to it for a couple months. When we got there we were so excited and thought it was such a cute place and great concept, until the moment we walked in and the staff was rude and unwelcoming. When we walked in, there were two employees behind the counter and they didn’t say anything, they just stared at us. When we booked the reservation it asked if we were celebrating anything special and wrote that it was our friend’s birthday and we came in with party hats on, yet no acknowledged that it was her birthday at all. After they checked us in and brought us to a table they started their lecture. The whole experience itself wasn’t fun or interactive. When we had to use a restroom, they had one right there with a sign but told us that it was only for employees and didn’t even apologize, telling us that our only option was to use a public restroom. It was winter so we had to put our coats back on and go out in the cold to go looking for the public bathroom and ended up missing part of the workshop because of that too. They charged us an 8$ corking fee and then they asked us if we would be needing cups in a way that made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. There were three of us and two of our moms who were late because they were parking. When our moms got there, they told them they could not participate in the candle making because they missed too much of the workshop, which is fine, except that they would not give a refund. We were told the only option was to rebook the workshop for another date, which was not really an option for us as they came from out of town. $80 is a significant amount of money to lose like that so we asked repeatedly why they couldn’t give us a refund and they couldn’t give us an answer, just that their policy was that they dont give refunds if youre late. I didnt remember reading anything like that and double checked - the website and emails that we got only said that you may be denied to participate if you’re late, nothing about no refunds. Eventually the employee we were talking to reluctantly agreed to give us a refund. Finally, we had made an appointment for 7:00 and they rushed through the whole thing and around 7:45 told us it was over everyone could leave and started hurriedly cleaning. We werent aware that they were closing at 8 and were finishing our drinks when they came over and told us right at 8:00 on the dot that they were closed. As soon as we left they locked up right behind us. It would make sense to start it a little earlier so the customers don’t feel rushed and kicked out at the end.If you are the owner of the business, you may want to know how your employees treated us and made us feel unwelcome. We will definitely not return and not recommend this place to anyone.

I scheduled this as a date night for my husband and I. We choose the class from 7-8. I arrived at 6:58pm and the class had already began. Yes, the email says to arrive early as the class starts promptly at 7pm. It wasn’t even 7pm and the class started. Half the class already picked out their scents. They rushed through the class and we were done by 7:30. They closed at 8pm so they rushed us so they could get out by 8. I didn’t feel this class was worth the $84. I would never do it again and I suggest you don’t either. They need to be more friendly and have been customer service rather than rushing you so they can leave early.

My wife was so excited to go here and make candles. I got her this as a birthday present. It smells fantastic when you enter. Unfortunately, that is the only nice thing I have to say about the experience. The employees here are very rude and have no clue about customer service. I had preordered a bottle of wine and was informed when I asked about it that they were out. The “class” is definitely not worth the price. You pick a scent and a vessel, put a sticker on the bottom, use a straw to stick a wick in the bottom of the vessel, measure out fragrance and wax on these terrible scales that you have to wind up (I’m pretty sure the only reason they have them is so that you have something extra to do), then you pour them into the vessel and come back in 3hrs. Pretty overpriced. If the service was better it would be a better experience, but next time I’ll just get her a candle from Bath and Body Works. It’ll be cheaper and less annoying.

I was so excited to come here. The class experience was average but I was super disappointed with our candles (especially for the price). During class all the scales were not working and they (staff) made jokes about how bad they were. Because of this the wax measurements were off but they assured us that it would not matter because they top off all candles. When I picked up 2 of the exact candle they clearly were not the same in terms of size. I called and the girl on the phone talked in circles and tried to tell me that the amount of wax didn’t matter and what matters is that they have the same amount of scent. No clue how it doesn’t matter in terms of burn time. She at one point said “well you can come in but we’d literally only add a drop of wax”. She also said that the candle with full wax was “wrong” and the one with less wax is “correct”. Because of this, I won’t be going back.**I would post pics to show the difference but itdoesn’t have this option.**editing my review as I did reach out after their reply and they provided a full refund with the hope that I will be back. Super impressed with this level of customer service and willing to give them a shot again!

While my friend and I planned a mini girls weekend in Charlotte, I found Paddywax as a activity for us to do. We both love candles and thought this would be an awesome thing to do. The initial pouring experience was fun, simple and quick. However, our overall experience was ruined by the aftermath.Per Paddywax website, you typically can pick your candles up 3 hours after pouring, the next business day, or have it shipped to you for $8 per candle. Considering their days/hours of operation it was understandable. Our pouring session was on a Saturday at 7pm. So we had plans to pick them up that Sunday afternoon. Unbeknownst to us Paddywax was closed the next day (Sunday) due to a holiday, and that still wasnt an issue for us. Since my friend and I reside in separate states, it was not optimal for us to drive back to NC to pick them up the following week, hence we chose delivery option.Fast forward, on the 8th of April we both received a call from Paddywax confirming we had 2 candles (we both purchased an additonal candle) and our mailing address. We were told that the candles were being prepared to ship. So, Great! 1 week had passed and neither my friend or I received our candles. We both called Paddywax and was told that theyve been having an issue with UPS picking up the orders. We were told that if the candles didnt ship on the 15 of April they would go out the next week of the 22nd. 3 weeks later my friend received her first candle on the 24th and her 2nd one on the 26th.As for me, Ive only received the 1st candle which was on the 27th. I called back to the store on the 30th to ask about my 2nd candle and was told that it was returned to the store because they only had the street name for my address. I reconfirmed my mailing address and was told it shouldve gone out if UPS came by. Well it hadnt. So its now May 9th, very well over a month and I havent received the candle that I paid $40.00 to pour and $8 to have shipped. I also emailed the manager requesting a refund if indeed the candle is still there. My career is Logisitics, so I find that blamming UPS for not picking up the candles is highly inexcusable at this point. First, as a customer you can always call the local terminal and request the ETA for the driver and reconfirm pickup is still on schedule. Especially if youre only open 2 business days of the week. Secondly, Paddywax is in a metropolitan city (Charlotte, NC), I am sure someone can be designated to drop these packages off at a local UPS location as an urgent matter. The boxes only weigh 2lbs. Thirdly, Paddywax is charging their customers a shipping/handling fee, therefore it should be their diligence to make sure candles are being shipped within a timely manner regardless if they do have to be dropped off.I was so excited to take my mom one day to try this place out, but this alone has outweighed my decision to reconsider. To the owner of the company, please take into high reconsideration of the shipping process for your business/customers. If youre not shipping in a timely manner, find another carrier or do not charge customers for shipping. Thank you.

We took a quick lap making sure to make eye contact just to be sure we weren’t invisible. We weren’t. They looked at us but still failed to acknowledge our presence. No nod, no hello, no nothing.
