Both myself and my family have visited (and bought) so many wonderful items from Ewa & her crew over the past two years. The hallmarks of a wonderful business—staff attentiveness/helpfulness and item quality/selection are abundant and the quality of fabrics are quite literally on par (or higher) than firms such as Restoration Hardware, Williams-Sonoma, & Design Within Reach.Keep in mind, the majority of brands available for purchase are typically strictly limited to the design trade, and are impossible to find elsewhere. Additionally, the access to such yardage & the correlated pricing is also impossible to find. Consider it a gift that one has access to such quality items and service—I’ve never encountered better.

Ordered my first assortment of Mystery Fabric, what fun! I got a very nice variety of high quality fabric which I can use for small and medium projects. I found this gem of a fabric store by pure chance. The quality of the material was exceptional and the woman who helped me was fantastic. I only wish I had her name to properly thank her. We werent the typical customer, but Modern Fabrics saved our Halloween by giving my 6-year-old the coolest piece of green fabric when he lost his cape and refused to accept payment! I usually don’t look forward to making phone calls having to do with placing orders. Modern Fabrics is the exception. Some of the best customer service I’ve ever received...not just when dealing with fabrics, but in general. Ewa is a pleasure to work with and offers a wealth of knowledge.I will use Modern Fabrics any time I can when picking fabrics for high end chairs and other projects. Great pricing, great products, and great info on their website (down to how scratchy a fabric may or may not be!)Then, add in the fact that you are helping reduce waste by purchasing designer fabrics that may have otherwise ended up in a landfill... I don’t know why you’d ever want to shop anywhere else!

We bought an antique dining room set but the chairs had to be reupholstered. We looked for unique midcentury fabrics in our area but didn’t find anything we liked, and then we came up on the Modern Fabrics website. Our order arrived within the week, and it looks even better than the pictures! We’ll definitely order again for any future upholstery projects.

I have been shopping at Modern Fabrics for a few years. Ive purchased material for upholstery and home decor as well as leather for art projects. The staff is always friendly, professional, and ready to help shoppers. They have so many great material options and tons of Mid Century prints that you will not find anywhere else. I frequently hear other shoppers say things like oh my gosh, theres more back here as the store winds around from room to room where materials are organized by type. This small business is a gem and we are lucky to have Modern Fabrics in Charlotte.

The staff and leather products are amazing! This is my go-to shop for my leather needs because I know she will always have something that I will want whether its what I need or its just too unique to pass up. AND, they have so many other fabrics that are so pretty and very unique. You could spend all day here and wont leave empty handed. When I look around my house, I see pillows, couches, window shades and insulated door covers made from enduringly beautiful designer upholstery from modern-fabrics.com.

I’m restoring some 60’s danish furniture, and wanted period-correct great quality fabric. I needed to find upholstery material for old dining room chairs I was recovering. Even though I used a different source, Ewa went out of her way to send me samples for the project. I appreciated the quick response from her and highly recommend Modern Fabrics.

Visited for the 1st time today and this place is awesome!!! I will definitely be back and highly recommend if you need high quality upholstery/home decor fabric. The staff are super nice and helpful with suggestions but also not intrusive. I cant believe I havent been sooner. The other reviewer is wrong in stating that they only had remnants. I saw a ton of yardage but the selection is staggering so it does require some patience. I could have spent 2-3 hours in this store.

First time I went there lots of fabrics to choose from reasonable prices! Most bolts 2 to 8 yds great for pillows and small jobs had a great sale that ended today!

Modern Fabrics has an amazing, ever-changing selection! I use them for client and personal work including clothing. Recently, I redid my two couches with Kravet ultrasuede for 75% off the cost listed by other fabric suppliers: Modern Fabric price = $960 vs $3,840 full retail. I couldn’t t have done what I wanted without them.More important, Ewa, Debbie and Denise are knowledgable, enthusiastic, and thoroughly delightful to work with. Selecting fabric - especially upholstery - can seem daunting to many, but they make it easy. They take the time to find examples of what you have in mind (color, pattern, usage) and can determine the yardage required based on the project - from pillows to curtains to upholstery, or, in my case, for my handmade holiday ornaments this year.In short, it’s my favorite place to find fabric - people, selection, price!
