The views are beautiful and the area very serene, but what really makes this location wonderful is the work they have put into making their whiskey. You can taste the expert craftsmanship, and youll be glad you made the decision to visit.

Bourbon Distillery on a mountain with amazing views. Farm to table. I am not a bourbon drinker but hubby is. We were greeted in the parking lot by the most gracious host, an adult black lab named Bootlegger. Such a good dog. He led us to the tasting room where hubby got his tasting choices. Hubby said they make great bourbon. The owners/host gave top service and answered many questions. We sat on the porch and enjoyed some relax time. Great experience and I highly recommend.

The bourbon is definitely good. Nice switch up from tasting wine and cider. The location is really nice as well. Had the premium tasting along with an old fashioned. Glad we stopped!

Great bourbon options with mixed drinks for those who dont want a straight tasting! Second time here in three months and definitely will return! We always buy a few bottles for us and friends. You order indoors and taste outdoors, but the have a nice tented area with heaters and outdoor firepits.

Visited on a wine tour. Nice change of pace and less pretentious. Staff knowledgeable. Well or tap water goes into limestone and is good for drinking and making bourbon. You have to wait for a specific time to do a bourbon flight but that is apparently an ABC rule. Cocktails and straight drinks readily available. Quality bourbon with rye. Beautiful oak. The have burgers from cattle raised on the bourbon grain mash. Burgers made to order and delicious. Walked down the hill for an informal tour of the distillery and barrel barn. The smell of the barrel barn is a delight. They have a horse barn and chickens too. The view from the tasting Lodge is beautiful and makes sipping bourbon an experience. They sell beef plate ribs which surprised me. Made them at home (7 hours low& slow) and were very juicy and tender. There is a llama farm on the road in.

Whiskey. Beef. Cocktails. Scenic views. Ragged Branch became our favorite Virginia Distillery by offering farm-to-bottle whiskey and farm-to-table beef with friendly service. Cattle are raised on site and cuts from New York Strip to Brisket are available in the gift shop fridge/freezer. Oh, and did I mention they feed their cattle the leftover mash (spent grain) from the distilling process?!? So make sure you pair their whiskey with the site-raised beef you picked up. For whiskey, I loved their Straight Rye and also recommend the Double Oaked Bourbon. From their cocktails, we highly recommend the “Seasonal Ragged Mule” - bourbon, ginger beer, & fresh watermelon basil juice.Ragged Branch has adopted safety measures during the COVID-19 outbreak to make customers feel safe while still offering tasting flights (in glencarin glasses).By the way, they occasionally have delivery runs to Northern Virginia, bringing whiskey and beef.

June 26, 2020 (Phase 2 VA)Come for the booze, stay for the views!Wow this place is beautiful. Most importantly, the bourbon is delightful. We came for a bottle and then noticed they had cocktails, so we stayed to have them—so so good. But then we went to go sit outside, and the scene is just stunning. A mountain overlook, with a pretty patio and some well-places rocking chairs... it’s a perfect slice of Virginia, and well worth the drive.

Beautiful venue, tasty beverages and a nice staff that comes with a cool black lab!! We stopped here as a must go to and were glad that we did. Even though it was a quick drink stop we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather with some great views (while sipping on a tasty creation). The building is very nice and welcoming inside and out. Well worth a visit. We will see you all again soon, thanks for a great experience Ragged Branch!!

My wife and I were on vacation and decided to stop by on our way from Charlottesville before headind out to some wineries. I am very glad we did. When we first drove up the sign reads bourbon and beef! My wife was looking worried at this point as she wasnt sure she would ever get me to leave. I did look at there selection of beef and could not figure out how to hold it then fly it home 4 days later. Superb marbling, maybe the best Ive seen and I am very particular about my beef. I am still very disappointed I could not get some. I did try there bourbons though and think they are off to a great start. There double oaked are very pleasant to the pallet especially for so young a bourbon. Both rye and wheat are smooth. I ended up with one each and look foward to future visits. I will definitely keep my eye on them and would highly recommend them.

My husband and I came on a weekday soon after they opened. They had friendly staff who were knowledgeable about their product. We enjoyed a cocktail outside on a beautiful summer day. The property is huge, with a ton of seating overlooking the mountains. they serve burgers everyday as well from their own cows in the farm and we will definitely be back back with our friends and family. My husband enjoyed it so much he purchased a bottle of wheat bottle!

Great whiskey, great atmosphere, great views, awesome bartenders...what more could you want? Oh...cocktails?!? Ok, yes—some really interesting whisky drinks, including a GREAT innovative whisky margarita (yup, no tequila), and a whisky mule, with the ever-trending ginger beer. Sit out back on the patio and just take in nature!

Set in a new Southern Mansion, make sure to visit near sunset. The views from this hilltop establishment are breathtaking. Enjoy a whiskey drink with some of their fine, distilled spirits as you watch the sun paint the mountains around you. And yes, for chilly evenings they have a fire pit.

Good bourbon, but venue lacks personality -- a standard upscale setting. Tons of people are crowded on the outdoor deck, because indoor seating is not allowed at this time due to COVID, and the tasting room is a house.

They weren’t open for tasting due to the COVID but they were open to sales. My first time there, and the people were great. I bought the Signature Bourbon that Won Silver in the World Sprits Competition. Really Good!

Excellent product and excellent drinks. You can choose a flight or have them mix up a drink for you. All mixers are housemade with thought. You wont find that too sweet drink here. Come before 3 for a fresh grilled burger. They also sell their own steaks and ground beef. Yum.

Distillery sits on beautifully kept grounds. We stopped by for lunch and drinks and were not disappointed. The burgers were flavorful and delicious and the mixed drinks were equally fantastic. Chris gave us an in-depth tour of the distillery and rickhouse. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and we look forward to coming back next time we are in Charlottesville.

Love this place! I had no idea these kinds of views were in this part of Crozet. The spirits were refined, the staff educated/helpful and the setting so beautiful and relaxing. They also had their own farm raised beef they raise on their mash that I took home to my dad!

OK if you go to CVille and want an amazing spot to watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail ... GO HERE!!! We got so lucky last night. We finished a winery tour and I had wanted to go to Ragged Branch just because of the Bourbon they distill. What I did not know is the tasting room sits atop a hill in what is effectively a new mansion looking to the west over the surrounding mountains. Oh yeah, and we got there right before sunset. Pictures cannot do this place justice. It was a rainy night so we stayed in by the fireplace, sipped our cocktails (excellent by the way) and watched the grey mist over the mountains. On sunny days, the bar tender told us, the sun sets right out the window over the mountains. In any event, a great place to take a date... aim for sunset. Simply amazing!

The bourbon is gooooood. Super impressed with their set up & quality of a farm to flask distillery. Excellent service, our bartender did a great job at educating us on the distillery. We took a bottle of double oaked signature to go & we can’t wait to share with our friends.

Heading up I64 my wife and I saw the sign for Ragged Branch and decided to check it out. The tasting room is on a beautiful hillside. Im not much of a whiskey drinker but they were pretty good. Josh mixed my wife up the weekly special and she loved it. The also sell fresh beef and have a food truck. The service was great.

April trip. We were on our father and son bonding trip from Queens NY and my son surprised me on our last day in Virginia with this side trip to the Ragged Branch Distillery. Very happy we did. The service was great and personnel were very friendly and informed about your products. Really loved the double oak burboun. Brought a bottle back home.

The only reason this is not a five star review is that we were not able to have some of the famous burgers (Health Inspector was late). Bourbon was great, service was excellent and the location was AMAZING. Great place for an afternoon drink.

We love this place. The bourbon is great and Chef Josh makes outstanding drinks of the week. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The view is breathtaking. A “must” visit!!!!!!

Sipping fine whiskey with a killer view. Couldn’t wait to get home to fire up the grill to cook an awesome steak raised from this farm/distillery. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Too uppity/pretentious for a “bourbon” distillery. Stood at the bar for 5 minutes without being acknowledged. There were only 7-8 other people at the bar which can seat 20 and have 30 around. Nice scenery though if you’re into that thing.

Truly great bourbon!! The Rye bourbon was our favorite. Beautiful facility with fantastic views!! Was there at 12 on Saturday in April, staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is THE hidden gem of Charlottesville! Bourbon is better than anything around (I go for the Rye) and the Whiskey Sour is unrivaled anywhere! Perfect all around experience with the farm, views, bourbon, and THE BEST HAMBURGER MEAT!

We made plans with some friends to celebrate the joint birthdays of two of the men in our group. They really enjoy bourbon so they were excited to learn about Ragged Branch. A couple of us have kids and we were very surprised to show up and discover a sign on the door no children under 12. I had been to the website multiple times and there is nothing on the site to forewarn you of this information. It was disappointing and beyond inconvenient to get all the way out there to be slapped in the face with this information. My child is well behaved. I dont drink bourbon so my only plan was to socialize and keep her entertained. I have a kid, trust me, I understand the kid-friendly versus the kid-free argument. But at least TELL PEOPLE they are excluded before they make group plans and drive all the way out to your establishment. We wound up spending our money at a nearby winery and they were happy to have us, obnoxious, disruptive children and all.

Two drink maximum, but to be honest, the quality of the drinks overcomes the maximum limit. Beautiful and serene views with a gas fireplace and briquettes.

Went to the tasting room and nobody seemed to want to help us there was a guy at the bar right inside the door look me in my face and never ask a question or welcomed us the two stars are for the young man who gave us a tour of the distillery
