Food - 5/5Value - 5/5Service - 4/5Atmosphere - 3/5Absolutely phenomenal value - we got the “Complete dinner for two” ($50) and it will last us for 3 days - 6 meals or so for a value of about $8/meal. Massive portions. I have been told by a friend that the food is authentically Afghan and I can say from my own experience that it is delicious. Nothing felt like it was neglected, even the rice was so well spiced and didn’t feel like an obligation. The service was a bit slow but it may be because the servers are new. If atmosphere isn’t important to you, this is a great casual place for anyone looking for something different from Western and Asian food.
This was my first time trying Afghan Kabob. We stopped by for a small bite for lunch, so I ordered vegetarian samosa. The host that greeted us was pleasant, atmosphere of the restaurant was very quiet, peaceful. The samosas were great, however I would like to go back to try some different dishes.The order was placed online for pickup, service was timely. The food was fresh, hot and well packaged. Taste and consistency of the samosa was different from what I have had previously however, I will definitely visit here again.
Great value. Got their “complete dinner for two” and took so much food home in the end. I can’t say I’m in love with the taste of all their food, but they’re definitely all pretty good. The service is a bit lacking but totally tolerable.
Ive been ordering from here for years and Ive always been satisfied with the food and the orders have always been correct. I dont know what has changed in the last few months or so, but the service and accuracy of my orders has gone down drastically. My last 3 online orders have all been missing at least one thing on my order. Luckily Uber eats is good about refunding, but its just a shame that a restaurant Ive considered great for so long has become so lacking.

We stopped in on a whim during our honeymoon. The decor is elegant and colourful. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the food... wow.We ordered the complete dinner for two and were happily surprised by the amount of food and array of flavours. It was so very good. Everything was fresh, well presented and the perfect temperature.We highly recommend stopping in.
Ordered food from GrubHub and it never came. Called restaurant to see if had gotten picked up and there was no answer and Voice mail. I do not recommend ordering delivery.
Amazing food. Tried the barbecue platter and gyro, both of them were amazing halal food items. Their sides are great too, especially the chickpeas.
Delicious! We got takeout and everything was delicious, even things I sometimes worry may not travel well, like samosas! Highly recommend the shrimp kabobs!
Amazing restaurant. Falafel wrap had an distinctive flavor, delicious and fresh. The eggplant yogurt dish is out of this world.

Very welcoming and cozy place with delicious food and tea. If you like tea at all, and even if youre a coffee person, try the black tea with cardamom its light and upliftingly flavorful. I had the chicken kabob with a side of spinach. This came with a delicious salad plate and was served with gently spiced rice and fresh Afghan nan bread. The chicken was colorful and full of flavor and the spinach side was a nice accompaniment that held true to its natural flavor and didnt try to compete with the flavor of the chicken. Service was friendly without being overbearing. The clientele was diverse and several different nationalities and languages added to the rich experience. Prices were reasonable and fit the quality and quantity of the fare. My entree with salad, side, rice and hot tea came to $15 and change - well worth it!
Service was great, quality not so much. They’re definitely cutting corners on quality. I hope they would use more quality and fresh ingredients or otherwise it will remain mediocre.
Food was delicious but the portion size of the food is half what it was a few months ago but the price is the same if not more. I felt ripped off. Not sure if I would come back because of the smaller portion. The platter used to come with two skewers of meat but now it actually comes with only part of one skewer. And if you get a combo, you get only a portion of a skewer of mean and another portion of a skewer of another meat. What a disappointment.

If you drive by Afghan Kabob Palace in Charlottesville, Virginia, youd probably think to yourself Nope. The building looks perfectly adequate, but not fancy. The location isnt far from anything, but its a little isolated. Its not random enough to be considered hole in the wall either, so they kind of fall into a realm of uncharted gastronomic territory. For those brave enough to enter, they will be rewarded with a journey halfway around the world without the need for a passport. I was so excited to eat that I forgot to photograph the food before digging in! The service was friendly; food was capital D delicious, and the environment was cute. A little warm, but cute! I, for one, feel special knowing there is an authentic, cultural journey for my tastebuds nearby here in central Virginia. But if I could make a case for all other culturally unique establishments out there, check them out because they are often delicious! Start at Afghan Kabob Palace and explore from there if you must!
I am just out of words on what to say. I have been living in the Charlottesville Area for almost years and I never came across this restaurant. I am glad I did few days back. I loved the food so much that I was full, the menu is filled with different dishes which makes it very hard to choose from and its so tempting, I specially drove 30 mins from Staunton just to eat here last night. The Staff was friendly and really took care of us like family. I am definitely going back thats for sure. While, I was there I had Chicken Chaplee Kabob. I have tried different types of chicken but this dish had a different taste and it was so gooooddd. I highly recommend this place.

A relaxing place to have a very tasty meal. The restaurant is well kept and has a cozy atmosphere. There is a lunch buffet or you can order ala carte. Either way will result with a plate of good food The staff is friendly and helpful if youre unfamiliar with the food dishes. The restaurant is easy to find and parking is plentiful. Again, a pleasant ambiance and good food -what more could you want.

Good Afghan food here. Staff were very nice and attentive, food came out quickly - the appetizer sampler was very good and definitely enough for two people. I have only been here once on a business meeting and would return to try something new. The placement/setting in the restaurant is interesting. Best take out delivery in town. Simply delicious, honestly priced, delivered quickly without any excess charges - so refreshing.
Food is good, aside from messing up the order to getting items we did not order to being harrased on my way out by one of the staff after he handed me the order for pickup asking did you call to order? did you pay? I thought those are things you do before people are walking out with food in hand. Its not the first time order is wrong, it would not be a big deal to me if these people were nicer or showed more care for customers.
My go to is the Kabuli palow, along with various appetizers that are too many to list! Go for the set meal, the dinner for two, which is a full meal from salads, to appetizers, to entrees, to sides, to Afghan bread, to dessert, and even hot tea! All for a great price considering how much food you receive. I’ve been coming here ever since they opened and they are my favorite place in town.

Family owned and run restaurant with great food and kind and attentive service. I love their lamb curry, dad loves the kabobs, and mom loves the veggies. Make sure to leave room for dessert or get some to go!

I wish I could give 0 rating. Went there to eat something and waited for long time without having a seat. Once seated, found that someone just came and got the seating! Very weird. Decided not to even eat due to lack of professionalism. Urging people not go there.

Very pricey for the small amount of food that we got. The lamb kabob was delicious but the kofta kebab had lamb mixed in with the beef and tasted off.
Always so impressed!! Left Charlottesville for a few years and then moved back and the quality is still the same - so so good. Make sure to try the Borani Badenjan.
The best Afghan cuisine you can find in Charlottesville. Their Chicken tandoori and naan is my favorite. Very friendly and helpful staff. Love the restaurant, amazing atmosphere to dine in. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

What a gem!! Amazing food and generous portions. The veggie samosas were the best Ive ever had, definitely get them. I expected it to be a tad pricey and it definitely wasnt. If I were from.the area Id eat here all the time. Excellent place, worth a try if you havent been.

This restaurant has the best food. It is one of my favorite restaurant in terms of food. But unfortunately the service there is not that good. When I entered the restaurant and ask if we can sit in one of the booth seats, the server said you can’t those are for four people and we were three. I understand if the restaurant is busy and they try to seat as much people as they can. But we stayed there and ate our food for almost an hour and there were only two people in the restaurant. I drive an hour long all the way from Richmond to eat here, but always get treated like this, I would really stop coming here.
They are awesome, we ordered a family style assortment of appetizers and entrees, for takeout, everything was delicious and still hot when we ate it at home.

The food was amazing! I loved the authentic feel of the restaurant. Beautiful presentation of the food. The only gripe I have is our server...not once did she ask if we wanted to order anything other than the water she provided. All of our food came out within minutes of each other...our appetizer, side salad, then main dish.

Came down UVA for graduation and had dinner here. The next day we returned for dinner again before heading back to Delaware and NYC. I’m not sure if Ill ever go back to Charlottesville but I do know Afghan Kabob would be the reason I visit! Their shrimp kabob and kechalow is to dieee for! Please open a brand in NY I beg of you guys!

Combo number 4. Absolutely delicious. Well packaged, large portion, and friendly staff. I got the butternut squash for my vegetable and its my favorite butternut squash Ive ever had.
I cannot put into words how I won’t be coming back to this place ever again. Front door employee extremely rude. I placed an order online and she disrespectfully told me to leave as my order wasn’t ready. I also made a special request for a different kind of beef which she stated she wouldn’t attend. Will be sticking to sticks kabob. My first and last time here.

This is a legit Afgan kebab place out there. I have been to many Afgan restaurants and this place is really good.For 15 dollars you get a lot of food. The location is convenient as well .Looking forward to coming back for more.Keep up the great work.

Ive been looking in the Charlottesville area for a place that has real shawarma/doner kebab/gyro. So I tried this place. I asked if they had a spit (a vertical roaster used to cook shawarma/doner kebab/gyro meat), but they didnt.I got a lamb kebab wrap. It was good. It came with fries. I would have gotten a gyro, but they said they didnt have a spit. So its not really a gyro. By definition, gyro meat comes from a vertical roaster that spins like a top, thats why its called gyro. If it doesnt come from that, its not a gyro. Its just meat.They also dont sell alcohol.

My husband and I ordered the Complete dinner for 2 and were very pleased with the variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts that came with the package. All absolutely delicious and fresh. The Qabuli Palow and the Firnee were my favorites of the evening. The lamb was so tender and the firnee (dessert) was perfect. I also liked how they ended the meal with hot tea. We will definitely come back!

Was excellent ! Yogurt sauce was perfect. I Recommend the sampler for the appetizer that way you get a little taste of everything! Also add a side of carrots and raisins ! I will be coming back every time I visit

Ordered more than 5 times from them via GrubHub. Can wholeheartedly recommend their food. It always arrives hot and tastes amazing.Personally, my favourite is the lunch chicken kebab wrap with fries. It isnt very expensive, and fills you up nicely.
I happened to visit the restaurant with a friend of mine and another female friend with her young girl. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all as there were only two tables being served. Normally in such condition I feel more comfortable but to my surprise I found the lady manager/server very unwelcoming and pretty rude as she tried to rush us for the food order even the young girl (who’s just 11years old) accompanying us felt the same way. The food was okay but very overpriced. The naans weren’t fresh at all and were cold too. Rice and kanobs seemed microwaved only and when we order tea to be served after the dinner, that was served right away. We were feeling too embarrassed to ask her for desserts even as she (manager lady)seemed so upset. Probably won’t come back here ever after.

Disappointed ordering from here as my food simply appeared warmed up,rice l, in microwave. I didnt want to dissappoint the manager lady as she was busy with other clients despite waiting. I also see some of the menus are overpriced compared to other Afghan restaurants I have been to. First and last visit here.

Ordered online and the food was delivered fresh and hot.Someone who is not a fan of eggplant, really enjoyed the Borani Badenjan.The Chicken Chaplee Kabob is a must try!Overall delicious food.The kebobs which comes with a side is served on a bed of rice which was filling and worth it.
