Pretty good diner. Nothing fancy, been around since 1950. Known for their burgers, and seems to be a favorite with the locals. My husband ordered one of their famed hamburgers, and he said it was delicious. I got the club, and it was very good, as well. I did have a problem with my iced tea. It tasted so strong like glue or chemicals; however, they graciously exchanged it for a coke instead. I noticed another customer, who arrived after us, complaining about the tea as well and had to change his drink also. Other than the tea, I would recommend it.

Great local place. Clean, friendly staff, great prices. Had double cheeseburger, is my 2nd favourite in Charlottesville after Riverside Lunch. The chips and gravy looked and smelled amazing too. The guy sitting next to me who clearly was a regular had it.Edit: Been back a couple more times. Love the fries & gravy.Pro tip: in my opinion ask for burgers well done as that gives them a slightly crispier more caramelized / Maillard reaction exterior which makes them better

Great food and atmosphere. The wait staff is extraordinary...very courteous and eager to insure that the customer has an enjoyable experience. I simple live the place. Best French fries in town especially if you ask to have them covered in gravy.

I ate lunch here yesterday and got the Friday special Hamburger Steak with Homemade Mac & Cheese and Mayonnaise & Tomato Salad. It was delicious & the waitress was great! I’ve been here before and always receive great service! If you’re in the area, stop here for a bite!

My family has been going to this restaurant since its inception. I cannot remember ever having a bad meal there. Burgers, hotdogs, chicken, and hamburger steak are just a few items that you will find here...Some of the BEST food in anywhere !!!

Probably the worst place Ive ever ate. The liver was soft and very raw tasting. The green beans tasted as if they were taken out of the can and heated in the microwave for 30 seconds. The mashed potatoes tasted like flour and water. The waitress was not not very nice. I was hoping the man who rang us up would ask how the food was. I would have told him cat food would have probably tasted better. $29 for $2 food. All these reviews saying it was good, I wonder what type of food they normally eat

I love their Chef salads and have always had a decent experience. I called in the other day for a chef salad and the lady on the phone was very rude. When my husband went to pick it up he said she was rude as well. Didn’t put the salad in a bag or anything. The staff there is very wushu washy. Never know what kind of mood they will be in. Luckily I like the food there.

The servers are the people who make this restaurant. The last two consecutive visits my food was prepared wrong missing items or overcooked. If it werent for the servers I had I wouldnt bother coming back. The cook needs to be better on the food. My double cheeseburger patties should be cooked the same. Both times I had one patty well done and one cooked to medium. Consistency keeps customers.

This is my go to breakfast joint for under 5 bucks before I tip that hard working cook. Great short order greasy spoon joint that been there since the 50s. Love the hometown vibe with the everyday people getting their grub on between whatever their day beholds for them. Great lil burger they have as well.

Good food @ great prices very filling.. Staff was nice. Only problem didnt c alot of hand washing between orders or @ ne time. Waiters were standing up eating like they were customers. While serving other customers.After they finished there meal food was disgarded still no hand washing. Saw a salad being fixed with no gloves. Tongs were used 4 the lettuce but when it came to the meat it was hands on still no gloves or handwashing before or after. Im sure its a great place cause it stays packed and lots of loyal people go there. Just dont get why there was no hand washing

Classic old school diner, complete with crinkle cut fries and griddle cooked everything. They dont pretend to be anything other than themselves. Friendly but not over eager. Cheap but not in a suspicious or disappointing way. Not going to impress the out-of-towners, but they probably dont want them there anyway. Get there early to catch some great people watching as the local tradesmen stop in for breakfast sandwiches. My stomach cant handle the endurance of being a regular, but its something I always look forward to and rarely regret.
