The PHILLY CHESSE STAKES ARE GOOD

Mr. Food Mart is your typical neighborhood corner store but on steroids. They offer basic grocery items like milk, bread, canned and dry goods, snacks, sodas, beer, etc... You can also find basic health and first aid items, very basic automotive items, tobacco products, etc... Of course they sell all the Virginia lottery tickets and a good variety of scratch-off lottery games as well. So far Ive described your average neighborhood corner store but Mr. Food Mart is so much more. You can pay your utility or cell phone bill here, you can cash a check or buy a money order. You can pick up a bag of ice or exchange the propane tank for your gas grill then pump your tire full of air. They also have a deli counter where you can purchase deli meats and cheeses by weight and have them sliced to your preference.Then theres the food. They have a full line of delicious cold and hot subs as well some pretty decent pizza by the slice or get the whole pie. There are no tables or chairs inside or out so its strictly takeout. To place your order just come on in or call ahead to have it ready when you get there. Hot dogs, hot sausage, bbq - you can get it here and its pretty darn good. They have a nice commercial pizza oven and they know how to use it. Honestly, their subs are pretty amazing. Try the Club or Fat Boy or or Italian subs. Personally, my favorite is the Philly Cheesesteak. Theres plenty of juicy and tender meat seasoned just right on a beautifully toasted roll. It really is outstanding. All their subs come ATW (all the way) with lettuce, tomato, mayo and oil & vinegar.The parking lot is mostly adequate but can get pretty crowded, fortunately there are nearby businesses with additional parking so its never really an issue. Be aware this is a neighborhood store so small groups of people do sometimes congregate in front of the store to hang out for a few minutes but its never a problem.

This spot has the best subs and are made rather fast!!

There’s subs are excellent but they start something an change an don’t put anything up during the summer there lunch subs included a soda which i thought was decent for the price but now it’s the same price with nothing included if i wanted to pay almost $8 for a sub i would just go to subway an have the whole lunch chips an drink included had they told me i could have left or had the decision

They make the best subs Ive had since the sub shop at Norfolk States student union in the late 80s and early 90s. This is truly another best kept secret in Chesapeake.

I just when to cash my check i this lady tells me that she cant cash it because she dont know the company i work. Excuses if you didnt want to cash it just say it like it is, so you have to know the company to cash a check why you dont go and google it and teach ypur self a little and that you dont need to know a company to cash a check. That is why it have numbers that identify where is from.

This place is a hidden gem in Chesapeake. They sell pizzas whole or by the slice and subs / Phillies too. They use quality meats that they slice upon order.Ive had the Philly (All the Way + Onions), the Fatboy Sub (pictured), and the pepperoni slices. All of them are great. The pizza is NY style. One slice at lunch will do you fine. The subs are loaded with meat and cheese.This place is legit. Doesnt look like much from the outside, but the food is fantastic.

They joke with customers but some of the customers dont want to joke with them and they say rude and offensive things

The food is good but they charge you anything we paid 25 dollars for two subs and 4 drinks they charge you what they want and dont give you a break down on your receipt.
