I’ve been coming to Challengers for years. I grew up down the street. And ever since I moved out of the neighborhood, they’re still working w/ me by putting comics to the side, & letting me pick them up to purchase when I am able to. Dal is the nicest guy! The selection of comics is superb! Highly recommend this place ^_^

Good set of comic books to select from. Separate room with comics for children. They also have merch and special editions of selected series. Personal was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed my time here.

My favorite shop in the country. Challengers has a wonderful and helpful staff lead by fantastic owners. The location is bright and spacious with a great selection of graphic novels, all well organized. Also, their recommendations section has been invaluable to me.Personally, I recommend taking the El and walking the short distance to avoid parking.

Really helpful staff. I tend to pre-order books alot and they are always so nice to help me out. They have a good Manga selection. Did wish they had more, but its understandable since people dont often buy it. Also love how well organized they are.

Friendly and knowledgeable, Challenger Comics is a great place to pick up your single issues, TPBs, back issues, action figures, pretty much anything comic culture.

Challenger is easily one of the best comic stores Ive ever been. Bright and welcoming and a simply massive selection. Also arranged in a more intuitive way by genre rather than by publisher like must shops do. A small thing but I really appreciated it.Theyve also got a dedicated section for kids books which is really refreshing to see. Made me wish I had kids to buy books for.

If youre into comics and nostalgic items I highly suggest giving this place a visit. Picked up a great graphic novel for my nine year old and an awesome Joker poster for myself. Unfortunately that has also been confiscated by my nine-year-old but cant say I blame him.

It would be nice for easy navigation if categorizing by comic companies/indies comics was utilized. Expansive variety, nonetheless

The guys that work there are nice. But they struggle with looking at you in the eye. I think they are more comfortable with comics than people.

I’ve visited the Bucktown Challengers Location twice over the years when I’ve visited Chicago and it’s a very cool shop with a lot of personality and an identity all its own. I hope to visit again so if you’re in Chicago pay Patrick & Dal a visit and ask them what they’re excited about. They just opened a second location in the River North area too so check into that one as well!

Great store. They have so the new releases you need to keep up and a decent collection of past issues if you needed to fill in any gaps in your reading. The past issues are a deal at only .99 each. I travel slot and its great to find small businesses keeping nerds entertained. Keep up the good work!

Came here for a comic book signing. It was crazy hot outside and the air conditioning was not working or not on...no reason was given but is was HOT! No public bathrooms. Selection was really good for adults and children. Would go again in any other season than summer.

Absolutely loved our first visit. The kids section has an activity table with a bin full of action figures. Since I didn’t know most of them, my toddler kept going up to the register to ask. Dal took took the time to identify each one including their super power, and whether they were “a good guy or a bad guy”.

I love this store! I went in to pick up something for fun maybe... and left with 6 graphic novels! Its such a well curated collection! And the nicest people too!

A comics store thats totally focused on comics (no board games or tangential stuff). They have a whole room for kids stuff, and often have artists showcasing their work (like a mini con table setup). Super close to the L stop.

A great display of comics with some of the best customer service youll get. All of their employees are very helpful, professional, and knowledgeable! This isnt a game store, so if you come expecting a mix, youll be mostly disappointed. They have started to stock magic cards and the like, but still center around comics.Well selected and sometimes esoteric selection of graphic novels as well. Organized and with far more than just the standard Marvel fare. Overall, best spot in the city for comics!

The best friendly, neighborhood comic book shop! Not only do they have a wide selection of titles in single issues and graphic novels, from well know favorites to talented locals artists/writers, they also have an amazing calendar of events. Conveniently located just steps from the northern Western blue line stop with an super helpful and knowledgeable staff.

A smallish comic shop with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. There is also a second room heard towards younger readers. They have a great variety.

Very chill place even tho its on a busy street, friendly employee was courteous and the shop was clean and well maintained. The comics were alphabetized which of course makes it easy to locate your favorite comics. Huge selection of back issues which are only 99¢; how can you go wrong? The entire middle section of the shop was filled with bookcases holding all of their graphic novels. Indie music playing on the background arm chairs for sitting and reading. Definitely will stop by again when in the area.

I love Challengers! They have pretty much anything DC/Marvel/Image Im looking for, plus a SOLID pull system where they not only hold the titles I want each week for a discount, they email me a week in advance so I know what is set aside for me AND they email me about special arrivals and titles I might be interested in based on what Ive bought in the past. If they dont have it, theyll find it for you. Their website is very well done and easy to navigate. They have all of the upcoming titles listed so you know whats coming out way ahead of time. They host events and invite artists/writers for signings and keep you up to date via Facebook. Its not just their business model that rocks, the store is owned by two genuinely awesome dudes and their team always makes me feel good when Im there. Challengers isnt just a good comic book shop, its a comic book experience that makes being a fan/customer easy and exciting. Much gratitude to them for helping me grow my love for comics.They also have toys and a whole room for (but not limited to) kids!

Great comic shop and tons of space. Doesnt suffer from what most comic shops suffer from like cramped space or just having too much stuff. Its well organized and clean. And it doesnt hurt that its right next to the Blue line Western stop. Definitely worth checking out if youre in the area.

Challengers Comics is pretty great. Ive stopped in here a few times to buy books. Owner is always super helpful -- very knowledgeable and willing to look things up when Ive got weird questions. Its a small shop in appearance but still manages to carry a whole bunch of stuff, and its well organized. If I liked closer, Id be visiting much more often.

Challengers Comics is always a awesome place to drop in the two owners are almost always there and love to talk shop with customers. Its cleaner and more organized than any other comic shop in Chicago and the customer service is second to none.

Just moved back to Chicago and this place was being built when I left. Well organized, great staff, not a lot of back issues, but every new issue you could want. Parking is a bit difficult, but if you know the area, there are spots. Will be my store going forward.

As a comics fan, this store is great to check out. However, the person working there was not very friendly nor approachable as he began to give me attitude. I am weary now about coming back to this place.

I was looking for a comic book for my young son. He is infatuated with the ABC’s right now and I told him that I was going to look for a comic book for him that also had ABC’s. I was in shock that the only and first comic book store that I tried had exactly what we were looking for. Challengers Comics is amazing and well organized. I love the fact that there is a section just for the kiddos with a wide array of books. Thank you Challengers comics!

Staff is very friendly, accommodating and quite knowledgeable of current and past trends in the industry. The store is laid out well for the regular and casual shopper alike. The main area as well as the adjacent room offer a number of comic-related items, including graphic panels of the buildings exterior artwork. They host a number of artist/writer signings and other special events.

Having worked in a comic book store before, I highly recommend Challengers. Its a comic book store for people who have a passion for comics. The staff is very nice and personable. Especially for someone like me who buys comics like its going out of style, I appreciate all of their recommendations and love discussing comics with them.I must say, besides comics, I do really enjoy talking about Transformers with guys their. I feel proud that I have an outlet for an interest that not many people know about besides they fact their machines that transformer. Which comon is totally awesome, and if you disagree with me, I will hunt you down... NO I dont mean that... well maybe, but only in my wildest fantasies.Any way, love the store. GREAT KIDS section!

They have a very clean and organized layout with a distinct design. Their staff are knowledgeable and friendly with anything comic or geek related. My only gripe is that retail price for comics is so high, and the bargain section only has the least desirable fair.

Ive been meaning to swing by Challengers for some while now, and boy am I glad that I did! Ive read a lot of my comics lately in digital form, but man theres something to be said about holding a physical copy in your hands. The guys over at Challengers are so easy to talk to, they seem to genuinely love what they do, and are very helpful. Pull list = Awesome!

Its more of a new issue centric store and the loss of their gallery is a loss to its uniqueness. The guys can be helpful at times. They tend to chill behind the counter and not really talk if your not a Wednesday regular

Went in there the other day for the first time. This had been 2+ years since my last comic store visit, so I was a bit out of the loop. These guys were great. No snarky attitude, just great recommendations. Very good selection and an awesome subscription program. Im going to sign up for it next time Im in.

Impossible to say enough good things about Challengers! Patrick and Dal have certainly made this into the premier comic shop in.. well... pretty much anywhere. Bright, clean, organized, and incredibly friendly. The staff is always wonderously helpful whether you are just browsing, are looking for that 1 specific book, or are looking to try something new. Take every stigma about comic shops you may have and throw them out the window... then do yourself a favor and stop in Challengers to poke around and maybe find a new graphic novel you never knew existed, but is just what you were looking for.
