Great little spot to grab coffee, lunch, or stay and get some work done. I came here last week to do some studying. The atmosphere is great for studying, nice and light inside, and the music wasnt too loud. I had a lavender London fog, which I highly recommend. The service was great! The internet connection was pretty slow, so hopefully that can be fixed. Overall good experience!
The atmosphere is very good for catching up with friends or getting work done. It’s not too loud or crowded. There are cubbies that are more private for getting serious work done and all the tables have outlets nearby.I appreciated that they had smoothies as well as coffee and tea because I don’t drink coffee. I ordered the ginger detox smoothie and it was pretty good, very gingery, but I like that, other people may not. My friend ordered a coffee and was unimpressed. She thought it was fine but wasn’t particularly great. Especially considering the really great coffee that is available in other spots on Clark.
Accidentally went in 15 minutes before closing, the barista was welcoming and nice. They serve Metropolis coffee. The coffee was good, the cafe was very cute and fun. Im looking forward to going back when its fully open. It looked like you can play board games at the tables.
This business is closed. Such an inconvenience to come all the way here. Update your online presence maybe!?
My friend and I went to visit TrueNorth lately today. We were sceptic from the very beginning. I ordered lavender latte and my friend ordered a regular one. I also got myself classic bagel, I’m not fan of bagel but this one was the best I’ve ever tried. Both lattes were amazing too. Highly recommend that place in Edgewater. The barista also was so nice and friendly. I wish we would find that place earlier.
Truenorth Cafe has become one of my favorite coffee shops the day I went. (1) high quality coffee ! AMAZING! I tried the Lavender Latte, the lavender add a special flower flavor to the coffee, but not too strong ; and the milk foaming was perfect. It was not too sweet and I love it (2) the ambience : a special combination of hippie, modern, industrial style in their decoration. The world map was the key element of their deco. The space is big so you don’t need to worry about the seats. (3) they have bagels and snacks, can stay all day here ! ( and even the printers !!! ). Therefore it won my 5 stars review . I loved this coffee! My roommate went here and told me about how good it was so I had to go try it. I like how there is a wide selection of cold brew flavor options, because I like my coffee black and with flavor sometimes. I definitely recommend the coconut cold brew! The barista was also very inviting! The only thing I did notice though was that the coffee was not always consistent in flavor, but good nevertheless!
Ooo that peach mint smoothie! I could taste fresh mint all morning. My dirty chai was also perfect.
Tasty and healthy smoothies. The kale banana is my fave. Bada bing bagel without ham is so delicious.
Sorry, I asked for a bagel with cream cheese.. I didnt mean to bother you at your place of work. The person working the counter is unpleasant.
This place was a surprise. When I would drive by it looked like a small place. When I finally got s chance to go in I was very surprised. This place is huge! Was very warm and inviting. Love the travel theme. Music they play is just the type of music I would like to hear. They serve Metropolis Coffee, which is always fantastic. Their menu options are great for everyone. Friendly and professional staff. I think I found my new indie go to coffee place!
Cute (hipster?) mid-high priced coffee shop with unique coffee and healthy options.
If your business is closed for the foreseeable future and you have a sign on your locked door stating so maybe you should update your Google page to not say open
My favorite study spot. this place has the perfect setup for my study needs. big tables, small tables, desks. the coffee is great, and from a roaster in the neighborhood. They usually have oat and almond milk and make some great specialty lattes. Possibly my favorite thing they have is a light table, so when i need a break from studying i can wok on some drawings.
I got a vanilla latte which met expectations. The baristas have been really friendly and helpful, I sometimes print with their network printer in shop.
Good coffee, good food, and friendly staff.
Unhappiest Barista Ever
I have never in my life been treated so poorly by a staff member. I left disrespected and it was uncalled for. Please do not support this business. There are plenty of other businesses in the area that you can support.
I love this place! It has a unique decor with a lot of travel themed items like globes and maps, and the menu is deceptively simple. As a vegetarian I was quite gratified by the superb choices and veggie wraps and salads you can get here. The service is cheerful, and if that werent enough, there is even a machine that can print stuff off your phone if you need to. Good coffee, good WiFi, what more could you want?
Sorry its leaving.
The Worst Expirience Ever as a Customer and as Doordash Driver!! The Blond Female That Works There As Barista, She Has The Meanest Look and Attitude! And Thats Probably because of Im from Middle-East! I ASKED HER A SIMPLE QUESTION WHILE SHE WAS SERVING A CLIENT Whose order were in process already, Instead of getting a simple Answer, She screamed and Yelled at me and didnt even gave me a cup holders and a straw!! THIS IS HOW PROFESSIONAL THEY ARE!! I TOLD MY CLIENT THAT I WAS DELIVERING THIS ORDER AND SHE WAS SHOCKED AS WELL!!! ATTENTION DEAR OWNER PLEASE HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THAT CHUBBY BLOND LADY!!!!!! When Grub Hub or Doordash workers are coming They Are Also Humans! But Not The Animals!!!!!
The working stations are awesome! Great for studying and focusing. They have a lot of seating and a printing station as well
The coffee is incredible! The food is incredible!! The staff is incredible!!!This is one of my new favorite spots in town!
A nice coffee shop, very friendly staff. Coffee is decent. They serve bullet proof coffee, which Ive wanted to try for a while- a recommended experience. I find the design to be a bit cold and atmosphere not very inviting.
I just tried this place for the first time since moving to the neighborhood and I already know this will be my go-to spot. Really friendly service, tons of seating, and lots of drink/sandwich/smoothie options. They even have a bulletproof coffee option which I’ve never seen anywhere else. Oh, and they have board games you can play! I’ll definitely be returning soon.
They make a Lavender Latte to die for - Good quirky company as well!
The coffee was not bad, but honestly I have to question why anyone would choose this location over some of the amazing coffee shops that are so close by and offer not only better coffee, but a much more pleasant experience and atmosphere. I dont think anyone would regret a visit, but I cant find any reason to recommend this shop over the many exceptional other choices in the area. Dont rule it out without giving it a chance, but if you only have one chance for coffee in this part of town, consider other options first.
Best coffee and healthy food in Andersonville. The overnight oats and lattes are amazing. The best place to study I have ever seen. And the staff is awesome! Love it!
TrueNorth is a great alternative in this area. I like the openness of the space but may need to make the space more cozy. Perhaps the spaces are too big. Other than that, great shop!
The best cafe I have been to in Chicago. Awesome coffee and food. Lots of space to do work. Beautiful interior. Love this place!
One of the best work spaces in the area. Really gorgeous, serene decor, and solid coffee and small-bites options. Lil pricey, but the staff is friendly, the wifi is consistent, and it seems to be a nice hub for both folks working alone and big groups at the back table.
Great wraps and smoothies and they source Metropolis Coffee! The products have always been fantastic and the staff is mostly wonderful. Beard guy could stand to be kind once in a while ;)
Awesome healthy food. So many great places to get work done! One of the best coffee shops in the area by far! Coffee is amazing too!
Awesome spot. One of the most well equipped spaces for doing remote work. Also the food and coffee were on point!
Smoothies were watery and somewhat disappointing. Iced Americano was weak...more like watered coffee than espresso. Service was great tho...Id give them another chance just for that reason.
I wanted to like this Andersonville coffee shop because its spacious, bright. But the latte was cold and lacked flavor, the BLT wrap small for $8.50. Not to mention it was about 55 degrees in the large back room. Staff was slow, not very attentive, disorganized.
Quiet place to get work done, and have a healthy bite. Metropolis house - coffee is very good, as is selection of teas. Bring your inside voice.
I love this place! The employees are always friendly and their food/drinks are amazing! Im there nearly everyday.
They turned off the heart break music when I chatted up the barista and told him I was going through a break up. Class. Also they have a sign that says Beyoncé wasn’t built in a day and I vibe with that.
Cardamom lavender latte is a great option. Friendly service, healthy food + drink options and a chill atmosphere.
They are the best cafe around hands down. Awesome food and the best coffee in Andersonville. I love this place!!
Cute coffee shop in Andersonville. They have board games you can play, the atmosphere is cozy and the food and beverages are very good
Semi cozy space. Wrap was expensive at $11 and flavorless
Fabulous! great lighting and atmosphere. clean and welcoming. lots of outlets and friendly staff.
If you like finding gross things like twist ties in your food, this place is for you. An absolutely disgusting and horrible moment of realizing that you’re chewing on a piece metal. Beside that, everything is massively over priced for what it is. Beware - this place is not worth it!!
True North offers fresh and healthy food, delicious smoothies. The coffee is from Metropolis and both the expresso drinks and drip coffee are high quality. Very nice ambiance too. Great place to check out in Andersonville!
They have always been really nice but the coffee is a bit hit or miss. They have a really nice space for a coffee shop but could be a lot better with their craft.
Love the unique fresh smoothie. Their coconut flavored cold brew is not to miss!
This is the best place in town. That’s Andersonville in a nutshell a small town in the middle of a big city. True North is as hyperlocal as it can get. Great lattes crafted by hand. Excellent food, service and the owner is vested in the community. He cares about Andersonville, facilitates political discourse with state and local candidate forums. My favorite coffee shop west of the Hudson and east of the Cascades.
Very nice space. Strong coffee too
Best iced vanilla latte Ive had in my life!
Great coffee and tea as well as munchies for breakfast.
The lavender Lindon fog tea was delish, but everything is a little snobby and waaaaay overpriced. Very adorable decor.
Just a fine place in the neighborhood.
Why is it colder inside than outside? Caucasians were wearing their coats, scarfs and hats! They told us they turned the heat up but no.
Attendants, rude, and they think they own the world, both of them they look at you like if you would be a monster, they give u an uggly look, and they laugh on your face, they behave as racist, they dont think that a dollar from white people and a dollar from a spanish people is the same..., and the prices are expensive, I pay the price but the service is horrible rude, very rude young attendants, the red hair girl and the guy tall red hair also, they both were rude, I felt like it was a burden to serve me a cup of coffee not corteous at all. Definetelly I wont go back, besides that a .99 cents cofee at McDonals is fresher real fresh and tasty than that coffee that is sitting for an hour. Americans are full of drinking fresh coffe. It is not fresh, it was sitting for more than an hour, that is not a fresh coffee, please learn from dunking donuts and Mc Donalds, they do serve real fresh coffee, thank you Mc Donalds for a great feesh coffee
True North has great coffee, good food, and study carrels! Bulletproof coffee is served here too!
Meh, their capuccinos are ok,
Great place really good food
Great atmosphere for studying and pretty solid coffee. However, Ive had major wi-fi issues there.
Quiet, great coffee, good snacks, including terrific donuts
Lots of seating. Great WiFi.
Says on the front door theyre open at 730 but no one is here. Sends the message that theyre not serious about staying in business.
Its a nice place.
Great and open setting. Sometimes a visiting knitting group can get really loud.
Great local coffee and sandwich spot
Great food, coffee, and friendly staff!!!
Good coffee and good board games
Great sandwiches and great place to work
Friendly service and good coffee
Its okay. Regular café space.
Great tea and very quaint
Not sure theyre trying to be but its a decent neighborhood spot.
