Its hard to find Ulta staff that care about their clients. Typically, you get brushed off. Here, the staff is so kind and they always want to make sure you are leaving with what you need. If not, they look online to see if they can help you locate it and have it shipped to your home. Store is very clean and tidy and very well stocked.
Just came into Ulta at Birdcage, and as usual, the worst customer service ever!!!No greeting, nobody asked me if I needed help, I have been coming here for years, and it seems like nothing ever changes,most of the employees seem annoyed at the very presence of customers.It is just horrible, I spent over 1,000 dollars here since November of last year 2020, and even when I have reward points, I have to ask if I can use them, the girl at the cash register did not seem to know how to use it, she gave me the amount that my item cost, instead of the proper change...I only come here, because I adore cosmetics and it is the only prestige cosmetic store in this area, or I would definitely go somewhere else.It is sad that a company that is customer based to this level, cannot provide the bare minimum of service, I guess Ulta just does not care about anything but the bottom dollar.and apparently cannot keep knowledgeable employees as well, never see the same workers for very long.
Best experience Ive ever had at a cosmetics store. Ariana, in particular, is fantastic (both patient and knowledgeable). Trying to find products for my uniquely difficult skin has always been frustrating, but my experience today makes me wonder why I waited so long to explore my options.
Store was busy, but was only greeted by the Security guard 😁. Walked around for quite awhile, trying to find what I needed. Had to search for a sales clerk. Had several things in my hand (including my cane) and was surprised the clerk didnt offer a shopping basket .
I miss how it used to be when you walked in and people greeted you and were appreciate of that you were there but I know a lot of things have changed over the last year and a half but Im hoping itll get back to the way it used to be

On a positive note, Ulta does have a fairly large selection of brands to choose from. Also the fine department store brands of makeup, hair products and perfumes are under one roof. You can get the best of the best here, as well as the everyday brands. Thats what I like best about Ulta.This isnt where you come if youre on a budget. I dont mind higher prices to get the really good stuff. I have become accustomed to getting helpful, expertise service from the fine department stores. You wont get any of that at Ulta. At least not at the citrus Heights store. When you go to a department store make a counter theres someone there to help you find the right shade and make sure that when you go home youre happy. I can go to Walmart and yet face foundation for $12. I can go to Sally beauty for about the same price, and if Im not happy with any purchase I make I can bring it back for full refund with basically no questions asked even if the product is almost gone and has been used. Im sitting in front of Ulta now wanting to buy a $37 face foundation, and even though the covid thing is somewhat behind us and they do have testers available theyre all sealed. When I asked about looking at some of the different shades of the foundation I wanted, the store associate said I could try one of the colors. One color might not be the right color, and he didnt sound like he was interested in helping me in the least bit. As a matter of fact, by the look on his face in the tone of his voice it seemed like I was annoying him to even ask. He didnt offer any kind of a policy like Sallys has that I could return it if I wasnt happy. So apparently Im supposed to just buy a $37 foundation and take a guess and if it doesnt fit for my color skin then Im out $37. When I went to the counter and paid for a lotion I got which is not what I came in for, I told the cashier that I was pretty unhappy cuz I really wanted to get them Tarte face foundation today, but theres nobody that really seemed like they wanted to help customers like they do at the department stores. I dont mind paying higher prices, but I expect a little bit of service to make sure Im getting the right product. Especially when theres no love it or return it policy like Sallys or none that anyone communicated with me about.Bottom line, if you want to get some nice makeup or fragrances and want excellent customer service or a little bit of help go to the department stores. Ulta beauty is not the place for getting service. Ulta beauty charges the same high prices but not the service.Im very disappointed leaving the store without the makeup I need. Ill then please sing like just out of high school, probably minimum wage employees that really could care less. The store is not busy and there was many employees that did not seem busy there was no line to be checked out, just knowing that really wanted to exert themselves other than saying hello and have a nice day.I do love my Tarte brand makeup. So I guess Ill try Sephora or the department stores. I probably wont be coming back to Ulta soon.Youll get a lot more for your money from the department stores including free gifts when you spend money there, including excellent customer service to help you find the right shades and products that you want to buy. None of that at the citrus Heights Ulta.

Ulta was okay, the lady who worked in the perfume department was really friendly and helpful. This store didnt seem to have a lot of TJX things that the store on Rocklin has, but at least the employees were really nice!
I LOVE 💕 this ULTA! (Citrus Heights CA). Every single time I either buy in store or go to pick up in store after buying online, the representatives are extremely professional kind courteous and very helpful with any questions I have. They are always smiling, being very careful about social distancing, and their personalities make it a great experience to come in and shop at the store. They are well-versed in the products they have in the store also.
I had to come here twice this week because Im getting married and normally I do not wear much makeup. So, naturally I needed some serious guidance. Both times I came in, I was helped right away. I am seriously impressed with these gals and their knowledge. They were very helpful in figuring out the perfect shades for me and they seemed happy to help. Thanks ladies!!!!!

I gave 4 stars for the store itself because there are times when its very hard to get help but I AM giving 5 stars to the employee Ariana (I think thats how her name is spelled). She was so helpful today and attentive. I needed multiple things from different sections and she walked me through each and told me what was best for my budget. She was knowledgeable and kind and it was so much appreciated!!!

Im went to Ulta yesterday for a few lipsticks and a primer. All the staff were talking among themselves ignoring customers coming in. When staff did notice us they were very rude. I have spent a lot of money at this store for me and my daughters. They will NO longer get my business ever again. Worst customer service EVER!!!!
I had gone to this location to purchase The Ordinary and few other items ( larger inventory). BUT !!!!, Unfortunately I was talked into 458.00 in product that wrecked my complexion overall, the purchasing scenario was the clincher. Hurried ( as they were closing 5 other customers behind me)when asked for my phone number I by accident transposed the last two digits,and the security(lol), boldly comes over is there a problem?. Horrible experience if your not decked out in Sundays best. May I say this - and add,the aftermath.The Ulta on Fulton ( no stars), the staff at least on front end very unprofessional. Whats worse the manager lied to me - since I had to return the products the other store talked me into.First she tells me they cant return the items( I had reciept) if 250.00 and over. Bull-lies!!! And to make a undignified shopping(?) non- experience worse..... they yes they posted up in non(?) chilante positions watching me,striking up less than conversation. So to remedy this defermation of ones character with grace,I purchased a few items and when I left their store called the best staff representing Ulta (Rancho Cordova).I re-campt the whole scenario - handled this unfortunate lack of professionalism and was able to return the products.Again I had the cc and reciept they were 2weeks after so what was the problem? The best part when I walked back in ( RC sent her email)So you got an override? Override my cats butt .....ok sales team, 10 stars times 10000 for Rancho Cordova ( crown for sales rep .that went out of her way,PROFESSIONAL!)3 ?4 stars for CH (?) I wish that I could give this store five stars. The store is basically your beauty and skin/hair care one-stop-shop. They have a wide and abundant selection of products, and the store is always clean and organized. However, cant ignore the miserable customer service. Its hit or miss really, but usually youre left on your own to navigate the mazes of products. Need help finding something? Good luck finding an associate to assist you. I was in the store for about an hour and was never approached nor did I manage to find an employee who was available. They were understaffed and it shows... in a bad way.The poor girl behind the counter was completely overwhelmed.

They seem to always be out of stock even when I come back in on shipment days. Every now and then their are workers that are friendly and helpful but most of them have bad attitudes and feel hostile. I come here for convenience but I try to avoid this place as long as I can. Also, I recommend not going to the salon in the back if you have black hair. They butchered my hair. I wanted a simple trim to get rid of split ends and ended up with 3 different lengths of hair. The first two sort of blended but the third layer was an obvious failure. I wanted one length. Not 3 uneven layers.
Curbside service. Peeped it from outside while waiting for my stuff - its just as I remembered in the Bay ... beautiful, clean, fab product placement. I will go in once this virus is under total control.

The girls who were working here yesterday were extremely rude . I needed help finding a new facial wash for hyperpigmentation and the girl goes to straight to the most expensive line . I asked here why she showed me this line instead of any of the other lines and she said “because it’s the best and you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to “ repeatedly. I wasn’t worried about the money, but she had no knowledge of the Line and it was $60 forThe face wash. She could’ve sold me with more knowledge of the product.
Salon is great. Luv getting my hair done at the Citrus Heights location. But in the store itself there is no help ever on the floor. There may be one or two doing makeup but they cant help you find anything if they are with a customer so your out of luck. They never ask if you would like to check your reward points. You have to being it up. When going in the store not made up they wont give you the time of day like your trash coming off the streets when Im sure my salary is much higher than what they make.If it wasnt for the salon I would never go in that store.
This place is horrible . I came to do an exchange for the same brand just different shades and the manager told me I couldn’t do it just b/c I had used the credit card sign up 20% off on that purchase and she didn’t want to apply it b/c of policy. This is the most stupid thing I’ve heard, I had my receipt I had everything they needed it to do it but they choose not to. I have been to places where I’ve done exchanges using the sale or discount that was going on during that time I purchase it and they still apply it to my exchange purchase making it an even exchange. Never going there! And I recommend you not too they don’t even care about pleasing and making the customer happy. They keep forgetting that we are the reason they are thriving sales and are open 🙄

I am a youth advocate.I have an incentive for the youth called a resident store and thought Id ask the store manager Stephanie about a donation program. She responded, no, we cant give any of our products to solicitors. I understand that ULTA may not give donations to anybody, but a better response could have been relayed? Unfortunately, we are not doing anymore donation programs, I would suggest contacting cooperate to be sure :)
I really love Ulta because I love makeup and they have lots of different brands which you can sample in store. However, during my last visit, at every turn and corner I was bombarded with salespeople suggesting that I look at one product or try another. I explained several times that I was just there to look around and buy one thing(that was $80) I could not look through the store in peace.

This place is hit or miss as far as the customer service goes. There are some girls there who are not friendly at all by not smiling and talk to eachother vs asking if I need help. The very last time I went 2 days ago there were friendly informative people. They were out of stock of all foundation in my color HOWEVER, the friendly blonde by the IT cosmetics and the cashier with green hair were SUPER helpful and advised I could order my color at the register and get free shipping.
Really nice and helpful staff, I dont know much about makeup and one lady really helped me figure out how to navigate the store.

I asked for help with a color match. That appearently was quite difficult. And the site of attitude was the topper. I left with just my perfume.
Hands down the best stylist and customer service Ive ever experienced. My daughter wanted her hair from blonde to blue and its breathtaking. The staff is knowledgeable and so skilled. Violet did her color and she is so fun and I cant say enough how talented she is. Renee is the manager and she is steller in professionalism and talent as well. She even did beach waves in my daughters hair. Hands down best salon experience in Sacramento.
It never ceases to amaze me how terrible the customer service is here. Im looking at foundation and 5 employees are trying on lip gloss right next to me, not one of them asks if I need help. 20 people in line, one cashier.. the 5 employees still trying on lip gloss. Im sure this place is only open because its a one stop shop. Customer service of any kind has never been a reason to come here.

I come to this location because its very close to my house . However, I never get treated walking in . I guess its not a big deal, but when they look at you and dont say anything they make it awkward. I wanted to get a match for foundation, but no one was able to help me . They need more staff .

The girls that work here are so rude. I really needed help finding something but they completely ignored me and when I finally got a hold of one she was really dismissive and rude and barley told me where the product was instead of taking me and showing me where the product was.
I love their sales and their products but I wish the manager would not make me feel like Im not good enough to shop at this store.
For some reason the employees who work here are absolutely rude and unprofessional. Either they hate working there or are just unhappy people either way they are not welcoming and are straight up rude! I needed help but there was no one around except this girl ar the register . I waited then another employee came out and so I asked her for help and she would not even make eye contact was picking up things for herself and was putting it to the side! She basically brushed me off and then took a break and left the store! Im sorry I was asking for help in a store you work at and get paid to help people! Anyway the staff are always rude at this location and need to be retained on customer service. They are frequently out of stuff and tell you to check back on Thursday cause thats when their shipment comes in.I came here 3 times this past week and everytime I came in ; there you had it another disgruntled employee. They never received new shipment of what I was looking for which was a total waste of time!I suggest trying the Rocklin store, they were a bit nicer there and willing to help!

Its a shame you cant leave a 0 star review. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. The second I walk into this store I am watched and followed, but never offered any assistance. This happens every time, regardless of what I am wearing. My mother and I share a rewards account and I was told (in an extremely rude tone) that the name on the account must match my id in order to use the points. No other location has treated me in such a manner. Dont bother with this place.

I called ulta to get a price check on a 3.4 ounce bottle of juicy couture perfume. The phone call ended up taken 14 minutes and 40 seconds to get a price check. And while I was waiting in the phone after 10 minutes a woman picked up the phone asking if I have been helped...... I politely told her yes I was waiting on a price check. 4 minutes later the original girl picked up the phone and gave me the price on a 2.4 oz bottle not a 3.4 as I asked. To say the least the girl who I talked to definetly needs training and listening skills. Also the perfume price ended up being $97.00 online it is $43.00

Honestly I hate how messy/unorganized this store is (I hate seeing makeup smeared everywhere and THINGS NOT BEING LABELED WITH PRICES) but otherwise the selection is pretty decent, they carry almost every NYX item I could want! But again things are very messy and dirty.
3/4 of the time they advertise a product on sale and your there the day the sale starts theyre out the product on sale, poor management & inventory control.
Its not very clean in here most of the time but they are working hard to make it look much better. The employees are usually really helpful but this is not my preferred ulta to go to.
If I could give negative stars I would. Lets begin from the beginning. Not once, was myself or my friend greeted as we walked in. As we were looking for what we had came for, I had to flag someone down to come and help. We needed a color match and well.... I guess you cant get one of those here! The color was so completely off and wrong it was hysterical. We ended up just going with our original same old foundation. Now when we were checking out they had one person at the counter with 10 people in line. After a few minutes the Associate Manager came over and was clearly annoyed that she had to help since she was supposed to be on a break. She was cold and not very friendly at all. The other girl at the counter didnt even tell me my total just stood there and talked with this associate manager that was helping my friend. The real thing that completely threw me off was the rude comments about the guy who had just walked in. ( I assume the store manager?) How the hell are you going to talk crap about a manager in front of customers?This was the 3rd and last time I will ever come to this location. I will stick to Sephora for sure. At least you get treated with respect and a smile. Oh and once I got back home, I realized I had points on my account that I could have used but was that brought to my attention?... Nope. and returns are ridiculous. Making people log into their actual ULTA account to get the information when you have the shipping slip and packaging? Very weird. Lets hope this location gets some much needed help on customer service and the biggest thing... KNOWLEDGE OF MAKEUP!
I called to ask if their sheamoisture was on sale and they said yes, it was buy one get one 40% off. I drive 20 minutes to the store and it turns out its not even on sale. This was my first time visiting an Ulta Beauty and its my last. They also dont price match with their own online store. Dumb.

Kay an older hispanic woman completely ruined my hair.I have curly hair. Curly hair is different that straight hair.It ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BE CUT THE SAME!I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE DID.she left one side longer than the other and the way she cut it completely separated all of my curls!!!To top it off she fluffed and styled my hair like a 70+ year old woman.She did not scrunch my hair once!!!!She had clearly never cut curly hair before.Kay had no knowledge of curly hair.She messed up my hair so bad even curly certified people are having a hard time figuring it out.In my opinion KAY should deffinitely be fired.She was helping the bleach blonde net to me with her client while she was cutting my hair.She also chopped off a huge 4 inch chuck from the left side that frames my face!!!KAY NEEDS DRUG TESTING!And i feel the manager needs to be drug tested too for keeping her on staff.Im beyond mortified.#toolongtogrowback

I went to the salon and had Christina (recommended by manager), do a root color, cut and style--SHE CHOPPED THE HELL OUT OF MY HAIR-COLORED IT THE WRONG COLOR-I MADE A COMMENT BUT DID NOT REALIZE HOW BAD IT WAS UNTIL I WENT TO A MORE EXPERIENCED STYLIST AND WE TOOK PICS OF THE BAD CUT SHE DID ON ME., I THEN CALLED AND WAS NOT OFFERED TO HAVE IT FIXED-SO HIRED SOME ONE ELSE TO HELP FIX IT..AND ULTA REFUSES TO MAKE ME WHOLE -I AM ALREADY OUT 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT I PAID THEM AND MY HAIR WILL NOT GROW BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS--WHAT A JOKE--WHATS WORSE-IS CORPORATE IS RUDE AND HAD I DONT CARE ATTITUDE!! ULTA IS A JOKE--I WILL DO ALL I CAN TO SLAM THEM AND WARN THE CONSUMER--THEY TAKE KIDS RIGHT OUTTA SCHOOL AND SAY HOW GREAT THEY ARE-NO STANDARDS, NO XTRRA TRAINING--STAY AWAY FROM ULTA IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!
