Stayed overnight in Chattanooga and had received many recommendations to try out this diner by area locals. I ordered the broiled scallops that came with a baked potato, green beans, and a salad! The portions are very reasonable and the food was delicious. The menu is quite varied offering everything from burgers, breakfast, seafood, stir fry and more. Decadent desserts are also available if you still can fit something after the generous portions they give you for dinner! πDefinitely enjoyed my first experience here and would recommend to anyone who wants to have yummy food and visit a diner that is literally open 24 hours a day.π
Stopped here for breakfast and it was really good! They were busy but service was still pretty fast and friendly. They have a huge menu so there will be no problem finding something that sounds good. Lastly They have a ton of different cakes for dessert. There are so many to choose from that it would take a long time to try them all.
The food at City Cafe Diner was EXCELLENT! We had omelettes and (shame on me) chocolate chip pancakes! The food was delicious! The pancakes were our dessert! The chocolate chips were served on a separate plate in cups along with other toppings. The chocolate pieces literally melted when I sprinkled them on top. It was so yummy! The aura of the restaurant was that of a true diner down to the decor and a jukebox. They had a bakery with cakes, pies & various desserts that looked very enticing. The staff were all very friendly and the chef did a fantastic job with the food. Reasonably priced for the large portion of food you get. Great find!
Huge menu variety ranging from breakfast, sandwiches, seafood and more. We liked dinner so much we came back the next day for breakfast.Fast service despite being totally packed. Very smooth operation.Staff was wonderful on both visits.Prices are decent. Location is convenient and free parking.Get some cake, too! They have all kinds!
Heard about this place from my daughter. So glad I went!! Menu is so huge, burgers, sandwiches, Greek, Italian, etc. Never seen such a wide variety like this. I got a gyro, which was great. Portion size was very large. You will not leave hungry! The fries were super good. You absolutely must get a piece of cake for dessert. They have a massive selection of cakes, pies, cheesecakes. We had the m and m cake, and it was gigantic and wonderful. It was really hard to finish one piece between two of us. You need to try City Cafe!Just went back today, tried the Cajun chicken pasta. It was wonderful! Split it with my wife and plenty of food. Tried milky was cake and it was awesome.
Finding breakfast for kids with food allergies, vegetarian on top of that - chose to come to this place so that we could literally order a schmorgasboard of sides that my dairy/egg/nut allergic vegetarian kid could eat for breakfast. For him, we got a bagel (no cream cheese), tater tots, pita bread, guacamole, fruit salad all of which he thoroughly enjoyed. I got a fried egg with rye toast - they got it perfect, canβt complain at all.For my older one we got a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake which he completely devoured. My husband ordered these highly praised French toast which was NOT GOOD. It turned out hard and you could barely enjoy a single bite. But everything else was so good we didnβt really care about the French toast.4 stars only because there were no sanitizer dispensers readily available. I was a little shy to even ask. It was a bit too crowded in the restaurant. I can understand why though because it is very very popular looks like. It would be great if they somehow got outdoor seating added. I was literally obsessed with the cake rotation display. Great food great service with something for everyone. Lots of options.
SOOO, SOOO GOOD! Our meal was delicious and our server was so sweet. The meals were huge, so you definitely get what you pay for and then some. Would certainly stop in again. Each of the large plates were about 14 to give you an idea of portion. We had the Hot Mess Panini, the Double Cheese Burger, Kids Mickey Mouse Pancake, and Texas Cheese Fries with Bacon. What a meal! Were stuffed!
Restaurant prices are insane, but this is a great place to eat. The service and food are excellent. Id love to eat a piece of one of their cakes, but Id probably gain two pounds.
Visiting from Chicago and was recommend this spot by family, Food was ok (had the biscuits with sausage gravy, home fries and turkey bacon) service could be better. They are supposed to be famous for their cakes & pies, they all looked delicious, hope they live up to the appearance. They also seemed over priced for typical dinner food.
Amazing diner experience. Outstanding wait staff - friendly, attentive and professional. Food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. Everything was delicious. I HIGHLY recommend the City Cafe Diner. It is one of the best places to eat breakfast anywhere. And I didnt even try one of their amazing desserts for which they are famous!
I went there after a show last night and I was sooo disappointed. Breakfast food was served cold. I took dad with me and he told me the condition of the mens restroom made him not even want to eat there. But we had already ordered. Then comes out the burnt but tepid potatoes bacon and eggs. It took me about 10 minutes to get a manager to even come and speak to us and she was very sweet and I felt bad for complaining she took one of the orders off of our ticket and I ate anyways. 3 hours after eating I was extremely sick. Vomiting headache classic signs of food poisoning. I wouldnt recommend the post pandemic city cafe. Too much restaurant and too little staff to handle the load some of the very important cleaning and steps seem to be getting skipped and this makes for an unsafe food environment.
This is a New Jersey style 24 hour diner. The menu shows lots of choices, Greek, Italian, American and much more! I had a Chattanoogan, a ham and cheese panini with fries. Servings are huge and the food is hearty and delicious. But WAIT - They have a Bakery! The cake and dessert choices are many and look so yummy. I enjoyed a big slice of strawberry cake with a fine cup of coffee! Our server was one of the best servers Iβve ever had!!! Canβt wait to go back!
The menu is HUGE! Took us a while to decide because it all sounded good! Gyro comes highly recommended. All we ordered was delicious! The cakes in the display case up front looked so tempting, but we were too full to try anything! Will be back if we are ever in the area again
City Cafe is the perfect place to go with your family and friends. The menu has something for everyone. Everything is delicious. Service was excellent.
Where do I even start with this place. Think everything comes down to the fact that thereβs no one else open 24/7. The employees could care less about the customers here. Completely indifferent and apathetic. You get looks if you ask them a question such as βhow much longer for my food, itβs been 50 minutes and you told me it would take 20 minutes when I orderedβIβm not sure whatβs worse, the food or the service.
Great service, large portions, good prices.Do Not Use The Bathroom. Disgusting.Makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like.
Great service and team work from the waitresses. We needed an outlet to plug in our laptops for the meeting, the lady was really helpful and sweet. She sat us at a table for coffee until one with a plug came open.I was put off when I went to pay and told the girl I wanted to add a piece of the Coka Cola cake if they had it (while telling her how good it is and that I had a piece before). Her response was she didnt know if they had it and if they did it would be in the case. I looked over her rudeness and told her I would like to add a piece. She asked who my server was and said she was supposed to get it. Next, she said she could get it but I would have to wait until she cashed out everyone behind me (a line had now formed due to the guy in front of me having problems with his card). What she SHOULD have said was, I hate this job, Im out. She has horrible service, is not pleasant to the guests, and is better suited for being a bus girl or anything else that doesnt require human interaction.
Used to be one of my favorite places to get a solid meal. Prices were decent, portions were huge, taste was always on point. Lately, it seems that they have cut back considerably on portion size and their prices seen to have increased. Pay more for less is not what I call a way to keep a customer coming back for more. The last I was there they had a limited inventory of cakes, which was a bit of a bummer, but not a big deal. When we left and got on line to pay, I noticed the cake display was really nasty, as if it hadnt been cleaned in a while. Makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. The Bonnie Oaks location seems to be much cleaner. I havent been there recently though to see if they too have cut back on portions or increased their prices.
Good food and fast service. I had the four bridge panni and my husband a BBQ burger and we both got home fries. It was all delicious! The variety of cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and dessert is amazing. I got the chocolate suicide cake and he got the strawberry cheesecake. The slices are huge and oh so good!!
For context I went here at midnight. The wait was incredibly long for menus and food. They were short staffed so that was understandable. However, it seemed pretty overpriced for the amount and quality of the food.
Neat little joint with typical diner style fare. I got the potato pancakes, they were super dense and kinda greasy. Husband got banana pancakes, said they were good but too sweet to finish. Still worth a stop in just to marvel at the impressive dessert case.
My good friend Tony said his catfish was VERY BIG & tasted FRESH outta the water & Id been VERY IMPRESSED w/getting ahold of an AWESOME spinach salad π
Loved this cool cafe especially the oldies music. Food was good. Took home 3 cake slices to share. Coconut was nice but not much coconut.
Incredible! HUGE portions, great homemade food, staff is efficient and friendly, the manager was friendly, helpful, funny and jumps right in to help his staff! Cant say enough good about this awesome place.
Pros, the food was very good (I had the French toast), the wait staff was very attentive and friendly, and the price was not terrible. The cons, no place indoors to wait for a table and ended up waiting outside in the rain for thirty minutes for a table. Really about a 3.75 stars, but I am feeling generous.
Great breakfast with large portions of food. Will return here next time were in the area.
Our first time there was great!! We liked the wide ranging repertoire of menu items, including numerous dessert items. Its cool that the place is open 24 hours,/7days.The only concern is the parking. It appears that the perceived available parking at the hotel isnt so. I hope restaurant patrons dont get their vehicle booted, or towed.
Great ribs! Love their dry rub, and we bought some to bring home. All the sides were delicious as well. Definitely will come back next time were in town. Meanwhile, how about a location. In Florida? π
The food was amazing as always and our server was the best. I cant even describe the desserts you really have to go see them to believe how good they are. The only thing I dont like about the downtown location is the parking lot. Its very cramped but its still worth the trip. I live in Lafayette, Ga. and my partner asked me where I wanted to go for my Birthday dinner and I chose City Cafe because its always on point.
Always enjoy eating here. The menu is huge and everything is available. The food and desserts are delicious. Fast and friendly. Always with a smile. I always recommend them to anyone.
It was pretty good. The cake selection was top notch.
To be honest Iβm truly perplexed that so many people gave this business so many five stars. No complaints with the staff or management they were very nice and seemed like hard working people. However, Iβve had chow hall food that tasted better then what we had. Good luck hope everyone else has a better experience then we had.
This little diner was great. They were packed wall to wall for breakfast but we still got a table relatively quickly. The portions were great. My hash wasnt quite crisped which is a big deal to me but Ive worked in a lot of restaurants and I could taste how rushed the food was made. Other than needing a few more hands on the grill I have no complaints.
Great service and great food! The price may seem a bit high; but you get so much food; that you will not leave hungry! Oh; and all the cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and desserts to choose from...Good luck choosing just one.(We couldnt and chose 2π)First breakfast, then dinner, finish with dessert.Open 24 hours!
It was good never got anything bad nice waitress good food not like the last time I was in there last year I placed a order to go went in bathroom all of a sudden a girl runs in saying get out and I thought I know she anit talking to me and yes she was telling me to get out so when I came out it was a waitress and she was telling me to get out of restaurant and their was a man and another waitress I said what is going on then she has her cell phone with police on it and was saying hear her she is going crazy so I started toward front door she said your going out side door so all that took place while I was waiting on my order I know cops go there and eat all the time but it was like a set up thank God I had enough control that day because they could have been left without a waitress but I did not wont to go to jail lets hope the waitress is still not working if she went that far to do that in front of all the people that was eating what else was she doing on company time I could have pushed the matter but no I let the Lord handle it but I will go back as long as long as long as staff is not falsely attacking
First time in the areaThe Service is excellentGood food and price
This is got to be one of the best places to eat in Chattanooga. The food is delicious and the menu is never ending. Its crowded but who cares. The deserts are from another galaxy. The servers never write the orders down and get it right. Thanks City Cafe!
This place knows good food. It would take several trips here to conquer the menu. Its so much to choose from. Great place to eat..food was absolutely delicious
Had a really enjoyable dinner here tonight and was promptly seated and given service by a kind server.I ordered the chicken fajitas which turned out to be quite decent, and a more than generous portion, too.The atmosphere at City CafΓ© is very relaxed, and welcoming, and though I have had take away desserts from here more than once I havent taken the time to eat in before tonight.Based upon my visit I will definitely return!
Went one time and they had us hooked. There is a wait time, but it is definitely worth it. Breakfast was awesome. So was lunch service as well. The staff were great and attentive to our needs. BIG portions and plates of food. And the cheesecake is a must for every diner.
A hometown favoriteπ I always get the Philly cheesesteak or fajitas, but you can bet anything you try is going to be delicious! Will be ordering the strawberry cheesecake cake and some cannolis (also my favorites) for my baby shower because I know City Cafe will take great care in making them look amazing and taste delicious!πππππ five kisses for City Cafe!
Great, there was breakfast lunch and dinner. Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Food was fantastic. Slightly slow if your dining in. Overall LOVED IT.
Good food and lots of it! Huge menu! Also has a little bar in back that features entertainment and allows smoking. Bathrooms could be much cleaner.
Me and my husband drove a hour because we heard so many positive reviews about this place. You would think being a diner based out of the 1950s era there would be family type of music and southern hospitality. There was rap playing too loud and the servers were rude. Bad atmosphere. We wont be back.
This place was recommended to us by my wifes cousin while we were on a motorcycle trip and the food was pretty good, the waitresses were working hard and we loved the atmosphere. We definitely will go there when we we are in town.
The server forgot my order THREE times...very unprofessional. The whole staff acts like they need to cut back on nose candy. AND...the place needs a good cleaning. You walk in and everyone is on top of each other...theres no room at all for all the business they get. They need an entrance separate from the checkout and exit. They really need to up their game and hire more professionals...and hire some cleaners
Massive selection, full drink bar and desserts! Server still managed to have recommendations despite over 400 entree and appetizer options! Food was a bit slow but the entire place was packed floor to ceiling so you cant blame em. Portions were large and the food was tasty. Took some cake home for a treat later.
Good staff, great food, my kinda music,, open 24hours, the place to go.
Ample menu with all types of food, the cakes are amazing, great customer service. Clean facilities too.Nice location in downtown as well.
Not as good as it was-slices of cakes are much smaller than I used to get when I still worked in Memorial Hospital. Also the kiwi fruit on my california cheesecake looked nasty. We visit Chattanooga very rarely and main reason when we do is we just missed eating our fave food/desserts there. I usually buy a whole cake in City Cafe, but this time...we decided to just get few slices to enjoy the taste of the other flavors. A big disappointment really. May not be coming back.
Wow. What a cool find. Small so expect a wait but its worth it. The best advice I can give is look over the menu prior to your visit. The menu is a short novel with so much to choose from confusion sets in. Will definitely go back and save room for cake!
Stopped by here on a vacation. As most places have their basic selections of food choices, this place supercedes the limits. They have a wide variety and plus VERY delicious! I would love to come back here again! Our waiter also cared about us, and took great care of us! I was very pleased! I wish I knew the waiters name to give her a shot out, and the cook as well!
GREAT place! We stayed the READ Hotel and it was convenient, very FAST for as busy as it was and the most AMAZING cakes! We went there 3 times and every meal was great!
Loved this place!Stopped in around 8 in the evening and had the most delicious diner food. They even had tons of cake and cheesecake option for dessert. Since there were so many options for dessert, the manager said he liked all of them except for one, and my husband and I couldnβt decide, we allowed ourselves to get 2 slices each. And what a great decision that was! We were still were eating leftover cake a week later and it was just as yummy!Highly recommend if you are on the road, need to take a rest, and enjoy yummy classic diner food and dessert.
Great food, huge servings and a must revisit atmosphere.
It was a basic diner in regards to the restaurants interior. It is attached to a Days Inn, which was rather surprising. The food was okay, but nothing special. They burnt my toast, served it to me and said... its a little dark, is that okay?At that point, I was already sitting with the rest of my food and it getting cold. So I just said its fine and tried to scrape off the burnt parts. The dessert looked absolutely amazing, I would maybe go back to get that, but nothing else. The menu is huge, so maybe they have lunch/dinner options that are impressive.
Its menu is the size of the Cheesecake Factorys (all available all day I was told) but it feels like a Dennys. Service was spot on. Got some pastries on the way out, all delicious. Definitely going back again.
Great service let me eat in peace thanks π also the food was amazing!
