I found out the headquarters is in CA which explains their idiotic policy of still having their dressing rooms blocked off AND all sales final. Good thing there are plenty of other charitable thrift stores in town. I feel bad for the employees who have to spew the corporate nonsensical CA policies.
I was impressed by the 50% off sale today, and I loved the Christian music playing overhead. The atmosphere was cheerful and I was feeling good -- until the checkout process. Sadly, I was NOT impressed with the Christian and professional ethics of the assistant manager!! What happened was; I had taken several clothing items off the hangers prior to arriving at the register (in order to facilitate a speedier check out). I was in the process of doing the same with the rest of my clothing items in the cart by the time I arrived at the register. In the past the cashiers have always thanked me for removing clothes from the hangers - (already there was a pile of hangers in one hand and clothes off the hangers in the other hand - which I placed on the counter). The assistant manager however acted offended by this, and said she would take the hangers off. She then got rude with me when I didnt INSTANTLY STOP removing clothing from hangers. I went ahead and complied by putting my clothing items still ON THE HANGERS up onto the counter. Unfortunately however, the fact that I was putting 3-4 clothing items at a time on the counter, (instead of the whole pile in my cart), ticked her off. She rebuked me for not picking up the entire pile out of the cart and proceeded to tell me she would stand right there and wouldnt touch any of it - until EVERYTHING was on the counter!! (I was all sorts of confused as to why my helpfulness was so offensive to her --- that is ---- until I realized it wasnt just me she was treating nasty.) This assistant manager lady, (who would not give me her name) then proceeded to call another store associate, (named Gary), over to my register. Apparently she was training Gary on the register. Gary was doing a mighty fine job handling my purchase - I was impressed with Gary! Nevertheless, the assistant manager lady repeatedly spoke to Gary in a very disrespectful and condescending manner! For example; a pair of pants that I was purchasing were laying on the counter with one of the pantlegs slightly folded up on itself. Horror or horrors, that slightly turned up pantleg was totally unacceptable to that woman who then said to Gary in a nasty tone of voice - Gary!! Straighten out the clothes!! Come on!! Get your head in the game! I couldnt believe my ears! What kind of nit picky nonsense is that! This is a thrift store for crying out loud - this is not Nordstrom!!Everything goes straight into the washer at home!! Gary never said a word but I can only imagine how he felt with her talking to him like that in front of me, and everyone else in line witnessing the exchange. I felt embarrassed for Gary and mortified that a leader at this store would treat another fellow employee in such an unfair and ugly manner. I then spoke up and said to the woman: Gary is doing just fine!! I dont care that the clothes arent laying just perfect!! They can just be crammed into the bag for all I care!! Of course this response from me resulted in her giving me an evil glare -- which I ignored! I feel sorry for Gary and anyone else who has to interact with this woman!! I also feel sorry for this woman cuz shes one miserable human being!!
This store does not follow CDC guidelines as they demand that customers wear face coverings. When I arrived, the parking lot was bare and minimal customers inside. I left after declining demands to put on a face covering. I went down the street to another of the many thrift stores in the city who do not force arbitrary demands on their customers. The store down the street was packed. And that is where I spent my money.
Great place to shop; a little bit of everything-quality & style.
I volunteered as a bell ringer coordinator several years ago and since then have tried to support the SA whenever possible. We recieved new pots and pans as a wedding gift so I figured we would donate our previous set which was in good shape just miss matched to this location along with some other household items. We went last weekend and they were full so went back today to donate. The lady that met us at the car was beyond rude, I have never experienced anything like it she acted as if she was doing us a large and inconvient favor accepting our donations. In the future I will donate elsewhere there are plenty of organizations who would be happy to take the items. Not sure if she was a disgruntled employee or being forced to volunteer but she shouldnt have been working in that position.
They sell overpriced broken things and when you bring it to their attention they will not give you a discount.
Great prices and very clean!
