I was referred to Pope Davis from the prior place my car received service. I am very happy with them as they made things happen for my car and helping change the looks of it by adding rotors and brakes rims and tires and they even did my wheel stud conversion kit for me. So this is my first car, and Ive been lucky enough to not have problems. Had something come up out of nowhere, and I definitely felt like I was in a position where I was stuck with having to do whatever they told me. Pope Davis QUICKLY found the problem and I was only charged a minimal diagnostic fee.While I didnt get the repair done there, the mechanic and front office staff talked me through what I needed to know, and were more than understanding. I will be doing all of my car work through this location for the duration of my time in Columbia.

Very dissatisfied! I took my car for tires and asked them to check my brakes and Rotors because I felt some trembling when braking.(Big Mistake) They told me I needed front and back brakes, pads and Rotors along with Struts. I replaced the front brakes, pads and Rotors with them. So I decided to take my car to the dealership for a second opinion. I was told that my front brakes and pads were fine and they indicated that I DID NOT needed front brakes or pads. I just needed Rotors. What a rip off. The mechanic from Pope Davis on Assembly Street, whom was not there when the job was being performed, called me a couple of days later and apologize that he was not there and if he was there, he would have driven my car first before diagnosing the problems. I need to be reimbursed for the front brake and pads along with any labor associated with these repairs!!

I had a serious tire leak. They fixed it reasonably fast since I didnt have an appointment and they worked me in. It was under warranty so it didnt cost me anything.They followed all the social distancing rules needed. There were shields at service representatives stations and all seating was social distanced.

Only the on on Asssembly street. The one on Hardscrabble messed my 2017 Jeep Compass. I had to call the owner to make a complaint. The owner my request and now my car only goes to the main repair shop on the Corner of Assembly and Rosewood. Its a longer distance but the knowledge mechanics there have years of experience and are very polite.

I was in Columbia visiting a friend (and I used to live in Cola but have since moved to a smaller town) so my friend suggested Pope Davis when I was having problems with my Mustang GT & its handling. Evidently when a friend borrowed my car, they didnt drive it as carefully as if it were their own! When I drove it in, I didnt realize the guys at Pope Davis were getting ready to leave, but luckily it was myself & my cute girlfriend who is a lot younger than me & lets just say shes a looker, so they didnt mind all staying & helping!So up my car went on the lift and in & out they all went, checking every little detail of my car! Turns out I had a bent rim on my wheel, so my friend must have been having some real fun driving my car (lets just say, no one ever borrows my cars ever again now!) and that resulted in making my TPSM light constantly stay on (on my navigation system settings), and if youre not familiar with the TPSM, its easier if you Google it than my explaining it here, bcuz it can mean a magnitude of many different problems, which is why the guys had to check so many different things!But you never want to wait & see what it could be later & have your engine cease on you, hence the importance of getting it checked right away before something does happen!Needless to say, my 1st time having a navigation system & it saved me from having a tire maybe blow up on me on a highway going home at 70 mph! So I will never have a vehicle without one again, besides the fact of the directions they provide when you need them are priceless.But Id be remiss in not mentioning my whole reason for this long articulated run-on of a review without saying how thankful & grateful I was for the 3 guys who were so great in staying on the extra 35 minutes to unmount, remount & balance my tire as well as check & double check every aspect of the TPSM light & its reset, then fixing the bent aspect of my wheel and at the end of it all, when I asked for my bill. I was told no charge! No Charge with smiling faces! So I asked what I could do for them, did they have cards for their business that I could pass around to friends who come through Columbia, becuz I know alot of people? And they proceeded to give me a 1 or 2 cards. I looked at them & said thats not going to cut it! So they brought out the box & said how many do you want? I said give me at least 25 or 30 & I can always come back for more! They laughed but I can tell you now since Ive updated this, I only have about 5 cards left, thats how many people Ive told about Pope Davis, though many who travel thru Columbia already knew about them!I sure hope Ive given you guys some more business & helped you out because you dont know what a jam I felt like I was in that day and its a good feeling to know that others care enough to do the right thing for nothing in return! Nothing, monetarily that is, they get something back from doing it, inside themselves!So next time Im in Columbia, maybe Ill just have to stop by & maybe Ill bring them lunch or something, just because its what you do for people who help others! I needed to have my tires balanced while driving home from a road trip. Despite knowing I was just a passing through, they stayed open late to balance my tires, finished the job quickly, and got me back on the road. The staff was professional, honest, courteous, and extremely fair priced. I cannot thank you enough for taking care of my issue.

The customer service at Pope Davis S Assembly St is top-tier! Oil change is reasonably priced and usually takes about an hour. Even if it took longer I wouldn’t mind because their waiting area is so calm and quiet it gives me a chance to do school work while I wait. Terry and Cam (I think those are their names) are the men at the front desk and they are great. One day I came in to get my tire patched because of a nail and it turned out that it was just the head of the nail and it hadn’t penetrated the tire—they checked to make sure no air was leaking and they didn’t even charge me (even though they very well could have because they did do work). Really great place and as a young college student who knows absolutely nothing about cars it’s really nice to have a place that I can go to and not have to worry.

Called to get some work done and instead of them just taking my money, they talked me through what was going on and actually sent me to a body shop instead. Great honest guys! Need more people like them.

Pope Davis is the ONLY place I go for car maintenance! :) They are honest, friendly, and trustworthy. They dont try to get me to have things done that dont really need to be done like some other places. They tell me what needs to be done and how much it will cost. And they always call me if they find something unexpected to get the green light from me. That way, I am never surprised with a huge bill when I pick up my car. I love that I can leave my car there one day and pick it up the next day! And the best part of all is........ Doc!!! He is the BEST! I love Pope Davis!! I trust them completely and am always satisfied with the services performed on my vehicles! If youve never been, you dont know what youre missing!! Go today!!

THE BEST Tire company in the midlands with excellent customer service

I called at 3:30 one day, concerned because I had run over some scrap metal on accident and was afraid it may have damaged the underside of my car. They offered to see me at 9am the very next morning. A mechanic looked at my car immediately and was back in less than 10 minutes to return my keys—he inspected it free of charge and was very helpful! Pope-Davis is excellent and very kind. I will definitely return in the future!

Excellent service! I just got stationed at Ft Jackson and went to have the entire front suspension replaced because another shop told me my ball joints were going out and they couldnt complete my front end alignment. Georgianna had my truck looked over and found everything to be working fine. I had the shocks replaced anyways due to having over 115k miles and the differential fluid exchanged. They did an excellent job and took great care of the truck.

Discovered a nail in my tire and was losing air pressure quickly on Fathers Day weekend. Rolled into the shop, and out the door in 45 minutes!Meanwhile, we had a refreshing bottle of water on the house, and my daughter got to watch a fun movie while we waited.Friendly, efficient, spectacular!

If only there were more stars to give them. I had a tire indicator on in my truck and was preparing to leave town for work for the week. I have been brining my vehicles to Pope-Davis for twenty years and this would be no different. They checked my tire and found no damage, topped off the air, and found that one of the running boards on my truck was loose and missing a bolt. The tech replaced the bolt quickly and it was all done at no charge. Pope-Davis is the definition of customer service. Do yourself a favor and bring your car or truck to Pope-Davis.

We were in a hurry passing through on a road trip and had car troubles, they were able to accommodate us right away despite holiday. After time invested testing our car they couldnt pin point a definite problem and were very honest with us about it and didnt charge us. Highly recommend these honest people!

I have been a customer of Pope Davis since I began driving in 2004. I started at Clemson Road and had good service. Moved away to college in VA and had to leave Pope Davis for a while to come back and have the same great service but this time going to the South Assembly store.My mom, grandma and I, being three women who know only some about our cars but not how to fix issues, trust in Pope Davis and would highly highly recommend them to everyone including other women who are afraid that they are going to be taken advantage of. Paul is my go-to-guy at Pope and has taken care of me since he took over for James this year. He has always treated me with respect, answered all of questions, explained why they need to fix what they need to fix, and finished the work as quick as humanly possible.If you have had a bad experience with Pope, I would say to give them one more chance, ask for Paul and tell him that Penny said to try Pope Davis one more time! I can be sure you will be pleasantly surprised. :)

This place is excellent, the lady at the front is sweet, honest and knowledgeable. I was having trouble with my tires with a long trip ahead of me and they took a look at my car, free of charge and gave me great advice.

I went in and told the guy at the front that I needed my battery changed. He asked me to come back the next morning because there wasn’t a technician available. I told him that I couldn’t and that it needed to be done ASAP. He said okay, asked for my keys, and went out to my car. He came in a couple of minutes later and told me it would be $273 for a new battery for my 2013 Ford Focus! I told him no and that I was just going to look for a better price so I didn’t get robbed. He then said okay and told me it was $51 for the diagnostic check he ran!!! I was astounded because most auto part stores run FREE diagnostic checks and he didn’t even mention the cost. These guys are thevies. I will never be back and I can guarantee that I will dispute the charge for the “service” that I did not ask for.

I have been a customer at this location for over 5 years and purchased 4 sets of tires over the years from the past manager John Roberts. I have tire alignment done on several vehicles with other mechanical problems repaired. But since they hired new staff I found they dont repair tires or even rotate tires anymore. The new management simply says the tires are either dry rotted or worn to much to fix or rotate. I think it is terrible to force you into purchasing new tires when you expect service after spending that much for premium tires. After they refused to repair my Michelin tires I went to a competitor and they repaired my tire in 15 minutes. I plan to return to their competitor to buy my tires in the future. I will never return to Pope Davis even if I have to pay some one else to rotate my tires on my other cars. They simply tried to take advantage of seniors and women!

Wound up there with a problem. Although I am an out-of-towner they treated me like a regular. Polite staff and prompt service. Highly recommended.

They over charge parts by x3 no trust if you take car there you will be bringing it back for same thing or related the equipment is so out dated you get charged for work that wasnt even done. Best bet folks is to go somewhere else like Franks tires or Nuttall tires for good and honest service for your vehicle.

Awful job on the brakes. They would not even admit to having done something wrong or that they could feel and hear the problem. They could have told me it was something else, and I would not have know the difference except that the particular noise and rattle were not there just before. They will never see me again.Later, I took the vehicle elsewhere (Complete Auto Care on Gervais). They fix the work that had been done improperly by Pope-Davis, plus told me what else was wrong; In early in the morning; out early in the afternoon. All issues properly addressed anc cleared. And Pope-Davis would not even admit to the noise and rattle. What a bunch of losers.

So I had a 10 oclock appointment scheduled for today. I scheduled it about 3 days ago and I spoke with Jessica on the phone. Really sweet lady who does her all to help. I told her how busy of a guy I am and how important the appointment was to me. She emailed me different quotes throughout the day and really went the extra mile to find me the right tire.I did not even get the tires that I set up an appointment for. When I got there, there was a misleading sign pointing to the back of the shop that said that is where the service desk was. After wandering around lost, I asked a guy in a LSU sweatshirt to point me in the right direction. He did, rudely and told me to just read the sign and then I pointed out that it was pointing the wrong way. This happened to be the same guy at the desk, he would not look me in my face and responding to everything I said in a dry and monotone manner. He was very rude, never looking up from the computer and also nonchalant. He kept shrugging at me and I took this as being very rude.After he found my appointment in the system, he told me it was going to be an hour and a half until they could get to my car. I was a little caught off guard seeing as though I had made an appointment for 10. So I ended up walking out only to come right back in. I came in and he was on the phone. He placed the caller on hold and looked at me and said yeah as if I was to respond to that.So then I asked if I could just come back in an hour and he responded if thats what you wanna do, yeah so then I said or would it be best for me to make another appointment to which he responded if thats what you wanna do. Or you can call up here and see if we are busy and if not come upHe then proceeded to tell me that the appointment time does not reserve your spot, it is only the time that you are expected to arrive. Why tell me I have an appointment if I still have to wait almost 2 hours once I get there? I would have never wasted time making the appointment!All in all, I just think it was rude the way LSU sweatshirt guy handled me, I did not get his name because he does not deserve that energy from me. He is just going to be LSU Sweatshirt guy. Never have I ever been to an establishment and been treated so lowly. He did not make eye contact with me at all and his vibe towards me was awful.Okay, I understand if you get a little busier than expected, but you need to work on your customer service skills. If you are having a bad day, dont pass that along to someone else jackass. If you dont like your job then quit. This situation wouldve went way smoother if LSU guy would have delivered better.So my issue is not with the product, the tires were actually fairly priced even though I did not go through with getting them, but with the lack of customer service skills possessed by LSU Sweatshirt. So go to this place at your own risk, just hope you get Jessica and not LSU Sweatshirt.

Overall, I havent had many problems with Pope Davis..however last time I went and got new tires, they didnt tighten the lug nuts. Luckily I could hear them rattling around and was able to tighten them before my wife went on her weekend trip.

They do a great job of getting you in and out!

I just called in order to set up an appointment for an oil change. I was instructed to hold as a representative was located. I never got off hold... That is not what you want for service to schedule an appointment. A bad first impression was levied.

I had a nail in 2 tires and they said it couldnt be repaired. They werent in the sidewall and I saw no reason they could be plugged and was not given a reason they couldnt be fixed. I was told Id have to buy new tires. Needless to say I left and took my car elsewhere and the tires were plugged and ready to roll
