We went to Sapwood Cellars for the first time on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately greeted and sat down at an empty table. The staff was very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful when discussing their beers. I enjoyed the half-pour option so that I could try more. Every beer we had was delicious!I think we found our new favorite brewery and look forward to coming back.
Visited Sapwood for the first time this past Sunday while visiting from out of state. I did some research on local breweries so we could visit a few while in town and we are really glad we stopped in at Sapwood Cellars! All of the staff was friendly, a very nice variety of beer varying from seltzer’s to sours to stouts. We got several beers to go so we could share with our family and friends at home. We will definitely come back next time we are in town!
First time customer today but I will be a long time customer. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable of their beers and with their wide variety of options you will certainly find more than one that will hit the spot. They also have a great atmosphere and great patrons. I thought it was a really friendly environment and there were a lot of great interactions between different groups in the brewery.
I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit to Sapwood, staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. A nice variety of beers on tap and in cans with very reasonable prices. If you like beer, a strong recommend to visit from me. Outside food welcomed and dog friendly.
This is a great place to take an date. On date night . The beer is smooth with great art all around this brewery. The night vibe is amazing . The prices aren’t bad either . I would come here a lot more often if I could
Sapwood had a great selection of beers, they were all delicious! Me and my friends had about 10 different beers from the tap and they were all good. Give this place a try.
An excellent local brewery. Great beers to go with a friendly atmosphere
Love this place. Great staff, nice tap room and always good selections of delicious brews!
So so good. Beer, service, amazing. Everything youd expect of a small well-run brewery. World-class sours and goses.
Great service and tasty beer. No food truck when I visited, so make sure you check the online schedule if you want food!
Great selection of beers! I loved the Dripped and the Moléd, they were amazing! Highly recommend :)
This was a very nice place. Its in a business Park which was different. The space inside though was ample and well appointed. The servers were all friendly and personable. There was a food truck outside which a number of patrons bought from. We brought our own food in, pizza, etc. Between my son and I we tasted four different beers and they really seemed quite similar. They were all good but not what I would call stand out good. We did see a couple of families with small children, so it is a family friendly place.
Fantastic beer, its a must destination if you enjoy really good and innovative brews
Hoppy beers, dark beers, sour beers you name it these guys make the best beer and have the best people around to serve them up.
Always a pleasure to visit this place. Good selection of craft beers, friendly and helpful staff, and outdoor seating next to the food truck. Definitely worth coming to on a regular basis to try new beers.
Sapwood brewery has very delicious beers and terrific service. Sapwood brewery has become my space for relaxation away from home. They are always brewing new beers and do a terrific job on the flavors. I highly recommend paying them a visit.
The barrel masters of Maryland. Exceptional beer -- theyre one of the best in the state at doing all styles -- and if you like barrel-aged beer, you must go here. The passion, expertise and quality of beer is unbeatable, and the staff/environment is always great as well.
Great beers for any taste preference, plus a friendly staff
The beer here is outstanding, along with great service and enjoyable atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit here!
Really tasty beers. The food truck was great. Great job with socially distant drinking. Will definitely be back!
Their selection of beers is certain to please all craft brew lovers. Very friendly and attentive staff
Enjoyed all of the beers Ive had here, especially impressed with the deep bench of hazy and progressive IPAs each time Ive been in. Comfortable, good-looking space tucked back in a business park... which means its quiet on the weekends and easy parking.
Fresh and fun balanced beers made with an eye towards trying unconventional ingredients and styles. Love that they go beyond the expected haze craze. Keep it up! Also the owners are really great.
Amazing beer, some of the best Ive had in MD. Hazy IPA and Belgians... my two favorite styles...
Sapwood Cellars has consistently been one of the best breweries in Maryland since their opening. Specializing in barrel aged sours and hoppy IPAs. But they excel in a broader view than that. Delicious pastry stouts and Belgian saisons among a few. Their beer is vegan so no lactose. They always use real ingredients. No natural flavorings here. My favorite brewery in Maryland by far.
Great place, great service, and some really good high octane beer!!!!
Amazing beer selection and the food truck was on point. If you like breweries, throw this one on your list
Nibbling on Tinos local bistro pizza that we had delivered to Sapwoods! Enjoyed the industrial & friendly atmosphere of the cellars while lapping up our beer samples filled with fruit & citrus aromas!
We stopped in on a Sunday evening to escape the heat and have some new brews. The bartender asked what kind of beer I liked and I told him super piney and dank ipas. He immediately explained the differences and intricacies of their different ipas on the menu. I was impressed with the beer and the attention to detail in the service. Lots of hoppy stuff here but we found some stuff my girlfriend really liked also.
Great bear, nice ambience, good prices for quality, and good food truck that day. If you need acoustic music let me know.
Best brewery in Maryland. The beers, in all varieties, are consistently excellent. Down to earth and friendly staff as well.
Low key with great brews.
Have been going since they opened and the beer is on point and atmosphere is on point. Id 100% recommend to friends and someone interested in beer. They constantly have new beers and try new things and theyre very friendly and welcoming.
Service was great, came in from out of town for pickup. Easy to order and pay online.
Had a few beers with a friend, Maria was our server and was an absolute delight, thank you Maria!
Delicious beer options! Plenty of art on the wall, relaxing scenery...
Has Great Brew flavors & IPAs
I have never had a beer I didnt like here. I love the atmosphere and the kindness of everyone working here. They are taking the covid-19 pandemic very seriously and I feel safe entering their brewery for pickup. I cannot recommend this place enough and I bring all of my friends to this wonderful brewery. I cant wait to be back to sit down for a beer in the near future.
It was my first time coming here and definitely won’t be my last! This place is awesome, the beer is so good! way beyond what I imagined and the staff is polite and informative. You guys are great keep it up.
Never a bad experience. Staff is super friendly and the liquid refreshments are always on point.
Went to Sapwood for the first time and LOVED it! My partner generally doesnt care for breweries, and he said it was his favorite that weve been to in the area. The staff were really friendly, helpful and knew their beer. Its an easy going environment and even a fun note on their board about how many shifts its been since Joe has broken a glass. Most importantly the beer was fantastic. I cant wait to go back!
AAA beer. Keep it up. I buy more. 🍻
Beers were SO GOOD
Beers are still great, nothing ever normal, but if that is what your looking, not your place.
Not sure where my fourth star went or why my comments didnt post. Anyway, staff was friendly & did a good job with COVID precautions. They wore masks, kept people distanced, sanitized areas when people left, etc. Environment felt safe.
If you are wondering what brewery you should visit in Maryland, this is the one. First and foremost, the beer is excellent. They specialize is juicy IPAs and sours. In fact, the owner literally wrote the book on brewing sours. Second, the staff are incredible--knowledgeable, attentive, and courteous. You will feel welcomed and taken care of. Third, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Its great for meeting with friends and family, and is not overly noisy like some brew houses.
Still making great beer and taking COVID-19 protocols seriously.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Sapwood since it opened. We stopped by after going to Manor Hill Tavern. They don’t offer flights, but I could a few 7 oz pours that hit the spot. The Orange Sorbet IPA was one-of-a-kind. Love the brewery scene they’ve got up here in Columbia. I’d already stopped by Black Flag and Hysteria last year. But I think Sapwood might be my favorite of the 3.
Nice that half pours are available. Timestream was the bomb! Hedger trimmerwas good too!!
Our favorite brewery in the area. Top notch beers across a variety of styles. The taproom is a relaxing spot to spend time in and the staff are the most friendly weve experienced at any brewery. Its like a second home.
Good beer, friendly staff.
I love the atmosphere here. The taproom is both elegant and rustic, and not overpowered by giant TVs, so it encourages conversation and savoring the beer. The beer selection is still small because they are relatively new, so theyre isnt much variety... Lots of lighter beers and pale ales. Hopefully there will be more variety as they become better established. If youre looking for food with your beer, be sure to check which food truck will be there before you go.
Love their beers and love their staff
Really liked the place. Hops were the hinge for the beers. The business park vibe was unexpected but the indoors works as a clean modern space. Beers had unique elements that created a space normally not occupied by other craft breweries. Not particularly close to where I live but hope to get back.
A fantastic brewery by 2 renowned Brewers that Ive been trying to get up to for a year. This place had quite a few people in it by 4pm on a Friday. Our were excellent and we drank every beer on tap.
I’m not someone who regularly leaves reviews, but i would be doing a disservice by not. That said, this place is unbelievable!! Their beers are outstanding, and their service is equally matched. I love how they brew beers to keep the beer conissuer happy, but at the same time appeal to the hop-heads! This is thus far the first brewery in MD that has been a absolutely consistent. And it’s easy to understand why.....their head brewer is a just as intense in the science as he is the anything else.CANT GIVE ENOUGH PRAISE!!!
Nice, clean place. Staff is friendly. Im not a big beer drinker and I tried 3 out of 6 and liked them all. I recommend them! Spencer seems cool and one of those people that seeks to love his job. Cool place. Check it out
The beer here is amazing. This is one of the few breweries that hit a home run right out of the gate. If you like hazy beers or sours, this is definitely your place. If not, their other beers are still great and the atmosphere is chill. Definitely a fun place to spend an evening.
Decided to make this a year of exploring the craft beer scene and expand my beer knowledge. Unfortunately (but great for them) Sapwood became one of my favorites immediately! Now it has become one of two breweries that I am becoming a regular patron! I love the atmosphere and the fact it’s more about the connecting with people and the great beers they concoct. The rum apple apple was by far a favorite of mine and I hope at sometime they bring it back, but the DIPAs can fill the void in the meantime!
Awesome beers and great service every time. Highly recommend!
Went there last week after hearing that the beer was good and totally loved it! Even took some home and plan to go back real soon. I like IPA and they had 2 or 3 that were very very good. Well balanced and not crazy high with alcohol.
Great beer, free parking, great service!!!
Best beer in Maryland without a doubt. I routinely take a 45 minute drive to go up and visit. Tap room staff is super friendly and will remember you after just a few visits.
Good stout and IPA offerings
Very impressed with the beer and staff!
Loved tasting the beer but wish they had flights.
Great small brewery with rotating taps. They focus on barrel aged beers, sours, and hoppy options. The owners are down to earth and approachable. The tap room feels classy. Only problem is getting in through traffic during rush hour. 100% recommend.
Incredibly fresh beers. Focus on hop centric pale ales. Super friendly staff. Looking forward to seeing them expand as they mature.
You might want to go here even if you dont drink beer - the customer service is top notch. We were sitting at a table (not the bar) and would barely set an empty glass down before a bartender was at our table asking if he/she could get us another round and to discuss the options. We did enjoy what we drank (as well as the taco truck). Looking forward to future visits. Kudos to the staff and management for a great customer experience.
Really liked this place. In my head the name sapwood cellars sounds like a brewery on some sprawling farm, but its a space tucked in an indestrual park. Inside is really inviting with great staff and really good beer. No food inside but they had a food truck. We will definitely come back.
Really like the beer selection.. awesome friendly ppl.. good food truck.. nice environment.. will be back again !!
Great staff, great beer
Great atmosphere, impressive beer, Super attentive staff. So glad we finally made it out here. Definitely will be back!
Not my favorite brewery, too many beers with fruit in them taste, I like more hops. Willing to try again if it doesnt contain fruit.
Some of the best beer Ive had in a while. Really nice place.
Best brewery in Maryland.
Good place
Great beer, you can tell the brewers actually know what they are doing and even if its not your favorite type of beer the flavors and ingredients are blended well.
(In response to owners question). I would say three things, two Im not sure you can really change. First, see my wifes post about the fruity flavors (Im fine with fruit beers, but she struggled finding a traditional ipa on the menu). Second, I gave it three stars simply because most of the beers rated about 1 point below my average on untapped. Thats just my opinion though and my preferred tasted, nothing wrong with any of your beers, there is just a lot of tough competition in the microbrew arena now a days. The third aspect, again just opinion, I felt the place was very nicely appointed, but could use a collective activity, board games or corn hole or something of that nature.
Excellent staff and excellent beer.
All the beers were fantastic! Great atmosphere. Favorite new brewery in the area.
Best craft beer in the greater Columbia area. The vibe is good for small and large groups too. Cheers!
They care about beer, and it shows.
