This is a cool, little shop. The clerk was friendly. Theres an amazing selection of new comics including recent back issues & many variants. Older back issue selection is minimal. The store is very colorful with a great display of comics on the walls. I was very happy with my visit. Be extremely careful trying to back out of the small parking area in front as its next to a very busy highway. All said & done, I highly recommend.

The owner was super helpful and nice to my 9 year old Son. He gave him 2 comic books to try out for free and a discount on our purchase. He also talked to my Son and gave a full tour of the store. My Son doesnt usually open up to people but he was totally comfortable with him. When we got home he said, Mommy, I think it was totally worth it to go to that comic book store. We will definitely be back.

My four year old watched an episode of the original reading rainbow where they learned how comic books are made. He said he wanted to go to a comic book store. So we came here, the owner was absolutely kind to my kids. Showed them where all the kid appropriate comics and toys were. He even gifted them two comic books each. Left there with several comic books and a few toys. From an adult standpoint I was even amazed. As a trekkie they had a bunch of collectibles. Will definitely return. Thanks for the great experience!

Excellent customer service in a place that clearly focuses on comics and not a bunch of “collectibles”. I have been in literally hundreds of comic shops and this is one of the best comic book stores I have ever been in! Ray makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. He treats you like a friend on your first visit or your fiftieth visit. He goes above and beyond to try and help all of his customers.

Wonderful staff who were able to help me figure out what I wanted.I was expecting just comic books in such a small store but it had an eclectic stock of vintage items such as CDs, games, figures, etc. Next time Im in there I will take time to see everything in the store, because Im definitely coming back!10/10 would recommend

Hands down one of the best shops Ive had the pleasure of visiting. Its so good that I moved away from Columbia and after trying some new shops at home I just wait until I come back to Columbia to get my books from Ray. Great selection of comics and no shortage of other fun stuff to browse. Also, for anyone who has trouble with the parking Ive been shopping at Rays for years and I almost always just park at Walgreens and walk over.As a final note I just want to add that as someone with a girlfriend who loves visiting comic shops to see what kind of stuff they have it is not uncommon for both patrons and owners to sort of side eye her like she doesnt belong. This has NEVER been an issue at Cosmic Rays, she was warmly welcomed from day one. Thats the kind of stuff that truly makes Rays the best.

Hands down one of the best comic book stores Ive ever been in. They have a big selection of new and back issues from DC to Marvel and everything in between. The prices are very reasonable. What really makes this store awesome though is the staff. They make you feel welcome the second you walk in the door whether youre a regular or a Newby and are happy to help you in any way they can. I have such a tremendous amount of love and respect for Ray, Greg and this shop. When I walk in here, everything else just disappears from my mind. My stress floats away. I love this place so much because I can either walk in for just 30 minutes on Wednesdays to grab my pull-list worth of comics or I can come in any day and end up spending 3-5 hours there just chatting with the friends Ive made from going there every week. I wouldnt trade that for the world. May this place NEVER have to shut its doors.

An amazing place with not only a great selection of new issues, but a wide variety of back issues, trades, and tons of toys and paraphernalia. But what really makes it is Ray himself! He is genuinely friendly, unexpectedly funny, and unabashedly weird. Exactly what you need in a friendly neighborhood comic book store!

Cosmic Rays is what every privately owned store should be like. Its packed with comics, records, video games, books and figures. You can tell that everyone that works there (two guys) love what they do. They talk to you about comics, not down to you. If its hot, theyll offer you a bottle of water. They tell you whats good. Of course they want you to buy stuff, but they honestly want you to be happy with your purchase.

Staff members are very nice. There is a great selection of new and back issues, and when you buy any comic book they put it in a plastic cover with white cardboard in the back (which I loved). They also helped me find exactly what I wanted.

Moved to Columbia from Atlanta and Rays shop was the closest so the first I checked out. He spoke immediately, introduced himself and gave me a quick tour. His shop is always neat and clean, even on Wednesday. His variant cover prices are never unreasonable and if you need a book he will find it for you. Plus he always offers water bottles when you shop. There are larger shops in the area but if you want a LCS with a great selection where you can build a good relationship with the owner look no further than Cosmic Rays.
